Yarrowstar and Birchfur, her deputy, recently died - the vigil and burial has happened
Cats are still mourning over it but slowly starting to make patrols and whatnot in hopes that Duskwater will soon get a sign from StarClan about who the new leader will be

Sheer panic flooded through Ashberry's body as his legs began to tremble with dread. This was it.. this was the end for everything and everyone. He knew he wouldn't be able to handle such a catastrophe. Just imagining what happened within the final moments of Yarrowstar and Birchfur was enough to frighten the tom. He couldn't keep himself on his paws anymore for the dismay was beginning to eat him alive.
His amber eyes went blank momentarily before he did his best to gain some composure or what he had left of it, anyways. Taking a step forward, the dark grey feline almost crashed into Swiftplover, who didn't seem all that bothered by the situation. A small grunt left his maw as he pushed his way past the she-cat that gave him an odd look. Her opinion didn't matter to him at the moment or so that's what he thought.
It took Ashberry a minute to realize he needed to find Fernwish immediately or he wasn't going to live through the ordeal much longer. Exhaling heavily, he nudged himself ahead, his paws growing heavy with each step.
This wasn't going to be easy at all. ash to fern

Fernwish had spotted her mate as soon as he began to head over to her, and knowing Gooseheart had other things to do, she told her daughter she would be fine, and began to make her way to Ashberry.
It didn’t take her long to reach him and as soon as she did, she let out a comforting little purr. In truth, neither her nor Ashberry were that strong, emotionally, and it probably put quite a bit of strain on their kits, but Fernwish could be strong for her mate, if he needed her to be, and no matter what, she always found comfort in him.
She stayed like that for a moment, nuzzling up to him, before she pulled away and looked him over. “How are you doing?” She asked, looking him over worriedly, it was a hard time for the clan, it only seemed natural she would worry about her mate’s well-being.

A purr came from the thick-furred tortoiseshell as Bumblebreeze pressed against her. A slight chill had found its way inside her pelt thanks to the light drizzle, but Bumblebreeze's warmth was a big help in keeping her warm and even drying her fur - not that she was soaked but merely damp. Cherryshine saw herself as a very lucky cat to have such a kind and caring mate as Bumblebreeze. She had padded after him for seasons, her affection for the tom going back even to their apprentice days. The day they had shared their feelings for one another had been the best day of Cherryshine's life, passing even the day she had been named a warrior under Yarrowstar's and StarClan's watchful gaze. She was blessed to be living the life she was, and she couldn't ask for anything better.
Well, perhaps she could. She could ask for StarClan to send the Clan a sign, any sign, of who their new leader should be.
While the tomcat's warmth was relaxing, Cherryshine still felt a prickle of worry in the front of her mind like a bone lodged in her throat. Who was going to be the new leader of their Clan? MoonClan couldn't last long without leadership. Thinking about that brought back the memories of burying Birchfur, Yarrowstar, and Ratface earlier that morning. The light drizzle had caused the ground to go soft and turn into mud; Cherryshine was sure she still had muddy debris stuck in her fur.
What sounded good right now was curling up against Bumblebreeze and taking a nap, but Cherryshine knew she wouldn't be able to sleep well. She would be tossing and turning, her mind too occupied with worry to get a restful sleep. "We could go down to the rivers," suggested the tortoiseshell, her own voice soft as she spoke. "Though, I don't mind doing whatever you want to do." Her words were genuine. Whatever Bumblebreeze felt like doing then Cherryshine was on board. She just wanted to busy her paws with something away from camp, away from all the grief and sorrow that permeated the air like a thick fog.

Bumblebreeze didn’t have to think about his answer for very long, a trip to the rivers sounded nice, relaxing, and a good time for them to get away from all of the...sadness that clung to the air in camp like water to his fur. Which was to say, it wasn’t something that couldn’t be fixed, but it was sticky in a way that wasn’t sticky and it...okay honestly, Bumblebreeze was very bad at metaphors and was going to stop while he was ahead.
He nodded to Cherryshine, giving her a small smile of agreement. “The rivers sound nice,” he agreed, glancing around the camp for a moment, it seemed like a lot of the cats had taken to hiding in the dens or talking quietly amongst themselves. While they waited news from Duskwater, this was really all they could do, wasn’t it? “Let’s go, I don’t think anyone will mind if we leave,” Bumblebreeze added, giving his head a very light shake.
He then turned and began to head out, pausing for only a moment to see if Cherryshine was following. When he was certain that she was, the big fluffy tom continued out, trying to block out the feelings that lingered in camp.
