I was really confused the other day on something that happened last week. I was scared to talk to one of my sources because I wasn't sure of what he would say. I have talked to him since but it still scares me to talk to him and I don't know why. Maybe it's because I'be never really had to use him for something like that before. I dunno. That was my week.

It's not on DVD yet, which means it's gonna be really hard to find a quality stream of it.

hey, i believe in god (...usually?) but am not sure i'd ascribe to a particular religion, mostly because i'm not all that knowledgeable about any religions. i just clicked this thread out of curiosity really. having read through the thread's OP i have a question, though... just something i'm genuinely curious about. why are the quran and torah listed as recommended reading, but not any other religious texts? i think it's a matter of general reccomendation for christians to understand other religions better so we can have a better understanding of their life's perception. I assume they're the only two listed because they're likely the only two most are aware of

im completely unaware of whether or not buddists and hindus have like a main "bible" sort of book? If not, I'm guessing that's possibly why they're not listed.

I assume they're the only two listed because they're likely the only two most are aware of that's exactly why i'm asking, why not other religious texts? and I don't think they'd be the only ones most are aware of... like, what about buddhist or hindu writings for example? Those are pretty major religions too. i guess it depends on your definition of major as well as relevancy. Islam and Judaism are both Abrahamic religions like Christianity (in fact, Judaism is part of the history of Christianity) so it's very relevant to our religious sphere regarding discussion of source and theology. Religions such as Hindu and Buddhism are very different in terms of origins and beliefs, so they're a lot less relevant to the cultural and historical debate regarding Christianity. Also, most people (i'd say at least 95%) on these boards are from Euro or American-centric society, where the primary religions we are exposed to are Abrahamic. We just don't come into contact with traditionally Eastern religions very often, or have much familiarity/working knowledge of them. It's not a deliberate exclusion; my point is that it didn't really occur to anyone because Eastern religions just don't come up in our thoughts/conversations often. If you have any suggestions, we'd be happy to add them.

Personally, I'd recommend to y'all to read the Book Of Mormon. Even if you don't believe it is truth, it still shows several strong examples of a steadfast Christian faith. But, I'd recommend, if you read it, pray about it like you would the Bible. Ask God if it's truth. My mother is a Baptist and she has read it. I can tell you it's truth and you likely won't believe me, but try talking to God about it. I'm sure He'll reveal it to you, whether it is or not.

If you have any suggestions, we'd be happy to add them. that they're all abrahamic is a fair enough answer. i'm not sure how the definition of major could be up for debate though? like, approximately 1,150 million people follow hinduism, for example. the rest of what you say makes sense though. i mean, i dunno, i don't really have any suggestions personally, that'd probably be up to the people who actually frequent this thread. i just stumbled upon it and was genuinely curious as to the reason, if any. should have clarified on the major part. both are definitely major religions as far as follower count, but geographically it depends on where you live. like if you live in the East, then yeah, Hinduism and Buddhism are both everywhere. but in the West (which is where most of the board members are from) they're a pretty small part of our populations. totally just question, i'd never really thought about it myself.
