On the old forums, I had a Clan called FawnClan. It was something that was popular for maybe a month and eventually died down. Well, once it died, I decided to revamp it. It had a monarchy and five spirits they worshiped but other than that, it was okay. It wasn't really what I wanted. After working on it for years, I finally got it to the point where everything would make the most sense and it was different than your average royalty/kingdom cat role-play as well as different from regular Clans. Now I want to bring it back, but my fear is that in its time of development, it has grown complicated. So let me explain more in depth of what it really is before asking if anyone is interested.
FawnClan is a monarchy based Clan that worships five Spirits. The main Spirit is the Great Spirit, commonly thought to be female. She is believed to have created the world and the other Spirits. Medicine cats believe her to watch over them only in the appearance of a fawn, but there is a common belief she is a tortoiseshell she-cat. (Torties have a mix of fur colors, so she symbolizes all of the Spirits in her.) The other Spirits are based off of the four seasons and are named as such. They also have alternative names, which are called their informal names. There are many festivals and ceremonies that are meant to please the Spirits to offer a bountiful season.
Kins are families under the four Season Spirits in FawnClan. There are four, including the Royal Family. Each Kin has a Lord and Lady. They are the heads of the Kin and the immediate family. They, like the Royal Family, are a monarchy. The eldest chosen kit of their litter will take over their duties when they are of age. There are the Kin of Fawn, the Royal Family. The Kin of Rabbit, which are the Kin of Spring, the Kin of Eagles, for Summer, the Kin of Fox, for Autumn, and finally, the Kin of Crow for Winter. Each Kin has their own special suffixes along with sham suffixes.
Shams are illegitimate kits. They have no power, they have low ranking and can only be legitimized through selfless acts of courage or if the Lord or Lady want to ask for legitimization to offer an heir to their direct line. Names and heritage are very important in FawnClan, as well as standing. Kits of the Lords and Ladies are often arranged with another kit of a Lord and Lady of another Kin or sometimes the Royal Family. Who goes well depends on the season and if they are arranged to the Heir of the throne.
The first plot, yes first, I had in mind would be war between siblings in the Kin of Fawn. The King once had an affair with the Lady of Fox after his Queen died. This resulted in the first birth of a tortoiseshell cat in several, several generations. The kit is raised alongside her half-siblings and her heritage is widely known despite her being legitimized. Because of her fur, she's considered a good omen and many sees this as her needing to be the Heir. However, many side with her eldest half sibling as the right to be the Heir, as she was the first born and was never originally a sham. The King is ill, and never appoints an Heir, leading the siblings to fight over the throne.
If I do open this role-play, I was also wondering if I allow original characters or have cats for people to claim so we don't have to rely on joiners to make up the rest of the Clan. If you are interested, please don't ask for high ranks just yet. Let me see how the poll is and get things sorted if there is enough support.
