Baby Mira is growing up!
Since this is kind of a filler chapter to explain a time jump, I'm hoping that I'll be able to have chapter three up tomorrow. It's currently half written and I'll have some time to kill before I go to a New Year's Eve party tonight, so fingers crossed.

Great new chapter! I love the way you touched on the dualistic nature of healing and poison, and that consideration seems like exactly the sort of thing that would cross Mira's mind XD. Moving in with Jasper is also some interesting character development both for Mira and Amory, I'm excited to see where that'll go!

I'm glad you like it! And yeah, I've always been surprised that there hasn't been an evil medicine cat in the actual Warriors universe yet, because it seems like such a good place to be if you want power and also to be able to deal with people who disagree with you. Because A) arguably, the leader trusts you above all else or at least should, and  you could kill people under the guise of them dying from illness or wounds. |

Hahaha I know right! I hadn't though of it until you did here, but it's such an interesting concept! Though perhaps there were a few evil medicine cats, we just haven't found them yet...  It reminds me of a book series I read, Assassin's Apprentice. By the title I suppose you can tell it was on the flip side, where the main character was an assassin as it was, but they did poke at that balance between healing and poison, life and death, and just how fragile that difference can be. I've been contemplating this myself in real life as well. Several people I care about have struggled with depression, and I've seen how certain medications could be a godsend if it was right, but I've also seen how it could just make them freeze up in a miserable machine state, or even drive them down to madness and agony. It's a delicate balance, and even when people have the best intentions, things go wrong. Having a true understanding of medicine really requires a sense for the person you're dealing with, and that's a fine power in and of itself... At the same time though, it's easy to mess up if you don't have that finesse. Something that seems so good and pure has such grave pitfalls, and it's scary to contemplate that gamble. Everything comes at a cost... Whenever something seems too good to be true, it might be, but it certainly has an equal dark side lying underneath. |

this has been amazing so far, Swift! I adore the characterisation of everyone. Your descriptions of emotions are wonderful - I can relate to (almost) everything Mira is feeling, and it makes for a really engaging read. Not to mention I love your almost poetic writing style! Can't wait for the next chapter!

I read the part where Mira contemplated poisoning her sister’s crush and was like ‘no no no, don’t do that’ but I can’t help but love her.

I added a playlist section if anyone is interested. Not all of the music is "on theme", so to speak, but it's what I listen to while I work on this.
Also, I'm hoping that chapter three will be up to tomorrow! This is the final one before we truly see Mira go dark.

Heh, well, when I listen to any randm music, I suddenly find out that it become the theme. @.@ It's weird. Not unwelcome. Just weird.
So now that I'm writing about my OC, I'm listening to Safe Nightcored and a bunch of other stuff. And slowly they're starting to fit the plot.
