Hmmm.. honestly? I find HiddenClan slightly overdone. But if not BayouClan– CypressClan? The Bald Cypress is one of the main trees in the bayou, so if you want to take an element of that and use it as the name?
I imagine they're both hard in different ways tbh. Squirrel may have her privacy but her own personal sense of honor and pride would be constantly threatening to pull her under. While, Raven and Sly have their dirty laundry aired out for the clan to see, so they must deal with the questioning and embarrassment.
Yup you played the father and uncle. Daddy hated him and Uncle felt sorry for him. Grandma was his favorite, the only one who didn't expect him to be more than what he was. I imagine Goldenpaw dies young, trying to do something heroic. Perhaps.... it's raining and for some reason they're trying to cross the gorge via log. Maybe a kit slips and Goldenpaw manages to keep the kitten on the log but slips and falls himself– maybe he's only got his forepaws on the log and someone– his father? is trying to reach him but they just can't get to him before Goldenpaw slips and falls to his death.. A very "Cliffhanger" scene.
also I made a thing::

Overdone? Really? Ha. My first clan ever made was called HiddenClan, back in '11. It died out after I was banned, but it was fairly successful. That's interesting. I like CypressClan. Not sold yet, but I'll mull it over and see if it settles.
Ravenpaw has never felt embarrassed about Coldpaw's choice. She loves her brother and actually respects him a lo. While other cats see a cat too cowardly to stay in his birth clan, she sees an apprentice who was brave enough to seek out where he belonged rather than settle for what he was given. You mentioned other cats having vague suspicions about Squirrel. Perhaps that could add to her anguish, knowing some cats think it but she can't confront them directly without inevitably proving their gossip right.
cliffhanger indeed. Or loghanger. Once you wrote out an AU scene you had featuring Goldenpaw's death. The one where the she-cat he's always tried to get to like him feels immense regret for being bitter to him, and yet he still forgives her as he lays dying. Also, there was one line that really stuck out at me and I still have saved on my phone notes: "I've spent my whole life asking for the truth, but on my deathbed I want nothing but lies." Hit me very hard. You're such a great writer.
duuuuuuude my only suggestion would be to change "very rarely" to seldom or another synonym. The very seems out of place in the writing style and word choices.

That's so great tho I love it when clans are successful! What I mean is, I love the name but I'm just reminded of the dozens of AshClans and HiddenClan's on the old forums. I don't know if they've shown up here yet but there seemed to be so many. If you want HiddenClan as the name, go for it. I may change AshClan because I may want to use TephraClan or perhaps PumiceClan. SmokeClan?
What would be their hardship, then? The heckling? I imagine that would get tiring after a while. I will definitely take that into consideration! [ I will definitely use it ]
//blushes lightly// I was feeling feels that day. Glad you liked my little fic tho ^_^ my best scenes are death scenes, or scenes were everything is falling apart and there is little hope of ever fixing it.
yuss I couldn't think of a word to exchange it. I'm probably going to do that with the intros, when we write them out. Of course, I'll do them in the style of the banner, so it'll match the background and what not. I'm not sure I'll be able to do that with the allegiances and what not, because we'd need to edit them all the time and that would be time consuming and annoying.

Meh, I'll stick with BayouClan. It's plenty unique. I mostly wanted to see what you thought of HiddenClan. I like both of those. Tephra sounds prettier but pumice is more recognizable. Personally, I don't care too much about using more common clan names, because it won't matter if your clan is memorable in its own right. But up to you. Regardless of the clan name, I will be calling them ash cats.
Yeah, some cats might outright scorn them. Others will just tease, and the rest Raven/Sly know gossip about it behind their backs. I'm thinking that when the inner-clan factions come about, the two siblings will find themselves shunned by the gang of the trouble maker. Speaking of the troublemakers, should we start to come up with their characters?
So basically you're sadistic to readers. >:U
I've dabbled with html a bit, but is there any way to float an image behind a div box? That could give the same effect but is much more easily editable than a banner. If that doesn't work, we could split the background pic into three and float each piece to the left, right, and above the div. It'd be annoying to achieve but could work.

That... is VERY true. AshClan and BayouClan will knock the socks off of any other clan out there. We've spent like 1 year working on this.
We really should. I'm thinking I'll have a cat named Thunderfall. Big grey tom with black paws with hazel eyes. Just thinks he would do a better job as leader. Very nonchalant about murder. What about you? Have any ideas?
I'm bad at writing happy scenes :/
I wonder– hmm. I'll muck around with it and see what I can do?

Over a year, actually. We started thinking of it middle of last summer, when we were planning how to re-open the 5-clan rp under all the new leaders. Back then we just idly chatted about it for a few posts, but the seeds were sown. I'm really excited to finally put the planning to fruition. I was first inspired to make a clan set in a bayou when my youth group drove through southern Louisiana on the way back from camp. When we stopped in New Orleans as well, I knew I wanted swamp clan next to a twoleg cultural hub.
I'm thinking about going anti-expectations with this one. Maybe an undersized she-cat, nothing remarkable to look at. A mottled brown tabby with amber eyes often narrowed with calculation. She had her first taste of power when she, as a senior apprentice, was told to lead a training session because the clan was short-handed on warriors. She's hooked on it like a drug; the thrill of knowing other cats are at mercy to your orders is addicting. So she schemes for leadership. She's quite clever, and often tried to convince the old-habit Mirestar to accept new ideas for hunting or fighting, to little avail. Genuinely thinks she'd be a better leader and believes BayouClan would thrive under her. She's got a half-conscious. She hates the idea of killing cats, but at the same time, if she finds it necessary to get what she "needs", she'll find a way to do it.
I'm thinking of giving her a mate. Someone who is in some ways the opposite: a good heart, but frequently steered wrong by the she-cat he loves. An anti-hero, if you will, not a villain. It'll certainly help give the she-cat more depth and raises interesting questions-- what happens to the bad guy's lover? Haven't decided on names yet.
No big deal if it's a lot of work, we can always figure something else out later. ^^

You're right, I remember you mentioning that trip– that was the same time we also discussed trying something new with Sand and Rain and all them but they weren't for it.
I love that you'll just have an angry she-cat XD Hath no fury like a female scorned and all that. Your character will be amazing, for sure. Give her a mate maybe a clueless one? Kind of naive and her last string to what keeps her moderately sane? Maybe have Mirestar mess up information and that misunderstanding cost the mate his life, that could really set her off depending on how you spin her. Also loving the idea that she's green and doesn't want to kill, that she might think she can do it without bloodshed. That could be something of a story arc, how her perspective on murder changes.
I already love Thunderfall. I'm already picturing him as this complete sociopath, charming and what not but has no patience and would have no problem ending a life– I imagine he's done it a few times. Pushed an annoying apprentice into the gorge, framed the murder of a respected but irritating warrior on a ground rumble... he's not cunning, just ruthless.
I'll work on it tomorrow and see what I can do.

I sorta miss the 5-clan roleplay, but I was beginning to feel like we were beating a dead horse. It just wasn't working anymore. I remember pitching the idea to them again like 6 months back, and they told us they would think about it. When we kept on planning, they thought we were "moving on without [them]". Which I can understand. But then they never gave us their answer and so we sorta died out again.
You know, I thought about killing off the mate. But then I realized that I could really play the anti-hero part and give him a redemption arc. A mate dying would for sure set the she-cat off, but I think what would really drive her over the edge is if he openly turned his back on her. If he realized exactly how messed up she is and ended things with her. And ooh, I love that! Have her start out as rarely every killing but end up a complete monster. I'm thinking he'll be good-natured, but easily blinded by emotion (or in this case, love) from the reality of a situation. He'll have his own stroll on the line between good and evil, wavering between the two. Between his conscience and his wants. Unlike his mate, he'll figure out which side is right.
Interesting character. He's a psychopath, while mine's more of a sociopath. Maybe we can do something with the framed-cat thing-- an old warrior exiled from the clan becomes a streetcat. The first cat to truly know how evil Thunderfall is. At first they spend their exile cold, alone, not much will in life anymore. Until they hear rumors on the street that a "wild cat" has been seen in twolegplace quite often recently. And this exile warrior pieces together the puzzles to figure out it's Thunderfall, looking for rogues-for-hire. And it becomes their reason to live: to figure out how to expose Thunderfall to his birth clan, with undeniable proof. But it's difficult because he's banned from the territory, and AshClan cats have been warned not to talk to him. Maybe Squirrel or Raven are the first ones willing to lend an ear. Somehow they get their own suspicions that the murdered cat's death wasn't how it seemed. And they realize the only one who seems to know anything for sure is the exiled warrior. He's like the officer who is framed by the dirty cop, is kicked out of the force, and spends his every waking minute as a private investigator trying to find proof of his innocence.

I also kind of miss the 5 clan rp but lets be honest– once it went dark the first time, it wasn't going to rise again.
Ooooh that would definitely break her more, if her man turns his back on her. On board with that.
Yes, psychopath was the one I was looking for. Also YES to that plan. An old warrior forced to become a rogue after the clan believes Thunderfall's word over his. Revenge has overtaken everything he is. Perhaps he's willing to sacrifice Raven and Squirrel to take down Thunder? I imagine after however many seasons, he's been rather desperate for an opportunity to take them down. OOH. Maybe Raven is Thunder's apprentice?

or WORSE. Coldpaw could have been Thunder's apprentice. The bitterness would be real

I've debating making her turn into a serial killer. Couldn't do that on the old forums, but it would an interesting twist.
The exiled warrior could be deluding himself with a blurred line between justice and revenge. A good warrior driven half-mad with his obsession. I like it. He convinces himself that two apprentices as collateral to take down a dangerous murderer would be worth it; the ends justify the means, and all that.
I like the idea of Coldpaw better than his sister. Raven's too perceptive-- if Thunder was her mentor, she'd figure out that there's something wrong with him fairly quickly. Maybe part of the reason Coldpaw left was because of Thunder. Maybe he bullied him relentlessly for shying away from the volcano and being drawn to water. Perhaps he even told him, "You're more BayouClan than AshClan," and this is what first gives Coldpaw the idea to run away.

Sand, if you could see anything not allowed here– please let us know. It'll be PG 13, and for sure will stay within the forum rules. I'll review them to double check but as far as I noted, everything seems within bounds?
Welcome, Outcast! We're almost done planning tbh, just got to work on the layouts. Feel free to work on your characters and give input on the plot

Slay queen: We'd love to have you! The wait shouldn't be too long. You're welcome to lurk or give suggestions if you have any!
Which reminds me, I need to pull some color swatches for you, Fae. How many colors are we looking for? I'd assume at least two base shades and an accent?

Sorry it took me so long! I wasn't able to do it until this afternoon, and I spent probably an hour fiddling with the colors to try and find the correct shades.
Also, we don't have to use the specific example I posted-- that was mostly so we could see how the colors worked together. We can swap things around.
You're also infinitely better than me when it comes to color schemes, so any suggestions are always appreicated. I'm mostly just trying to nail a swamp/deep woods look without it turning into mint chocolate ice cream T.T

Good idea, I knew something looked a bit off about it. It's too light. I leave it in your paws~
What shall I work on next? I guess the information. Let's see, we need: territory descriptions, clan personality, clan history, perhaps a section on prey & predators, battle and hunting techniques...what else? Herb list, perhaps, or maybe that's too excessive.
I've been meaning to pitch an idea to you. In my old WolfClan, I had the idea to make an "achievement" section, just for fun. It was basically a list of different milestones that we checked off when we reached them. For instance, "Active Clan (Reach 100 Pages)" "MegaClan (Over 50 Members)" "Graduation (Promote 20 Apprentices to Warrior Status". That sort of thing.

If you can work on territory descriptions, like compile what we've said already in a nice, eloquent format then the rest comes easily. Clan History + About I've kind of kept simple and we can customize it to what we want [ that graphic at the top of the page is the basics I kind of got from what we've discussed ]. Definitely a section on prey/predators and a herb list are probably the best thing we can do. I don't think hunting/battle techniques will be needed unless we just want to go into more detail?
I love that idea!! Achievements will definitely give incentives for activity.
