I can see that nobody has posted in OTD in two hours and I know we've beaten this horse to death already, but if I see one more "I CAME AS SOON AS I HEARD" comment or similar on a youtube video I swear I'm going to break something
Hamilton fans have to be, hands-down, the most obnoxious fandom atm, and this is coming from a former fan. I was watching a video about colored pencil technique and one of the top comments was a Hamilton reference. On a completely unrelated video. This fandom is slowly taking over the internet and I'm hating it. Would it kill them to not make everything about themselves?
I'm sorry for the rant but please s t o p

Yeah I totally agree. I'm still a fan but I honestly wouldn't do that, I just appreciate the musical for what it is. I just don't see the point in going on and on about it on completely unrelated YouTube videos.
On the other hand, I really hope that people don't see all Hamilton fans as being like that, I don't want negative stereotypes against us, since we don't all do that.]

going to be completely honest here, I like Hamilton but not its fans. I don't think the fandom realizes the characters in the musical were real people and not just characters, which is where quite a few of my issues lie with them

I'm definitely a fan, but the general fandom has always annoyed me. The way they treat the founding fathers like fictional characters and coddle them endlessly, while not acknowledging their many imperfections because "THEYRE JUST SMOL CINNAMON ROLLS!1!". Not to mention, making references in every dang YouTube comment section.

I'm a pretty big fan but it's stuff like this that makes me hesitant to admit to liking Hamilton very much recently

Hamilton is okay music wise (the fact that some of the main characters irl were actual slave owners turns me off) but the fandom is atrocious
I don't want the musical fandoms to fuse and become superwholock 2.0 and I especially don't want Hamilton in that mix

I'm still a huge fan of Hamilton, but there's a reason why I'm not that involved with the fandom except for just liking posts and art on Tumblr and DA and watching videos.

I never really understood the hype around Hamilton. I was never really interested in it because most of the songs aren't my style. There's only 1 or 2 songs that sound decent to me.
But it annoys me when I see Hamilton references on totally unrelated videos. Sometimes there's someone named "Hamilton" in a video and all the hamilton fans scream in the comments like "OMG HAMILTON!!!!1!11!!1" There was this one Warrior Cats video I was watching and they were talking about a character named "Burrkit" and someone in the comments was like "Aaron Burrkit" and it got at least 50 likes
Please. Just stop. (some of the fans are actually decent though and don't throw hamilton into everything they see)

Glad to see I'm not alone. I'm sorry for lumping you all in together like that, but the reality is, I have yet to see any decent Hamilton fans. But I wasn't trying to target anyone in particular, sorry if it seemed that way
I guess I'm a hypocrite, since I went through that "hamiltrash" phase myself when I first discovered it about a year ago, before it really started picking up fans. Then I gradually lost interest. There's only a small handful of the songs I still actually like and I don't admire the original cast at all. There's just... a lot of things that rub me the wrong way about the whole production now, and it's unfortunate that the fandom is starting to ruin it for others.
Another pet peeve of mine is when I ask somebody if they like musical theater and they're all "oh yeah I love Broadway musicals!! I listen to soundtracks all the time omg theater buddies!!!" so I ask them what shows they like and the answer is always, always Hamilton. I can see how it'd be a good jumping off point for newbies, since it's not your traditional musical, and I'm glad more people are taking interest in the theater community, but I can't help but think of these people as fakers. They're just here because it's trending and once Hamilton is no longer popular they'll jump ship. There also seems to be this unholy trinity of Hamilton, Heathers and Dear Evan Hansen that's also kind of annoying.
Okay, I'm done complaining sorry again I just needed to get some more off my chest

I really hate this.. I don't care if Veronica says 'who lives, who dies' in Seventeen, you are not saying 'WHO LIVES WHO DIES WHO TELLS UR STORY!!!!!' in the comments section. I once saw a comment on a Heathers song saying 'Get your hamilton trash out of here.' Thank you, whoever commented that. Thank you. I mean, they're both musicals, but you wouldn't post something about Harry Potter on a Hunger Games video, would you? And if you would.. oh.
I went through this phrase a while ago. And I'm embarassed about it. I refused to accept Hamilton had flaws and owned slaves and screamed he was a 'PRECIOUS LINNAMON ROLL!!' And shipping. Founding. Fathers. No. I don't care if it's lams, male relationships were much closer back in those times anyway. If you're like this please save yourself. Please. Now I don't even like most of the songs and I haven't listened to the soundtrack for months.
And the 'i came as soon as i heard' on. Every. Single. Heathers. Video. Get your Hamilton trash out of here (thanks commenter) and keep it where it belongs.
Thank you.

Personally, I think it's fine if people reference other musicals, but if it's done too much, then yeah I'd get why it would be annoying. Almost every Liberty's Kids video that features a historical character who was in Hamilton gets this same treatment in the comments section. As for that other point, people denied that Hamilton had flaws? Even though the entire musical was pretty much about his flaws in a way? Okay, then. As for shipping the Founding Fathers, this one I can actually understand since actual letters between Hamilton and Laurens may be interpreted by some that they had some sort of intimate relationship with each other. This has been a theory long before the musical came out among historians. It's still kind of weird that people are legitimately shipping two guys who have been dead for centuries, though.
