Mercy flinched away, tightly closing his eyes, his heart immediately starting to hammer in his chest as he released a small, panicked whimper. Anywhere but the hair. It was a few moments before he realised cross hadn’t grabbed him, and he very shakily opened his eyes, his frame actually trembling slightly. It had been a power thing- that was why it terrified Mercy so much. He just couldn’t fight back when his hair had been grabbed by malpas, who would drag him around the house, throw him down flights of stairs, kick, punch, slap- everything the fallen could have thought of, he did. Even so much as stroking Mercy’s hair was enough to start off a full blown panic attack.

Cross' frame shuddered slightly, and he started smoking like he did to change back. Iron Maiden's gears snapped angrily, and the smoke immediately stopped. Cross was staring blankly at Mercy. Why was he still there? He wasn't afraid? His gears whirred, communicating with his two elders, who did nothing at first. Then, they turned to leave, very slowly. Turning back to Mercy, he was still for a very long time as he studied him. It took a while, but he started to smoke again, stepping back.

Mercy wrapped his arms around himself, clearly struggling to calm himself down, his body continuing to tremble. He lifted his gaze to watch cross, his heart unable to stop beating as quickly as it was.

Cross had changed back. The changeling vomit wounds translated into a milky-white eye and what looked something like mild burn scars. He stared at Mercy, face unreadable. There for a few minutes, he turned his back to him as the memories came to him. He'd wanted to hurt Mercy. Biting his bottom lip, refusing to look at Mercy, Cross spoke softly after a minute "Why did you seek me out?"

‘I didn’t. I sat and waited.’ Mercy muttered, moving away from cross to stand near Lash, clearly having lost his trust in the other Male. He ran his hands through his hair, trying to calm himself down.

Cross smiled slightly, though it was sad. "Then if you didn't seek me out, I guess I should leave you be." He then moved to start walking off. Cross wasn't going to beg for forgiveness, and there really was nothing he could say to justify why he turned on Mercy, so why bother? That, and he needed to leave anyway before he was found. "Goodbye for now, Mercy."

Instead he turned back to Lash, miserably muttering ‘bye,’ before heading back into the building. ((Hey ho want me to do a skip? I was thinking of maybe making some kind of evil organisation, maybe trying for a type of assassins creed vibe? Or a hydra/shield vibe? So like, this org is tryna find age old artefacts and shit and is basically tryna take over th world kind of thing??))

(You can do a skip. That sounds like a great idea :3 I might even have a character to be apart of such a group)

Mercy growled with frustration from his hiding spot. He was in Alaska- trying to save a recent recruit from getting his ass tortured to death. ‘F*cking idiot.’ He growled. ‘I find you, have you for a month, and then immediately lose you again.’ He spoke of his little brother- they’d been separated as children. His- their- mother really was a b*astard. He peered out of his hiding spot, refilling his gun and checking the silencer.
((Let’s say it’s been maybe about a year- maybe all the assassin guilds are starting to ally because a lot of them have been taken out by this evil org. ))

(Lash would probably find a reason not to go help save Mercy's newbie brother, so I'll see what I can do with Cross. I'll reply soon)

It was almost funny how Cross was drawn to the same location as Mercy a second time. However, such occurrences were becoming more common, due to groups working together to work against some creeps who'd been popping up lately. Crosshairs had just finished his separate job, but the metallic nose he had picked up on a familiar scent, and his head snapped to his left. Was the intent to kill Mercy still there? No. Not even a little, which was why he actually approached Mercy, managing to slink through the compound and toward his location. His movement was almost silent except for the soft clicking of his gears, rifle held up a little in front of him just in case he needed to shoot any of the "locals" running around

Mercy hissed, diving out of his hiding spot and scrambling quickly to his next cover, gradually moving closer. A bullet grazed his thigh as he hid, and he growled as he placed a hand over the wound. He then heard a familiar noise and felt fear rip through him like wildfire. He looked up, eyes wide as he searched for the source of the noise, desperately hoping cross hadn’t decided to come for him afterall.

Cross only had to pause once, to stare dowm the crosshairs of his rifle to shoot someone. Then he was on his way. He eventually saw Mercy nearby after taking his own spot of cover, not even flinching when a bullet hit and bounced off his shoulder. Cross was much too focused on looking at Mercy. Yet, it was brief, unable to look at him for long before remembering what had happened a year ago. Smoke puffed out of his nostrils, and he turned away to simply help the other assassin with his situation.

After a moment, Mercy forced himself to calm down, convincing himself that cross was here to help. He waved at him, before leaning around the corner to fire off his pistol at the enemy. And then he was moving, sprinting across the lot and in through the back doors. He ensured he was safe, before turning to look at Cross, panting lightly. ‘Thanks. My brothers in the holding cells, not far from here.’ He adjusted his brother’s bow and quiver, the things making him uncomfortable. They were awkward to move with- Mercedes wasn’t a slight man, his broad shoulders made it awkward. ‘Are you coming?’

Cross had followed Mercy, not even giving him a glance as he passed. He hadn't been there before, but the scent of beaten, broken bodies had the same scent aside from slight differences. Gears whirring, he kept his rifle out as he eventually found his way with Mercedes to the holding cells. He then let Mercy take over, having never seen this brother of his, so he wouldn't know which one to look for.

Mercy stressfully made his way through, his gaze sharp. ‘Lucy?’ He called. ‘Lucifer!’ ‘Elijah?’ Responded a croak, from near the end of the hall. Mercy broke into a sprint and stopped in front of the cell, hissing with anger. ‘The hell did they do?’ ‘You gotta ask?’ Mumbled Lucifer, getting to his feet. His body frame was slender, his muscles toned. He looked quite feminine in appearance, his raven-black hair stretching down to his upper thighs. He had long lashes settled over strange violet eyes flecked with Amber, and he was definitely pretty- underneath all of the blood, bruises, and ripped clothing, of course. He limped to the cell doors, quietly watching Mercy jimmy the lock, before kicking the door down. Mercy pulled his brother out, immediately handing over the bow and quiver, before removing an arm guard from his arm and handing that over too. Lucifer slid it on, testing it a moment and then testing the string of the bow, before he slung it over his shoulder. ‘Cross, this is Lucifer. Lucy, this is Cross.’ ‘Yo.’ Lucy said, waving at him, before hurriedly following mercy- with a limp- as the assassin made their getaway.

Cross made a noise that could've been a snort at Lucifer nefore following after them. He was supposed to be out of the area already, having made his kill, so he hoped that nothing too stressful caught up with them before they left the premises. All to save a rookie who got himself snatched up. And yes he could tell, just by looking Lucifer over for no more than a second. But he supposed he would've come anyway too if it had been family he actually cared about, Cross remembering that he'd said he was there for his brother.

‘You’re a damned f*cking idiot, Lu.’ Mercy began to berate him as they walked, keeping an eye out. ‘I’m not a two year old, Elijah.’ Lucy snapped back. ‘I saw a chance and I took it. I shut them down at least, you can’t say it wasn’t worth it.’ Mercy growled, and Lucy flinched, dropping his gaze. ‘...I’m sorry.’ ‘Apologise later. We need to get out of here.’ Lucy nodded. He knocked an arrow to his bow as they walked. They escaped with relative ease; a few kills here and there before they made it out, legging it to mercy’s bike. He swung onto it, Lucifer sliding in behind him, before looking at cross. Mercy looked at him as well. ‘You should come back with us- lay low for a bit.’

Cross studied Mercy, silver eyes focusing on him. The silver on the left side of his head was a slight shade darker from the rest, as well as the plating on his shoulder and arm. Stupid changeling. He remained quiet as he listened to the offer. That meant he would have to spend more time around Mercy, and he really didn't want to do that, mostly because his mission wasn't officially scrapped. Yet, Cross started to smoke, changing back where he was. His human form looked worn and tired, and he still had the marred skin from the acid, though it looked better than before. "Just don't have that stupid bird with you," he grunted, southern drawl thicker when he was annoyed.

‘Your fault for tryna kill me. He was only doing his job.’ Mercy half-heartedly argued, clearly upset by the state cross had been left in. ‘Why are we inviting a guy who-‘ ‘Lucy?’ ‘Shut up?’ ‘Yeah.’ The younger sighed, wrapping his arms around mercy’s waist and leaning his head on his back. ‘You got a way to follow us or do you need me to ring in a car?’ Mercy asked Cross, looking back at the man.

Cross grit his teeth slightly, roots of his hair turning gray as he was forced to remember again. "I've got a motorcycle," he said simply before turning to leave "I'll follow you." And that was that, the ginger not saying a word more than he had to.

Mercy quietly nodded and looked away, pain in his eyes and guilt filling up his chest. He kicked his bike into action and waited for cross to join them, before he led the way, lucifer struggling to hold on. He was clearly exhausted.
They finally pulled into the safety of mercy’s compound, Mercedes climbing off, wrapping Lucifer’s arm over his shoulders to support him. The guy was losing blood, and he was starting to fall unconscious. Mercy looked over at cross. ‘You’ll be fine, since you pulled off your task you’re not an enemy. C’mon.’ He headed inside, lucifer half leaning, half walking.

Cross was once again following after Mercy and Lucifer, looking around the compound with very little emotion showing. When told he'd be fine, he shrugged and said "I'm not staying for long. My job to kill you was never scrapped by my boss, whether I abandoned it or not, and that won't be good for either of us if I pick it up again in the same vicinity as you." And why he never just left his group would remain unsaid for now, if there really was a reason.

‘Kay.’ Mercy muttered, really starting to believe that whatever they’d had between them- if anything- was all for a loss. He helped lucifer to the medical ward, taking his weapons and storing them in a box at the foot of his bed. He then waved over a nurse, who immediately got to work.

Cross watched the nurse work on Lucifer, studying for a moment before turning his hazel-and-white gaze toward Mercy. "Did you find him recently?" was his question, mainly to just get as far away from their current subject as possible for now. "Or at least recruit him recently?"

‘Bout a month ago.’ Mercy replied, moving to stand next to cross and watch Lucy get tended to. ‘He was already working for another organisation- as intel and tech. But he had potential that they didn’t want wasted, so they brought me in to train him, and... well.. we recognised each other. So he transferred. He’s trainjng properly here now.’ He ran a hand through his hair. ‘He hasn’t got a codename yet, so I guess you can just call him Lucy.’

Cross listened to Mercy explain Lucifer, blinking slowly. So they were brothers. He could see the resemblance now. "He's not very good out on the field yet," he said bluntly, stating the obvious. Once again just studying the brother, his brows furrowed. For whatever reason, he recalled that Lucifer addressed Mercy as "Elijah", and Cross tilted his head slightly, deciding not to comment on it. "He apparently has you to help mentor him now though, so hopefully he'll become competent."

‘He will.’ Mercy nodded, before smiling slightly. ‘He barely ever misses a shot with that bow of his. He’s pretty well handed with it. He’s fast, too- this time he just was t fast enough.’ He shook his head and leaned back against a wall, feeling tired.
