{ lmao "broke as hell but chill" big mood whenever i buy anything honestly }
Jacen didn't quite comprehend the look that was sent his way, but decided not to ask. He'd probably run his mouth enough as it is. He'd never been particularly good at keeping his thoughts to himself, but he liked to think that he'd gotten better at thinking before he spoke after getting into his gang. He never would've been able to work his way up if he hadn't learned to keep his mouth shut.
Though he supposed that he might have let himself go again after taking over the gang. After all, there was no one there now who could admonish him for speaking out of turn or accidentally saying something offensive. Except maybe Daehyun.
"Oh. Ok. Sure I'll come. If you want me there, that is." It occurred to him that Price may not want him around while he worked and that he might have accidentally invited himself, which was not something he was hoping to do. That was annoying. He didn't want to be more annoying than he likely already was. He was already in debt, it's not as if he wants Price to hate him on top of that.
At the mention of food, Jacen perked up slightly. He hadn't wanted to ask for food himself and had figured that he would have to risk heading out to store to stock up on some items, but now Price was offering. Problem solved. "Yes, please. Instant noodles are fine." He put a smile on his face again, an easy way to establish goodwill. "I did notice that you don't seem to have many options. Maybe that's something I could help with. Grocery shopping?"

[ im always broke and only sometimes chill haha me: can i afford this my bank: no? me: i bought it ]
The sound of the water boiling behind him was a rather calming one, and he took a moment to be amused at the pure domesticity of this whole situation. Park inviting himself along was...it was oddly familiar. He supposed that some of the other gang members often did it when he was doing something, and unless he said explicitly that they couldn't come, then he was often stuck with a talkative person of some description. He wondered if that was how this man was going to be, and couldn't quite find it in himself to be irritated. Cai was often more patient than people expected him to be.
"Sure, you can come." his shoulders lifted in a shrug as he stood up straight again.
At the confirmation that instant noodles were fine, he nodded and returned to the stove so that he could cook some. Maybe it was a good thing he always added excess water. He turned his head to look at Park from the corner of his eye, raising an eyebrow as he did so.
"I'm broke," he told him firmly. "Grocery shopping is cheap and usually quick, but if you want to come along then I won't stop you. I'll probably go later today, or something," he poked the noodles around with his spoon, humming lowly. "You seem restless."

{ lol tooo real } { honestly the more useless the thing the more inclined i am to buy it i am the worst when it comes to impulsive shopping }
His fingers kept tapping out an anxious rhythm even as Price showed himself to be indifferent to Jacen wanting to tag along to the warehouse the next day. No annoyance, no irritation, at least none that he could see. A careful smile found its way to his lips, but he let it fall after only a few seconds. He still didn't know Price well enough to know what irritation looked like on him. For all he knew, it was still stirring beneath the other's skin.
"Restless." He repeated quietly, frowning slightly. "Yeah, I supposed I am. Still trying to process what's happening, I guess." He stood, reaching his arms above him to stretch. Now that Price mentioned it, Jacen was starting to feel a bit antsy. "If you won't mind me tagging along, I'll come. Just...there won't be a lot of people, right?" He wondered if it would be an idiotic move to leave the relative safety of the apartment and head out into a city where he could expect anyone to see his face and recognize him as someone dangerous. Maybe that was what he was starting to resent most about his situation: the fact that anyone who saw that he was wanted would think that he's dangerous in that way. He's only just come to terms with and embraced his soft features as being a good thing by making him look less threatening and now they were taking it away from him again.
Maybe it was a good thing that he had no living family. He couldn't even begin to imagine the disappointment and fatigue in his mother's eyes if she knew what her son had become and he didn't want to think about his sister, who's last words to him were "Get yourself straightened out, Jae, and don't come back until you do."
I need to stop thinking about them. Why can't I stop thinking about them?

[ bruh i im the worst bc i spent my money on a 5-disc cd set (import from jpn) + then an art book. both from the same game. oh and i bought my third copy of that very same game like why am i like this i have no money anymore i did this to myself but i cant even be mad ]
Once the noodles were cooked, Cai put them into two bowls and grabbed forks, before heading back to the main area and giving one to Park before he settled down himself, keeping his bowl in his lap as he waited for his food to cool down. He considered the question carefully, narrowing his eyes at the television in a thoughtful manner.
"I'm probably going while it's still light, so no," he shook his head. "The store near here is usually empty, anyway..." he poked more at his food and exhaled softly.
This area was a poor one, and that was something to note. Single parents were a common sight here, and so they often did their grocery shopping in the evening after they'd been working, or they'd do it early in the morning or they'd just do it online. Whatever was easiest and more accessible for them. It wasn't uncommon to see teenagers shopping for their parents, either; but for the most part, people kept to themselves.
"I have a hoodie you can borrow if you're paranoid about someone seeing you." he added this as a sort of afterthought. He wasn't sure if his hoodie would fit Park, but it was worth a try. Cai wasn't beefy, but he was fairly muscular. Not as lean as some, but leaner than others. If his hoodie fit the other man then it was solely through him being wider, rather than anything else - but it was always worth a try.

{ omg that's dedication honestly rip ur bank account } { but i feel i blow my money on physical albums and stuff all the time i'm like i don't even play half of the CDs ever i just keep them around why do i do that }
The bowl of noodles was warm in Jacen's hands and he reveled in the steam rising up from it, sitting back down on the futon as he began twirling the thin strands around his fork. Back when he was still in high school, the teachers always claimed that college life would turn them off from instant noodles forever. He supposed that that was one good thing about never attending college: he never did get sick of these things.
He wouldn't even know what to do with himself if he got up one day and decided that he never wanted to eat instant noodles ever again. It was so efficient. And cheap. And delicious.
"Oh ok. That's good." If the store was empty, there would be no real problem. He'd just have to avoid the employees and avoiding human contact was something he was good at back in the day. "Having a hoodie would be nice. Thank you." The last words came out as a mumble, Jacen having raised a forkful of noodles to his mouth. That was yet another bad habit of his, talking while eating. Daehyun had sent him many a dirty look for doing it during meetings, though there had never been any complaints for the rest of his gang members. Probably because they didn't think it was their place to do so. Oh well.
"When are we leaving? And do you actually watch the news or is the TV just on for the sake of it?" Personally, Jacen didn't watch much on his television at home. He was thinking of retiring it, really, given that all it does all day is sit around and collect dust. He just didn't have much use for it, he supposed. Yet here Price was, with his old rickety TV set, staring at the news as if there was anything interesting on screen.
Well, maybe there was. He wouldn't be able to tell unless it jumped out and bit him in the face.

[ i still have a little bit of money for a) jan sales or b) the jan release of another game but... like... worth. ] [ oh dude yeah, i rarely listen to cds bc i can usually find stuff on yt so...oops ]
Some judged Cai for his lack of anything healthy to eat - and then further became irritated at his lack of ability to put on weight despite the junk food that he ate. Nutrition was replaced by instant noodles and chocolate bars and sometimes cookies or pastries, and, frankly, Tess took more care of him than he would've liked to admit. She'd bring meals for him because she knew how useless he could be in the kitchen. All he knew was how to cook instant noodles and how to use the toaster; both of which were extremely useful to him.
It was less he couldn't do it and more of he didn't feel like it. People of saw Cai as some oddly motivated man - when really, only that which interested him would get his full attention. Feeding himself did not seem to be one of those interests.
"After eating," he said, though his bowl was already half-empty. With the bowl in one hand, he went to his room and grabbed the hoodie (a galaxy one that he'd been gifted a while ago), and walked back out, throwing it in Park's general direction. He sat back down and finished his noodles before he answered the question, his gaze flicking solely to the television.
Perhaps it would've been easier to lie, but he saw no point in it.
"I watch it," he admitted, with a smile that was not quite there. "People think I'm an all-knowing being because I know what's happening in our world. Really, I just watch the news. It's helpful. I actually read the newspaper, too."

{ lololol hey if you believe that it's worth it then it must be so } { yeah...idk why im like this i only listen to music on yt anyways i guess i just like knowing i have the cd option whomst even know }
Jacen had to move his bowl off to the side to avoid any part of the hoodie accidentally landing in the noodle soup, but all those years avoiding things getting thrown at him by his sister and gang members (though nowadays it was really just Daehyun he had to watch out for) had prepared him for this moment. He finished off his noodles and set the bowl on the ground before picking up the hoodie and and slipping it on. It wasn't a bad fit. Maybe a little small, but not noticeable enough for him to care.
"Oh yeah, you were looking at a newspaper earlier, weren't you? I was kind of wondering about that." He picked up the bowl again and wandered over to the kitchen area to place it in the sink. "Man, watching the news and reading newspapers? You're kind of like an old man, aren't you?" There was a teasing quality in his voice that didn't quite reach his features. He was testing the waters, looking to see what he could get away with here, for it was beginning to seem to Jacen that Price wasn't as unapproachable and stiff as he had originally thought.
Of course, he might be wrong, in which case he'd be ready to backpedal and never tease like that again.
He liked to think that that was something he was getting better at, too -- knowing when to stop. He supposed that being in a gang, living under the orders of someone who really did not enjoy his antics for a couple years, really did set him straight. How ironic.

[ woops this took longer than intended orz ahaa, it was 100% worth it oh dude no same yt is like..my life ]
Cai wasn't used to this; being asked about things he did. Even if a gang member crashed, it would only be for a few days maximum - this was semi-permanent until things blew over, until Park found the one framing him, until the police stopped chasing him. It was interesting, but mildly tiring. He stood up and dumped his bowl on the kitchen island for now, before hunting down his bomber jacket. It was somewhere here.
The comment about him being like an old man made him snort softly with some amusement, a smile flickering over his features briefly. He raised an eyebrow and glanced to the other man from the corner of his eye.
"I suppose so," there was a lightness to his tone that wasn't there before - perhaps as a result of being more amused than he had been before. There were very few people who teased him; Tess was, perhaps, one of those few people - but more people were too intimidated or unnerved by him to bother trying. The fact that Park seemed to be trying was amusing in itself, but the comment was a little more so.
He finally found his jacket and shrugged it on, turning off the television.
"We can go now." he said, raising his eyebrows. "If you're ready."

{ yt's honestly my life too i spend like all my spare time on yt or playing yt videos in the background i don't even play video games but i watch people play them on yt }
A smile broke over Jacen's features at the realization that Price wasn't mad at him for the teasing, that there was a certain lightness now to the man's demeanor that there hadn't been before. Teasing was ok, then.
"Sure, let's go."
He pushed himself away from the kitchen counter and headed over to slide on his shoes, opening the door and stepping out to wait for Price outside. Looking down the steps leading up to the small apartment, looking around the dirty street corner and alleyway below, Jacen wondered if the people living in this area were of a tougher breed than the inhabitants of his own territory just because of the neighborhood they lived in. He'd come around these parts when he was younger, in high school, hoping to make a trade-off in a place where nobody would catch him, but he'd never stayed longer than he had to. As a teenager still unaccustomed to gang life, the place had given him the creeps.
Now, at twenty-six years old, running a gang of his own, this area wasn't scary to him anymore. It wasn't scary, but he still always tried to keep away, and not only because it was another gang's territory. He always sent Daehyun here, because he didn't like being reminded of the place that used to be home to so many of the high school bullies that he'd aligned with and helped out for a quick buck back when he was desperate. It reminded him of how he had failed his mother, who'd given up on so much just to give him the chance that he'd thrown away.
"Hm. Lead the way, Price. How far from here?"

nooo no need to apologize lol just glad you told me :') i've been a bad person in the past, used to just disappear on people without telling them, always felt kinda guilty about that oops
are you familiar with Sword Art Online? if you aren't, it's an anime based around the concept that some time in the future virtual reality will really be like reality. People get hooked up to the machine and they enter the virtual world and it works just like the real world, basically. Everything's the same except for the fact that, you know, you have HP and EXP and all that stuff. what if in the future, everything plays out in a virtual world like that? as in, people go into the virtual world as part of daily life, to work, to learn, to fight wars? it's how people stay connected. and idk if you've seen mr. robot, but the basic premise of that is that a hacker (+friends) goes and tries to take down the biggest conglomerate in the world, digitally at first but then they take their antics to the physical world as well. it ends up turning into one of the greatest criminal attacks in world history.
i'm not sure how i want them to fit together, but i think we might be able to combine the two? would be like a crime/fantasy hybrid-ish thing? idk
let me know if you have any other ideas or anything, i'm low on creativity :') }
