I agree with what you all said. It's completely ridiculous and I hate it, but it seems to be the "cool" thing now days which is a shame because it's not. People say to be respectful of all religions and identities, but turn around and trash us.

Yeah I get frustrated too sometimes, but then I have to keep thinking back to how Jesus and the other disciples and apostles felt and what they had to go through. Sometimes we just have to take a couple slaps to the face. I'm really prideful (it's my biggest sin, at least of all the main seven deadly sins), and sometimes I want to fight back, but then I have to take a deep breath and think about what Jesus would do. Well, we know what he did. He literally died for our sins, due to the false accusation of the world. So we just gotta keep on preaching what we know and learn more ourselves, you know? It's honestly something that I'm working on, since I just get so prideful and offended. But I guess I just need to spend time praying about it, tbh. I haven't really done that, but I think I need to start soon. Yeah, I get like that a lot too. Every time I see pretty much, like, any statement made by someone from the SJW movement, I have to fight very, very hard to resist the urge to start tearing into them. Pride is a problem for me too, so I'll just keep praying about it.

Saint Ambrosef Yo, I saw you mention Catholicism and being excommunicated in the event you vote for Hillary. What's that about? whoops missed this
Catholicism has rules regarding democratic voting. We aren't allowed to vote for a candidate that supports any of five things: abortion, human euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, human cloning, and homosexual marriage. If all of our choices support one or more, than we have to choose the lesser of the evils. Otherwise, voting for such a candidate is automatic excommunication from the Church. Since I know Clinton supports at least 4 of those 5, there's no possible way for me to vote for her without violating my conscience and my religion.

People hate hearing the truth, and Christians tend to do that. Or there are some claiming to be Christians that turn around and say this that and the other thing (one of the reasons for many "Holy" wars [In my opinion])
Christ did say that our time on Earth would not be easy

Whoa I came on and heard there was a fight last night x.o that didn't sound pleasant. The political thread started innocently enough, but was clearly predestined to be trouble just because the nature of these boards. I was there for the start but missed most of the fighting. I never saw the islam thread.
There are so many members on here that are, for lack of a better word, incredibly immature. They don't know how to express their viewpoints without becoming nasty, condescending, patronizing, and acting superior. It's when they get involved that the fighting breaks out. And I'm not going to name names, but it tends to be the same handful of members.
There's also members who constantly feel the need to drop comments about "blocking" members for different viewpoints. And I'm like...what is the point of posting that? There's absolutely no reason to comment such a thing except to be smug (wow look at you), draw attention, and probably cause lowkey drama. I'm also 90% sure I'm one of those blocked persons. Which makes me curious-- is it just because I have expressed a different perspective, which I have never had the opportunity to explain? I don't think I've ever intentionally started drama or been rude in a debate.

I'm glad I missed it but I'm still curious as to what all happened seeing as one member deleted their account. I know what you're talking about, and that group seems to slowly be growing with each fight. Personally I try to stay out of fights as they just aggravate me and there's nothing I can do about it. Oh I saw one of those the other day when they made a thread about it, ugh, can't handle other peoples' opinions so they have to block them until all they see is their opinion. I don't think I am, but then again I don't really talk with people on here so I'd never know.

Is this actually enforced though? The only way the church knows who a person is voting for is if they come out and tell them. And it'd be a shame on the church for trying to dictate people's voting decisions, especially with threats of excommunication. That just isn't right. I attended a catholic school before and I just never remember anything like that, so I'm confused. More thought should be put into voting than just 5 stances, at least in my opinion. Is this a specific branch of Catholicism or something?

I probably start trouble more than I mean to, but I'm an incredibly blunt person and I will have no problems pointing out truths when there is fallacy. I just value honesty and truth a lot so seeing lies gets under my skin.

I attended a catholic school before and I just never remember anything like that, so I'm confused. More thought should be put into voting than just 5 stances, at least in my opinion. Is this a specific branch of Catholicism or something? Catholicism is one Church. There aren't "branches" of it like in protestant denominations-- we all follow the same doctrines.
There's such thing as general excommunication. That is, a formal declaration that anyone who does X thing is automatically excommunicated. They don't need to be seen committing the sin, it's a recognition of reality. Like a retrofitting. The sin may be committed in private, in which case only the one person would be aware that they are excommunicated, but the state of their relationship with the Church remains that way regardless if the clergy know. It's kind of like if you cheated on a significant other in secret; you may be the only one aware of your wrongdoing, but it doesn't change the fact that you were unfaithful. An example: preforming an abortion, having one, or aiding someone in receiving one (like driving them to the clinic), is considered worthy of instant excommunication.
It takes some very serious sins to be excommunicated-- it's not taken lightly. Besides direct involvement in abortion, there are eight other reasons: apostasy (renouncement of the faith), heresy (teachings that contradict doctrine), schism (related to heresy), violating the sacred species (desecrating the Eucharist), physically attacking the Pope, sacramentally absolving an accomplice in a sexual sin (i.e. a priest absolving their lover), consecrating a bishop without authorization, and directly violating the seal of confession (priests take a vow of silence regarding what they hear in confession).
I should clarify from earlier. Voting for a candidate who supports one of the five listed issues leaves me in danger of being excommunicated, but it's not automatic like the aforementioned.
It should be noted that the sinner in question must know of the full penalty of their actions in order to be excommunicated (i.e. if, for whatever reason, they did not know that abortion is against Church teachings, they would still have sinned but would still be part of the Church). This would also be true is the sinner is a minor, not mentally capable of understanding the severity / imperfect use of reason, was forced/driven by grave fear, or was forced by others.
Unforunately, most Catholic schools aren't that great at teaching their religion. They'll get the basics down but rarely go into specifics. I attended a Catholic school in elementary school, and even I remember my 3rd grade teacher telling me it was okay not to believe in Purgatory (a big no no).
There's more to voting for Catholics than those five issues; those are simply the most important, because they're called the non-negotiables (they will never, in any circumstance, be considered "okay"). There's a whole official book called the Catholic Voter's Guide that talks about other things to keep in mind while voting.
EDIT: I'm Santa's little kitten!

Are the forums getting on anyone else's nerves as of late? I am seriously thinking about taking a break from this place, because I am so annoyed with everything going on. Which honestly makes me sad, because I like this site. However some members are just really grating my nerves.
