About the Artist G'day forums! I'm Dingo, and this gallery is probably the most interesting thing about me. I am an aspiring artist and writer, and decided to create this gallery in oder to both improve and to flesh out the more important of my stories. You've probably seen me around before, posting a scattering of digital art and the occasional fan fiction, but I prefer to draw traditionally. I'm currently working on both a graphic novel and a full-length novel, both of which will feature heavily in this gallery.
As for me, well, I'm female, of legal drinking age, and live in Australia. Creating has always been my passion, whether it be by writing or drawing (usually a bit of both). I graduated school this year, and will be taking a year off to travel before commenting further studies in 2019. I enjoy the outdoors and love hiking and camping. I enjoy snowsports, archery and tennis (watching it, not playing it). I like rock music, baking and Italian food. I am ridiculously short. I love to talk, so if you have any questions, ask away!
About the Gallery This gallery was created with a single goal in mind - to complete a drawing challenge I discovered online. Said challenge involves doing a drawing a day for 365 days. I decided to up the ante a little bit, and have compelled a list of songs and quotes. Each one will be used to inspire a different drawing. Naturally, this is a huge undertaking, but by the end of it, I hope to have 365 completed drawings, each related to one of the stories I am currently working on, inspired by 365 different songs/quotes.
You can find the list of songs below, as well as a bit of information on each of the stories I am currently working on and are slated to appear in this little undertaking of mine. Naturally, I hope to improve quite a bit over the course of the year, so hopefully you'll see my art change from being somewhat mediocre to a little less somewhat mediocre. I know that drawing every single day might not be practical, but I am determined to get 365 drawings out of this, so if I miss a day, I will either do two the next day or catch up on the missed days at the end, whatever seems more practical. I hope, however, the I will be able to fit drawing into my everyday life, which hopefully means I'll get to draw in some pretty cool places over the course of the year. You can follow my more mundane adventures (like finding good places to sit and draw) over on my Tumblr page, if thats the kind of thing you're interested in.
For the duration of this challenge, I will be drawing in an A5 Hahnemuhle watercolour sketchbook, aided by watercolour paints, ink and artline fineline pens.

The Projects Tigerlily Aketo is murdered, and the world changes overnight. The Equinox approaches, and the balance between Ma'at and Chaos is shattered. The Mad King will return to reclaim his birthright and will bathe the world in blood. After the premature death of her sister, Lady Nefertiti, heir to the throne, is forced to flee her homeland and is desperate to avenge her. Aided by a magician, a soldier with a knack for pyrotechnics, an assassin-turned-treasure hunter, a bartender desperate for adventure and a philosophical bandit, she is hopelessly underprepared to face the world of gods and monsters she's stumbled into. Faced with an impossible quest, a psychotic undead ancestor and a bloodthirsty patron goddess, Nefertiti must decide - and quickly - how much of herself she is willing to sacrifice for vengeance.
Out of all my stories, this one is probably the most important to me. The aforementioned graphic novel I'm slowly but surely working on! Pages are released every Sunday, and can be read here -> link
Corvidae;; (icon coming soon!) WIP! More soon!
What originally started out as a plan for a novel, it evolved into plans for an art book exploring Australian urban legends.
Swifteyes the Hunter deals in death and retribution. Captain of the Razor's Creek wolves, she is certain of the world and her place in it. When the secrets that her mother died to protect come to light, she finds herself without a home, without a unit, unprepared for the first time in her career. She sets out across the mountains in search of the humans who abandoned her with only one goal in mind; destroy those who took her life from her...
I keep poking at this, hoping to iron out the kinks in the plotline. I suppose it will eventually become a full length novel, involving science fiction, war and some genetically modified wolves.

Hold on to me, Cause I'm a little unsteady... - Unsteady, X Ambassadors
Kicking off 2018 with my girls! A big part of the storyline, and indeed their relationship, is how much Nefertiti and tiger lily love and support one another. They mean so much to one another, in every sense of the word. Maybe their reliance on each other is a little unhealthy, but it remains a key feature of the story.
So, this is the first drawing for my undertaking of the '365 Days of Drawing' challenge, and clearly, my inking skills need to be further developed, but that is the entire point of this challenge. I have a starting point, and I can't wait to see how much I improve over the course of the year. My musical inspiration for todays sister hug was 'Unsteady' by X Ambassadors, which always hits me right in the feels. I will forever associate it with these two, now.
Also hands are the bane of my existence.
You say that I should travel Well, that's what I'm gonna do... - Five Bells, CoCo & The Butterfields
Day two! I think the inking on this one is better, but I'm still trying to work out how to fit my sketchbook into my scanner. Anyway, Nefertiti enjoys her alone time, and her room has an excellent view. The constant mental battle with a goddess leaves her in an unstable place, and the view out her window often provides an escape. And yes, she is definitely the type of person (cat???) to wear those hipster 'I need space' pyjamas.
![](https://imgur.com/hLXypgJ.png) I love a sunburned country A land of sweeping plains Of ragged mountain ranges Of droughts and flooding rains - My Country, Dorothea Mackellar
Day three, featuring the official beginning of the Australian Outback. This is some simple concept art for 'Where The Road Ends', the majority of which takes place - you guessed it - in the Outback. That sign really exists, and the road out there is little more than the path through the dust. When I manage to locate my watercolours, I'd love to slap some colour on this in the future...
Oh, no use to stop and stare And if you don't know where you're going Any road will get you there - Any Road, George Harrison
More concept art for 'Where The Road Ends'
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings And desire and love and empty things Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days - Better Days, Goo Goo Dolls
And we're back on track! Nefertiti with the two most important people in her life, Tigerlily (left) and Diablo (right). It was such a treat to draw happy characters. I like to torture my OC's, so it was nice to draw them smiling. And Diablo looks younger than he should, but oh well. The three of them have always been intricately close-knit, and at times it's hard to seperate them from one another. Despite that, they're exceptionally good at keeping secrets from one another.
I apologise for the iffy quality of the photo. sketchbook still refuses to play nice with my scanner.
![](https://imgur.com/F76YDI1.png) And if you fall pick yourself up off the floor And when your bones can't take no more Just remember what you're here for Cause I'm damn sure - The Fighter, Gym Class Heroes
Something semi-actiony today! It looks like our heroine is in a bit of trouble... Don't worry, though, I'm sure she'll be fine. The other guy is Seth. He's technically the villain. He also doesn't believe in shirts. Really, he lived several generations before Nefertiti did, and the dress code back then was a lot more traditional than it is in Nefertiti's time. I made a couple of mistakes with the inking on this one, and perspective is hard, but overall I like how it turned out.
![](https://imgur.com/1v7p27X.png) "These 'lone wolves', people like to call them you've got to look at them not like a lone wolf but an individual operator who's been convinced in their head, brainwashed, whatever, that this is the way to go. And they will cary out their assaults systematically throughout." - Marcus Luttrell
I haven't drawn wolves in forever, but I think this turned out ok. Swifteyes the Hunter is a character I adore, and continue to poke at occasionally. She's a government experiment, a genetically modified soldier created in order to reduce the amount of human casualties in war. She was exceptionally good at her job. A little too good, in fact, and it eventually broke her. She's violent and obsessive, and her desire for revenge may be her downfall.
![](https://imgur.com/JolShLI.png) The Oodnadatta Track is an unsealed 617 km outback road through South Australia, and a likely setting for 'Where The Road Ends'. While the town of William Creek has grown significantly since this particular sign was erected, it, like most outback towns, is still incredibly small, and is the kind of place, I imagine, where strange things can happen...
Evidently, when I have no idea what to draw, I start doodling retro signs.
When you try your best but you don't succeed When you get what you want but not what you need When you feel so tired but you can't sleep Stuck in reverse - Fix You, Coldplay
Otto doesn't sleep. He's haunted by the things he'd done and the things he will have to do in order to stay alive. Such is the life of an assassin. And when he can't sleep, he works obsessively, pouring over history and everything in it. That being said, the only thing he dislikes more than other people is said people interrupting him and telling him to go to sleep. It is this obsessive knowledge of the stranger events of history that eventually leads to him meeting the other main characters, and is probably the only reason they tolerate him. He's not a pleasant person to hang around.
You made me a, you made me a believer, believer (Pain, pain) You break me down, you build me up, believer, believer (Pain) I let the bullets fly, oh let them rain My life, my love, my drive, it came from (Pain) You made me a, you made me a believer, believer - Believer, Imagine Dragons
Fanfiction is my guilty pleasure. Here's a (rather dark) scene from the Warrior Cats fic I write. The main character, Stormkit, was stolen from his clan at a young age and raised by a barbaric warlord known only as 'The Overlord' and his murderous following. In time, Stormkit is returned to his clan with the sole purpose of destroying it from the inside. In order to do so, however, he was taught to kill.
They say before you start a war You better know what you're fighting for - Angel With A Shotgun, The Cab
Young Shade, newly missing an eye. Before the main events of the comic, Shade was a soldier, whose technical role was 'demolitions technician'. Unlike most of his unit, however, his heart was never really behind the cause. After loosing the eye and witnessing the death of his partner, he was honourably discharged and settled down in a more peaceful occupation - until Nefertiti came knocking.
Those charcoal markings brutally murdered my thickest fine-liner. Good thing I ordered a new set the other day.
![](https://imgur.com/VU6AIi4.png) "The word liminal comes from the Latin word limen, meaning threshold – any point or place of entering or beginning. A liminal space is the time between the ‘what was’ and the ‘next.’ It is a place of transition, waiting, and not knowing."
The 'Where The Road Ends' project draws heavily on the idea of liminal space, and the things that change within them. So, enjoy a slightly surreal transitional landscape. The Outback is a vast, mostly empty space. In more ways than one, it is the most liminal space of all.
![](https://imgur.com/cMdamQ6.png) Yet another sign. A couple of friends are rather intrigued by them, so I keep drawing them. Anyway, the Dog Fence divides the north from the south, keeping dingoes contained in the Northern parts of the country, away from the sheep stations in the south. The fence runs through parts of South Australia, and is probably close enough to the Oodnadatta Track for the 'WTRE' characters to visit.
For, uh, storytelling purposes.
Day 14 will not be posted to the forums due to mature content. It can be found on my Deviantart page instead.
![](https://imgur.com/2mrKIqP.png)
Out there's a world that calls for me, girl Headin' out into the unknown Wayfarin' strangers and all kinds of danger Please don't say I'm going alone
To the ends of the earth would you follow me? - Ends of the Earth, Lord Huron One of the highlights of having a comic set primarily in the desert is I get to draw all these crazy landmarks. The further you go, the more wasteland-like it becomes, but occasionally, there are interesting things to stumble across. I imagine that in a barren landscape, landmarks like these are incredibly significant to the bandit tribes that occupy the area. They're akin to gateways, and gateways always lead somewhere. Squeezed as much of the cast in there as I could - Jax and Gjin right up in the background, Otto in the middle, then Shade and Diablo bringing up the rear. Nefertiti should be in there somewhere - let's pretend that she's way up ahead, 'off screen'.
No inking detail on this, because when I move house and get to unpack all the art supplies I've accumulated over the years, I fully intend on painting this.
![](https://imgur.com/POI3R1p.png)
Two roads diverged in a wood And I - I took the one less travelled by And that has made all the difference - Robert Frost Been absent for a while, holidaying and watching the Australian Open, so I had no interest for a couple of days. Gotta upload all the things I drew. This is something else I'll be painting once I move house.

I'm a little bit behind at the moment, but I hope to get back on track today! It's been a challenge of late - its hard sometimes to fit enough time in my day to draw. It is helping with my procrastination, however!

I'm really bad at remembering to upload things in more than one place. I'm trying to be more on top of all the things I'm committed to. So, huge dump of an update. That reminds me - I've got another one to post here, too.
Thank you so much! <3 I was originally using 'Artline: Drawing System' pens, but I recently switched to a brand called Unipin. I've got a set of fineliners of varying thicknesses. They're much darker than the old ones I was using, so needless to say, I like them very much.
