Ash could hear the voice carry all the way to them and a snarl crept on his face. Why did this have to happen on the day he was supposed to take the first step back onto being part of human society? He looked over at Farlow "Should we wait here for your friend or should I go in and start fighting?" He asked
"I would hope they didn't receive any military training. If they had, I would have put their asses back through boot camp. I guess the fact that I had the rank of Sergeant Major helped with the respect part also. They offered the position of Colonel before I left but I'm not exactly the type of person fit to lead people and this team helps prove that point" she said as gave a small wave of her hand to Ollie just to acknowledge him. To be honest, she didn't even hear what he had said, she could honestly care less at this point.

(I’m going to end up answering pretty late.)
(Broken: If it helps any, there is an undead attack triggered by Night. Zed sent a message to screens around the city.)
(Edit: It’s late and I have to get up early tomorrow morning. Sorry guys. I’m going to have to reply some time tomorrow.)

(Sorry for the wait.)
Rosie remained still, pondering Styx's words. - Anne followed her out of the room and smirked at Styx. "You don't care, hm?" --- "We were going to meet further in the city, but if I know him, he's going to get himself in trouble," Farlow mumbled, his gaze narrowed. "Watch the kids. I'm going to go look for him." --- Olga chuckled and sipped at some tea she had made. "It usually takes a while to gain the trust and respect of strangers. I'd say you've been doing well so far. That boy who just left. He seems to trust you."
(Sorry for the short replies. I might need to take a week break one of these days. If it affects you, let me know what times work best for you guys. :3)

Ash looked slightly disappointed when Farlow told him to watch the kids but he nodded. "You better come back safely or I'll kill you myself" he said as he looked down at the two kids. "You two stay by that tree and do not move. If you see anything, make sure you tell me about it" he said as he pointed to a large tree next to the group
Lydia shook her head "Ollie can be too trusting though. It seems like he trusts Styx even though she's a loose cannon. I'm afraid he's going to end up trusting the wrong person one of these days and end up getting himself hurt" she said

(I might do it starting tomorrow, unless someone has a better week in mind.)
Farlow didn't give a direct reply. He simply flashed them a smile and took off in ferret form.
Finla and Lowen watched him go. When Lowen and Finla moved off to the tree Ash had told them to go to, Finla shivered. "Lowen, I'm scared," she whispered.
"Father knows what he's doing and we have Ash with us. Everything will be fine," Lowen assured, glaring out at the city beyond. At least he hoped everything would be fine. --- "True. That's why he needs good friends to keep an eye on him," Olga mused, setting down her cup. "See, you're already learning of each other's strengths and weaknesses."

if you need to take a break for a week go ahead)
Ash walked closer to the two kids as he knelt down, his eyes never leaving the city in front of them. "There's no reason to be afraid. I'll protect the both of you even if it costs me my life. Just listen to what I say from now on and don't question it" he said. Honestly, at this point he wanted to jump down there and fight whatever enemy the man on the screen was talking about but he needed to put the two children first. He had made the promise to protect them after all
Lydia let out a chuckle "That's only because it's so easy to read them plus I've spent enough time with them to realize that. The others I barely know and still can't get a read on them, especially Blue" she said

Lennox was reminded of how much of a fighter she wasn’t. Sure, her powers could be extremely helpful at times, but also dangerous, and scary. Her aura didn’t hold any kindness deep within, which meant releasing it... she was reminded of the arena, after they escaped. Those poor souls were lucky to escape with their lives, she was sure.
She simply let her friend take care of these creatures, more fearful of them and what she could do if she let go than what they were than anything else. Her gaze watched Max, flickering between him and the areas around them. — Robin watched him, opening her mouth for a moment, unsure how exactly one should reply to his words, and overall astounded at the turn of events. But she immediately knew what he meant, blinking beneath her mask, a soft noise of surprise escaping her.
Then the music, she jumped again, Bright, unusually bright blue eyes narrowed at the girl. “If you can bring people back...what about Holly? And...and the others? So many have died, they can help, I’m sure.” She commented, wanting to dull her own guilt, and wanting someone more useful to help. Though she quickly silenced herself, glancing at 13-no...Adam? She glanced at him, regardless, “Looks like you’re needed,” she commented, probably not responding as she usually would. Who could blame the girl though? She was absolutely shocked. Maxwell tossed aside another, away off the highway. It was an unending swarm, and the weaker ones seemed to be backing off now. The ones surrounding the leader, the more dangerous looking ones, were filing in, and one had the mind to lift and toss aside the car on his right side. His funnel was gone, and he could tell he was in for the fight of his life. One leaped forward all at once, and Maxwell lifted his arm to feel it rake claws across his scales. He could feel a sensation come over him all at once, but it was gone as quickly as it came. The monsters seemed surprised- why had the paralyzing attack not affected him? The secret lay inside him- a gift, from his human parent. Perhaps he would learn of it someday. But in this moment, he was furious at the pain shooting up his limb. His mouth opened, his eyes narrowed, and with a flair of his nostrils fire exploded from his mouth. The huge plume of flame engulfed all the monsters before him with shrieking cries from each and every one. Ghouls do not enjoy fire, and a dragonkin boy immune to their magics was their destruction it seemed. Maxwell poured on the flame, sending streaking arcs across the whole of the highway. The dragon was here. ~ "Robin, you should come too." She gave a friendly smile, and turned to 13 again. "The world may be at stake here. Night is raising an army of undead, and I think trying to raise something even stronger. Zed needs you, 13, because of your knowledge on magic. Simple, okay? He's a genius with science, and you have much experience with magic, that, which his resources, can be expanded." 13 must've given a quizzical look, because the girl's smile twitched. "You don't know Zed? I figured this world was a bit more interconnected. Figures. Okay, we should head to the scene. Would you come with me please?" With another few notes from her lovely violin, a door appeared behind her, and swung open to reveal a rooftop. Standing atop that rooftop was a young genius, approaching the edge, about to take off. Perhaps the sound of the door appearing with a loud 'woosh' would catch his attention. ( Light) ~ The bike wasn't fast enough for Hornet's taste, and she had elected to instead dash at her inhuman speed along the streets towards the fight once more. She turned and quickly hid around a corner as she saw another vigilante spraying a volley of flame across a large cone. As she peeked around, the feeling that this was being handled was somewhat overwhelming. Perhaps there was nothing to worry about?

"Only time will tell, I suppose," Olga mused, taking another sip. Her expression turned more serious. "About my son..." --- Lowen and Finla looked at Ash with wide eyes. They nodded and exchanged a look. Then they looked out at the crowded highway.
(If you do want to fight some, it would be likely that some ghouls might have made it this far. :3) --- Zed dropped over the edge of the roof, vanishing from view. Then he rose back into view, this time facing the roof. His hand was against the side of his metal mask, as he watched a burst of flame on one of the cameras he was connected to. "I knew it!" he exclaimed, grinning behind the mask. He hovered next to the roof and looked past the scenes within his mask at the direction of the whoosh he had heard. It seemed someone had come for a little visit.

(This is a rough sketch of Zed's suit and Su's sword. Both are a work in progress, so bear with me. Changes might be made, and colours are not fully decided. XD Ignore the strange other sketches that have snuck onto the page under Zed's feet. The symbols beside Zed are examples of what his digital/pixel-like eyes might look like depending on what he is trying to portray emotionally.)

Lydia looked at Olga "We are gonna do everything we can for him. I'm probably the best one to go after him anyways so you can be sure that he'll be taken alive" she said "Besides, I doubt this team would actually want to kill another human. They're all kind of soft, except for Styx. She's the wildcard as always"
(wouldn't mind having him fight a few ghouls but if you would rather have Ollie and Farlow hurry back to them instead thats fine)
Ash turned around and knelt in front of the kids as he placed a hand on each of their heads "I can already tell that the two of you are scared out of your minds. Is there anything I can do to help you guys out?" He asked

Post by Light on May 31, 2020 10:34:44 GMT -5
"Thank you. I suppose that means you didn't come across him last night," Olga sighed, looking down at her cup as she lowered it. --- (Ollie will probably be busy trying to protect a group of innocents. Farlow will likely slip/fight his way towards him and help him finish what he started. Farlow knows Ollie wouldn't dare abandon lives that could be saved, so he won't even try to bring him out of the fight unless things get real bad. Ollie doesn't know how to use the watch very well yet, and his phone is still charging, so he has no way to contact the base. It's unlikely he'll find the time to try. He's not the kind to wait around while people die.)
Finla and Lowen looked back up at Ash. They didn't want to utter their greatest fear, lest it come true. To them, their father was an undefeatable warrior, but.... they were both still afraid. Those monsters that had been on the strange screen were frightening freaks of nature. "Why can't we go with him?" Finla whispered, though both ferretlings knew the answer.

Post by Lioncl on May 31, 2020 20:35:28 GMT -5
Lydia shook her head "I didn't at least. Me and Ollie didn't even get a chance to infiltrate their base since Styx went in by herself. You'd have to ask her if she saw him but I'm fairly certain she didn't seeing as she knew that our objective was to capture him if we ever came across him. I don't think she's heartless or cold enough to kill him" she said as she went to eat a slice of bacon "But we will keep looking for him. I promise" she added before eating the bacon
(alright then maybe Ash could fight a few off now should we have him enter the city limits or have them see him in the woods?)
Ash let out a sigh. The best way to do this would be to be blunt with these two. Right now wasn't the time to sugarcoat things either "Well because he's your father and he doesn't want to put you into harm's way. You're too weak to do anything yourselves and you're still children. But one day, I'm sure you'll be able to fight alongside your father if you really want. Today just isn't that day" he said as he ruffled the two's heads

"Thank you," she said as she reached for the teapot. "Hm..." Olga hummed as she poured herself more tea. "I just might do that. By the way you're talking about her, I'm assuming this Styx is the one you used to call Cheshire. I just hope not too much has changed on my house by the time I get back. Tea?" She lifted the teapot, looking at Lydia with raised eyebrows. --- (Anything works. The ghouls are attacking the people in the held up traffic, so there will likely be a commotion and many people running to get away. It is possible they might chase some people into the outskirts of the forest. Whatever you feel like and whatever Ash is more likely to do is fine. ^^)
Finla and Lowen looked down at the ground at his words, knowing that he was right. "I'll train hard!" Lowen announced abruptly, looking up and staring straight at Ash with a determined gaze.
"Me too!" Finla seconded, her jaw set despite a slight quiver.
"That way, Father won't have to leave us any longer. Together, we'll be unstoppable!"

Lydia nodded "Yeah supposedly her real name is Styx. She said she got that memory back or something when she was dying last night. But there's no need to worry about your house. Nothing has been picked up there yet" Lydia said "So what did Ollie say he was doing again? I didn't even pay attention to what he had said"
Ash gave a small smile "I would sure hope so. Me and your father are gonna train you until it feels like your limbs will fall off" he said before turning back to face the street. At that moment he saw a young woman holding a baby running for her life from a ghoul. The woman tripped but reflexively turned towards her back as she fell to the ground. Ash turned his head towards the kids "Climb up this tree and do not move until I get back" he said and without waiting for them to comply, took off at full speed towards the ghoul. He managed to close the distance in a few seconds thanks to his werewolf form as he went to tackle the ghoul

"Hm... Just know that I'm going back in three days," Olga huffed as she poured Lydia some tea. She set down the tea pot and let out a soft sigh. "He said something about going out to talk to a friend. Something about a possible new recruit." --- Despite the harsh construct of Ash's words, Lowen looked on with a silent determination. Finla however, was looking beyond them and towards the road. She squeaked when she saw the monster chasing the woman. When Ash told him his orders, they shifted into their ferret forms and scampered up the tree. They peered down through the branches at the scene below. Lowen's gaze narrowed as he watched. These strange beings must be higher on the food chain than humans.
"Ash..." Finla murmured, quivering next to Lowen. Her body was tense, as if she was ready to leap out at any given moment. Lowen pressed his flank against hers, hoping to calm her somewhat and warn her against doing anything rash.

Lydia sighed "If that's really what you want, then I suppose I can't stop you. It's not like we are keeping you here against your will anyways" she said. She cocked her head slightly at the mention of a new teammate "Wonder what they will be like or how he got the info on them. Though I can't help but notice that he's got all women surrounding him right now. Makes me wonder if he's trying to get a superhuman harem" she said with a small snort
(oh no I just hope that Finla doesn't try jumping in now. Ash would put himself in front of a train if it meant protecting her and before I type up some more Ash stuff what are the ghouls like?)

(Here's to hope. :3 At least she has Lowen to keep her in check. The ghouls are attacking anyone in sight with full intent to kill. From what I hear, they aren't the sharpest tool in the shed. For appearances, I looked it up. Most explanations seem relatively similar. They are undead freaks of nature. Fighting skill would probably vary, though the ones closest to Night are more powerful.) - Olga cackled at the comment and slapped the table. "It sure seems like it, doesn't it? Does that make you one of them?" She teased with a raise of one brow. Her laughter faded a little into a simple smile. "I suppose after being alone for so long he enjoys the company." --- (Sour: Hey, no worries. I hope everything works out where you are. God bless.)

Lydia laughed "Well if Ollie is actually trying to I've got some bad news for him. He's not my type and I have no interest of dating someone right now" she said but her smile disappeared. She couldn't help but remember her last boyfriend now. He was the reason she made a self-rule that she would not date another teammate ever again. "I didn't even know that he had been alone at all. He's a pretty fun and cheerful guy so why would he be?"
(well alright then. I just used the fallout 4 ghouls as a base for it then but hopefully Sam can tell us what they are actually like)
Ash sent the ghoul flying away from the mother and child and stood as a barrier between the two. The ghoul slowly got back up and started to make it's way back to Ash. It tried to claw at him but Ash dodged it only to let out a kick. The kick landed square in the ghoul's chest and the force from the kick sent the ghoul a couple dozen feet in the air. The ghoul landed and tried to get back up but it was having some trouble since both legs were now almost completely useless from the fall. Ash walked over to it and watched as the ghoul tried to attack him without success. He let out a snarl as he went for the finishing blow and swiftly killed it.
The mother had quickly gotten up and started to run away as soon as she noticed that the two monsters in front of her were starting to fight. She didn't know what to be more afraid of, the giant werewolf that had saved her or the monster that had chased her. While she was somewhat grateful that the werewolf had shown up when he had, it still freaked her out to no end.

(I believe they have some resemblance to the people they once were. The people they kill also turn into ghouls. Hope that helps. ^^ I don't know much about speed or resiliance though. That should probably work.)
Finla seemed to relax when the human mother got away and Ash defeated the ghoul. Both ferretlings watched from the tree with wide eyes, Lowen's form stiff and Finla's quivering. This was the world their father wanted Finla to live in? Lowen couldn't understand this choice. It was a new world with a whole other league of predators. --- "Ah, I assume he acts that way because he knows what it's like to be alone. I suppose you could call it appreciation," Olga mused, pushing a loose grey hair back into place and lowering her hand to hold against her teacup. "I suppose sometimes it takes an experience like that to truly appreciate what you have in life. Most people these days seem to have no appreciation for what they have."
