Hi friend. I know this isn't necessarily a debate thread, but I feel obligated as a fellow Christian to point out what I believe to be false interpretation. 1.) Simply BEING transgender, like simply being gay, is not a sin, no. Sin is something that you yourself are responsible for - if you are born trans, you didn't choose to be. Acting on it, however, is absolutely a sin. The Bible clearly condemns transvestitism (Deuteronomy 22:5) and the Greek word often translated “homosexual offenders” or “male prostitutes” in 1 Corinthians 6:9 literally means “effeminate men.” So, while the Bible does not specifically mention transgenderism, when it mentions other instances of gender 'swapping' it clearly and explicitly identifies them as sin. 2.) Absolutely everyone who is transgender experiences gender dysphoria. That's the sole effect of being transgender - without it, you are simply identifying as a different gender, which has no scientific (let alone biblical) basis. Transgender people are scientifically proven to more than often have more matter in the brain related to the sex they identify as, thus making it purely psychological and yes, necessary. Our minds and genetics, by nature, are sinful. This is why one must be born again in order to be saved -- we literally need to be saved from ourselves. 3.) Clearly, acting as the opposite sex is a sin mentioned in Deuteronomy. We know we are in God's will when our actions glorify Him. God's will will absolutely never contradict scripture. You cannot serve and glorify God by transitioning because the act of transitioning is purely aesthetic - you cannot change your chromosomes (i.e. biological sex) with surgery. Saying you are a woman when you are biologically a male (and vice versa) is a blatant lie. You cannot serve God and yourself or the world (Matthew 6:24, James 4:4); we have to die to self to serve Him. Transgender people were around long before science made it possible for them to transition -- if it were God's plan from the start for them to be able to transition, He likely would have provided a natural way, and He definitely would have specified it. Where the Bible is silent, we are silent. Where the Bible speaks, we speak. 1) There's a lot of problems with your viewpoints on this, unfortunately. Of course, it is hard to know until you understand what mental illness is like, but God has never pointed it as a sin to have mental illness or dysphoria, nor did He ever say a word on transgenderism. We're not talking about effeminate men or 'gender swapping'. We're talking about people who are actually transgender male or female. So IE: if they were designated male at birth, who identifies as female, they are female, not an effeminate man. There's a big difference. 2) Sociological dysphoria is also a genuine issue, it's got similar effects as purely psychological dysphoria (IE: the feeling that you don't fit into the gender you were assigned resulting in suicidal thoughts or actions or obsessive mentality). God never said our genetics are sinful. In fact, God made us, and we are fearfully and wonderfully so. He did, after all, knit us together in our mothers' wombs. That means, by God's design, our genetics are not sinful. If God was to make someone a sinner for their genetics, that would be against His merciful and wonderful ways. 3) People did transition before science made it possible, as in they behaved and became the opposite sex. A good mention of this is the eunuchs in the Bible, who were essentially men who were treated as women and behaved gender-neutrally and were castrated. This is also made clear by Jesus to not always be a physical transition, but sometimes one beginning from birth. (Matthew 9:12: "Some are born as eunuchs, some have been made eunuchs by others, and some choose not to marry for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. Let anyone accept this who can.") 1. But He did. Did you read the verses? It clearly says that men "wearing women's clothing" and vice versa is wrong and God detests it. 2. That's not necessarily true. There are many "curses" or things that travel through genetics. No one is perfect and that's because of sin. Sin has allowed genes to change and transform to allow sinful behavior. That's like saying someone who is genetically prone to anxiety isn't wrong, but God doesn't want us to be fearful. He also uses things like this to test us and help us grow as people and grow closer to Him. 3. Transitioning is literally becoming the opposite. I don't believe that you can be biologically male and then just say that you feel like a female. That doesn't make you trans. Trans = transitioning. Not agreeing is not the same as accepting. Just my two cents!

Hey! So glad I found this place.
Could I suggest a movie? The Passion of the Christ is amazing. However, it's rated R for violence and is only for those who can handle intense, scary scenes and lots of feels.

I have returned. Welcome, ☾ Cʀᴇsᴄᴇɴᴛ ☽, and a welcome to anyone else who might have shown up that I haven't seen. Minor thing: we're like 4-5 hours from home and our dogs have been stuck inside alone for several hours now, because our dogsitter left and we're behind schedule, so over the next few hours could you maybe keep them in your prayers, that they won't freak out or anything and that they'll stay safe?

Praying for puppies. ;v; Also, I've only seen Passion once, and I think I was six or seven. Scared me to death. I'd like to watch it again. Woah, guys. Cool idea. We should totally have a livestream of a movie of our choice (we can have a vote or something). We can chat and discuss as we watch. Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks that'd be really fun. Hey that would be rlly freakin cool. I'd prefer that it be on Netflix but I'll figure something out if it's not.

No. I kinda missed that part of your post, I was thinking that we'd have a set date and time and then all watch the movie at the same time while chatting on this thread. Livestreaming sounds cooler though. Teach me your ways.

Who all HAS Skype? If we all do (or if those who don't can make one) we'll just do it that way. Better messaging system imo. I can just make one, I assume others can do it too pretty easily

I can just make one, I assume others can do it too pretty easily Coolio! Should probably plan a time (and a movie for that matter). What's a movie on the front page list that everyone would want to watch? Prince of Egypt and Risen are the only two that I think everyone would enjoy. Wouldn't mind either of the God's Not Dead movies though, I wanna see 'em.

I also vote Prince, just because I freakin' love it so much. And it's been a while since I've watched it. Whenever you guys make your Skypes, either PM me or reply to this with your usernames. I'll make a group for us. ^.^ Kk. I'll probably have to make a Skype late tonight or tomorrow. What time and day were you guys thinking for this?

I'm pretty much up for any day of the week. I can't do it on Tuesday nights, Saturday nights, or early in the morning, but other than that I'm up for whenever. I'm PST btw.
I'm guessing most of you aren't on summer vacation anymore? That'll definitely be a factor in the scheduling.
