Hallo forums! Moon here, and I'd like to roleplay, so... yeah.
This is a roleplay based on the game "The Long Dark", which is about an electromagnetic apocalypse where the danger is not from zombies or other enemies, but from the cold and the bitter weather. No electronics work, even battery-operated ones. Cars, cell phones, heaters, refridgerators, none of it work at all. The game, and this roleplay, takes place in an unspecified area in rural northern Canada. Let's say it's three(3) months after the disaster and near everyone is dead. Our characters will have to survive with only what they find in the few small towns and what they can harvest with their bare hands. They will have to live off the land and survive the frigid sub-zero temperatures. Another threat is that the animals have started to become more aggressive and no one knows why.
1. Follow the official rules. This should be pretty self-explanatory. Don't get my thread deleted. :'P
2. Be realistic. This is probably the most important part of the roleplay. Temperatures can go negative even in the daytime here, so make sure your characters are bundled up and avoiding hypothermia. Water and food will be a concern as will the weather, which may keep characters inside for hours or days. Characters may be of any age, but keep in mind physical strength and mental expertise. A 3-year-old character would be highly unlikely to survive in the wilderness, as would a 90-year-old.
3. Be literate. I do not impose a post-length requirement, but your posts should be descriptive. I want to know your characters feelings and thoughts, it makes for more interesting writing. Think five senses. That said, my posts tend to be on the shorter side with just a paragraph or two. My only requirement is that you give us enough to respond to.
4. LGBT+ characters are allowed; please do not pick on anyone's characters. That goes the other way too. Please forgive me or anyone else if they mess up pronouns occasionally, I personally am still learning how to do this sort of thing.
5. This is NOT a one on one roleplay. Anyone who wants to can join, and you should try to include others in the roleplaying when you can.
6. Have fun. Yes this is a rule, even if it's super cliche by now.

The snow crunched under the tall man's feet. His eyes darted from side to side, scanning for some unknown threat. Occasionally the wind would stir up a plume of soft flakes which fell back against the man. He shivered and sank lower into his coat, trying to take the edge off of the biting wind. He could tell a blizzard was coming soon. After you'd lived in the cold wilderness for so long, you could just tell by the feel of the wind that worse was coming. Unfortunately, this man hadn't found a shelter yet and he'd been walking all day. His decision to leave his last shelter was a mistake. And mistakes are death out here, He thought to himself. Grimacing with that unpleasant thought, the dark-haired man tightened his grip on his trusty machete. With his other hand he shook some icicles out of his unruly beard. I'm too old for the apocalypse, He mused, smiling to himself. Not that he had any choice in the matter. And he wasn't really that old, only 43. Maybe it was 44 now. He'd lost track of the days. Shaking himself from his thoughts, the man shifted his dark green eyes upwards and observed the trees. However cold it was for him, even in his button-up plaid shirt, sweater-vest, and ski jacket, the trees continued to grow. He could just see the tips of green pine needles poking through the layer of snow covering them. Up ahead he could just see the outline of a building against the fog. Thank goodness. He could spend the night and weather the storm there. He never stopped to consider that someone might be staying there...
3 miles away a small girl was also preparing for the approaching storm. She hefted her axe and made another swing at the block of wood. The block split with a resounding CRACK, and the blonde-haired girl wordlessly put another block onto the stump. She used to hate chopping wood, but now she knew just how essential wood was for survival. Wood made fires, fires made warmth, and warmth was life out here. She split two more logs and then relaxed, looking at the pile she had built up. Good for two days, at least. She hoped it would be enough for the coming storm. Now that she was still she noticed she was sweating, and that the sweat was freezing to her face. Pulling back the hood of her fur parka, she wiped her face and picked up a few pieces of wood to take inside the little log cabin she now called home. Opening the door, she took one step inside and was almost knocked over by her dog. She put the wood down and pat her friend's head, roughing up the fur behind his ears like he liked. "Oh Timber, what would I do without you?" She said to her dog, smiling at the way his tail wagged when she said his name. Shaking himself, the Siberian Husky went to go sit on the couch and the girl went back to her work. She walked back outside and grabbed more pieces of the firewood to take inside. That was when she heard something walking in the treeline. Dropping her wood, she grabbed the rifle leaning against the wall of her cabin. Only one bullet left... She realized as she raised the rifle in preparation for whatever, or whoever, came through the trees...
(You can start by being in the house my first character found or by coming out of the trees near my second character, or you can do something totally different and meet up with my characters some other way. No form or description of your character is necessary to join, as description can be done in roleplay.)

I only have a few rules but they are essential to the roleplay, so please read and understand them.
