Thunder and Shadow excerpt/discussion!

ShadowClan is just getting worse and worse, I truley do fear for Violetkit's upbringing. Also Tawnypelt was accidently called deputy, lol, are you teasing us Erins?

Heh, it calls Twigkit Twigpaw on page 65/45. Anyways, I don't really know what to think on this. I still need to finish TAQ, but I don't really like that Twigkit ALSO wants to be a medicine cat. three is enough for me.

Violetkit is obviously not getting the same amount of affection the regular Clan kits are getting. It's a frickin disgrace too since ShadowClan literally took her to be special and all and then for whatever stupid reason decided to treat her like this. The poor thing is so alone and sad and no one cares. Pinenose is the opposite of affectionate too.

ShadowClan in general seems to be a complete and utter mess.

Also I wonder if Onestar is on his last life, he seems to be acting a little more stern than usual. But I like they introduced Darktail and his rogues so quickly.

Jayfeather is such a jerk. Like, he's not well-suited to be a mentor at all. He just doesn't have the personality for it. I think he may be slightly jealous since Alderpaw has a prophecy he's involved with and Jayfeather's "time" is over. IDK. He's just being more of a jerk than he usually is. To the point where he's becoming quickly disliked by me.

Gah I feel so bad for all of them, poor babies. At least Needlepaw will hopefully look after Violetkit now.

I think Twigkit probably only says she wants to be a medicine cat because she's close to Alderpaw and admires him versus her actually wanting to be one. Kinda like how Hollyleaf admired and wanted to be a medicine cat at first.

Maybe...but right now he leaves a lot to be desired. I definitely wouldn't want to be his apprentice.
But he did seem bitter when Alderpaw mentioned the prophecy.

Okay, I just read it. And poor Violetkit. :c She's so lonely, but hopefully Needlepaw will take care of her now. As for the timeline, chapter 1 says that it's been nearly a moon since Alderpaw returned home. Chapter 2 states that it takes place 2 days after chapter 1 and Littlecloud is now dead. I expected it as much. still sad though. Also Pinenose's kits are already 6 moons old, meaning they are probably now apprentices. And chapter 3 takes place half a moon after Alderpaw brought Twigkit to visit her sister. And lol! Twigkit wants to be a medicine cat. Sorry sweetie, but TC already has too many of those.

I also can't believe that Furzepelt is dead. One of our old DF trainees, but in no doubt in StarClan. I always kind of liked her and may StarClan light her path always. Also, Onestar lost a life. I wonder how many he has now...


A side nose here, it was great to see Echosong again. This was her first POV. And I'm glad she's still alive, but she's also so alone. :c I know she's older now and I don't know if she'll survive alone forever. A part of me also wants to know who the tom that gave her the prophecy was. And where is Frecklewish?! Still with her twoleg? Come on, Echosong needs you!

3? I thought only two cats died. Unless the third one is just Onestar's life.

But, yeah. Quite a few cats will probably die in this book. I hope Violetkit will be okay. :c I mean, I know she is the POV character, but still.

But he was fine in Bramblestar's Storm. This is a newly trained apprentice who has anxiety issues. Jayfeather needs to learn to be more patient. I wouldn't call him abusive, but Jayfeather is more harsh than usual now. Leafpool tells him several times to stop being grouchy and he just snarls at her.

He wasn't well in BrS though, he was just coping better than Dovewing and Lionblaze. He's always been blind, so him losing his powers what just him returning back to his "norm". But even that still takes time to get used to. And I mean Yellowfang is also grouchy, Hawkheart too, there's plenty of other grouchy medicine cats. Just because Jayfeather is younger, doesn't really make him much different, and we're seeing things from Alder's pov, so it can be biased.

I bet the rogues are going to attack a ThunderClan patrol, before they head to ShadowClan. Violetkit is totally going to be a cinnamon roll, the poor thing.

Needlepaw went from my like list to meh. If she keeps her promise to Violetkit she will go back.

I feel so bad for Violetkit. I'm glad that the characters in the books don't forget about how cruel ShadowClan was with her. Alderpaw was rightfully disgusted with Rowanstar and thought he had no heart, which makes me like him even more. You go Alder!

Honestly, Jayfeather should grow up already. He's what, 40/50 moons old?

Pros:

Violet kit's Pov. I really wanted it to be Needlepaw, but she's getting the spotlight in another way. Violetkit is the odd one out. Poor kid.

One star loses a life and a cat dies! Finally!

Echosong's Pov in the prologue was interesting. I am certain that the gray Tom she sees is Clear Sky/Skystar.

Cons:

Needlepaw became a jerk, but not as much as Clear Sky in the DOTC series.

Seriously? Why can't Twigkit become a warrior instead of a Medicine cat? We don't need FOUR of them!

No loss of ThunderClan life in the battle of WindClan and Darktail's faux SkyClan. Come on, Erins! ThunderClan is not immortal!
