Reedsplash RiverClan Territory - Wren & Ben He hadn't gone that far before he heard it: a scream. Startled, he jumped, eyes wide as his focus flickered through the scrubby trees and marshes for a source. Another scream, longer this time. This time he was prepared and snapped to his left, the closest direction he could guess the sound was from. He jumped into action. With so many new cats on the territory, odds were someone had gotten themselves stuck in the bogs, yet something twisted in his gut and he felt that the noise wasn't just fear, but pain.
It was harder to move through the ashy mud than he'd anticipated. Clumps flew to his paws, yet even more stuck to the bare patches, making his stride clumsy and paws heavy. He cast his eyes around, finally spotting the two cats closer to the lake, easy to spot with their bright white- and ginger- pelts. Luckily there was less ash here and with a shake of his paws Reedsplash approached, neither taking care to hide nor to be seen. The ginger tom was holding up the white she-cat and it was impossible for Reedsplash to miss her stomach distended with kits. He didn't recognize either of them, but, he thought as he came closer, it wasn't as if Clan really mattered much at this point anyways. "Hello?" he called over, hoping not to startle the two.

Cautious by nature around clan cats, he'd heard most of them were unfriendly around cats who weren't members of the clan. And whilst it was his intention to join the clan with his mate, he was less certain of doing that when his mate was most vulnerable. He didn't know how any of them would react to their trespassing, and Ben growled with a protective tone. Placing himself between the stranger and his mate, willing to fight to the death if that's what it came to. The need to keep his mate and unborn kits safe took priority over anything else which might have played a part to a sane cat.
"We're just passing through," was his firm response, regarding Reedsplash with a cautious manner.

>> Ooc << >> RP << Wren loosened her clenched teeth and got a moment of relief, while she had been too busy trying to bear through the pain she didn't noticed the strange that had approached them. Before she knew it Ben was stepping infront of her and growled, when her mate spoke her heart sunk with disappointment, she growled and swatted at her mates hind leg. "That is not true and you know it." She mewed stepping up to him, so she could sit next to him instead of behind him. She looked to the Stranger and mewed, "We are not passing through, we are here trying to find the clans." She paused her expression hopeful, "Are you one of the clan..." She squeezed her eyes and through gritted teeth she wimped, as another contraction interrupted her. Her legs went weak and started to lean towards Her mate.

Pinning his ears back in frustration, he didn't want his mate to get into trouble should the clan decide they didn't want to take in strangers, but he had no time to reply and instead turned to press against her. Desperately trying to keep the young shecat on her legs as best as he could, knowing that kitting in the open would do her no good. Desperate to find her somewhere safe to deliver their kits, eyes bright with panic as he buried his nose into her fur. At last he looked to the stranger with a desperate look, "Please, we need help."

[ Sorry I'm not used to having rps where there are multiple posts an hour /o keep bothering me; I'll get used to it. ]
Reedsplash RiverClan Territory - Wren & Ben Reedsplash felt his fur rising and narrowed his eyes as the ginger tom stepped forward. He didn't want a fight, not now, not when there wasn't enough herbs still for the victims of the fires. He was glad when the she-cat stepped forward and he was allowed to relax his stance. "These are the Clans," he offered. He didn't know if the catastrophe made the others more or less likely to accept outsiders into their ranks, but so far Nov has been tucked into their ranks without much complaint and this ginger tom looked capable enough. At least his lungs weren't giving out on him like half the others they had left, which honestly was good enough reason for them to stay. "I'm Reedsplash--" he started, breaking off when the white she-cat flinched. The dots suddenly connected and he took a step back, stunned. "You're kitting! Here! Now!" The large grey tom looked around with wide eyes as if by some miracle a medicine cat would be nearby. He glanced over his shoulder to where camp would be, not far off if he went through the bogs. "I-- I can get help. Can you wait here?"

Flamerose cast a glare over at Nighttail before she hesitantly bit into the bitter herbs, wrinkling up her nose in disgust as she did so. They were horribly bitter, and she wished that they had just left without the herbs. Despite her hatred for the bitter tasting herbs, she knew that it was necessary to give them strength on this trip. Of course, Nighttail needed it more than her. She had kept her health up, for the most part, but she wasn't sure if the ShadowClan deputy would even be able to make the trip, even with the herbs.
"They're worse than I thought." She grumbled, although she did finish off the herbs with a bit of a grimace. Flamerose was caught in silence when Lichenpaw requested to go. This had been planned out simply -- her and Nighttail, and they had turned Nov down... although who knew if that mouse-brained loner would follow after them, anyway. But maybe it would be best if Lichenpaw could come. Maybe StarClan could even tell her what to do now that her mentor was dead, and maybe even just give her a medicine cat name.
"Are you sure you're not needed her?" Flamerose asked, although she was sure that the remaining medicine cats could handle everything without Lichenpaw, at least for one night.

Nighttail frowned. So she is going to let her come. He kept his bitter thoughts to himself however, remembering that it wasn't really his place to decide. He told himself that Lichenpaw could possibly be of use while on the journey, seeing as the young feline had a strong bond with StarClan. What if their ancestors sent a sign that only a medicine cat could understand?
"We need to get going," the ShadowClan deputy snapped after some heartbeats. He glanced up at the sky, watching the smoky clouds slowly ease pass the full moon. They didn't have much time if they wanted to get there before dawn.
The caterwauling from the kitting queen snapped Yellowstar out of his miserable stupor. He locked eyes with Flurryfoot, a worried expression etching his face. Could there be survivors? He flicked his tail dismissively to Flurryfoot and jerked his head in the direction of the noise. "We can finish here," he reassured the medicine cat. His initial thought was that somecat on the gathering island was sick or needed help, but the cry had come from the opposite direction. This gave the tom hope that there were cats out there who'd survived the tragedy and finally found their way back home.
He turned to Morningflight, stalking over to the she-cat and settling down next to her. He nudged a glistening pebble towards her, its beauty prominent through the many colors adorning its smooth surface. He stared at her patiently, wanting her to be the one to place the pebble on the little grave. It was much smaller than the other mounds, so only a few select decorations would be able to fit. He liked that specific rainbow pebble a lot, and deemed it worthy enough to be placed on their daughter's grave.

Nov watched the two deputies stalk away, a little frown appearing on his muzzle. What was the black cat being so rude for? He wanted to follow them and insist on going, but decided against it at the last second. That Flamerose is a stubborn one, he thought.
The russet tom gingerly stepped over Lilyfern at the camp entrance, waving to the she-cat with his tail as he passed. There was no use in him staying in the camp any longer if there wasn't anything for him to do. He trekked towards the charred remains of the barnplace, deciding he could do no harm in resting there for the night. The journey home would be a long one, about a half-day's walk through the fields to get to his little makeshift den. So resting up for the night didn't seem to have any downsides besides loneliness.
He sighed softly, wondering if he'd made the right decision to not insist on traveling with the clan cats. He'd never admit it out loud, but he hated being alone. He spent his entire life roaming the vast world with little to no companions and he was honestly tired of it. He had acquaintances in every corner, cats he could recognize from scent alone and felines who could identify his ginger coat anywhere, but none of them were true friends. What would it take for the tom to suck up his ego and make a friend?
He stopped in his tracks, just a few fox-lengths from the barn, and glanced over his shoulder longingly. Would Flamerose ever want to be his friend?

((Forgive me; I am on mobile until later tonight. I'll do my best! >.< Luckily, I have all my formats saved))
Flurryfoot- Riverclan Medicine cat Out of camp with Morningflight and Yellowstar
The medicine cat, generally a gentle and caring soul, began to feel her nerves fray. She never could have imagined debating going to the aid of shrieks and, in a different time, it wouldn't have been a matter that was up for debate. Yet here Flurryfoot was, nearly seething with frustration at the idea of having to possibly give aid to a loner or rogue. The scream hadn't come from the direction of either Shadowclan or Windclan and she had barely enough supplies as is, so she made a point to them. "We don't know if they're survivors of the fire; they might not even be part of our clan!" she practically spat, "You want me to waste herbs..." The calico's eyes widened as she realized she was staring directly at Morningflight, speaking words of solidarity with a Shadowclan cat. That was a mistake; why on earth had she said that. "Oh, for Starclan's sake..." she hissed to herself, refusing to lift her head and look at Yellowstar, let alone find his gaze.
Her moment of shock and reflection also let her focus on her own bitter words; her gut twisted and threatened to churn. Flurryfoot was most disgusted with the fact that she wanted to let a cat suffer for no reason other than they might not be clan-born; she had just gone against her own moral code and basically admitted to agreeing to the clans merging without discussing anything with Yellowstar to justify her case. A brief and passing thought crossed her mind, hoping that the leader wouldn't take her admission as approval. After moments of her silence, the medicine cat didn't wait for more response from the others, awkwardly shuffling away with her ears pinned back.
"N-nevermind, I'm... I'm being stupid. Who ever it is, they... need help," she stammered, wasting no time before bounding off in the direction of the shrieks.
((Reedsplash, Ben or Wren could notice her at this point, I think. A mild time skip for her running wouldn't hurt. ))

"It's all gone."
Redwing swiveled his ear in the direction of the she-cat's aghast whisper, not turning to face her for fear of dislodging the black tom that was resting across his shoulders. Below, a hill swept away towards the lake, and nestled in the lowlands were the blackened, skeletal remains of the horseplace. Were it not for the size of the timbers and planks which jutted like broken bones into the sky, the barn and twolegnest nearly would have blended in with the soot-covered landscape entirely, another lamentable reminder of what had been. To the north, the moors rolled away from them, as black as the barnyard- if this is what the fire had done to the twolegplace, he hated to see what it had done to camp. For a moment, grief and panic threatened to overwhelm him, but he pushed it back. There was nothing- nothing, he assured himself- that he could do about that now. Rabbitstar, Flamerose, Bramblepaw, Smokebreath... even Fernleap, he thought, anxiety again washing over him- whether they had survived or not was out of his paws, and for the time being there was no use in worrying about it. Right now, he had to help these barn cats.
"W-what-" the black tom began, before breaking off into a small fit of coughing. The other two waited as it subsided, letting the frail tom finish his sentence. "What do we do now?"
Redwing stared, his gaze passing over the landscape. The ashy surface of the lake, usually pristine, blue, and reflective, was covered in a fine layer of drifting ash. In the distance, rather than the green swaying of trees in the forests of ThunderClan and ShadowClan, he could see only coarse black fur- the remains of the trees, blackened and jutting into the sky.
"I'm... not sure," Redwing replied to the tom after a few moments. He continued to scan the horizon, but each part of the landscape looked nearly identical. As his gaze passed to the west, however, something caught his eye. A flash of green? Looking closer he could hazily make out what he thought was the Gathering Island through the hazy atmosphere, and his heart leapt as he realized it appeared to be mostly untouched. Perhaps there was hope after all! The marshlands near it, too, looked as though they were less damaged, though the ash in the air, and coating practically everything around the lake, made it difficult to tell for sure.
"Actually, I have an idea," Redwing added, risking a careful glance at the she-cat. She looked at him with wide eyes, tail flicking from side to side with curiosity.
"Is it the Clans? WindClan, like you were telling us about?" she asked, tilting her head. Redwing blinked, biting back his grief and hiding it from his voice as he spoke.
"No, Dusky. The moor is... well, ruined. Look." He flicked his tail in that direction, and the she-cat nodded. "I'm thinking probably... RiverClan. They live by the water, so if any Clan escaped, it would be them, I think," he continued. "They live that way, just past the marsh." He now flicked his tail that way, past the remains of the twolegplace. "If their medicine cat is alive still, then maybe they can help Midnight." He felt the tom shift slightly on his back, but he didn't bother to respond. A day ago, Midnight probably would have protested, saying that he was fine... but now, the smoke and travel had taken too much of a toll on him, and he could barely talk without falling into a fit of coughing. If they didn't get help soon... Redwing didn't really want to think about it too much.
"Well, what are we waiting for, then?" Dusky meowed, nearly hopping on her paws. She cast an anxious look at her brother, clearly eager to find one of these "medicine cats." Redwing cast another glance across the moor, though he wasn't quite sure what he expected to see. The flash of a ginger pelt? Any sign of life, whether his Clanmates or prey, or even predator... anything to give hope that any of the others would have survived. But all he saw was the dust and ash tossed up by the wind, the charred nothingness of the empty wasteland. Forcing his gaze away, he instead fixed it on the terrain below his paws. He couldn't worry about the moor right now. He just had to worry about finding his way.
"Nothing," he meowed, taking a careful step. "Let's be on our way."

Having somewhat assumed what the two riverclan cats were trying to do, Morningflight lowered her golden head and lifted the pebble from the ground with a tenderness as though it was one of her kits. With perfect precision she rested it upon the little mound which marked the burial site of her daughter, and pressed it carefully into place. Her eyes closed tight as she forced the tears away then sat upright with a grimace, her head still hung as she watched the medicine cat bound away. She spoke firmly now, "We need to follow her, she could get herself into trouble," she stammered. Though the pain in her voice was apparent.

Ham(let)- Barn Kittypet At the ruined two-leg place with Dusky, Midnight and Redwing
The fat, brown tabby had long since forgot about his food and made his way quickly to the barn, now a wreck but managing to stand. He found himself upset that his twolegs had left behind Midnight and Dusky, but it was something he had no control over. His friends didn't seem to mind the loners, but the twolegs didn't share the same relationship that Ham had with them. Despite this, the tom had dearly hoped that the siblings had safely weathered the fire. Ham's tags and bell on his collar made his arrival known, he was sure, but he mewed a tentative, "Hello? You guys okay?" into the wreckage of the barn. He peered a around a burnt wall, his yellowish eyes scanning for life.
At the sight of them, he chirped happily and his ears sprang forward. "Oh, thank the heavens y'all are okay. I was worried sick! Well, as soon as I got back and realized what had happened..." The tom padded through stacks of ash as he made his way toward them. Any previous conversation had been lost on him as he flickered his eyes between them; there was a new face in the crowd. "Did'ja find someone else to add to the family?" He asked inquisitively, blinking happily at Redwing, "I'm Hamlet, but everyone calls me Ham; it's good to meet ya!"
He was suddenly drawn to Midnight, not having noticed the cat's poor shape before; his heart crashed. "Oh no.... is he... is he gonna be okay?"
