The cats traveled to the lower camp, which was bustling with activity; the middle camp cats had already arrived, and made themselves comfortable. The medicine-den was full, every empty nest used, as well as the few empty nests in the warriors and apprentices dens. The elders had moved to the nursery to make their den available, and Darknight and a few warriors had drug a large hollow log from the beach, the driftwood having been filled with three nests. The only spaces left at this point was the elders' den and the driftwood. Brightpaw made her way to the apprentices' den, planning on sharing Blossompaw's nest with her. Meanwhile, the prey pile was sufficiently empty, despite the middle camp cats having brought prey with them. All that was left was a few small lizards and frogs, and a few minnows from the stream, brought from the middle camp. Anything else they brought was already gobbled up by hungry cats. Darknight greeted the cats from the upper camp. "Welcome! Eat anything that's left; you'll need your strength," he told them. Aurorastar was padding over, having arrived early in the morning, with Violetbreeze's help. "The kits haven't eaten yet," she remarked, having just come from the nursery. Darknight: "They can wait until after the battle. Warriors need their strength for this fight." "Absolutely not!" was Aurorastar's angry response. "We always make sure the kits have been fed, regardless of what is to come." "The kits won't be fed in the future until the shark is killed," Darknight told her bluntly. "But as you command, Aurorastar," he answered rather sarcastically. Galegust was sitting just outside Darknight's den, having traveled through the night to make it to the lower camp to be with her mate.

Inkshade quickly found her sister, Finchsong, as soon as she had arrived. They were sitting just outside it, catching up. Finchsong's kits were crowding close to her, wanting to be outside of the crowded nursery, but afraid to venture out into the forest of a hundred or so legs. Flurryheart was with Flamesoul. She was of course fussing over him, asking him if he was sure he was ready for the battle, leaving him feeling embarrassed. He loved his mother very much, but currently he was trying to find a way to slip away from her. Hollowpaw was sticking very close to Zinniapetal, afraid she would be swept away by all the cats. She knew they were all her clanmates, but she didn't know most of them, and she was feeling hurt that her brother hadn't said good bye to her.

Delphapool was sitting alone in the lower camp. She didn't go there often, so she glanced around a lot, trying to soak in every detail. The placed seemed pretty crowded though, and was filled with many, many cats. She got up and decided to visit the nursery.

(Aw poor Hollowpaw! XD)
Zinniapetal motioned Hollowpaw over to the prey pile. "Let's grab a couple of frogs and minnows for the kits. I don't care what Darknight says; we can send extra hunting patrols out, those kits need to eat. They shouldn't go hungry just because others have to fight..." she murmured. "Want to help?" she asked Delphapool, who was near the nursery.
Brightpaw caught sight of Flamesoul, and was unable to stop herself. She ran over to him, not even noticing Flurryheart there, almost crashing into him before she slammed to a stop in front of the tom. "Flamesoul!" she called to the young warrior. "I've missed you so much! And this camp!" she added in quickly.

Hollowpaw padded toward the prey pile, looking over what was left. She crouched down and grabbed a small lizard and a minnow between her jaws before starting for the nursery, careful not to get stepped on. She was still pretty small. Flamesoul blinked, his eyes going wide. Flurryheart's fussing was cut off by Brightpaw getting between them. She was about to say something, but instead gave a small smile and padded off to give the two some space.

Brightpaw blushed. "Oh, sorry. I forgot that your mom was here. Didn't mean to interrupt," she mewed, stepping back.
Zinniapetal walked into the nursery, and looked to the kits. "Here's lunch, little ones!" she exclaimed, dropping the three minnows at their paws. She looked over to Inkshade and Finchsong.

Flamesoul chuckled a bit. "N-no. It's alright. I was honestly trying to get away from her. She was fussing over me like I'm a kit."
Hollowpaw padded in behind Zinniapetal, setting down what she had. She turned to Finchsong when she realized that all three of the queens kits were standing right next to her, staring at her intently. Finchsong smiled at Zinniapetal. "Thank you."

Zinniapetal responded, "Of course! I can't believe Darkheart said the kits shouldn't eat; I don't care what attack is going to go on, the kits must be fed! They'll be our warriors someday, and can't go hungry," she explained, looking down at the cute kits. "What are your names?" she asked, having not met Finchsong's kits yet.
Brightpaw chuckled, then questioned, "So how has the camp been? You know, other than the shark and what not?" she added, realizing how silly her question must be. But she wasnt sure exactly what to say to Flamesoul...

All three kits pulled their attention away from Hollowpaw and looked up at Zinniapetal. Bloodkit spoke up. "I'm Bloodkit. This is Spark-kit and he's Veilkit." She gestured to each of her brothers respectively. Spark-kit squeaked, then suddenly started bouncing. "Are you going to be in the battle tomorrow? Is she going to be in the battle tomorrow? She's almost the same size as us! Does that mean that we can be in the fight too?!" Hollowpaw shrunk back behind Zinniapetal, feeling embarrassed while Veilkit hid behind his mother at the thought of having to fight.
Flamesoul gave a small shrug. "Oh, ya know... there's been little to no food for most of us because of the shark, same-old, same-old..." He gave an awkward chuckle before trailing off into silence.

"What wonderful names! Have you discovered your powers yet?" Zinniapetal wondered, leaning down closer to the kits. She had always loved kits so much...As the kits began asking questions of the battle, she responded, "No, Hollowpaw and I are medicine-cats. We will be healing the cats that come back hurt. Delphapool will be fighting, though," she spoke of the young warrior.
"And you all haven't been able to swim...not that you care too much," Brightpaw teased, bumping into his shoulder playfully.

Finchsong smiled gently as she watched her kits, nudging Veilkit out from behind her. "Don't worry, you won't have to fight just yet," she whispered to him, earning a shy smile. Spark-kit and Bloodkit looked in Delphapool's direction, their eyes wide. "Wow," they breathed out together before Bloodkit turned back to Zinniapetal. "Oh! Our powers! Yeah, we all know what they are." Spark-kit began hopping around the nursery in excitement, his fur sticking out in every direction. Of course he promptly tripped and fell against Zinniapetal, causing a tiny bolt of electricity to pass through her.
Flamesoul laughed lightly. "Yeah... I've been hunting in the forest mainly, but none of the others have been able to swim. It's really taking it's toll on us and I'm glad we're finally doing something about it."

Zinniapetal let out a "oof!" as the jolt went through her, but smiled immediately and giggled. "What a strong little warrior. What about you?" she questioned shy little Veilkit.
Brightpaw's grin turned to a frown. "I'm excited to fight to protect my clan, but I'm nervous too. What if someone dies? I don't want to lose anyone..."

Spark-kit pulled himself away from Zinniapetal quickly, an apologetic smile on his face. Veilkit looked down, looking as if he wasn't going to answer. Bloodkit rolled her eyes at Veilkit, then jumped behind him and said, "Boo." Though it was merely spoken, Veilkit's eyes went wide and he gasped, going invisible.
Flamesoul studied Brightpaw for a moment before pressing his pelt to hers momentarily to comfort her. He pulled away quickly. "We'll be alright. We're strong together."

(Good question! It's sort of in between; there's some sort of genetic component to it, and a lot of times family groups may have some powers that they are more likely to have. Take, for instance, Darknight's family. Everyone in his family tends to have powers such as Ice, Darkness, Death, and Earth, because they tend to take mates with these same sort of powers. Every now and then, you get a kit like Emberkit that has a different power, such as Fire. So it shows that the other powers may be recessive, whereas others are dominate and more likely to be expressed. In the gene pool, ALL powers are in their potential genetics. It's just that most are unlikely to be expressed. If you have more open cats that take mates with drastically different powers then you have a shot at anything So short answer is they tend to follow patterns but there's a chance to have a random power in there every now and then ) Echoheart clicked her tongue. "Well, you certainly have enough power. Still need even more focus. Have you not been doing the exercises that I showed you?" she nagged her apprentice. "I told you, to focus your powers you have to do them. You only have one moon left to get better with your powers, Breezepaw. You won't always have a mentor around to guide you, and the clan will be relying on you," she told her. She was being rather blunt, but she needed the she-cat to understand. Brightpaw was already walking away, angry at the tom. Its stupid to have feelings for him anyways. He's a warrior, and I'm still an apprentice! My parents wouldn't approve... She ignored the tom, going off on her own. Ravenfall nodded. "Yeah, Spiritvoid. That's smart," she replied. Upon arriving back at the upper camp, it was clear Rowanpaw had already taken an inkling to the two new apprentices. He could tell Hollowpaw was not yet adjusted to the dark camp, and knew it may take her awhile. But he was so excited to show her the apprentices' den, until he remembered she was a medicine-cat. Twilightpaw meanwhile stayed clear of the new cats, though she liked Zinniapetal (the medicine cat had been there when she and Rowanpaw were born, she remembered.) Rowanpaw sat with the young cats in the center of camp as they waited for Aurorastar to make her announcement. "What do you think so far?" he wondered, referring to the upper camp, the mountains, and the cats here. (sorry this reply is kind of late and thanks for the explanation) "I know!" Breezepaw snapped, immediately regretting it. As if her parents hadn't already made it clear enough that she needed to focus on her studies more. She did try, but she hated following orders, no matter how well she'd done them. It always felt like the other cat had won and she'd lost somehow. She knew it was a terrible mindset to have, but she couldn't seem to stop herself from instinctively feeling that. "I mean, yeah," she quickly stammered, trying to cover up her little outburst. She quickly returned her gaze back to the pool.

Delphapool watched Zinniapetal and the kit's with amusement. The kit's were very cute, indeed. She hoped that they'd all grow up strong and healthy.

(It's all good penguin! We're attacking the shark! So this should be fun. Hope ur dance went good Snow!!!)
Zinniapetal smiled. "What a special power!" she exclaimed to the kit.
The day went by quickly, everyone sleeping to gain strength. Zinniapetal and Hollowpaw helped the other medicine cats prepare herbs and nests for any injured cats. Spirits willing, no on would be hurt, though. In the morning, the cats gathered around Aurorastar, Darknight, and Flurryheart from their perch above the leaders den.

Aurorastar began. "I will lead the cats out at The Rocks. The water powered cats will draw it to The Rocks after winged cats spot it up ahead. We need cats in the water to draw it to where we want it. Darknight and Flurryheart will lead the attack on the beach. We need everyone in position and prepared to jump into action the minute it is requested. Zincclaw will be on the beach and in constant communication with me; he may fight, but only if it does not conflict with messaging." Zincclaw let out a single nod, clear. Aurorastar looked to her deputy and head warrior. "Ready?" she asked them. Darknight let out a gruff, "Of course. If I have to stay in this spirit-forsaken camp, I'm going to at least a make it safe for my future kits...Galegust is expecting another litter," he explained. Aurorastar didn't like that response at all, but she didn't have time to think about that now. She would handle Galegust after the attack.
Zinniapetal looked to her apprentice. "Did you make sure to set cobwebs on some sticks? Let's go ahead and take them down to the beach, I've got some herbs. Oh, and someone else already say out moss to dry there, so we'll be able to dry fur. But we will need some moss for drinking water!" she just remembered. Her heart was in her stomach.

Flurryheart nodded to her leader. "Ready as I'll ever be." Her heart was beating fast as she scraped her claws against the perch.
Hollowpaw opened her mouth to speak a few times, but closed it again when her mentor continued speaking. She eventually just sat silently and let her finish before speaking. "Yes, the cobwebs are on the sticks, I agree we should take them now. I can run to grab some fresh moss as soon as we finish setting the rest of the things up. Flurryheart and Darknight are attacking once the shark is beached. Their cats can help us carry some things as they make their way there." Hollowpaw spoke as calmly as she could with all the excitement running through her. She knew Zinniapetal was likely feeling stressed, nervous, and scared all at once.

"Then let's begin out attack!" the leader called out, and all the cats of CrystalClan yowled out, battle cries surrounding the camp.
Zinniapetal nodded, surprised at how well Hollowpaw was doing. She was so calm, prepared, and was working quite well. Shes so sdvanced... her mentor thought to herself. "Let's go then. Pray to the spirits we don't lose any cats!"

Ravenfall was flying up above the coral reef, more than a hundred tail lengths up in the air, searching for signs of the shark. Beside her was Falconfeather, Cloudwhisker, and Gustpaw. The other winged cats were searching other areas for the beast. "How do we know that it's the right shark?" Gustpaw asked. "None of us have seen it before." "Well, I guess we'll just have to look at it and see. I'm sure if it shows too much interest in cats, it's the one we want," Ravenfall responded.
Aurorastar waited with the water cats down at The Rocks, near the end where the chase would likely begin. Raindrop was beside Riversong, nervous; she had watched this monster eat Kelppelt alive...she would know the shark when she saw it. She just hoped that she was able to swim fast enough to make it back to the safety of The Rocks when they drew it out.

(I would say welcome home but I am not in your house.)
Flurryheart waited anxiously beside Darknight, her gaze darting between the cats in the air, and the ones waiting to jump into the water. Her muscles were tense with anticipation and she drew her gaze to the water, almost expecting the shark to leap out into the air and announce itself.

(XD I hope not. Otherwise that would be considerably creepy! ) Ravenfall finally caught sight of the shark; it was circling around the coral reef, swimming lazily, as though it didn't have a care in the world. The cats flew over to Aurorastar and the water cat. Ravenfall motioned in the direction of the shark, giving the description of the location. The cats jumped in the water, swimming that way. Raindrop was scared, but swam towards the reef; they had to draw it towards the Rocks so they could led it to the beach. Brightpaw looked to Flamesoul, who she was next to in the shallows; the waves crashed against her gently, and the water reached her belly fur. "How long do you think it will take to get the shark here?"

( Sooo watcha eating?) Flamesoul looked at Brightpaw, ignoring the uncomfortable lap of the water against his legs. "Part of me is hoping we won't have to and that it'll just leave, the other part is hoping it'll be fast so we can finally get this over with."

(...how'd you know I was eating O.o *hides under covers scared* Smoked sausage stew yummy! ) "I don't think it's leaving," Brightpaw murmured, noticing action going on off shore; it was clear the water cats were in the process of drawing it in. She saw the winged cats swooping in an out. Trying to get the shark off the swimming cats maybe? Then there were screams. Zincclaw spoke. "Aurorastar said they're on their way to the beach. Keep fighting no matter what! We've already lost a cat-" he announced. Brightpaw gasped. "Oh no!" Zinniapetal, behind the group of cats getting ready to fight, standing far enough back out of the water, on the sandy beach, looked to her apprentice. "Lost? Is there...no chance we can rush over there and save them?" she whispered, mostly just to herself. It was clear Aurorastar wasn't requesting medical aid...which meant the cat was gone. "Who could it be?" she cried out.

(And of course, everyone is free to let their cats get injured in whatever way they like, severely or not, whatever you like to do with your character and you may kill them off too if you like, but then that means you lose the character. There will be plenty of deaths so don't feel the need to kill off one of your characters unless you want to )
