Tawnythroat - Camp "That may have been the case, but I recall a prickly mentor who would raise the sun's fury if someone woke her from an afternoon nap" Though her words were clipped, there was a hint of what might be considered a purr. Her mentor, no matter how many times she still treated Tawnythroat like a kitten, was family. Tawnythroat would step through a firestorm for Nighthiss, and for any of Nighthiss' kin. They were hers to protect. Her honor demanded it, Nighthiss held her loyalty a hundred times over and the elder likely knew it. A memory flickered in Tawnythroat's mind's eye. Of a near silent den smelling of herbs, of soft sobs coming from a usually stoic tortoiseshell, and gentle soothing words being whispered from the only real mother figure Tawnythroat had. "Tell me, how are your old bones? Still giving you trouble?" There was that concern, the flicker of fear through gold eyes.

Moosepaw - Outside of Camp Moosepaw's eyes rounded comically as Finchpaw pranced back towards him. "That was so cool!" He crowed, short tail thumping. When his friend lashed out to grab the moth– his heart leapt for surely the little bug was too fast but he scolded himself for thinking his friend would be outsmarted by an insect. "You'll have to teach me to do that. I'm rubbish at catching bugs" Moosepaw frowned, peering at the wide eyed she-cat. "Do they taste okay?" His voice lowered, partially with curiosity and partially with disgust.

n i g h t h i s s -- camp Her eyes glinted with what might have been a laugh, had they been in private. "And I seem to remember a little kitten who would complain about everything- Nighthiss, it's damp, Nighthiss, you're so mean," she rumbled, mouth quirking ever so slightly upwards. Tawnythroat would forever be kin to her and her grandkits. None understood how close they were, but that was fine by Nighthiss- but if someone were to attack the senior warrior when her back was turned...
They would be getting ripped in half by Nighthiss, no doubt about it.
"I'm...doing okay," she allowed, looking at her body before sighing. Once, she had been a whirlwind, the most feared warrior in the territories. Now, she was just a has-been, a feared soul in aching joints and failing functions. There was no doubt in her that she would never run again, even if there was a fox on her tail. She could fight no more, and moving back and forth across the camp like she did not even ten moons ago multiple times was a struggle.
Nighthiss would not directly tell Tawnythroat that, though, even if her response- not something snarky or snappish- said it all.
She didn't think she would last another twelve moons. Nighthiss would be extremely lucky if she did.
The jet black molly didn't want to leave her grandkits without relatives. She didn't want to leave Tawnythroat.

Tawnythroat - Camp "Well you were mean." Sniffing hauntingly, Tawnytail discreetly winked at Nighthiss though the elder's next words sent a shiver of dread down her spine. The pause of Nighthiss' words hinted at the real meaning behind that unconvincing 'okay.' "That bad huh" There was no tremble in her voice, seasons of practice of holding things in made sure of that. Don't cry out, Tawnythroat. Your fears will only worsen the situation, nothing you can say can help. Reminding herself of that was a self soothing technique she'd picked up long ago. When her agemates were having litters of their own and Tawnythroat's aching heart was left wanting with no reprieve. That ache dulled over time to a simple fact. A fact that cut as well as a young apprentice's claws but a fact none the less. "Well, you won't be raiding any ThunderClan patrols anytime soon with that attitude." The lie she told herself and her former mentor. Tawnythroat did not want to think of a world where Nighthiss was not looming like a tree over her, sheltering her even in their old age. It was not a thought Tawnythroat could survive. I must go first.

n i g h t h i s s -- camp "I'll be fine," she said gruffly, comforting words hidden behind clipped notes. She was just as scared as Tawnythroat was at the thought of dying. They were both old, even though she was many moons older than the warrior, both old and scarred and still dreaming of battle, not peace. She had made peace with the thought of dying, even as she detested it. StarClan wasn't a place for fighting. It was a place for eternal boredom, with the only enjoyment being talking, she thought. At least she would be restored to a body that didn't ache- at least, that's what it seemed like would happen. Even if it was nice, Nighthiss didn't want to leave this world. Tawnythroat and her grandkits needed her.
"Want to go and wipe out ThunderClan right now?" She scoffed, rolling her eyes at her former apprentice. "What a joke. I could kill them all with a breath. I might be old, but I'm still stronger than you ever were in your prime."

{ f a w n s t a r } m i d - m o r n i n g c a m p it was a dry season, fawnstar knew this. the streams in their territory had been drying up so quickly she hadn't even been able to stop it. with the little amount of rain that had cascaded their territory, the young molly certainly was getting worried about her clans safety. their pine trees were extremely flammable, especially now. if it all went up in flames her clan had a chance of dying. or at least a few cats. she worried for the elder, nighthiss. she worried for the senior warriors who found it harder and harder to walk with their joints acting up. she worried for the apprentices who usually weren't as fast as the warriors. if her clan went up in smokes, everything would end. where would they be left? all of this ran through her mind even as she still talked with her adoptive children, sunstep and kestrelstrike. she loved the both of them with all of her heart and no matter what the clan said about them, she trusted them. as the clan leader, as a mother, as a friend. but as the leader, she could not force any cat to an opinion, even cranky old nighthiss. listening to her children rattle off questions, she let out a purr when kestrelstrike put an end to sunsteps speaking. she cleared her voice and sat down, wrapping her fluffy plume around her delicate paws. "i slept well, thank you for asking, my sweet. as for patrol, no. i decided to go out on my own and hunt this morning. there is some extra kill on the pile if either of you would like some," she purred gently and motioned to the fresh-kill pile.

{ t i d e s l i p } s u n h i g h c a m p rowanpaw was his light and joy and tideslip was certainly a proud father. besides that, the senior warrior was often looked up to in the clan. his last apprentice, then crowpaw, had grown into a fine warrior. crowflight seemed to not have much maturity, but as she grew older he knew she would turn into a good cat. she'd always have that playful side to her. at least tideslip could accept that. some other cats in the clan, not so much. her younger brother, bubblepaw, was certainly a handful as well. cedartwist had his hands full. he had eaten breakfast with his daughter and then went out training with ryepaw. it had been a good day so far, he was excited to see what the rest of the day would bring. the tom padded into camp with a small smile on his face, which was odd for the tom. he was usually pretty stoic and had an upset look on his face. but today had been going pretty well. seeing crowflight in the camp, he couldn't help but purr. his former apprentice would always hold a place in his heart. he carefully padded over and nudged her shoulder, his ice colored eyes shining. "afternoon, crowflight," he said gently, his tail swaying carefully. "how's my former apprentice getting on with being a warrior?" even though it had been moons back, he still thought of her as that mischievous apprentice who always kept him on his toes. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf

s u n h i g h c r o w f l i g h t c a m p The she-cat looked up from her lunch, a large mouth full of lizard in her jaws. She swiftly chewed, then purred a response, "It's going well." She moved over for the tom to sit beside her as she ate her meal, enjoying each bite of it. "How's fatherhood going for ya?" she asked, taking another bite of the lizard. She chewed with joy, finally filling her grumbling belly. Crowflight would normally snatch two from the pile, but the senior warriors were watching and she could easily receive a tongue lashing for her act of selfishness. "I hear her training is going well." she mumbled through a full mouth. Her manners regarding prey weren't the best, but then again, her manners in general were somewhat.. nonexistent. Now if she was around a warrior that would scold her for her actions, she'd eat properly and reply after swallowing the juicy meat. "Want a bite?" she offered the tom. Her amber eyes were bright, as she deeply respected her former mentor. He was patient with her and she saw him as a father figure. Her parents were gone, after all. If anything were to happen to him, she'd be greatly upset. It's why she uncharacteristically volunteered for dangerous missions before he could. After all, she knew he'd care for Bubblepaw if something happened to her, but he couldn't leave his precious daughter alone.

{ t i d e s l i p } s u n h i g h c a m p seeing crowflight, his eyes just lit up. he thought of her as one of his daughters, just as he cared for bubblepaw as well. the usually grumpy senior warrior always had a soft spot for young cats. that's what attracted his mate to him in the first place. after dying, tideslip had to step in as a full time parent. he was there every step of the way for his daughter and when she became an apprentice, he was the one who cheered the loudest. having trained crowflight made him eligible for deputy-ship. but he had never wanted anything more than being a warrior. being in charge was hard. it was difficult to take care of a clan and to keep up with everything. he was content with being a senior warrior. even just so. "fatherhood is good. rowanpaw is just as much as a handful as you were," he purred and sat down beside the black molly. his lapis colored eyes were shining. "her training is going amazingly. i'm very proud of her. i can't wait until she becomes a warrior." his purr was raspy. when he was offered a bite of the lizard, he shook his head gently. tideslip had never been a huge fan of the slimy creatures that the clan managed to drag in. vole was more in nature. he enjoyed the feeling of the fur, not the slimy bellies of frogs and lizards. "i'll ask applebelly if we can get a patrol out to the skyclan border. i don't think it's been marked today." he noted thoughtfully and stared at the ground, becoming lost in thought. coding & icon image by officialrainleafwcf

s u n h i g h c r o w f l i g h t c a m p She narrowed her eyes at her half-eaten lizard when her former mentor mentioned a patrol. "Haven't the patrols already been set up?" she asked, trying to weasel her way out of more duties. After today, she was done with duties. Moosepaw had made her sure of that. She had a weird grimace on her face as she remembered earlier.
