Firepaw || Windclan Camp -- { Dagegen5 }
The chill left the poor flame colored apprentice in a shivering state all morning. Leaf-fall just seemed to be his least favorite time of year. It seemed to be even colder than Leafbare itself. The apprentice den hadn't yet been made, considering Rainstar hadn't assigned warriors to do the den yet. Every cat was focused on the camp barrier and the nursery and elders den. Firepaw wasn't surprised- the youngest and oldest deserved the warmth first, despite some cats maybe disagreeing with it.
But there the ginger and white tom sat, where the apprentices usually slept, looking lazily around camp. He twitched his ear and slowly got up. His brother was busy with the molly he knew he liked, so he decided not to bug the two. Hickoryburn was no where to be seen, so the apprentice assumed he wouldn't be training that morning. His green gaze then landed on Bogwhisker. The Windclan warrior was patching up and finishing the nursery. Maybe I can help him. But it does seem like he's finished. Well- it is worth a shot in asking if he needs any assistance. Firepaw thought before slowly climbing to his paws and making his way towards the brown tabby.
Stopping just a tail length behind the other tom, Firepaw twitched his ear. "Morning, Bogwhisker. Hickoryburn didn't give me an assignment today. Mind if I help you patch up the nursery? I mean... Do you need help with that? Because I can. I may be shorter than the warriors, but still bigger than Chickenpaw and Tinypaw." Firepaw offered, hoping his offer wouldn't be turned down.

Everything was going great until Featherpool brought up Hummingfrost and Iceclaw.
The molly felt herself falter in her steps. She had to be careful with what she was going to say. Iceclaw was Featherpool’s littermate. They were family. If Dimheart was to be honest she would more than likely break Featherpool’s heart, and she couldn’t afford to do that.
Instead of mentioning how she felt about Iceclaw’s and Hummingfrost’s relationship, Dimheart formed an answer around the idea of kits. ”WindClan does need new blood, that’s for sure. There are no kits in the nursery right now, so seeing some would boost morale. It would also show that we’ve settled into our new home.” There. That seemed like an adequate response to the medicine cat’s comments. ”It may be better for queens to wait until the weather is warmer before having kits, but I suppose all of that is in StarClan’s paws.” If Hummingfrost and Iceclaw ended up having kits then, despite Dimheart’s opinions on it, she hoped all went well. She also hoped that the kits would all be, to put it frankly, able. She hoped they would be able to hear unlike Iceclaw. As long as they didn’t produce any kits with white fur and blue eyes everything should be fine…
Dimheart shook her head. She didn’t want to think about all of that right now. She would rather think about kits in general and not the kits of a specific pair. ”If kits are born at least we have good medicine cats like yourself.” Warmth flooded the molly’s words as she praised Featherpool. Dimheart believed her statement as well. If any medicine cat could keep kits alive it was Featherpool. The warrior herself had been born in leafbare along with two siblings; she had been the only one to survive. Her two littermates had lost their lives from either the cold or there not being enough prey to keep their mother’s milk production up. Dimheart didn’t remember much of her two brothers, but she knew she had had littermates at one point in her life.

Featherpool narrowed her eyes at the slightest, noticing Dimheart was completely avoiding her question. The talk of kits did leave her nodding slowly, though. Of course kits would be great, and strengthen Windclan. She stopped and turned to face Dimheart completely.
"You didn't answer my question." The gray-black tabby mewed, her blue eyes staring into Dimheart's. She twitched her ears. The fur on her spine began to raise a little as she thought of a possibility as to why the molly she loved so dearly was avoiding it. "You think one of their kits will be deaf, don't you, Dimheart? That's why you're avoiding talking to me about it." Featherpool was on edge, but not to the point where she would snap at Dimheart, no. But maybe. If this ended up being her excuse as to why she avoided the question, she just might get all pissy and turn tail and run back to camp, despite her trouble with breathing.
She remembered her parents apologizing so many times for the wrongs that had happened- apologizing for their birth defects that Starclan had punished them with. It prevented Featherpool from being a warrior, but she believed in her brother- and she knew Iceclaw and Firepaw both would be the best warriors of Windclan one day. Little did she know that Firepaw was to be the leader someday. Featherpool had constantly told them to never apologize, that things happened for a reason. But, with their destiny set out before them by Starclan, the molly with the breathing problem never really listened to them ever. Not since they cursed their family like this.

Featherpool caught her. Dimheart felt her throat go dry. So this was going to happen right now, wasn't it? The molly felt her ears flatten ever so slightly against her head. Dear StarClan, please help!
Being outright about certain things never bothered Dimheart. She could be brisk and blunt, right to the point, but this was a time and subject she didn't want to be blunt about. To cats like Rainstar she could voice her opinions without feeling bad about it. A lot of her opinions could be safe in Featherpool's paws as well, but Dimheart's opinion on the medicine cat's brother? The white-silver molly could already tell that Featherpool was not going to be happy.
The warrior took in a deep breath. There was no sense in being dishonest. That would get them nowhere. It was best to be truthful no matter how much it was going to hurt. In the end a lie would hurt all the more than the truth.
After a moment of stalling Dimheart found her voice.
"It worries me," she admitted slowly, unable to meet Featherpool's gaze. "I'm not sure how likely the chances are, but I'm concerned." There. That was the truth. Maybe, just maybe, if Dimheart was careful enough she wouldn't have to go into detail about her feelings on Iceclaw or even her feelings toward Hummingfrost. Looking up, Dimheart noticed that camp wasn't too far away now. Maybe she could get through this conversation without a hitch and they could settle into camp without any problems. One could only wish.

((Went to make dinner, sorry for the poof!))
Bogwhisker- WindClan Warrior Assisting in the WindClan Camp with Firepaw
Bogwhisker's ears twitched as he heard a voice; he swiveled his head and stared intently at the new arrival, amber eyes glimmering. He was still braced against the younger boughs of the gorse bush, paws working to push them upwards. It took the tom a bit of self control to not fade out of focus when Firepaw began to prattle on about his lack of work and size in comparison to the other apprentices. It wasn't his fault, really; the brown tabby just found it difficult.
The apprentice did have an honest question, one that kept the warrior attentive and the warrior offered a light smile to him. "I... wouldn't mind the help. I'm not quite finished yet," Bogwhisker mewed kindly, doing his best to keep a reasoned expression as he held his position between two branches, "The more paws, the better! There's a lot of thorns, though; you'll have to be careful of your paws." The warrior let go of the two branches he was on and moved a little closer to Firepaw. "Here; put your paws on these two and help me move them up higher," he asked, opening up a space for the smaller apprentice to join him.
Bogwhisker let his fascination of the gorse take over his mind as his mouth let loose his own barrage of words, "This is an absolutely gorgeous gorse bush... We didn't have anything like this in our old territory! I wonder what other plants are here." The brown tabby felt his heart flutter as he inquired, not really expecting an answer.

Featherpool lashed her tail and tried to relax. She was just worried that the clan would have to worry about another white kit that is deaf, trying to prove himself. Snorting, the tabby glared at the molly. She didn't speak, unsure of what to even say at the moment. Did she ask why exactly she feared another deaf kit? Yeah, she wanted to. But she also didn't want to get angry with Dimheart, which seemed almost impossible to her, just because of her feelings. But, she went ahead and did it anyways.
"Do you have a problem with my brother, Dimheart? What about Firepaw, too? He's partially deaf. Sure, he wasn't born that way such as Iceclaw, but he's still young and will pretty much live with it until he's dead." Featherpool asked, her eyes sparking like blue flames in the slightest. The molly tended to be calm and collected, but whenever it came to her siblings, she defended them, no matter to who or for what reason. "Hasn't Iceclaw proved his loyalty as a warrior, and that hes capable?"

Firepaw was rather happy when Bogwhisker let him help. He carefully reared up onto his back paws and helped to push the gorse a little higher, hoping he was doing it right. His mind was more focused on helping than it was on listening to the warrior chat, but he was curious. Bogwhisker found the plants and bushes interesting? Firepaw purred softly, looking out of the corner of his eye to watch the warrior who seemed as focused on the gorse as he had been before.
"It is very pretty. The flowers are gorgeous. I saw some heather bushes yesterday on my hunt, and the flowers had just started dying, but they were such a beautiful purple." Firepaw decided to assist the conversation about the plants, his tail twitching before he manged to push the boughs into place. Hoping back, he sighed. It wasn't a sad sigh, more like a relaxed sigh. Firepaw felt open- not so shy- since Bogwhisker seemed more interested in the flowers and gorse bush than he was in critiquing the apprentice. It made him feel... useful.
That was until his back paw slipped from under him and he landed squarely on a sharp, black thorn. With a yelp of pain, Firepaw bounced up and shook his paw. "Great Starclan! I think I've got a thorn in my paw!" The ginger and white tom whined softly, looking helplessly at the warrior beside him. The thorn made his pad ooze blood, and throb. It was deep, and he couldn't get it out himself.
[ Dagegen5 ;; no worries c': tbh i kinda see a friendship with these two? bogwhisker is really cute omg ]

Bogwhisker- WindClan Warrior Assisting in the WindClan Camp with Firepaw
Bogwhisker felt a warm feeling spread through his chest as Firepaw helped him to lift the boughs over their heads; it was also due, in part, to the comments that the apprentice decided to add to the conversation. The brown tabby's eyes flickered joyfully towards him as he felt his mind swarm with more comments. "Ahh, I would love to see it before it fully dies! Heather has always been one of my favorites," he purred, busily pushing on the boughs until they interlocked with the ones above. Satisfied with their placement, Bogwhisker turned his head to Firepaw with eyes glinting in the shaded den. "Just imagine what this place will be like in Newleaf; it's going to be the best part about moving here, I'm sure of it. Even the grass seems greener here, despite it being Leaf-fall!" The warrior adjusted his paws gingerly as he moved to another set of branches, only to be stopped by the sudden slip and yowl of the smaller apprentice.
At hearing Firepaw's mild yelp as he stumbled, Bogwhisker felt what seemed like his stomach dropping out of his body. He did his best to keep calm as he assessed the situation. "Oh no, are you alr-" the tom stopped mid sentence, cut off by the ginger tom's words. He watched him shake his paw and lift it to reveal a gaping and open wound. Bogwhisker drew in a sharp breath and gently allowed the branches that he had been supporting to relax and lower themselves as he padded closer to Firepaw. Upon inspection, the warrior couldn't help but cringe a little bit; he couldn't see the thorn and hoped dearly that it simply wasn't in the wound. "That looks pretty deep... we should get you to Thornwhisker and Featherpool," he mewed, trying to keep his voice as calm as he could. Bogwhisker was sure that his voice had cracked, however.
He draped his tail over the apprentice's shoulders, trying to lead him away from the nursery for now. "Come on, let's go," he squeaked, trying to not walk faster than Firepaw could manage. Bogwhisker felt horribly guilt-ridden at the incident and dearly hoped that his rambling hadn't managed to distract the younger tom. He fretfully sputtered out what he thought were reassuring words, "It'll be there when we get back; as soon as you get fixed up, we can finish the nursery."
((Cat-daddy, I have Jackal open, but she's slightly outside of the territory! You could have Marsh stumble across her if she decided to leave the camp? That's up to you, of course.
A friendship between these two would be super cute oml. I'm also glad that you think Bogwhisker is cute~ ; ; He's a cinnamon roll.))

This was it. This was going to be the day Dimheart was going to ruin her relationship with Featherpool.
The silver tabby felt her steps falter. This time she actually almost tripped. Steady yourself, she scolded herself harshly. This is the time for the truth. This was bound to happen eventually. That helped Dimheart ever so slightly. She felt herself grow more steady, and after a moment her nerves steeled themselves. She could do this. You can do this.
With a guarded look in her amber eyes, Dimheart turned to look into Featherpool's blue gaze. StarClan, she's so beautiful... And yet she was more than likely about to grow angry. Dimheart wanted to curse herself for being the source of Featherpool's future anger. I'm sorry.
After a moment of looking into the other molly's eyes Dimheart found her voice. "I just don't see how he became a warrior. How can he hear where prey is? I suppose he can feel vibrations, but... And what about ambushes? Those are stealthy attacks. He did fine with the journey, when we were all huddled for shelter, but now we're home, we're spread out now... We're around other Clans, dangerous Clans. Iceclaw has made it this far, but when will his luck run out? And what happens if he has a deaf son or daughter? What if they're not as lucky?" There. She had said it. Dimheart found just enough courage to look into the other molly's eyes once more. Silently she braced herself for whatever Featherpool was going to throw her way.

So sorry for the late reply! I meant to post one last night but for some reason it didn’t get through. Stickfur - Border - Feathertalon Stickfur saw the confusion in Hickoryburn’s green eyes, and felt absolutely terrible for it. He must have made the tom think he was nothing short of a raving lunatic... How stupid of him. Why did he always have to make such a scene? Making a scene wasn’t going to get him anywhere, and it was obvious that he had ruined his friendship-to-be with Hickoryburn that he was anticipating.
“I’m really, really sorry. It just came out, and it happens to everyone.” I hope so... Stickfur doubted his very words but tried to act in a joking manner, as if his random burst of yowling was just simply some sort of cruel prank.
What had he done?? Wanting to shrivel and curl up inside a hole that fit his form perfectly, he smiled awkwardly. Smiling? Oh, great...
Smiling was not appropriate for some situations, as his mother had always told him. She had taught him to only say the right things and to only do what was appropriate for others.
He he broke out of his thoughts for a moment to sniff the air. They were at the border, he noticed after a few seconds of aimless padding around.

[ Dagegen5 && @@negatorri -- sorry it's so short :c Getting kind busy// I also wont be on from janurary 5th to the 8th. I'm going to California with my boyfriend and his family. c': ]
Firepaw looked up at Bogwhisker before slowly nodding his head and carefully limping his way towards the medicine cat den. Sure, the young ginger tom had felt much worse pain. Like the time he had lost his ear and the hearing within due to an infection that neither Thornwhisker nor Featherpool could've stopped from spreading at the time. He limped his way through the mass of cats, watching as the blood dripped onto the ground of the camp. Almost stumbling a losing his footing, he carefully leaned against Bogwhisker and flicked his tail.
"Y'know.. I've felt a lot worse, but pain is something I can never get used to." He mumbled, flicking his ear before glancing into the medicine cat's den. "Thornwhisker? Are you there? I kind of have a problem..." He mumbled softly.
- - -
[ Feathertalon ]
Featherpool carefully straightened up and listened to Dimheart speak. Lashing her tail, she shook her head. "I know you, Dimheart. I know how you wish to be a leader some day. But you can never be a real leader with such little respect for clanmates such as Iceclaw and Firepaw. Sure, they are not perfect but they are just as capable as you and I. Don't you remember why I couldn't be a warrior?" The gray-black furred molly narrowed her eyes and turned around to make her way back to camp. "Iceclaw's senses are much sharper since he can't hear. He uses his scent, sight and the vibrations from the ground to feel whatever he can. He doesn't go into battles alone, especially with an ambush. The others would always have his back. Now, if you can't have my brothers back, you're just as cold and cruel as Rainstar was when he tried refusing a warrior name and status to both of my brothers."
When she was done speaking, Featherpool quickly ran off, racing back to camp. She didn't care if she started wheezing and coughing once she got back, she just didn't want to be around Dimheart at the moment. She hated that no matter what happened, she knew she would still go back to her, despite her not believing in her brother.
