oh yes, CJ has the attitude of a full arab when it comes to working but just hanging out he is a sweetie
They had arrived. Eli had gotten their invitation through a touch of bribery so tonight, he and Nova were the ever so excited couple from some city who were friends of some friends or something like that... It didn't really matter who they were to Eli as long as they got what they wanted out of this little excursion. The car pulled up to a ginormous house and Eli's hazel eyes narrowed, the thin lines in the corners of his eyes becoming more apparent. They had planned for this and yet he still couldn't help but feel slightly unprepared. They already had a buyer for the information they were about to steal but if there was one thing that Eli had learned about people, it was that they could back out at any moment... But he couldn't focus on that right now, he needed to get ready to play his part. Eli stepped out of the car, buttoning the tux that he may or may not have stolen on one of their previous outings. Running a hand through his dark auburn hair he opened an umbrella to keep the light drizzle from ruining his illusion of pompousness. Eli stepped around the car and, holding the umbrella over the door, opened it for Nova. He grinned at her and offered his arm, "Ready to make some money?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

The car ride over seemed to last an eternity. Why was it that time seemed to pass so much slower when you were excited about something? The diminutive thief could barely sit still, such was her bubbling enthusiasm for their evenings escapades. When eventually they pulled up, before a rather grandiose building she cast a sideways glance at her partner in crime. People were milling about, dressed to the nines in designer labels and thousand dollar suits, her own white dress seeming suddenly rather inferior. She didn't really care, fashion was never really on the forefront of her mind, additionally she hadn't paid for it anyway. It may have been a relatively inexpensive outfit compared to the fancy gowns of the other women stepping from gleaming cars, but that didn't mean it didn't look exquisite. The light silken fabric clung to her feminine figure, flattering in all the right places. Her heels although tall, were still practical should they need to make a hasty escape. She let out a small sigh of pleasure, biting her lower lip slightly as she looked up at Eli. A clear sign she was eager to get moving, that and her slender fingers rapped impatiently on her legs, ruffling the fabric. Without a word her companion stepped from the car, opening an umbrella and stepping around the car to open the door for her. Stepping out, legs surprisingly long despite her short stature. Before taking his arm she adjusted the small fur shawl, a lighter cream than her dress and flicked her raven black hair back in to place, with its carefully crafted curls that framed her elegant features. She took his arm wordlessly, dipping her head in agreement, from just his touch she could tell he was as eager as she was to get on with this. She looked up at his face, studying his eyes quickly before looking back towards the impressive structure before them. She never said much. In fact she never really said anything. She was pretty much mute, something that added an air of mystery to her but that she also found insanely frustrating when trying to get a point across. Eli seemed to manage however, mostly with how long he had known her but also with the aid of her phone. There wasn't much that couldn't be said in text form or with a particular look.

Eli led them up the walk, umbrella tilted slightly as the rain shifted directions a bit. Security was everywhere, trying to blend in but obvious to a trained eye by their tendency to be large and angry looking. Plus most of them had ear pieces and were constantly murmuring into them... That was fine by him, it wasn't like he didn't love a challenge or anything. Pausing at the entrance he reached into his finely fitted charcoal tuxedo, pulling out the gilded invitation he had been able to swipe off of someone, in exchange for a bag the man's wife had just been dying to have. It had been such an easy job that Eli had actually laughed when the man had said that that was all they had to do for the invitation. The memory helped him genuinely smile as the man shrewdly inspected their invitation. Finally he nodded to the two and they were in. Eli stopped for a moment just inside to place the umbrella off to the side and then strolled around the party, a faint smile crinkling the corners of his eyes as he whispered to his partner. "Judging from the looks of things, I need to get upstairs, now I'm sure there is a back entrance somewhere so we can peak around for that but..." He paused to greet a couple in front of them and then proceeded to talk with the man for a moment, lies easily rolling off of his tongue. After all he had done just this very thing at dozens of other parties. Finally he excused himself and they began strolling again. "Anyways, as I was saying, I'm going to need a distraction if I want to be able to get upstairs unnoticed... The kitchen looks like it's in the opposite direction of where I would be, you think you can get in there and start a small fire?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

She fell in to stride with him effortlessly, the light silk flowing around her ankles, lifted slightly to keep the hem from trailing over the damp ground. Even in her inexpensive dress she looked like she belonged here, amongst high society. With her finely boned features and porcelain skin. There was something vaguely regal about the way she carried herself, and beside him they made a perfect picture. She greeted the other party goers with a curt nod, that was both friendly and slightly discouraging. Preventing them from attempting to engage her in further conversation, which of course she didn't really mind but she wasn't going to hassle Eli by making him explain that she didn't speak. Not tonight of all nights, with their biggest score in a long while at the forefront of her mind. As he lent in close she smiled, for any observer it would look like he had just told her something amusing, the perfect disguise. He turned his attention to whom she assumed were the hosts, greeting them as though he had known them his whole life, damn he made it look so easy. Once they were through the entrance hall and the surging fray of partygoers she released his arm, surveying their surroundings with the bemused features of a nosy guest, but the critical eye of a criminal. His voice broke through her reprieve and she turned to face him. A fire huh? Well that was something she could certainly manage, wasn't like she hadn't done it before. She smirked, that dangerous sparkle lighting her emerald green eyes. She nodded, perhaps a little too enthusiastically, hey she couldn't help if she was excited. She gestured in the direction he was referring. A silent question 'Did you want me to go now?' Perhaps he wasn't ready to enact the plan, perhaps he wanted to mill around a little more, size up future victims. Heck she could easily pickpocket half of these chumps before they had finished their first drinks.

He was anxious to get the job done, but he knew better than to try anything too drastic right away, better to wait until most of these people were at least a little tipsy. Eli gnawed on the inside of his cheek as he weighed his options. His hazel gaze raked over the crowded hall with a thoughtful concentration before he broke into a grin and shook his head. "The party is only just beginning and besides, there is more than one way to make a profit at these kinds of things." He said with a wink. He was lousy at pickpocketing himself but he knew Nova could take them all for their money in minutes. He paused a waitress in her rounds to take two glasses of champagne off of her tray and passed one to Nova and took a small sip of his own, "Shall we darling?" He asked, a roguish grin gracing his features. Taking a stroll once again he nodded at those he passed by, smiling pleasantly and offering a polite greeting here and there, letting Nova do what she did best while he distracted people with a grace that seemed like he belonged there. Some of the people that passed by he recognized, others new faces. The new faces were the ones he paid particular attention to, taking in their outfits, trying to size up just how important they really were for his own profit.

Nothing gave her a thrill more than the preparation before doing something that society tells her she shouldn't, something that most people wouldn't even consider had become second nature to her. She blew her cheeks out in mock annoyance as he decided to wait for the drinks to flow before carrying out their master plan, but agreed they could do much better simply mingling. She inclined her head slightly, sizing up their options before agreeing he was right. She accepted the drink graciously, taking a sip and finding the bubbles fizzing in the back of her nose. It was clearly expensive, a display of wealth on their gracious hosts part. She wasn't going to complain, it was rare they drank the 'good stuff' and she was damned well going to enjoy it. Falling in to step with him she rested a hand gently on his arm. In a crowd she was all the more conscious of her height, or more specifically her lack of it. People towered over her and she found herself moving a little closer to her partner. One benefit of her small stature however, no one noticed her. As they passed she deftly unlatched a fine diamond bracelet from the wrist of a woman in a dress that probably cost the same as a deposit on a house. She slipped the item in to the small pocket on the fur shawl, no one any the wiser to what she had just done. By the time they reached the center of the room she had acquired three more bracelets and half a dozen wallets loaded with bank notes.

After a couple of rounds around the room Eli was getting anxious to get on with the plan. He set his now empty glass of champagne on a passing tray and tilted his head down to Nova's ear. "What say we get on with the original task at hand? After all, the merriment can't last all night." He said, raising his head again and grinning at his partner. Giving the hand on his arm a pat he slipped away, towards a staircase that he had seen one of the waiters enter on one of their pickpocketing laps. Once he was upstairs he would be able to find his way to the main study, which was where he needed to be, but he needed to get up the stairs without being noticed first. Pausing to make small talk with a group of men he laughed at a few jokes, got a few business cards and then moved on. He pulled out his phone and began typing. Ready when you are... He wrote, glancing up to see how Nova's efforts were going. He slipped his phone and his hands into his pockets and stood, glancing around at everyone, nodding as people passed by, an easy smile on his face. He was trying to stand still but his foot tapped against the floor lightly, matching the beat of the music.

Her shawl was growing heavy with their loot, and that smirk of satisfaction touched her carefully painted lips. There always seemed to be this delighted glow around her when she was stealing, as though it was the only thing that gave her true pleasure, which was true to some extent. When your life didn't have much you learned to love the things you were good at, the things that kept you going. When he lent close, whispering in her ear she was sure she had fleeced about everyone she could, so of course she was eager for the change in pace. She parted ways before they reached the staircase, finding her own way towards the kitchen. Amazingly no one stopped her, when a waiter glanced in her direction she gestured to her empty glass and was ushered through. Surprisingly she found the kitchen empty. The room was ar large as her first appartment, the surfaces solid granite polished to a high shine. Crystal glasses glimmered in glass cabnets, catching the light from the many sunken spotlights that glimmered above her. She whistled softly, impressed by the room perhaps more so than with the rest of the house. Would be a shame to have to set any of it on fire, but not that much of a shame that she wouldn't do it. She prepared quickly, soaking a kitchen towel in alcohol and leaving it on the gas powered stove. Only once her phone bleeped with his message did she light it. The rag led from the flames to a bundle of newspapers, easy fuel for this little fire. Happy with her work she backed away, vanishing back in to the crowd. It was one of the waiting staff that descovered the fire, and in his panic grabbed the closest vessel filled with liquid. Foolish man should have taken the time to check what it was he was throwing in to the flames, for what he had mistaken for water was actually vodka, the liquid rapidly combusting and drenching the counter in flame. Already it was out of control, the worktops were lined with bottles of spirits which caught quicker than the frightened man could move them, exploding and sending burning liquor and glass shards flying. Only when the blaze had begun to consume a large portion of the kitchen did the man decide to raise the alarm. Staff beginning to usher people outside as a group of people, including the hosts rushed towards the rapidly growing inferno. Nova was perplexed by the level of panic, how many people did it take to put out a stove fire? As she too was ushered out of the building she reached out to collect an unopened bottle of that expensive champagne, everyone was far too concerned with the fire to notice.

People were panicking now. Eli took that as his chance and slipped through the door leading up the staircase. Climbing stair after ridiculously expensive stair he passed a few of the staff rushing down the stairs. He faked concern, telling them to get outside and that he would check for others upstairs. Reaching the top he paused and glanced around. The study was the third rood on the right if he remembered correctly. Making his way there he tried the door. It was locked, which he took as a good sign. Taking a lock pick out of his bag he got to work, concentrating only on getting the door unlocked. The door clicked and he quickly made his way inside. He stopped a moment, taking in the incredible workmanship that obviously went into making this study. The walls were lined with leather bound books, most of which were probably never toughed. The desk was polished wood, the likes of which you would think could only be found in movies. His nose scrunched in slight disgust of the excessiveness of it all. Now it was time to get to work. Cracking his knuckles as he made his way around the desk he opened the file drawer, leafing through until he found the file he was looking for. He quickly tucked it into his coat before pulling out a flash drive and plugging it into the computer. It took a while but he was able to download the bank reports needed to make the full amount of money offered. Sneaking back downstairs he paused, eyes wide as what seemed like the entire kitchen and then some was on fire. Deciding not to focus on that for the time being he made his way outside, glancing around, wild eyed for Nova.

The petite woman was standing a short distance from the rest of the milling crowd. Several women were crying, their breath coming in ragged gasps, a vile wailing sound emanating around them. She rolled her eyes in annoyance, why were so many women so pathetic. Seriously, it wasn't even their house. Perhaps the amount of expensive booze they had consumed had more to do with it than genuine fear or anguish. It didn't take long before Eli appeared in the main doorway, that smirk once more playing across her features. Hopefully he had gotten everything they would need to get paid. She was leant back against the car they had arrived in, thankful that at least the rain had subsided for now. She didn't fancy being caught in a downpour whilst wearing a white silk dress, that would be a recipe for disaster. As her companion drew nearer she noticed the wild eyed look. A frown touched her features, quirking an eyebrow, waiting for him to close the remaining distance between them.

Spotting Nova he beelined in her direction. He needed to get out of there, but he also needed to calm down. Spotting Nova and realizing she was safe helped. Eli unlocked the car and got in, starting the engine and then waiting for Nova to get in the car. Once she was in he took off, slow because of the crowd of people also trying to get to their own vehicles, as well as those just milling about. Pulling onto the main road he couldn't keep it in any longer. "Small fire! I said to set a small fire! That was not a small fire!" He said, heart still pounding from the adrenaline of the whole night. He glanced over at Nova, eyes still round and heart still pounding with a slight tinge of fear at what could have happened.

She slipped into the passenger seat, following his lead. Sitting silently and feeding off the adrenaline she could sense pouring from her companion. She was always surprisingly calm in these situations, after a crime she always seemed totally unphased. It was the art of a great pickpocket, and it ensured she never looked suspicious. She was a little nervous internally, that had gotten somewhat out of hand. She had been careful to ensure that the fire would be easily maintained, so something else must have happened. As though on cue he spoke up. She shrugged nonchalantly, somewhat amused by his tone of voice. Pulling out her phone her fingers deftly skittered across the screen, typing a reply. 'It was a small fire when I left it. Who knew rich people were so flammable?' She held the screen up for him to see, a coy smirk lighting up her features. She retracted the phone, typing once more. 'Did you get it?'
