(No problem, I completely understand!!)
Hawke continued his movement throughout the trees, keeping his eye out for any sign of any more cats approaching. More specifically, he was looking for any particular leads on where the clan camp could possibly be. He knew the risks of going there to do his leeching habits like he has been doing for all of his life, but these cats seemed... different. The three he ran into all seemed particularly aggressive, unlike anyone else he had ever met. If he was being honest with himself, he did quite enjoy the challenge and danger of this task... He was checking high in the trees and down low on the ground for anything out of place.

((thank u so much!)) Fernbrook didn't care much for the boggy terrain surrounding his Clan, he much preferred to be up in the treetops. Not much could threaten him up there. He nimbly climbed from branch to branch; his nose had picked up the scent of a bird. Hopefully, this meant a nest was nearby. As he was about to climb another limb, his ears perked up, detecting a light rustling down below. It was unlike the wind; the sharp crunching noises could only lead to footfalls on the earth. He took another sniff. Besides the scent of an avian creature, something else had entered his nostrils. He stayed still on the bough he was perched on, turning his head towards the sound. Steadily approaching was another cat, looking as alert as he was. Fernbrook mentally cursed himself for not taking along another one of his Clanmates with him, in case the situation were to take a dive. The nest will have to wait. As the cat drew closer, he hesitantly called out. "You there! What's your business?"((also, quick question, is his name a reference to Dragon Age by any chance? :^D))

Hawke recoiled slightly at the sound of another cat shouting at him and tensed up slightly. It wasn't as much of an intimidating voice that got him, for it sounded rather close to his age, but it was the contrast to the otherwise quiet forest that struck him. The tom sighed softly and cursed at himself for not recognizing the scent to be similar to the other clan cats. If he followed his nose, he could be free of the mess that was to follow. Turning direction to walk away from the new cat as a sign of slight disrespect, his reply was flat and tired. "Same as you, little one. I'm living life." The response was plain, sure, but it would help to get a good read on what he was dealing with here.

((Haha that's awesome! I love Bioware and their games a lot heheh)) Fernbrook chuckled lightly at his response, but kept his guard. He began to descend from the tree as he noticed Hawke turn his back. He may not pose a threat now, but he couldn't walk away so easily. "That seems a little broad," he replied as his paws met the ground. He took slow steps in Hawke's direction, making sure to keep a slight distance just in case. "But that can't be the only reason you're prowling around here, huh?" His nonchalant and tired attitude made Fernbrook all the more suspicious.

"Hello Mothtooth," Lemonleaf said kindly, "how are you?" "I'm doing well. Just feeling a little bored. My sis is currently flirting with Eaglefeather." He mewed flicking his tail towards the two cats.

(Oh yea same. BioWare is definitely up there with my favorite game producers. The Dragon Age games are easily my favorite though.)
Ah. Hawke could see that this was going to be a repeat of his interaction with the leader and her brothers. Nothing but questions... He couldn't help but let out a short laugh at how similar all these clan cats were! You would expect them to have some sort of personality. These thoughts simply made the tom walk with a bit more strut in his step, not taking the inquisitor very seriously at all. "Well let's see. YOU tell ME what you think I am doing here. I will help you from there. Deal?" He spoke looking down the cat following him, keeping up the pace he was at. He was more mobile than the loner at the least...

((Aesthetic wise, I'm really a sucker for Mass Effect aaa.. but by far I've spent a lot more time playing Dragon Age, especially Inquisition,,)) Fernbrook hadn't run into many rogues in his time in BriarClan, but he would pass a couple by when he had been traveling with his sister. He could practically feel the cynicism and condescension wafting off of Hawke's pelt. Granted, that was what spending so much time in the unrelenting wild would do to someone. He and his sister knew the feeling, but with their companionship they managed to make it out all right. He didn't know what this particular cat had been through, but Fernbrook knew he was trying to prod his temper a little. Nevertheless, he couldn't help but feel a somewhat provoked. Can't let that get the best of me, he thought. "Sounds reasonable." Fernbook agreed. "Well, I don't know if you're like them, but many rogues like yourself can't find it in themselves to respect territory. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be searching for something."

(They are really tied aesthetic wise for me tbh. I haven't played an awful lot of Mass Effect so that may have an influence on it but? They really both are awesome hehe. Oooo I just finished up an Inquisition playthrough the other day actually. What class do you like the most?)
These clan cats really were all the same! They all seemed to have this odd obsession with 'respecting territory' and looking down on those trying to live away from a group. Sure, Hawke did have a tendency to rely on groups in an odd sense of the concept, but the point still stood. He had spent enough time alone in the woods after being abandoned to know how to live, and certainly did not have any reason to trust any 'clan cat' now. Though this cat could be a new target for potential prodding for information... "Phah, respecting territory..." Hawke said quietly to himself with a shake of his head, practically spitting the words. That was going to irk him for some time. "Well..." The rogue began more loudly this time, needing to scramble up a tree to cross a gap and disturbing a nest in the process. "In a sense I am searching for a few things. A new nest location, a bit of food, medicinal supplies, a reason to continue with you..." He finished his thought, dropping his voice for the last of the list to say only to himself.

((I looove playing as mages. c: Ever since DA2, really. No thanks to the Arishok >_> )) Noting the terrain in front of them, he began scaling the tree after him. Fernbrook listened intently to his answer. And of course, it wasn't drastically different from what he experienced himself or other rogues' ideals. It was rational, simple. He couldn't really argue with it besides the fact that he was 'trespassing' in a sense. The BriarClan borders were close enough to this location that Hawke could cross them without knowing. But at the same time, he did seem clever. Maybe he already knew? The back and forth thinking continued to prevail in Fernbrook's mind. "Well, I can't say I blame you for coming here to find such things," He began, "I'd say our needs are pretty similar. We're not very different - I just have a more permanent place to stay. Wasn't always like that, though..." He trailed off, not-so-subtly trying to pry a little more out of Hawke.

(Oooo good choice. In my opinion, mages are juuuust barely beaten by dual dagger rogues. THAT is my kind of playstyle haha. The only thing I can't get into is warriors UNLESS we are talking about Inquisition Reaver warriors. but ew. the arishok)
Acutely aware that Fernbrook had scaled the tree behind him and was now on the same level as him, Hawke now felt like his height advantage before had now disappeared. Though, being on these branches did play into his style of dirty fighting if it came to that... Hawke quickly noted the trees in his path, deciding if he should stop soon. They WERE moving steadily away from the apparent direction of his goal... He found it funny, really. This clan cat, with their seemingly inflated vision of their self and their group, was trying oh so hard to relate to him! He did have a better approach in learning about him than the older tom before though... He would play out the situation for a little longer before going in to try and extract some information. "Ah well, you see, I never really had much of a 'permanent home' exactly. I have been more of a, what was I called before... a rogue. I have lived more of one of their lifestyles." Perhaps falling for the bait that the clan tom was laying to have him open up could give him some leverage in this situation. Unsubtlety seemed to be the blood of this clan.

((yesss, i love mages and dual-blade rogues, they're super fast paced and reeeally satisfying to use. but hawk. the mages. do it.)) This rogue was certainly good at displaying his apathy, if anything. "That sounds about right. You don't feel a devotion towards any clan, but don't live the pampered life of a kittypet. Rogue would be the word." Fernbook reviewed. Though all he really wanted to do was tell Hawke to bugger off, he decided to continue with the roundabout conversation. The more he knew the better, he supposed. "Not that you would care much to hear about my past experiences, but I can say I've lived a life like yours before." He briefly thought back to the specific time. How long ago was it now? "A couple moons ago, probably. I understand the struggle to survive alone."

(Hey Hawk and Kat! And sorry about the long delay Pike. I got wrapped up in Supreme Commander. ^^' But heck yea, dual daggers are so satisfying! Being invisible and then just. Leaping from the shadows to totally eviscerate an enemy is one of the most fun things I have ever done in all of Dragon Age haha.)
Hawke couldn't help but roll his eyes at the first comment from Fernbrook. So the clan did have a name for someone like him, and not a pleasant one at that. That would have stung if he cared much about the clan, but from who he has met so far... there didn't seem to be any reason to. "Listen. If you are going to follow me around like this, give me some entertainment. Tell me about your 'rough past'." Hawke grumbled, preparing himself to put up with this. He could not care less about the past life of this buggering cat but mayhaps this could help him in the long run. Or help him find a place to escape and bolt back.

((yeah it's super fun! i gotta pick up inquisition again tho. i got a hunky qunari mage to go back to lol)) Fernbrook managed to hold in a chuckle. Quite obviously he didn't care much for what he was going to ramble on about, but as long as it kept things from getting out of hand. It helped that slowly but surely they were making their way further from the BriarClan encampment. It wasn't much of a worry for him, though, he knew his way around the surrounding area. "Long story short, my younger sister and I were left to fend for ourselves for a time." His story was interrupted now and then for the occasional leap from one branch to another. "Our mother passed on, our father nowhere to be found... I'll spare the tragic details, but back then, we were 'rogues' too."

(Awww man dude, that sucks. I'm sorry about you not being able to start it! Do you have no time to play it or is it something else? A Qunari mage, huh? How was that working out, the Arishok?)
Hawke stopped moving in the direction that he originally chose to move. This obviously wasn't the way towards the camp, and judging by this clan tom's demeanor, he was coming nowhere close to it. Perhaps he could use him in that way to find the camp. Hawke spun around 180 degrees and began to go back the way they had come from, this time rather hastily. The closer he could get to the possible location of the camp, the better. All he needed was a peek to mark it on his mental map... "Ah yea? I suppose we are somewhat alike in a way, except I have been alone for most of my life." Was he really about to somewhat open up to this clan cat? No. Like he always said, the best lies are rooted in truth. "I never knew my true mother or father. I don't know what happened in the time away, being a wee kit and all. All I know is that when my... 'adopted father' passed on from wounds he got protecting me, he confessed that I was passed on to him. That's all I know." The story Hawke spun found truth in only one part: never knowing his mother. The rest came right from his brain to his mouth. And pulling the story off, the rogue thought he did pretty well! He threw in a little choking up and voice cracks to make it seem more truthful than it actually was! There was no way he would open up to someone who could very well be sent after him oh so suddenly.

((oh it's working out.. interestingly haha. there's a lot of "colorful" opinions about my boy 😝)) The sudden turn backwards startled Fernbrook a little. He became not as focused on the "heartfelt" story Hawke was telling him, but just where exactly the rogue thought he was going. It was quite the abrupt turn for someone that didn't have a set destination... For the sake of being inconspicuous, he wouldn't address it for now. But if he were to try anything... "Well, it seems you've had quite the tough life yourself," Fernbook remarked, "I'm sorry to hear about that. You seem to be doing well for yourself regardless."

(Aaaaah I understand haha. I used to be in the same boat, the one TV and Xbox thing, but then I got a decent laptop so. All my gaming is on here for now. I would imagine there would be colorful opinions! You are a Qunari and a mage after all lol.)
Hawke continued to walk at his brisk pace in the direction the two cats had come from. If he wasn't going to shake the cat off his tail just yet, he may as use him to help find the camp. Hawke kept quickly glancing back to get a read on Fernbrook's facial expression and body language. They would be the key to finding his new score. He wasn't exactly being subtle, but his patience was running thin from being badgered by so many cats in such quick succession. "Well yea, I'm living well. I know what I am doing out here." The rogue remarked rather sharply, the lack of patience in his head starting to emerge into his voice.
