GENERAL INFORMATION -- ๐พ
* Mandatory read if interested in joining the clan
๐พ The general plot of the role-play centers around a coup d'etat. The leader of the clan, Gorsestar, has fallen from grace. He used to be the ideal leader: strong, brave, noble, presenting all the features that would make one legendary.
Last winter, however, a horrible greencough plague (dubbed Snowcough by the clan) swept through the clan to unprecedented extents, thinning their numbers drastically. One of the cats who was killed in the epidemic was Gorsestar's mate, Cloverfur. While a good leader would take the disaster in stride and repress their emotions for the good of the clan, Gorsestar was overwhelmed by the disaster and has sunk into a deep depression. A depression which has far out-lasted itself, considering that the clan needs strong leadership now more than ever to recover from epidemic. The clan's deputy is doing their best to hold things together, but as they are extremely loyal to Gorsestar they never overstep their boundaries or speak a word against their leader; defiance would be treason.
Because of the long winter and loss of clan numbers there is a prey shortage, and the clan is struggling to run. An inefficient leader makes more than ample a scapegoat for the frustrations and leftover anger of the clan. There have even been rumblings of revolution among some of the warriors; a sentiment unanimously understood but never spoken aloud. Even the medicine cat has been taken in by the idea of upheaval: it is easy to fake signs when you believe that StarClan has already abandoned you. With winters end comes spring, and spring is the time of change.
- Subplots
The medicine-cat has become disenchanted with Gorsestar and is beginning to consider creating fake signs from StarClan that would signal for his impeachment.
----- With the death of the old medicine cat apprentice, they are searching for a replacement
Several cats in the clan are anticipating a shift of power, and are starting to faction off with other warriors in hopes of replacing Gorsestar.
One of the kits in the nursery has begun to show signs of Snowcough.

Territory -- ๐พ
๐พ 1. The Meadow/Training Hill - covering the eastern half of the territory is a meadow which is covered with wildflowers in the spring. The "1" is located on Training Hill, a flat-topped hill where the grass is soft enough for apprentices to practice fighting.
๐พ 2. The Grove/Camp - The MeadowClan camp is located in the center of a cluster of trees(called the Grove) located in the meadow.
๐พ3. The River - runs through the center of the territory. It is perpetually cold, as it is fed by melting snow from the mountains. A tributary of this river branches out and feeds the Crescent Lake.
๐พ4. Crescent Lake - a large, crescent-moon shaped lake fed by The River. The lake is populated by crawdads and small freshwater fish. It is a good place for hunting as animals often come to drink from it. As it is fed by the River, it is usually cold, though not as cold as the river.
๐พ5. The Forest - a large forest covering the western half of the territories and extending onto lower portion of the mountains. The official MeadowClan border lies near the center of these woods, but sometimes patrols stray far into it in search of food. The forest is populated by pine-trees. Since this makes the soil acidic, there is little in the way of underbrush besides low growing bushes.
๐พ6. The Mountains - A mountain range located to the west and north of the territory; MeadowClan cats do not stray onto the mountains. They are dangerous.
๐พ7. Moon Peak - the highest peak in the mountain chain, it is said that here StarClan comes down to walk among cats. No one has been able to prove the truth of that; it is simply a myth. It is covered by snow all year long.
๐พ8. Owlclouds' Cave - on the other side of a hill there is an unusually rocky out-cropping, with a cave formed into it. It is assumed water once ran through this area. The cave is covered in soft moss and herbs often grow around the mouth of it. It was discovered by an old medicine cat named Owlcloud.
In MeadowClan there is no "artifact" that cats can visit to communicate directly with StarClan. This may come up as a future plot-point.

Camp -- ๐พ
The MeadowClan camp is located in a clearing with a dip in the ground in the middle of the Grove. In the middle of camp is a small lake where water collects when it rains. Most of the dens align the sides of camp.
๐พ The Leaders Den; The leaders den is located in the side of the dip, a rocky hollow carved by past water. The cave does not stretch far back, but is comfortable.
The leaders addresses the clan from their perch on a large rock next to The Pond. The pond is the name of the small body of water in the center of camp.
๐พ The Warriors Den: The Warriors den is located in a bush before the dip starts, so the group is only very slightly inclined. The bush is reinforced with thorns on the outside.
๐พ The Apprentices Den: The apprentices den is located under a large downed oak tree. This downed tree stretches across the dip, from one side to the other, providing a bridge above. It also creates some shelter from the rain for cats in the camp. The apprentices den is located among the branches, where the leaves used to be. It was cleared out and covered with moss to provide protection.
๐พ The Nursery: The nursery is located in a cave on the side of the dip which is similar to the leaders den, but larger and longer. It is also located on the steeper side of the dip, so kits are never allowed to leave the nursery without a queen.

[Owlwhisker ] - Large, long-furred light ginger tom with round, slanting orange eyes and a somewhat mottled appearance of slightly lighter and darker patches. His muzzle, nose, a ring around his neck, chest, belly, legs, and tail-tip are white, and his tufted ears are a slightly darker color. He is considered quite handsome, leaving many of the she-cats in the Clan secretly (or not) pining after him to some degree or another.
[ Ravenflower ] - sleek furred, solid black she-cat with gold eyes. 32 moons.
[ Russetdeer ] - He is nimble russet colored tom with a lighter chest and throat. Russetdeer has amber eyes.
[ Lapwingdance ] - Lapwingdance is a petite, bony black and white she-cat with mint green eyes.
[ Crestwave ] - Crestwave is an athletic, lithe creamy ginger she-cat with darker classic tabby markings. She has plain amber eyes.
[ Pinebranch ] - A tortoiseshell she-cat with green eyes.
[ Weaselstripe ] - Sturdy, thick-furred light brown tom with large, round bright yellow eyes and a very bushy tail. He has faint tabby stripes on his face, legs, and tail, though the end of his tail is black. He also has a distinct darker stripe across his shoulders, and the toes on his back left paw are white. 46 moons old.
[ Snowshimmer ] - A pearl white she cat with powder blue eyes and long fluffy fur.
[ Silverfrost ] - A silver tom with a white muzzle, paws, tail tip with pale green eyes, and medium-short silky fur with a feather like tail.
[ Minkburr ] - slender, long-legged, solid brown tom with gold eyes. 36 moons.
[ Fennelfrost ] - slender, long-legged, tan she-cat with darker facial points and startling green eyes. 36 moons.
[ Crowtail ] - Gray tom with blue eyes.
[ Kestrelthroat ] - a long-furred white and gray she-cat with large hazel eyes.
[ Chervilrunner ] - a slim russet tabby tom with slitted gray eyes, and a long tail.
[ Poppysun ] - Broad-shouldered and well-built, his fluffy, long fur increases his body size even more so. He is characterized by a pearly white undercoat over layered by earthy chocolate and orange-cream patches against his face and back. Bright yellow-green eyes twinkle in the dark pieces on his visage.
[ Hornetbuzz ] - Lean and muscled, this feminine is coated in velvet, medium-length fur patterned in warm chocolate brown and ginger overlay decorated with darker, thin tabby stripes. White touches her chin and drips down her throat to the middle of her chest and tips her paws, making her golden eyes stand out all the more.
[ Eveningsmoke ] - Lithe like a willow, hard muscle still delicately lines the thin cat. Her fur is a curious dark blue-silver shade, quite short and velvet-like against her body. Pale, even green eyes stand out against her light-tipped fur.
[Fernshadow] - 30 moons. long-haired tabby she-cat with thick black stripes against a silver pelt.

The rules for the clan are fairly simple, as I assume everyone on here has at least some experience in a role-play. Presumably this means I don't have to cover the basics: follow the forum rules, no mary-sues or god-modding or power-playing, no super powers, and make your characteristics believably realistic.
I do ask that, if you join this role-play, you can write out a well-thought out post. This does not mean I want paragraphs from you. (If you want to write paragraphs you can, just like, try and stay at about 1,000 words. If you go over it's fine. I used to be a 3,000 word average post kind of person. But doing that consistently drains energy and slows down the rp.)
I also ask for you to be relatively active on the Clan. I'm in college, I have a job, I understand how hectic life gets. That's why I'm pushing for shorter posts to make the clan manageable; I want to keep the clan fun, and not a burden.
Other than that, I don't really have much to say. If you have any questions, or ideas for plots for the RP or anything, suggestions, are bored and wanna talk to someone, whatever, feel free to PM me.

{ Gorsestar & Morningshadow};;;the meadowIt was dusk. Fading rays of light drifted through the meadow, casting the landscape in a soft orange hue. The patrol had just reached the top of a hill โ one of the highest in the territory. Gorsestar paused, holding up his tail to signal to the rest of the patrol to do the same. โLookโ, he whispered. The hunting patrol, the first Gorsestar had taken out in weeks, were on their way back to camp. They were returning practically empty handed. โLook at how beautiful this is.โ
The meadow was, objectively, dazzling. Newly budded flowers swayed in the breeze; yellows were turned red by the light, pinks a dark purple, dusk magnifying color and movement. It is like us, Gorsestar thought. We are in the twilight of MeadowClan.
When he had first become leader Gorsestar was vibrant, excited to be leading MeadowClan through its glory days. The clan was thriving, larger than ever, and albeit their great numbers prey was plentiful. Oh, what his younger self would have thought if he learned of his fate. He was not a savior for the clan; he was to herald in its downfall.
Too stupid to see the signs of plague, too caught up in belief in StarClan โ that they would save them. But never did his ancestors even reach out. Oh, they spared them perhaps. Let some of them live with the memories of their past life. Their past loves. Yet they were not saved. No. Gorsestar was doomed to walk on this planet knowing that he killed his clan, killed his mate, and that StarClan had abandoned them. Yes. This was the end.
None of this even mattered.
Morningshadow, who was also on the patrol, stood several feet behind Gorsestar. She had no idea why they had stopped. There wasnโt much daylight left, and while dusk and dawn were the prime times to hunt, once night fell the prey would be hidden away and being out here would be useless. โWhat is he doing?โ the she-cat muttered, visibly agitated. โWe need to keep goingโฆโ
Gorsestar ether didnโt hear her whisper or ignored it; he stood perfectly still. Watching. As if he were waiting for the setting sun to reveal some hidden knowledge.

// Personality: Loyal, and encouraging are really what Reedflame is in a nutshell. He is loyal to his clan, and will do whatever seems best for it. He is kinda loosing loyalty in Gorsestar based on what he has been doing, and seems like what he is doing isnt right, but still will obey him. Reedflame is always pushing his clan harder, making them better and stronger warriors. He is 38 moons old.

He's the type to leave someone high and dry if he feels that he can't take the pressure or handle the situation correctly. He wouldn't let anyone know of the reason either, which gives off the impression of flaky. Other than his broken promises, this tom prefers to challenge others and test their skills. He's confident, self-assured in many ways and especially dauntless. There isn't much that can break Russetdeer's spirits unless it's his Achilles' heal and that is an obvious weakness. He is 39 moons old.

Despite her off-putting traits, this she-cat is protective and contemplative. If ever with someone she trusts enough, Lapwingdance is willing to put up a fight for them. However, she'll most likely be too deep in thought to take action. She spends a lot of time in her head, almost too much that it isn't good for her. Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done about her wandering mind. 52 moons

He doesn't see the world in a full perspective but in the one an innocent kit would. With actions and thoughts that are youthful, it's expected that Hemlock is simple-minded. And that he is. 23 moons

Whether she's holding a conversation or outside of camp, this she-cat is always on the move, no matter where her paws lead her. This warrior has what you call a bleeding heart; she's a sympathizer and would give her all to help others, stranger or not. Unfortunately, she will forgive someone very easily if they cross her and take them back as soon as possible. She doesn't see the risks and jeopardy in life, which makes accepting them unfathomable. It can cause hindrances for Crestwave and those are the ones she's wary of accepting. Despite her worrying battles, this feline is devoted and committed to her clanmates, who she considers her true family. 30 moons old

//Personality: Kestrelthroat is a kind and loving feline, and is generally well respected among her clanmates. She is a motherly figure to many, and is often witnessed fussing about the appearance or manners of her two kits. She is extremely protective of her kin, and is also very attached to them. Kestrelthroat is not typically one for fights, however will make sacrifices when necessary.

[ Cinderpaw ] - a spunky white and gray tomcat with yellow-green eyes.
//Personality: Cinderpaw is a lovable young tom who always tries to see the best of things. He is eager to learn, and is very curious about the world around him. He mingles well with his clanmates and fellow apprentices. Cinderpaw is a mama's boy, and is not one to shy away from sharing tongues with his mother. He is also close to his sister, however is not a fan of her pessimistic outlook.

Dogpaw is a poor conversation partner, and is additionally poor with maintaining her anger.

[ Chervilrunner ] - a slim russet tabby tom with slitted gray eyes, and a long tail.

He has quite a sweet spot for his clanmates, and would do anything if it meant their safety. Chervilrunner is a respected warrior and follower of the code, and is optimistic about the clan's future. |

Added everyone's characters and assigned apprentices! I tried to assign good mentors per apprentice based on personality :) I did assign a couple cats with wip personalities to people but that was to try and make sure most rpers got to have one cat as a mentor. it's not perfect though ^^"

[ sounds good to me Sky! i'll be hanging around plotting and stuff while i write an essay. i might also get starters up for my other cats! btw, everyone, feel free to have your cats doing whatever. as long as it's not too dramatic (if you wanna do something like, idk, having them being attacked by a herd of badgers, just run it by me first). this clan is supposed to be fun and relaxed ]

[ i have an interesting plot idea to bounce off you guys. so lichenkit is going to start receiving visions from starclan; maybe those visions could be about a place like the moonstone/moonpool in the books because meadowclan has no place to visit starclan. and a plot later could be a handful of cats having to go on a journey to find it]
