"Rest when Stone's out to kill you?" Hazel huffed, her hackles rising with frustration. "Yea, VERY funny." Turning and stalking to the den, she muttered, "Seriously, what is it with you males and your wishing death on each other?"

"I was out here to PROTECT you Hazel!" Stone snapped with a snarl over his shoulder, causing Izusa to seemingly shrink in her own fur. "Are you really so short-minded that you don't remember what it's like to feel like you failed."

"Shut up." Hazel barked bluntly at Stone as she slunk into the den.

"What." Stone woofed flatly, his voice still thick with pent-up frustration, while Izusa flinched and crouched down in nervous submission.

"She probably doesn't even know how she became expectant in the first place." Stone muttered pointedly. "Whether she's fine with this or not, I did fail. She hasn't even known that dog for three moons - let alone tried actually getting to know him - and she assumes he's trustworthy. Now she's pregnant with the pups of someone I can't trust, and if you really think that's not failure for the one who's supposed to be protecting her then you must have a twisted view on the difference between positive and negative!"

"What matters is you're an uncle, daddy!" Izusa whimpered, clearly desperate for the tension to disappear.

"You don't understand, Izusa." Stone woofed in reply to his daughter, his fur prickling and ears flattening with stress.

(Well technically Hazel didn't know she was pregnant until one moon in, remember? cx Just pointing that out..)

"That does not mean I trust Talon. Hazel's decisions are putting her in situations she'll probably regret, like having to be responsible for a bunch of pups." Stone growled. "I should've been here to keep protecting her."

"I'm not wallowing in self pity!" Stone scrambled to his paws and faced Fang with a snarl, obviously offended by the comment. "I'm disappointed at my sister for mating with someone I can't trust!"

"You don't understand! Hazel's made plenty of choices in the past that got her into trouble!" Stone barked in frustration, curling his tail around Izusa when she yipped in fright.

"I obeyed Branch against my own will up until he tried to send someone to do away with her." Stone woofed. "Then I stopped being pushed around and did what was right for my sister." Narrowing his eyes, he growled, "Hazel only ever seems to do what's not right. I'm not sure even instinct would help her take care of a pup!"

"Yeah, maybe she will." Stone muttered sarcastically, mostly to himself. "Keep holding out hope for that, 'cause I've given up." Clearly hurt by everyone's lack of understanding, he got to his paws, picked Izusa up by the scruff, and stalked out of camp.

(He'll settle down later, but he'll still be inwardly mad at Talon.)

(I said ONE week later. Hazel's not due for another week.
Also, I am extremely high-string right now because my birthday party's starting soon and my dad and brother haven't left yet so please forgive my temper, I'm trying so freaking hard to keep from exploding irl >.<')

Hazel was noticeably growing irritable from Talon's worrying over her, which certainly didn't help in making amends with Stone - not that she planned on doing so. Right now she was trying to sit up straight, her hackles rising every time she thought she glimpsed a flash of gray or white.

Stone had remained bitter, holding a silent grudge against Hazel and Talon over the past week. At the moment he was watching Izusa half-heartedly play-chew his tail. The normally rambunctious white she-pup had grown nervous and despondent due to the constant tension around her.

(...Nothing, I'd thought you knew I had something planned O.o)

As Izusa idly shook her head, Stone huffed irritably. "She's hardly three moons old. She's gotta stay in camp where it's safe."
