» Niiiice! I major in film. B) Gonna be a director someday. «
"Really? I thought all of you ShadowClan bunch ate frogs," Yellowstar teased her. He pressed a light paw against her belly, unable to stop himself from purring. "They're so rowdy..." he murmured, his eyes glowing, "I wonder what they will be like. Fine fighters like their father, I'm sure." He wrapped his tail around them, throwing all caution to the wind. He was proud to have this she-cat as a mate, and there wouldn't be much fuss over their relationship if she decided to join his clan.
He took a small nibble of the fish to satisfy her, not really interested in eating anymore. He tilted his head to the side slightly as he gazed at her, trying to choose his next words wisely. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper as not to wake Whorlkit or be overheard by nearby cats. He brushed his paw over her belly lightly, his eyes full of sadness as his mind continued to reel with the heavy choice he'd have to make. He smiled sadly at her, "If I'd known sooner, maybe we could have... I could have..." He stopped and exhaled slowly, not wanting to scare her away with what he had to say. He fixed his gaze on the ground, the smile fading from his lips. "What if you hadn't made it from the fire?" His voice was barely audible over the soft sound of the kit breathing next to them. He withdrew his paw from her belly, unable to mask his hurt.

(That sound's really awesome! Can I ask what time zone you lot are in? I was just curious.)
Lowering her head, Morningflight's eyes lit with pain at the tom's words. She rested her head on her paws, taking another bite from the prey, this time a little more willing. Feeling a little better now that her belly was feeling a little more full. Tears speckled her blue eyes, she shifted from one paw to the other, discomfort mingled with sadness clear in her pale gaze. She looked at him, resisting the urge to press closer when he tugged himself away from her. The golden queen watched him in silence for a moment, she had no clue what to say, how to make him feel better.
Hundreds of thoughts ran through her head, to the point where she was certain her skull would explode from the pressure building up inside her skull. She was sure the words would tumble unwillingly from her lips she didn't have any idea how to tell him. Every feeling that she'd felt since the day that the medicine cat had told her she was carrying her first litter came refreshed in her head.
"I didn't know the forest was going to be engulfed in flames," she whispered hoarsely. The pain of all that she had lost bright in her eyes as she fought back her tears. Her mother, her brothers and sister, almost everyone she knew and cared about, were gone. And they'd died screaming. The queen closed her eyes, fighting back the stinging sensation blinding her in that moment. Why did Starclan let me live, after all I have done to rebel against their code?
Returning her gaze to him, the tears still bright in her eyes but this time she spoke stronger. "What exactly would you have said if I did?" She asked, a little sharper than she had intended. Hating how honest and cruel her own words sounded, but she didn't know what else there was that she could have said. "And the fire hadn't happened? What would you have done?"
Blinking away the tears, she sniffed heavily. "These kits would have been mine to raise, alone if the fire hadn't destroyed the clan. They would have never known their father, not for what he was. I thought it would be best to keep it to myself, to stop it hurting you."{/sub]

Yellowstar gazed at her in disbelief, as if unable to understand why she'd ask such a ridiculous question. "You could have joined RiverClan. You could have been with me," he mewed, his voice a little hopeful as he perked up. He gazed at her fondly, her sharp words drowned out by the sudden sense of he felt longing to raise his kits and the love he shared for the she-cat carrying them. He rested his tail on her flank, his eyes shining with newfound joy. "I would have made sure you and the kits were happy-- I still can. You can join RiverClan, our kits can learn how to swim and be trained by the finest warriors..." his words broke off as he began to ramble, too excited for his own good. It had been many moons since he felt this kind of strong emotion, too caught up in leadership duties to ever truly enjoy himself. But this - this idea of a future he could see, as grim as it may start out - brought him hope. He didn't stop to think of what she would say or how she would react to his proposition because his mouth was moving faster than his mind, like usual. "You don't have to leave..."
He gazed at her, waiting, his typically narrow eyes suddenly wide with anticipation.

(I dont mind, which would you prefer I do? could they be born early? a little drama in the middle of everything XD)
A blind cat could have seen that the queen was torn between her options, her head low and eyes hal closed. The exhaustion of everything that had happened in recent times weighing down on her to the point where she was surprised she wasn't buried underground from the effort of holding it up. On the one hand she wanted to do what was best for her kits, and that was here with their father. Where they would be safe, and wouldn't have to struggle to find a new home with a dying clan. It meant that she wouldn't have to raise them alone, something which had terrified her for moons.
Her eyes danced across the clearing, looking at what remained of her pitiful clan. Landing on Nighttail, the deputy who was practically a shell of his former self. And the rest of them, all skinny and tired and in pain. She struggled to blink away the tears as she looked at what they had become, a fall from grace she wasn't sure they could ever fully recover from.
But then the key to their survival might be in the kits she carried, new warriors which could have ensured their future as a clan. Giving them back their numbers and refreshing morale. They were her family, and had done so much for her in her short life. Part of her hated the idea of abandoning them in the time where they needed help the most.
But soon she would be a mother, and she knew that she needed to put them above everything else.
If only it was that simple.
Closing her eyes, the beautiful young queen let out a gentle sigh. "I don't know, my clan need me."

» She could have four, and then one of them die? I know you wanted them to somehow be affected by her cough and stuff. And yes, definitely! Add to the drama pool!
Same. My editing could use some work xD It's fun when I'm doing projects by myself tho. You don't have the expectations of others hanging over your shoulders when you're doing it alone. «
"I need you, too," Yellowstar mewed softly. He gazed at her for a few silent moments, unable to ignore the signs of stress the she-cat was undergoing. He was wrong for pushing her to choose during such a tough time, but he couldn't stop himself from pressing her further. "Your kits need you more than your clan needs you. You are their primes source of survival. They can't thrive if you aren't safe and happy." He smiled at her, hoping he would convince her to make the switch. He could feel his pads prickling uneasily, as if suspecting the queen will shoot him down entirely. The notion made him nervous, and he found himself swishing his tail impatiently. "Do what's best for our kits, Morningflight."
Lilypaw jumped at the sound of her name being called and fixed her green eyes on Beesplash. Just the cat she was looking for! She glanced back at Mossheart, checking to see if the she-cat was finished eating and ready to go, before scampering off to meet with her deputy. She dipped her head to Flurryfoot and Mistyheart respectfully. "Are we going hunting?" the senior apprentice asked, her tail raised in the air eagerly.

Lifting herself to her paws with a careful heave, she needed space from her clanmates to think about this. So many thoughts running through her head, she could barely think straight. Her heavily swollen belly swinging beneath her, she winced a little as she straightened. Tired and hurting from her still very fresh wounds, it was an effort to stand up straight but she managed to ignore it enough to remain up right. She wished beyond wishing that her decision could be that easy, but she was terrified her parents would hate her from starclan should she decide to make the switch from the dying Shadowclan.
Gazing at him in silence, she didn't say anything for a moment. A pant coming from her throat as she looked away from him. "I cant think about this now," she whispered quietly, very aware of the fact they were surrounded by other cats. "I need to stretch my legs, come with me?" She asked with a sigh, her head tilting to the side as she shifted from leg to leg uncomfortably. Unable to explain the strange feelings in her belly, and hoping a walk might clear both her head and the pain.
(Sounds fine with me)

Yellowstar quickly scooped Whorlkit into his tail and brought the tom-kit close to his chest in hopes of not waking him. He watched Morningflight stand, the light in his eyes dying as his expression slowly returned to its usual neutral indifference. He knew rejection when he saw it, and the large tom fought to keep his hurt under wraps. "You should be resting," he told her, taking note of her wince. He gazed down at Whorlkit, not wanting to meet the she-cat's eyes. It was the irrational side of his brain telling him that she didn't want anything to do with him. Logically, he knew she was just trying to get out of camp so they could speak, but he found himself not wanting either of them to leave.
He rose to his paws slowly, trying desperately not to wake the kit as he glanced around the camp. "And you promised Mossheart you'd look after him," he reminded her. He paused, almost deciding not to say his next words but giving in anyways, "But I can watch him while you stretch. We can talk later," he sighed, feeling defeated and downtrodden.
Lilypaw glanced at Flurryfoot, understanding lighting in her round eyes. "Oooooh," she said. "Okay. The more cats, the better. I'll help sniff out herbs in case I see anything I recognize," she promised the medicine cat. "I don't know much, but I'm sure I'll find something while hunting."
"Where are we going to go?" she asked Beesplash, turning her attention back to the deputy.

The slender queen leant down to lick the sleeping tom between the ears, "I only intend to be gone for a moment," she replied quietly. The pressures of everything that had happened recently beginning to tumble down on her head. She pressed the tip of her nose into his fur with a gentle, rumbling purr to help rock him back to sleep. "And they haven't left yet, I will only be a short while." She said with a quiet voice, looking at him with deep blue eyes. "Please?"
Morningflight flinched again, this time the pain drawing a gasp of pain from her throat she closed her eyes. Drawing in a sharp breath, only to be interrupted by another bought of painful coughing. The effort of struggling to breathe flattened the elegant queen to the ground, her eyes shut as she bit back a sudden cry of pain. Ears flat to her head, the only sound she could manage to produce was a sharp, "Agh."

((Alright, back in business! I'm in the central time zone, in the US, by the way!))
Mossheart blinked cheerfully at Lilypaw as she ate from the fish and the gray tabby finally gathered her nerves together to taste the slimy creature. She took a small nip of the flesh, and found that it was delicate and tender; it did smell as awful as she had said, but the flavor was surprisingly mild and light. The meat flaked in her mouth and she wondered a bit why Windclan had never made use of the river that bordered between their and Thunderclan's territory. She continued to wrinkle her nose at the smell and was glad that she didn't smell like that constantly. "It's good!" she offered the eager Lilypaw, "It caught me by surprise, I'll admit." She purred despite herself, and finished her share of the kill, grateful for the kindness and hospitality that Riverclan offered her and the other clans.
Mossheart looked for the Riverclan deputy with Lilypaw once the meal had been finished, feeling thrilled that she would be able to do something at last. She gave one small look at Whorlkit and noticed that he was fully engulfed in sleep. This relieved the she-cat, and she felt her chest lift a little. She heard Beesplash call for the Riverclan apprentice, and she dutifully bounded off in the direction of the deputy; Mossheart followed a little tentatively, keeping herself a couple paces behind Lilypaw. She kept her posture dignified, however, as she looked to be the only Windclan cat gathered for the patrol. She was the only cat who wasn't Riverclan, actually. She felt a thorn in her heart, knowing that Riverclan and Windclan fared the best of all clans.
Despite all of this, she dipped her head in greeting to the Riverclanners, somberly ready to do her part.
---
Flurryfoot felt her paws shift a little, and looked at Beesplash in relief. She was glad to hear that no offence had been taken by her rash and hasty planning and smiled a little sheepishly at her. "Thanks, Beesplash; I appreciate it greatly." Her attention was then caught by the approaching cats, invited by they deputy's command, and was slightly surprised by the arrival of a Windclan warrior; she recognized her as Mossheart. Otherwise, she didn't know to much about the senior warrior, just from gatherings and brief glimpses across the border. Despite this, she was thrilled at the addition of two to the patrol. "Oh thank Starclan; more able bodied cats!"
"I'm willing to look for herbs as well; I'm not sure I'll be of much use, but I'm able," Mossheart rumbled lightly in agreement with Lilypaw. The gray calico looked lightly at Lilypaw, feeling her chest burst with appreciation at their offers. "If you have any questions about herbs or anything, I'll do my best to teach you," she mewed to her before turning to the other cats of the group, "That goes for anyone; ask if you're unsure! I will need help with a particular bee's hive if anyone is willing... We desperately need honey." He ears flickered lightly as she contemplated the need; it wasn't a cure, but it kept the moral of her patients up as it soothed their aching throats. Anything to keep those who were suffering a touch happier was a necessity.
((Since we're talking about majors and stuff, I feel like I should mention: I'm in biochemistry and my writing can be a little stiff... I'm used a scientific style of writing normally, and I've been trying to fix that when I roleplay ^^; I'm sorry if stuff gets wordy or boring! AND we're about to get into a big ol' group, that'll be fun!!))

» I love science! I'm not very good at it... but it's fun! «
Lilypaw was surprised by how relieved she was to hear that Mossheart liked the fish. The idea of being forced to eat something unpleasant for the sake of survival seemed horrendous in Lilypaw's eyes; plus, she wanted the she-cat to enjoy her stay in RiverClan, as well as the other clan cats for that matter.
Lilypaw wasn't usually so energetic. Before the fire, she was quite shy and anxious. The other apprentices always had the upper-paw over who got the best patrols and best pickings from the fresh-kill pile. Things changed after the tragedy, however; Lilypaw found that she'd have to step up to assist in caring for all the cats affected by the travesty. She was eager to help and could hardly stand aside while others worked, determined to makes things as easier for everyone. She still had shy and anxious tendencies, but found it easier to push them aside to put the clans first.
Her bright green eyes shone brightly as she gazed up at Beesplash, waiting to hear her instructions.
Yellowstar's fur spiked up in alarm as Morningflight began to cough. He rose to his paws as she fell, easing his way around Whorlkit and standing at her side. "Are you alright?" he demanded, sniffing her fur. He curled his tail around her as if the gesture could protect her from any and all danger as his eyes searched the camp. "Flurryfoot!" he yowled. "Something's wrong with Morningflight!"

Morningflight's eyes filled with terror and panic as pain split through her, it drew a sharp cry of pain from her as a contraction made her belly tense and roll, pinning her ears flat to her head. She looked to her mate with agonised eyes, she tried to force herself back to her paws but a second round of coughs tore the ability from her and she again collapsed onto her rounded side with a wail.
"Starclan no, please. its too soon," she begged.

((I wish I wasn't so busy this weekend; sorry! Flurryfoot to the rescue!!))
Flurryfoot's ears swiveled at the call of her name, noting the severity and urgency from Yellowstar. She turned her head, blinking a little bit in uncertainty at the name. "Morningflight... is she...?" The calico's fur suddenly bristled as she laid her eyes on Morningflight, realizing she was pregnant. "Oh no. No no, no," she whispered, fearing the worst. Flurryfoot's blood went cold as she heard her scream and knew what was happening. But... it looked way too early for her to be kitting; hopefully it was... something else? Oh, but what else could possibly make a queen scream like that? She had heard queens cry out many times before and she knew deep down that there wasn't anything else it could be.
She turned to the patrol, eyes wide as she stiffened her legs in an attempt to keep from shaking. "I can't go anymore; grab Lichenpaw or Thistleflower if you want to look for herbs still," she stammered, feeling her chest clench and decompress rapidly. She realized it was just her heartbeat increasing. "I'll do my best to join you later... but I have to stay and help her." She quickly bid her clanmates farewell and rushed over to the yowling queen, keeping her own breathing steady.
Once she arrived, there were no longer any doubts about what was happening. She did quickly inspect Morningflight's belly and noticed the rapid convulsions "Yellowstar, we have to get her to my den, immediately," she commanded, knowing that she still looked like a nervous cluster of fur clinging to a shaking frame, "I.. I think her kits are coming." She immediately moved over to the opposite of the queen, lowering herself to her level and began to nudge her to her feet. Flurryfoot spoke with a gentle tone, "It'll be alright, dear; we're going to go to the medicine den and welcome your kits into the world." She noticing the smell of Shadowclan on the cat and purred lightly, "I'm sure they'll make fine Shadowclan kits; we'll get through this."
She flashed another glance at Yellowstar, who seemed to be stricken with shock at the she-cat's predicament. "Com'on owl-eyes," she chided, "I need help getting her to the medicine den."
--
Whorlkit awoke with his fur on end; there was screaming. His heart pounded in his chest and he opened his eyes, flitting them rapidly around and looking for fire. He stood to his paws shakily and felt the urge to run.
Feeling, of course, was not the same concept as capability. The fluffy kit stood, anchored in his place with claws drawn and quivering whiskers. He had a brief image of Mossheart grabbing his scruff as flames raced across the once open moorland, destroying all he had ever known in his short life. Whorlkit cried out at this, pleading for his mother and Mossheart, glancing around fearfully for Morningflight as well. A short distance away, he noticed her, keeled over in pain and screaming. In terror, everything seemed to go numb as he watched Yellowstar begin yelling as well; he felt short of breath.
"Someone, please grab this kit!" he heard someone cry: a calico cat who had approached the queen and was attempting to get her to her paws.

Grimacing heavily, she forced herself onto shaking paws with a cry of pain. She had managed to take a step forward, only to collapse again with a bought of coughing which stole the air from her lungs and left her desperate for air. The pain was like nothing else, unnaturally so even for a kitting. The yowl which tore from her throat was unadulterated and pure agony, as she fought to drag herself back to her feet. The golden shecat was thin and still heavily wounded from the fire, it wasn't going to be an easy delivery. Especially considering how early the kits were coming into the world. Her fur was still clad with the stench of smoke and heavy with ash from the fire. She was a pitiful looking shecat.
"Please, its too early," she begged through the pain. "They cant be coming, they'll die."
But her contractions were only becoming stronger and stronger as her muscles worked to bring the kits into the world. There was little else that could be done.

» Aaaah my heartstrings ;; poor Whorlkit This is also a perfect time to build Yellowstar as a character asdfgf aaaaahh I'm not sure how to though, at least not yet.«
Yellowstar waited frantically for Fluffyfoot to approach, his tail lashing swiftly as his fur fluffed up. The agonized noises Morningflight made were unsettling, even for a kitting queen. He didn't understand what was going on, and felt hopeless as Flurryfoot inspected the she-cat's belly.
"Is she going to be alright?" the large tom demanded. He didn't intervene immediately, too caught up in the surprise of the moment to be able to properly register the events occurring in rapid succession. It took Flurryfoot's chiding to snap the tom out of his trance and assist her in taking Morningflight to the medicine den.
"Just lean against me," he murmured to Morningflight, using his broad shoulder to nudge the weak she-cat back onto her paws. "Flurryfoot is going to take good care of you." His golden eyes flashed as he looked to the medicine cat, hoping his words would be proven true.
Lilypaw let out a panicked squeak without meaning to, the sudden cries coming from across the camp completely taking her off guard. She glanced around, shocked to see that Morningflight was the source of the agonized wails. She opened her mouth to speak, but Yellowstar's words reached out instead, and Lilypaw quickly shut her jaw as Flurryfoot excused herself from the group.
"Oh my..." the small she-cat murmured, worry lacing her expression as she watched the medicine cat rush off. She glanced between Beesplash and Mossheart, her eyes wide, "I hope everything's okay."
Another cry emitting from Morningflight made Lilypaw turn back to the scene and lock eyes with the horrified tiny Whorlkit. "I-I'll get him!" she stammered frantically to Mossheart, worried that the she-cat would cancel going on patrol in favor of caring for him. She turned to Beesplash and dipped her head "please excuse me," before scampering off to comfort the little kit.
She approached him cautiously once close enough, lowering herself to his level as not to overwhelm him with her larger size. "Hey, Whorlkit..." she murmured calmly, inching closer to the tom-kit. She tentatively extended her tail to touch his shoulder, afraid she'll scare him off if she moved too fast. "It's okay, it's okay. Morningflight is going to have her kits." She wrapped her tail around him, intentionally blocking his sight of the scene happening next to him as she attempted to avert his attention to other things. "Isn't that exciting? You'll have denmates to play with soon."
Another cry from Morningflight made her bristle, and she gripped the kit's scruff in her teeth and quickly carried him to the nursery.

(what were you thinking of? anything cool?)
For a moment the small queen paused, catching her breath or at the very least trying to find it. As the cough quickly began to steal most of the oxygen from her, body racked by both contractions and coughing, this wasn't going to be easy on the slender shecat. Using her mate as something to lean on, her legs trembled with the effort of keeping her upright. Looking to her mate with eyes full of desperation and fear, she could barely find the energy to say her words.
"It's too early, they're not going to make it." Morningflight stammered in panic before another wail ripped from her throat. It appeared she was growing tired already.
Panting for breath, oblivious to the world around her, for in that moment her universe was overwhelmed with pain. She staggered into a straightened position, her belly rolling and convulsing with the rapidly increasing contractions. Morningflight looked from her mate to the medicine cat, a level of desperation in her dark blue eyes as she spoke as calmly as she could manage. "If it comes to it, save the kits," she stammered. Knowing this might not end well for her.
Relying heavily on the tom in order to keep to her paws, the trio made their slow way over to the medicine cat den of the Riverclan camp. Cringing in pain, the tiny queen found her way to an empty nest and settled herself into it with a heavy wince. Her burn wounds had torn open in the several collapses, and as a result she was already bleeding. Only adding to her list of problems at the moment.
