Oh. The thing about forum cliques, though. That's definitely true.
But it always has been. The wcf was bad for it. I was part of the tumblr group a couple years ago and ya'll wouldn't believe some of the trash talk that went on outside the site.

Haha, if people wanted to trash talk they couldn't with some of the people in there.
Also, I'll be praying that you feel better!

Oh guys, we got a mention. Go us! (Are there people talking bad about this thread? I haven't seen that either. Everyone here has been really nice?) We got a mention? Where? :0 Nah I don't think so. I was talking about it on the beautifully-titled "mm" thread with Gojira, he/she said something along the lines of "You're lucky your Christian thread is full of friendly and sane people." And I mean if there's really this much hostility out there on rest of the forums, it's nothing short of miraculous that none of it has leaked into this place, since religion is like one of the most polarizing issues in the world. We've got atheists, Protestants, Catholics, Mormons, agnostics, and even antitheists, but there's been zero animosity whatsoever. It's amazing.

Oh hey I see the mention now! Awesome! Our infamy is spreading. Soon we will take over the world > But that is cool though.

I didn't see your comment. I saw something like "if the Christian thread can stay civil in spite of hate their way, why can't the rest of the forums?" I don't think we've had hate. Which is fortunate. And cool. I was honestly expecting more trolls here.

I was originally worried that this thread was going to eventually erupt into a flame war and get nuked, but the exact opposite has happened. I based a lot of my wording on the front page around that expectation. I can probably change it now, actually, since I have been proven thoroughly wrong.

I really like how the front page is worded. So it's best to keep it.
Also, when I first saw this place I thought it was a joke thread until my friends started to point it out so then I joined and was like, cool. Maybe I can talk about my religion now. I was really happy for this place.

Splintercat listening to skillet's new album ^^ wait there's something going on in otd? o.O wcrpforums.com/thread/8167/mm?page=1It's mad. I had no idea anything like this was going on so I was like "What the heck?" But almost all of the time I spend on here is spent on this thread, so I guess I just haven't seen any of it. What's their new album called? I like Skillet but have never really gotten too deep into them Late to the party. But here's my input.
Honestly, I think half the people on this website need professional help. And I don't say that as a mean, bitter, "they're crazy" way. I honestly think a lot of forumers need to seek professional counseling from a therapist. I mean, there are the kids with depression and I know they can't help that. But then you've got these other forumers who just blow every tiny bit of drama way out of proportion and seemed to be offended by everything...they become so uptight and worried about being personally attacked that they can no longer laugh at themselves. Everyone here knows I'm Catholic. And I've been verbally (and physically, once) attacked for that belief. I know what it's like to be singled about because of something a part of myself. But I can still laugh at light-hearted jokes pertaining to my faith ("these candles are too Catholic-y"). I know when they're meant to be mean-spirited and when they're not meant to be taken seriously. And I think that's part of the problem with a lot of youth today, not just on here. They take jokes very seriously. And frankly, I do agree with some of the people on the thread-- there are some people on this site that need to loosen up and not be so quick to jump to the offensive. The other day, I saw someone make a "wasted food? im triggered" joke. Obviously it's meant to mock the tumblr-esque version of "triggers," aka "this thing makes me mildly uncomfortable". Not mocking the people who have legitimate traumas and triggers. But immediately some accounts starts commenting about how that "wasn't funny at all" and "really offensive." And I'm just over here like...???? Are you serious?
Unfortunately I am part of a generation that feels offended by everything because society has been pounding into their heads that underneath everything there's some form of a subtle misogynist/racist/homophobic message. Not helped by the fact that a lot of teens never say what they really mean, leading to communication confusion and a lack of trust. Put those together, and you have millennials who suspect that everything is a personal attack against someone.
I also want to get this off my chest: half of OTD are drama queens. I've seen at least ten legitimate call-out threads or passive-aggressive "UGH DRAMA" topics. That is not how you stop drama, that's how you fan it. I swear, these forums might mostly be older teens/young adults, but they act like emotionally unstable middle schoolers.
Part of me thinks the thread you linked was at least partially directed at me. I've made a few snarky comments, like "wow drama" when I sense trouble brewing. And I posted a trigger joke on the ""SJW"" thread (which was a joke made by sjws lol). I can't think of much else besides that. But it seems to fit into what they count as trouble makers.

it's not just when it comes to jokes, though. More than a few times I'll make a statement and have multiple people immediately jump down my throat like "BUT NOT ALL [blank] ARE." And I have to be like...chill with the hyperbole? they weren't even very serious topics I can't think of an actual instance rn (they're alluding me ahhh). But for example, I'd say something like "A lot of people like the color blue" and get three different responses of "NOT ALL PEOPLE LIKE BLUE" -.o That's why my status was stuck on "why is everything i say on this forum taken as a personal attack or hyperbole" for awhile, it happened like 3 times in a few hours
on the topic of cliques, I've never been in one. I was sort of a loner on OTD, nobody really knew or was friends with me. All my buds were firmly fanclanners and never ventured there. I was that forumer whose SN you recognized but never really had a conversation with. like the snarky kid in the back of class whose last name you never knew.
i saw some of the wcf trash talk on tumblr but never knew who they were talking about lol
EDIT: i guess i did have friends on the night owlz, but that group mostly stayed within the thread and other chats. most didn't lurk OTD.

Emotions aren't rational. So neither is justice based off emotion.
Tbh I get embarrassed to call myself a millenial sometimes because of the image my generation has imparted to the title.

I'm not an "anti-sjw" - I think those types of labels are counterproductive. I truly believe that these people have good intentions. But they posit a lot of problems with no solutions. And if everyone is problematic...

Yeah... and that's the problem you get when people think than anything can be right. They soon realize that by that logic, that means anything can be wrong too. And so results in a giant scramble to shut down the concept of absolute truth, and then realizing in a panic that they no longer know what's wrong anymore

I wouldn't say I'm necessarily anti-sjw, but definitely anti-sj (or at least the far-left's version of it). Most of the "issues" they speak of are misconstrued, nonexistent, or a tiny thing blown out of proportion. Every now and then they get something right, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. From what I've seen, a great majority of the "movement" is based of assumptions and ignorance. It's mostly emotional-run rather than a factual base. Which means trying to convince them of anything is impossible.

I mean I'd kinda consider myself anti-sjw but only the super far-left's (or tumblr's) version of sjw because that's just out of control. explaining facts to them never gets anywhere.
