Shadowpaw blinked, “Oh, um, you can recognize them by their flowers. Their star shaped.” She mewed. (Totally missed this, sorry Ice! ") "Star shaped." Mooncliff nodded. "Alright, lead the way and I'll keep a look out as we go."

Sableshine was purring quietly, laying down at the edge of camp with a mouse in front of her. Her brother had came back with new moss for her nest and it had made her night.
Tornshade was prowling the edges of camp, wondering what to do. He had gone out hunting earlier so that was out for him. Maybe he should just go out on walks?

Frostberry had padded away to let Burnstone and Nightfire talk, instead moving to give her fur a good grooming. The gentle she-cat noticed Tornshade's pacing and gave a curious noise. Padding over, she inquired softly. "Are you alright, Tornshade?"

Hookjaw was scratching his shoulder with his back leg again. "Dag blast these fleas," he grumbled to himself. "You'd think the cold would've killed them all by now." "You could always pick on one of the apprentices and get them to get them for you, Hookjaw," Snowleaf rasped in reply after hearing the other elder's complaint, her clouded green eyes looking over in the direction of him.

Otterpaw slipped out of camp, the sudden burst of brisk mountain air making her whiskers twitch. She took a deep breath before feeling her heart flutter in her chest like a trapped butterfly, it never felt right being in that musty and enclosed space, she much preferred the open, where she could actually breath. Not only did it feel nice to be able to run and breath fresh air but she was finally out of the watchful eyes of the mountain cats, otterpaw gave a little shiver at the thought of hundreds of eyes on her, watching hungrily. She pushed her thoughts aside as she darted into the undergrowth, ears flat against her head, she swerved between tree and leaped over small gullies, slid under a fallen tree and finally burst out of the forest and it's thick undergrowth. Her paws skidded to a halt as she stopped herself from running straight over a ledge, before her lay a pebble covered lake side, a far call from her homes mud clay and sand shores and sloping banks. Never the less she was grateful this place had water. She scrambled down the steep muddy slope, her paws tingling as they hit the smooth little stones that clattered as she walked. Otterpaw let out a little purr as she felt cool water lap at her paws and the pebbles eventually fall away to sand, she let out a happy sigh as she gazed over the sparkling water, she would get home as soon as possible. Otterpaw was snapped out of her thoughts as water splashed her belly fur, making her jump, she shook her head yet again pushing away the loneliness that was creeping into her mind like brambles as sharp as a cats claws, instead she focused on the water in front of her.
Taking a deep breath and holding it she slitted her eyes and dove under the water, searching the gloom for fish. A bright flash of red scales an caught her eye as a sockeye salmon darted past her, she shot after it, her sleek body shooting through the water like a bullet. Otterpaw saw the salmons yellow-grey tail flicking just in front of her nose and made one last push, momentarily breaking the surface otterpaw skimmed across the water, landing square on the fishes back, she bit down heavily, feeling the fish begin to struggle. Otterpaw rammed herself into the shallows, throwing the fish onto land before it could break free and darting over to it, finishing it of with a satisfying bite.
Otterpaw ran a paw over her face, she had caught three minnows, two arctic graylings and a long nosed sucker they now lay in the shaded overhang along with the salmon. Otterpaw splashed water over them to keep them extra cool, she would take the prettiest scales of her catches once she was done exploring. The young she-cat splashed back into the water, diving in once more, this time she didn't care about catching prey now she was looking out for pretty pebbles and medicinal roots that could be found only by exploring water ways. Otterpaw paddled across the surface of the water, disappointed she hadn't found any shiny thing, suddenly she spotted some familiar green stems that would look like grass to most other cats but she recognized as wild tarragon, a great herb for toothache, calming, digesting and eyesight. The sleek little she-cat clambered onto the mossy bank, she tore off 5 stems, dragging the 3 or 4 feet of herb into the water and onto the pebble bank on the other side, she laid them next to her prey before going to lay on the bank to dy. (she knows so much about herbs because in her kind of clan they all worked together to heal instead of having a medicine cat, it was the same for this in the case of leaders)

"What are you up to, Otterpaw?" The apprentice's mentor, Briarshade, suddenly spoke up behind her. She wasn't mad, in fact she was curious to see her apprentice was collecting what appeared to be herbs. She was never any good at distinguishing the different types of herbs used by the medicine cats, but she was always intrigued by it. "I see you've caught yourself a salmon as well, nicely done," she commented, seeing the fish behind her on the bank. She shivered as a cold gust of wind buffeted her thick fur. "However, I would be more careful as it gets closer to leaf bare, the water gets quite cold and I wouldn't want anything to happen to you if you keep going off by yourself."

(Sounds good, but make sure Otterpaw knows that the medicine duties are for the medicine cats here, and that she's not too overpowered in her hunting skills! She is still young, after all. But I like her history, it seems interesting!)

Otterpaw jumped as she heard a mew sound behind her "Oh briarshade it's you!" she purred "I just saw some tarragon and thought I'd fetch it!" she murmured, her ear twitching as a fly landed on it "I wouldn't worry to much about me going in the water in leaf-bare it'll be much to cold by then, though eels do show up more and I haven't had eel since I left home" She trailed of into thought forgetting that her mentor was still standing, watching her.
