I would like to watch the eclipse, but I don't have any of those special glasses to do so with and I have no idea where you're supposed to get them. I heard if you look at an eclipse without proper protection you'll damage your eyes and I don't want to do that.
what about you guys?

Heck yes. I'm going down to stay with family in St. Louis/S. Illinois so I'll be in the path of totality.

I would if I could, but I don't have those special glasses and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to see the eclipse here in the city anyway.

Might step outside work with my sunglasses they gave me when I had LASEK surgery; they're better than normal ones. Dunno how eclipse-safe they are, but it wouldn't be long anyway. I'm not in the path of it so it'd only be partial. A guy I worked with a few years ago just became a literal millionaire by making some solar-eclipse-safe paper glasses - we were both interns assigned to the same team. Here's his glasses, he's the guy in the blue shirt in the pic.

Yep! I'll be visiting relatives in Colorado and we're gonna drive a couple hours to Nebraska which will (hopefully) be a good place.

I'm getting the glasses, although it'll only be 70% visible in my area. I'm planning to go to the beach with some friends, so we'll have a great view, even if the sun's not completely covered.
On a side note, apparently there's an eclipse coming in 2024 that'll be 90% visible from my area. So that's cool.

It will only be a partial eclipse here, and I think they said it will be visible from 9:30am-10:30am or about then. Can't remember exactly, but all I know is I never wake up that early so I'll miss it lol.

I'm going to see whatever part of it I can, I'll be at the state fair that day so I'm sure there will be lots of others standing outside looking at it as well.
You can also get the glasses at Walmart, they are $1 and were in the back to school section.

I'm really going to try, I know I will see it probably either way because I'm in the path of the total eclipse, almost directly, so I just need to figure out what time so I can see if I can step out of work and look at it

I had a chance to look at the sky last night and saw one really nice meteor, but I think the peak is next week, which would about line up the eclipse is definitely the 21st earlier in the summer I was planning out my vacation to make sure I'd be home on the 21st (I don't know if I will be though rip)

OH MY GOD I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE METEOR SHOWER WOULD BE HAPPENING AGAIN ON AUGUST 12
IM SO STUPID I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE METEOR SHOWER WASN'T JUST A ONE OFF THING
anyway, it's cool that a meteor shower will happen on the anniversary of wcf's shutdown!
edit: IM STILL DUMB, I meant that the shower would be peaking on August 12... again. Since, ya know, last year the same thing happened.
