Greetings to you, fellow dwellers of the Valley.Welcome to my Curse Marathon page! Here, I will be pouring out my heart musing, drawing, and just talking about » ѕнαdσω ⚔️ 's Clans of the Valley novel, Curse.
Before I jump into this thread, I want to thank Shadow from the bottom of my heart for introducing this wonderful world - to not just me, but to us, the WCF. She has really come so far, working on the novel and every last detail of it's universe for forty-eight months. Four years of ongoing development, writing, and love put into CotV. And here we are with another anniversary. Wow. So once more, I'd like to thank Shadowface, and celebrate Curse. Because it really did change my life and inspire me. And if you haven't read it yet, well, I do hope it inspires you as well! <3 |

You know a novel’s worldbuilding is matchless, magnificent, and fully-fleshed when you can create solid, valid headcanons from it. That’s where all of my thoughts, concept photos, and personal headcanons for Curse will go, including the humanized Fate of Fire series of the novel. All images will be in spoiler tags!. . .
CLANS OF THE VALLEY
The Cursed and Body Temperatures: The cursed have drastically warmer skin/fur than average cats. Even when their heat or fire powers aren't active, they have a sort of warmth on their skin, almost like fever-level warm, but not quite. You can tell if a cat is cursed from their skin temperature; it perpetually feels like it’s slightly above 98.8. They can still get cold during winter, but usually they can't feel it as strongly as a regular cat. During any cool-down period after using their agnikinetic powers, they are nearly impossible to touch for a few minutes since they're quite literally steaming hot and are still capable of burning someone. Sometimes emotion affects this; say, if a cursed was angrily trudging through snow, the snow would hiss under their paws and instantly melt/vaporize.
Cloudspot’s Fur: Cloudspots has vitiligo. Vitiligo spotting in felines produces white spotting; a beautifully striking pattern against her midnight black fur.Possible Breeds: The only common, typically-seen breeds in the CotV universe are the Siberian Cat (because I headcanon that CoTV takes place in Russia somewhere) and the Norwegian Forest Cat. The clans really only consist of those two breeds, but Turkish Angoras, Birmans, Himalayans, and Asian Semi-longhairs are found as well. Shorthaired breeds are uncommon, but still do exist.Snow’s Appearance: Snow is an Oriental Longhair with albinism. This may be an odd headcanon, because Snow’s eyes are silver. But having albinism doesn’t always mean “pinkish-white fur and red eyes”. Albinism is the loss or total absence of pigmentation in skin or fur. The lack of pigment in the irises makes them somewhat translucent. It can make a person’s or animal’s eyes appear red, light purple, or even a light, pale blue (which I think is closest to her silver gaze.).The Rogue’s Territory: This is a concept for part of the rouge’s territory, particularly the cliffy area we are introduced to in Chapter 32. The Siberian River flows through the rocks, staring at ground level and getting steeper as you climb. The rogues house themselves within the mountain you see in the background.The Cave “Throne”: Snow's throne could be compared to The Iron Throne from Game of Thrones. It was described by R. R. Martin as "towering over the room like a great beast", "asymmetric", and "when a king sits on it he's 10 feet above everybody else. He's in this raised position looking down on everyone. From on top, the king dominates the throne room." I also imagine that it's made out of a tall, gigantic rock mound, with stalagmites at the top of it in a collective ring. Snow lies in the middle of them, in a flat, smooth area that's big enough for her and then some. There's a "staircase" so that she can ascend it as well, with water from the chandelier-like stalactites dripping down to form little rivulets that trickle down the rock in miniature waterfalls.

Human!Jadestar (Jade) Faceclaim: She looks like Marita Tathariel! Her cosplays are so beautiful; she's a stunning woman. <3
Human!Eaglefrost (Ethuran) Faceclaim: He looks like Willy Cartier!
Human!Rushstorm (Rush) Faceclaim: Rush's faceclaim was harder to search for, of course. But I settled on this picture; a long-haired Vinnie Woolston.
Human!Darkmoon (Critza) Faceclaim: She looks like Nyakim Gatwech; an extraditionary Sudanese woman! <333
Human!Maskstar (Malar) Faceclaim: I imagine him looking a bit like Rollo from Vikings.Human!Snow Faceclaim: I don't imagine Human!Snow with albinism, but she does have beautiful platinum blonde hair as a translation for her fur!
Human!Lionshadow: He was described as dark-haired and very pale a while back, so I chose a picture that resembled closely to that description.

YASSSSSSS <3 Gorgeous picture finds! Amy Lee is just too perfect a match for Itzala honestly. True Fact: I have settled on Ethuran having a mixed Native American Heritage (if he lived in our world) so he is naturally tanner than his pale-skinned counterparts. As for Critza I've settled on very dark skin. I've based her appearance somewhat off of the "Queen of the Dark" model. Here is a picture of her below: |

Oh my goodness, she's so gorgeous. Wow... What a unique woman. For such dark skin, it is definitely a beautiful color against the backdrops, and I can see that fitting Critza very well!

I want it to be diverse and different. Too many fantasy books that I've read are still following our societies biases and ideas of what's "normal" ect. ect. I say, let's throw in everyone and have it be how I imagine it! Women & Men are equals (both can be warriors), there are no "racial issues" because everyone is a resident of the Valley and there is no history of anger because you have a different skin color. You get conflict enough between the Clans, the un-pledged, the cursed, and the rogues. Why add on the things that my readers deal with everyday? You want to read a book to escape, to be in another world where our societies rules/beliefs don't matter. At least, that's my philosophy/hope. x'D

Race was once in issue in the distant past (which I revisit in the 3rd book) but at present the races are so mixed you can get any color fur/eye combo from any pairing.
The problems they face are much different, from the simple ones of having one's bonding pheromones go off kilter, school or work issues, to more serious problems relating to working in the Spacefleet. All I can hope is I live long enough to finish the third book! And Shadow-if you ever publish yours, I shall indeed buy it! |

The social constructs of the FoF world are very balanced, a more favorable outlook when it comes to to gender roles and race. It balances with the conflicting families and other threats to the Valley, which doesn't create too much drama or conflict. You're doinhg a great job with it!! |

*basks in all the compliments and comments* Lol Mᴏᴏɴ - - - You have no idea how happy that makes me to have someone feel good about seeing themselves represented in my stories. That is something I hope to do as I move forward. I want people to be like, OMG! There is a Chinese woman who is both a warrior, a Cursed, and an important part of the series (Hadiya), or, for Darkmoon, an African American woman known as the battle mistress who is a lesbian! I MEAN COME ON. What other fantasy/teen fiction novels have that? All I see is Caucasian main characters with the same exact spiel about them being special for some prophecy, ect. ect. I need variety and representation, I tell you! D': But seriously, that makes me very happy. <3 Thank you! :'D Btw, I know you posted on another thread, but yes, I used your sketch as my avatar for Twitter because it is glorious. Your the only person who has drawn up the human versions so I've been using those more often for my media sites. I was even thinking about posting Jade on my website ( I will definitely put her up on WeHeartit if you don't mind along with a small blurb/article), but I've been too busy to go through that tedious process. o.e Plus I need to figure out whether or not I'm going to continue dumping $$ into my website or just let it go back to having the ads for wix & the old domain. I got to save every penny this semester. ;-; I find it so awesome that you check in on my social media websites. <333 I'm honored. |

I'm so honored, oh wow! By all means, go ahead and feel free to use any Curse related art I put up, because at the end of the day, it's technically for you! I have improved a little bit when it comes to humans, and in honor of Darkmoon's Battle School, I decided to draw Critza along the line. I'll finalize the drawing digitally today if I can. ;3

OH MY GOODNESS

WHAT
HELLO CRITZA :'D
I love her outfit!!!!! I've been having trouble thinking of something that could fit both her and the climate. At first I had the idea of stained black leather armor with decorated gauntlets or shoulder plates. Her fighting style is very acrobatic which is why I went leather instead of iron/steel armor. Lots of twists, turns, flips; fancy stuff like that. She'll even use other fighter's bodies as leverage to leap from one place to another. She can spin on her swords too. They are made really well so she can use them like spears in a sense where she can stick them in the ground, put her weight on them, and catapult herself. She's small in stature, but I did imagine her to be muscled as you've drawn her.
For flair I had a piece of red cloth that she ties to her waist. It belonged to Moonpaw (whose human name I'm working on).
But the red cape fits much better with the weather; warmer, more useful, and it can still be Moonpaw's. And the silver decorated armor on one shoulder looks fantastic. That will be on her dominate arm that she uses the most, though she has been known to duel wield if she looses her shield. In battles enemies will always go for your "sword" arm, or your dominant arm, since most fighters are trained with just that side to use a weapon.

And a cape can be secured to your body with leather straps, so she can still do her acrobatic fighting with it, or she can simply cast it off and wrap it around her waist or the hilt of her sword. I think it's Japanese culture that has their swords adorned with cloth on the end so that they can wrap it around their wrists.
