Efos voice sounded strained as she spoke, her lungs not yet working to their full capacity. That must have been a really good punch. It probably would have sent any normal soldier down for the count. "Tristan, I'm fine, let me down." She argued, twisting in his grip as she attempted to break free. Why was he so strong? And tall? She was so high off the ground right now; is this how normal people see the world? While his concern was touching, Efos didn't deserve it. She asked him to not hold back, and he had simply obeyed. Plus, she couldn't feel a single strike. There's no way something was seriously wrong with her; there wasn't even any blood! Besides the blood no doubt coming from his knuckles. "Tristan, put me down, that's an order." Her tone was harder now as she pulled rank, curious if he would comply, as she had never really ordered him to do something before. Tristan clenched his jaw at her order, but he continued walking. He made his way through the castle until he made it to the medic room. He walked through the door and laid her down gently on one of the beds. “We were sparring and I...lost control.” He explained to Hava. The healer shot up from her chair and rushed to the bed. Her nimble hands felt Efos’s body with care. “She has two fractured ribs” she stated. Hava placed her hands on the girls ribcage to begin the healing process. Tristan bit his lip, ashamed. “I’m so sorry Efos...”

Alejo walked through the corridors of the castle to the armory. It had been the last place he had seen Tristan. Not seeing him there he decided to check the medic room. It was possible the guard had injured himself. He briskly walked to his destination.

The noted the way that the man kneaded the dough, and her eye brows raised up. "Doesn't that hurt ? " She inquired, studying the technique that he used. She flinched and almost dropped the coin pruse when he tossed it to her, blushing at her blunder. "Thank you. Sorry to trouble you." She looked down, taking another nibble at her muffin. "This muffin is fantastic." She noted.

Efos sighed as Tristan set her down on the bed, throwing her head back in annoyance. "Unless You're apologizing for ignoring the order to put me down, stop saying sorry." She replied perhaps too harshly. Really, she just felt bad that he looked so ashamed, like a kicked puppy. "I told you not to hold back." She grumbled, turning away with red cheeks, a scar beneath her eye highlighted against the rouge.
Sitting up now, Efos began to push the healers hands away from her. "Really, Heva, it's okay, I'm fine." She argued, shivering at her cold finger tips. "Don't waste your energy on me. I'm sure someone else needs it." She said quietly, almost whispered it, to the healer. It wasn't common for Efos to refuse treatment, and for some reason in the presence of Tristan, she was refusing it more fervently than usual.

Hava tried to force the girl to lay back down, “Pleasae Efos, I need you to cooperate. You cannot be moving right now.” She said firmly. But the girl wouldn’t listen. Hava looked back to Tristan, and gave a small nod towards Efos. Luckily, he understood.
Tristan came over to the bed and gently grabbed Efos’s shoulders, laying her down so Hava could do her work, his eyes begging her to stay still. Then, he heard a noise at the door. When he looked up, he saw that Alejos was standing in the doorway, “Not now,” he said through gritted teeth.

Alejo looked around the room and saw Efos laying in one of the beds. "What happened to her?" He had a right to know what was wrong. As the king's favorite guard he held the highest position within the Guard's hierarchy.

Attai shook her head. "I doubt my parents would approve of me going away." She tucked her hair behind her ear. "They are so protective of me." She rolled here eyes, irritation lacing every word. The thought of running away had never crossed her mind, her parents would worry day after day about her, and she felt as though she could never cause such pain and heartache. "I wish I could go with you." After the words were already out of her mouth, she blushed. Something about Jax just drew her in, making her want more. { mourningdove should I post a starter with James?}

Looking into his eyes, Efos felt awful. Hesitantly, she leaned back into the bed again, deciding she would lie there forma week if it got that look out of his eyes. She glanced at his grip on her shoulders. It was gentle again, like when he was wrapping her hands. She wondered how someone who could do this much damage with their hands could be so gentle with them as well. Maybe he practiced that?
Turning as Alejo walked in, she wondered why there was a sudden tension in Tristan' s shoulders. "Just some rough sparring." She replied, glancing at the guard that out ranked, and quite frankly terrified, her. "Why are you here? Do you need us?"

Mirai thanked the man and then walked out of the bakery and into the street. Still nibblng on her muffin, she headed back to the castle. She entered the courtyard, breathing in the air with relish. Life was a beautiful thing.

(you can either have your prince interact with kenna and/or the queen interact with zani and bring the young graceling!)
Lady Kenna steppes our of her carriage, and made her way into the palace. The footmen took her things to her room, while she went directly to the King’s courtroom. When she stood before the king and his family, she gave a soft smile and curtsied. “Your Highness, thank you for hosting me for these next few months. My family is grateful for this opportunity for me to be a part of court life. I promise I will not disappoint.” She said eloquently.
The king gave the girl a curt nod. “Welcome. We are glad to be graced by such a...lovely presence. I trust that your stay here will be most pleasant.” The king states simply.

Alejo was surprised Tristan had injured her. The guard had no issues holding back. "I see. I was hoping to borrow you Tristan. I need your assistance for something." While he normally disliked having to ask others for help if it was for the sake of his king he had no qualms doing so.

He couldn’t imagine living a life of fear that one would be taken away from their home and forced to live under a tyrant king. “What’s it like? Your life, I mean. What do you do all day?” he asked, genuinely curious, since she had to keep hidden.

Michai laughed as Lola took his hand, leading him to the king. It had been a while since he used his mind control on anyone, and for it to work so smoothly made his heart beat fast with thrill. "I wonder if he's in a good mood today." The little boy seemed to skip down the hall with glee. "Maybe we'll play a game. Or maybe he'll take me on an adventure outside of the castle!" Michai squeezed Lolas hand.
James rolled over, the afternoon sun disturbing his rest. "Gosh dang it." He cursed under his breath as he felt his feet stick out of the little blanket he was so warmly wrapped up in. "I cant seem to ever get a good nights rest anymore." He looked over at Rork and smiled. He was thankful to have his best friend with him.

Can’t it wait?” he asked. “I’m kinda busy right now. What do you need me for?” He didn’t want to leave Efos until she was completely healed. And maybe not even then. Hava glanced over at Alejo, unsure if she should interject. She decided against it and instead focused on healing Efos. The healer had fixed on of the ribs and had moved on to the next one. Her hands had begun to shake—healing bones took a lot out of her.

Attai took a deep breath. "I occupy myself around my home usually. Today is the first day in a long time that my parents have let me out. She tucked her book under her arm and fumbeled around with her dress. "I usually just help with the farm animals; looking after the pigs, cows, goats, chickens and horses. Riding horses is a good way to pass my time." She looked up at Jax, as his eyes flooded with compassion, her heart skipped a beat. "When they let me out, I like to read." She showed him the book. It was her only book, one she had read many times since she was a little girl. It was tattered and fallling apart, tears staining each page. "It such a lovely book." She looked up into the eyes of Jax, a soft smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.

Efos looked at Tristian in disbelief. When he ignored her orders, it was fine, as she wasn't that much of a higher rank then him, but this was the highest member in the guard. Did he have a death wish? She looked at him sternly, showing that she believed he should leave. Besides, she wasn't a child afraid of the doctor, she would be fine on her own. Even if she would rather be around Tristan.
Rork grumbled at the sunlight and sound of his friends voice. "Well, I can." He argued sleepily, pulling the cloak he was using as a blanket tighter around him. Just because James couldn't get some rest didn't mean he had to go around like a sleepless corpse as well.

Seeing that he didn't have much of an option, Tristan agreed, "Fine." Then he turned to look at Efos. "Promise me you'll cooperate with Hava?" He asked as he stood up. When he was confident she would be alright, he walked over to Alejo, his face like stone. "This better be good." He grunted.
Lola giggled at the little boy's excitement, genuinely hoping for his sake that the king would entertain at least one of Michai's wishes. They entered the courtroom, where the king was speaking with a visiting noble girl. She whispered to Michai that they should wait until the king is finished to speak to him, and they stood to the side, near the wall.
Jax's face lit up at the mention of horses. "You ride?" He asked. He loved horses. In fact he had one of his own, a pretty bay mare that doubled as a cart pulling horse. "You should meet my horse, Aliba! I bet you'd love her." He said with a smile. Then he looked at the book, which made him a little less confident. He had never learned to read. "I bet it's a wonderful book,"

(Ooo alejo get himmm)
Efos gave him a small encouraging smile, silently promising that she would cooperate. Only because he asked so kindly. Watching him go, she sighed deeply, wishing he didn't have to leave. At least now she felt like she could properly breathe again. Perhaps that should be accredited to the healer fixing her ribs, though. "You're exhuasted," she noted, he voice full of sympathy. "What can I do to help?" The girl asked, desperate to return the debt and help the healer regain her strength once her job was done.

Alejo managed to regain his composure and calmly responded "I need to raise a certain Graceling to become a loyal servant to the king. I imagine he wishes to eventually have her become a member of the Guard. As it stands some of it's members are lacking." He paused to make it clear he was talking about Tristan before continuing "I have no knowledge of how to fight unarmed except while using my grace. In order to create a way of combat suitable for her I'll need your help."

Hava gave Efos a weak smile, "I'm fine. You're almost completely healed." She said. "Just a few more minutes." Then, Alejo's words caught her attention. He was talking about Rivi. She removed her hands from Efos's ribcage for a moment to listen to the rest of Alejo's conversation.
Tristan's jaw locked in place, anger filling his eyes. His hatred for Alejo was growing. In all honesty, the last thing he wanted to do was help the arrogant, selfish fool. But he didn't have much of an option. "Fine. I'll teach the girl to fight. What's her grace?"

"Her grace is to create fire from her hands. As it stands she has poor control over it. It also comes with some blowback. Just yesterday I had to bring her here for treatment." Alejo answered calmly. Alejo was careful not to say anything more about Tristan. He didn't want to have to discipline him.
