I do not keep the Sabbath, and I personally do believe in free will, but not predestination.

"New Testament" is an arbitrary title, it doesn't mean anything The bible isn't intended to be "split up", there is a definite 'change in tone', but it's not a separate covenant or law. It's more like an inclusive clause that was amended to the initial text I know that, but in the New Testament, is the law given to Christians whereas the Old Testament law was given to the Israelites. That's not how that works, Everything said by Jesus was to everyone. It didn't nullify any standing commandments, and the Sacrifice only did away with sacrificial laws, providing us with the ultimate covering of grace, and you're simplifying different groups of people that are mutually inclusive

There's definitely a refocusing of how we're to live our lives once we hit the new testament, nothing really new though. Most everything that Jesus said can be found in the old testament already, as is most of the new testament in general point is, there is no 'new testament' without the 'old testament'

and by refocusing, I mean Jesus brought our attention back to how He has been intending us to live, not to a 'new path' or anything like that

The old testament law required sacrifices and certain foods not to be eaten. The reason we are "free" so to speak from many of those requirements is because of Jesus's coming and resurrection.

quick question: do you guys accept Mormons (or LDS) to be christian? some people do and some don't. and if you don't even know what it is that's fine to. I don't quite know the beliefs of Mormons, so I couldn't say.

♛ I'm surprised Casting Crowns isn't on the recommended bands list. They're like my favs. also: do you ever go to mass and the readings are super interesting and then the homily is just about some charity or a retreat and you're like… the one time I wanted to get some insight

Casting Crowns is amazing! Also, I would absolutely love a Bible Study. I have several versions. I love the New American Standard Bible as it sticks a bit closer to the logical flow of the original texts, but for intense study I use my KJV study Bible. What book would you guys like to dive into? I think one of Paul's letters like Romans would be beneficial. (Everybody else, feel free to throw out other suggestions.) What sort of structure would you suggest for a Bible study on here?

I love NLT but any version is good, really. Romans would be awesome! I'm already going through Psalms rn so anything but that haha

Romans is an incredible book and one of my favorites to study. I'm currently in Galatians with my study group, so that's fresh on my mind, but I'm good with anything, really. Structure... hmm. I'd put the book and the chapter that we're studying on the front page to remind everyone where we are. We could take it a chapter at a time, I guess. I feel like the best way to study is expositionally (verse by verse), so my posts could get a little long (not that I haven't already written novels... hehe sorry). Sounds good to me. I think that'd be a great thing to do. I'll wait til we get some more input from other chatters on which book it should be c:
