Vetiver grinned. "Hey, sorry I'm late. You all look great!" He said, before falling silent as the king and queen entered the room. He listened to the King's brief speech. It was nice to hear a thank-you from his employers every so often, especially straight from the king. He was even more excited when the food was brought out. He could smell the delicious herbs and spices that had gone into the cooking.
Alexander hated dinner parties, and that's essentially what this was. He wasn't antisocial, but he was annoyed with all the fake-friendliness and gross flirting that was happening all around him. Not to say he wasn't okay with flirting, but he didn't like to see other people do it. At the moment, he just wanted to leave. "I don't see why I have to be here," He muttered to Luna. He wasn't going to pretend to act grateful to all these servants.

Luna just sighed at the fact Alex was complaining. The only reason she was here was because her mom asked her to. And she always tried her best to make her mom happy. "Because Alexander we are part of the royal family. It is our duty to attend these and balls." Was she really the only one with her head screwed on properly? Her dad was a psycho, Jackson was a god awful flirt and Alex complained. In her mind it seemed her mother and her were the only ones with their heads screwed on right.

(okay real quick story time bc I find this hilarious. this is a legit conversation that just happened in my house: so, my little sister has caught the reading bug (inherited from yours truly) and she has read 6 books this week alone. my mom got upset bc she is always reading so she grounded her from reading: mom: no more books. I don’t want you reading again till your sister goes back to school. you have stopped interacting with your family and she’s only here for one more week. you need to spend time with her sister: but mom! what am I supposed to do all day? you can’t ground me from reading! mom: we never see you any more! sister: what if I only read when y’all are asleep? mom: that’s part of the problem! you wake up early to read. you stay up all night to read. ALL YOU DO IS READ! sister: what do you want me to do?! watch tv?! mom: yes! as long as you’re with the family and not reading me: *dies of laughter in a corner*)

{Bruh, that's hilarious. } Valcory laughed at Efos and her awkward behavior. "Someones out of her comfort zone." Valcory was good at pointing out other peoples problem. "I don't know about you, but I am starving!" She picked through her food, trying to decide which to eat first. She stopped and looked around, not wanting to be the first person to start eating.

(my family is weird XD and sorry for the small poof i had to curl my hair :3)
Hava dug in, closing her eyes in pleasure as she tasted the delicious food. "Give my compliments to Sophia and Annaliese in the kitchens!" She said to a passing servant. "Isn't this food just divine?" She asked Alejo and Efos, thoroughly enjoying herself.
The Queen heard the exchange between her two children to her right. She turned her gaze towards them and raised an eyebrow, "Is everything alright?" She asked, feigning concern. But it was clear that what she actually meant was "please behave we have guests". Though she knew the true reason her husband had planned this dinner, she genuinely wanted to use it as an opportunity to thank the gracelings for all they do for the royal family. Though she may not like how they got there, she was very thankful for each and every one of them and she didn't want her children to ruin the feast with bad attitudes.
Kenna took small, delicate bites of her food, wanting to make a good first impression. In between bites she studied the room. Across from her were some very good looking prospects, in addition to Jackson. She gave them soft smiles, then looked down in a shy manner.

Luna shook her head then sat silently realizing she may have went out of term. Honestly sometimes she hated being a princess, others she loved it but when her mom got onto her well not got on to her but asked the question as a way to stop them she decided it was best to follow the ways of a princess and be polite but part of her also wanted to thank them but honestly she was a little nervous she may get on her dad's bad side so instead she sat silently albeit fidgety because of wanting to thank them truly.

(Girl it's 11 pm why ya curling your hair)
Efos have Valcory a sideways glance, taking a sip of her water, as the servants had refused to give her wine due to her healing, as though it would somehow hinder it. "I've been to plenty of feasts." She said defensively, stopping the urge to cross her arms over chest. "Just never at the table," she mumbled the last bit, looking away from Valcory and and to Tristan for some reassurance. She wished she could talk to him; it was weird for him to being standing guard over an event in which she was a guest. It made her stomach prickle with discomfort and she wished to never be in the situation again. Glancing at Hava, she simply smiled in agreement, finding happiness in the look of joy on her friend's face.

Alejo nodded in response to Hava's question. He had never had never tasted food as good this. He usually opted to stay on guard duty during the feasts but decided it would be important during this period of unrest to give off the appearance he was not concerned anything would happen. He watched with intense interest the small squabble of the two royal children across from him.

Vetiver dug into the food, loving every bite. He liked the social aspect, but the best part was certainly enjoying the hard work of the castle's cooks. He'd have to thank them next time he snuck into the kitchen for a snack. He noticed Kenna smiling across the table and smiled back with a small wave. Vetiver wasn't much of a flirt himself, and he was pretty oblivious to others' advances, but he was always up for meeting someone new.
"We're fine," Alexander muttered, knowing that his mother wasn't a fan of their arguing. He sent Luna a glare and sighed, eating the food he was given. As much as he wished he didn't have to, he was going to behave. As soon as this ended, he could go back to being a troublemaker again. "The food's good, at least."

(I'm going to a breakfast thing tomorrow morning and ya girl wants to look good xD but my hair takes forever to curl so I did it tonight so I don't have to wake up as early in the morning)
Once everyone had finished eating, the king stood once again, "Now that we have all had our fill, I have a surprise for you. I have arranged for some musicians to come, and we are going to have the opportunity to do some dancing," just as he said this, a quartet of musicians came in--all graced with some type of musical ability--and set up on the far side of the room, where the floor had been cleared to allow room for the guests to dance. It of course was no ball, but he figured it would help raise their spirits. The musicians quickly struck up a playful tune that was perfect for dancing. The king reached his hand out to his queen and led her to the dance floor, where they began the dance and waited for others to follow (by dance I mean like pride and prejudice type dancing. I appologize for my failure to stick to one time period for this haha)

Lucy remained as far away from the festivities as she could in the moment in time. No way was she dancing with anyone, not that she didn't know how but everyone here was either loyal to the king or was the king. So as she sat in her corner she closed her eyes and imagined her garden instead the sweet perfume smell and the beautiful colors now this, this made her smile.

Alejo decided not to dance. It wasn't that he couldn't - he had extensively studied and practiced court etiquette as he was expected to be at his King's side at all times - he just wanted to hang back to see if anyone would approach him. Otherwise he would prefer to check on the guards.

(I feel. Except my hair is shorter than short bc military)
Efos mouth literally dropped at the announcement. Oh. Oh this was going to be so fun to watch. Resting her chin on her two fists, the guard watched eagerly as everyone would no doubt have to be paired up, afraid to refuse the King. Luckily, she had an excuse and was dismissed as being too weak to dance. Besides, the only person she would want to dance with was on the other side of the hall in armor. This actually made her a little sad. A chance to dance with Tristan would have made her die of giddiness and glee. Oh well. She was content watching the flustered Gracelings and royals.

Luna didn't really want to dance but had no honest choice and got ready to begin. She absolutely despises dancing but it was her father asking so she had no say in it what so ever and soon the dancing had begun and she was stuck and miserable not that she'd show it. Her room seemed like a lovely idea after this and it is where she would go after this horrible ordeal, if it ever ended.

(wait! You're in the military?)
When Tristan saw that Efos would be unable to dance, he gestured discreetly for her to come stand by him. Perhaps the two could talk while the others danced. Besides, if everyone was busy dancing, they would probably not even notice the two of them.

Hava's face lit up at the mention of dancing. She loved dancing, and wanted desperately to dance with Vetiver, but she was afraid that it might seem to forward to ask him to dance, and she didn't want to risk it messing anything up between the two of them. So instead, she turned to Alejo. He was the closest man to her anyways. "Would you like to dance?" She asked with a smile. A part of her was also determined to make sure the solemn guard had fun tonight, so she figured it couldn't hurt to ask.
Kenna glanced around the room for a potential partner. She wanted to dance with Jackson, but she also wanted to make him jealous. So she walked over to Vetiver who just so happened to be standing near the prince, and curtsied, introducing herself to the medic.

(Yup! Army national guard yo holla)
It took Efos a moment to catch her friend's gesture, and twice as long to comprehend it. Nodding, she stood slowly, bracing herself against the chair as black spots danced in her vision again. When would that stop happening? It was getting on her nerves. Flashing Hava a thumbs up as she asked Alejo, the girl miraculously managed to cross the hall without being asked to dance and without tripping. Having to hike up her dress as she walked, Efos had quickly scurried to stand beside Tristan, dropping her skirt and leaning heavily against the pillar behind them, wiping her forehead. "Enjoying guard duty?" She teased lightly, her voice breathless after the endeavour.

Vetiver's face brightened at the announcement. He always loved dancing, and he hadn't really talked to Hava all night, so maybe dancing with her would be a good opportunity to tell her how nice she looked. But he was approached by the woman he'd seen across the table, and being the social man he was, he was happy to dance with her as well. Hava could wait for now. "I'm Vetiver," He said with a bow and grin. "It's wonderful to meet you. Would you like to dance?"

(that's so cool!! thanks for your service ^^)
Tristan held his breath as he watched Efos walk towards him. She may not have seemed as graceful as some of the other girls, but he thought she was just perfect. When she finally stood next to him, he gave her one of his genuinely happy smiles, "You, uh, you look great," He stumbled, unsure what to say to impress her. "Guard duty isn't too bad. Although I wish I could ask you to dance," He joked as looked towards the dance floor.

(haha its all good. maybe jackson can cut in or something? or he can stay back. whatever pleases his royal highness (; )
Kenna grinned at his offer, then glanced over at Jackson out of the corner of her eye to see if he was looking. "That would be lovely." She said, offering him her hand so he could lead her to the dance floor.
Hava smiled and stood, taking his hand and pulled him to the dance floor. They were currently doing one of her favorite dances and she couldn't wait to get out there.

(Aw thank you! You're so sweet)
Efos puffed up at the compliment. It was probably the first time he had seen her in clothing that wasn't disgustingly plain or dirty, and she had managed to make him stumble for words. What a confidence boost. Then he had to say that, and her heart practically stopped. He would ask her to dance? That's absured. She must have heard him wrong. Perhaps it was a joke. Yes, it must be a joke. The boy she sparred with didn't want to waltz with her "Its for the best. I'd just step all over your toes." She managed to squeak a reply, tucking a stray strand of hair away.

Tristan smirked and raised an eyebrow at that. “I fractured two of your ribs, and you’re worried about stepping on my toes?” he asked, his eyes sparkling with laughter. “I may not have your grace of painlessness, but I think I could manage to handle it,” he joked.

Vetiver lead her to the dance floor where he began to dance with her. "You look lovely," He complimented. "I'm a medic here, in case you didn't know. And how about you?" He asked. It was easy to tell she was a noblewoman, but he liked to keep up the conversation. It could be awkward dancing with a stranger without it.
Alexander didn't particularly want to dance. He was good at it, he'd been required to learn as a child, but he didn't really like his partner options. He saw his brother Jackson standing off to the side as well and sighed. Alex knew his brother well enough that it was clear from Jackson's expression that he was a little upset about the girl he was lusting after dancing with someone else.
