Stormpath wished he could say Sparrowstar's attitude shift calmed him, but while it eased a few of his fears- and while he privately thought Sparrowstar was quite adorable when he was sheepish - it certainly didn't alter the way his heart beat fast around his leader, or the way every inch of his body felt like it was on high alert. In a Clan light LightClan, there were eyes everywhere, as unforgiving as StarClan's themselves. Every second of every day, he worried about getting caught, and here, now, as daylight was beginning to press through the trees and cats were beginning to stir, those fears multiplied a thousand times over.
"Of course," he meowed anyway, bowing his head to signify respect - just a normal warrior humbled by his gracious leader's offer. "It would be my honor."
He very dutifully did not add, I thought of you the whole way there and the whole way back. You've ruined forests for me. You've ruined nighttime. I think of you when it's cool, when my heart beats fast, when I'm made of adrenaline. You are the last thing I see before I fall asleep and the first thing I think of when I open my eyes. There is nothing in my life you haven't touched.
He especially did not say, I've missed you. I miss you all the time.
His mother had always called life's trials and tribulations StarClan's tests. If that was the case, then loving Sparrowstar was the one challenge he couldn't seem to overcome - didn't want to overcome, most of the time, StarClan be damned.
"Anywhere in particular you'd like to go?" Stormpath continued, doing his best not to sound shy. It didn't quite work. He shuffled his paws, forcing himself to maintain eye contact. It was ridiculous. He was being ridiculous. They'd done much more than share a meal, for Wolfstar's sake.

"Daisystar." Foxtail spoke the world carefully, savoring the way it felt in her mouth, the exact flavor of it. It came out as a breath, amazed and almost disbelieving. All these moons later, the Goddess had come through for her.
"Of course," she continued, voice wavering, almost a bit dazed. The world felt oversaturated, bright, brilliant but not quite real yet. She wasn't used to the newness. "Of course it would be Daisystar. Fortune is certainly with our family right now, isn't it? It took so many moons, but I knew she would come through for us. All it takes is a bit of faith and a lot of hard work, love. I never strayed from StarClan's path for me, and look where they led me. Here. Now. To you."
It took her a moment to recall the rest of the story. "Squashing the bad cats, huh?" she purred. "Let's hope that's literal, won't we? I've never heard of a vision so righteous. StarClan must have big plans for you. Perhaps you'll be the one to finally drive the sin out of this Clan."
A kinder cat might recall that one of the "bad cats" was her best friend's daughter, and the other was her own son. Luckily, Foxtail'd never had it in her for softness. She made little secret of the fact that she favored harsher punishment for any and all defectors and undesirables, and the fact that Breezefeather was included in the mix - well, that was unfortunate for him, wasn't it? Perhaps he shouldn't have tripped.
"I did pray for you to save me," she finished in a low, breathless, almost reverent voice. "I prayed every day. And now you have."

Card against Humanity At the first crack of dawn, Aspenlight had already been awake for quite a while. Though he had lingered in his nest for a while, he was bustling around as soon as the first rays of sunlight could warm his pelt. After he had gotten up, he placed himself on the far side of camp to observe the waking Clan. It was a rather average morning. At first, silence had controlled camp. Then, a few of the older warriors padded out. They dragged some prey over to the elders' den and nursery. The fact that they did that made the old tom's chest rumble. A good cat following the code always warmed him up inside. Then, the apprentices and younger warriors started to come out. A small grunt of disappointment arose in his throat. Compared to the older warriors, the younger cats of the Clan were lawless rascals. Some of them, mainly younger apprentices, still slipped from his expectations from time to time. Briefly, Aspenlight counted the amount of apprentices now feasting on meals around camp. It was one less than the usual. Annoyance prickling the back of his neck, he strode over to the apprentices' den and peered in. On one nest, the sleeping body of an apprentice lie. He paced up to it and jabbed his paw into the apprentice's ribs. "Rookpaw!" Aspenlight yelled. "Ow!" The gray tabby tom jerked awake, his eyes widened and ears back. His expression only intensified when he met Aspenlight's eyes. "Rookpaw, this is at least the seventh time I've had to do this in the last half-moon!" The silver tabby spat, his bony tail curling and uncurling behind him. "StarClan requires you to wake up early for you to serve LightClan. Do you understand what will happen if you wake up just a little bit late?"Rookpaw nodded, shivering. "I'll-I'll try to wake up earlier.""You say that every time we do this," Aspenlight grunted. "But guess what? There's been no change in anything." He pushed Rookpaw up to his paws. "You better try harder, or there may not be an opportunity to wake up."(Aspenlight is not implying that he's going to kill Rookpaw.)With his shoulders hunched up and neck craned down, Rookpaw darted out of the apprentices den. Aspenlight walked out after him. He surveyed the camp again, not seeing much that was odd for a normal morning. Yet, one thing did catch his eye. His apprentice, Alderpaw, was sitting right next to his den. Padding over to the brown tabby, a few ripples of emotion came through Aspenlight. Alderpaw was a cat he trusted. Out of all the cats claiming to have prophetic dreams in all his moons of being a preacher, Alderpaw was the only one who spoke to him as being real. However, every time he looked at her, he was reminded of his own mortality. His apprentice would be his replacement for when he died, an event he wasn't looking forwards to. Sighing, he plopped himself down next to his apprentice and looked out onto camp.

Echoheart woke up alone. She was used to this, since her mate had a tendency to wake up early and her pregnancy left her more tired than usual. As she began to set up from her sleeping position, the new weight within her womb reminded her that she wasn't truly alone. She held life inside of her, a responsibility of a higher magnitude than she could wrap her head around. She took a deep breath and close your eyes.
Oh Starclan, she thought, thank you for giving me such a blessed life.
Echoheart poked her head out of the crater of the warriors den, slowly letting her eyes adjust to the morning light. She noticed Sparrowstar and Stormpath talking over a some fresh kill and smiled to herself. Sparrowstar was brusque leader, and the fact that Stormpath could carry a conversation with him proved to her that his kindness was no illusion. Her kits would have a great father.
The thought of kits sent her glance to the nursery. Some of the older cats in the clan had wondered when she would begin to move in, but Echoheart was still on the younger end of the spectrum and was not quite ready to give up her freedom. She wondered when her own mother had moved to the nursery. She had so many questions, so many secret fears quivering in the dark recesses of her heart. Echoheart knew she shouldn't worry, motherhood was the greatest gift Starclan could ever give to someone. It gave her the opportunity to pass all the love she had received from above onto the future of the clan.

nem Alderpaw was keeping her head held down, her eyes tightly closed. Her efforts to calm herself were still not succeeding. She played the scene from her dreams in her head again and again like a broken recorder, untill she finally opened her eyes. She briefly lifted her head to see all the apprentices and warriors that were now awake, eating, and talking. She almost envied them. They didn't have any worries, or any cryptic dreams plaguing their sleep.
She eventually saw what must of have been her father, talking to another warrior - Stormpath, wasn't it? - and her teeth pressed together. When she was younger, seeing her father made her feel happier. Now, it just made her bitter.
Alderpaw quickly looked back down to the ground. Don't think about him right now, Alderpaw. You both have much more pressing duties to attend to. You can't just sit here moping all day long.
She was about to finally get up when she heard her mentor, Aspenlight, walking over to her and sitting down next to her. She froze, keeping her vision lowered once again. Alderpaw didn't really trust Aspenlight. Well......she didn't trust anyone, to be honest, but Aspenlight especially. She always played the role of the cold starclan-worshipping preacher around him, almost never letting her true feelings show.
Her head finally lifted, her eyes directed towards the rest of the camp once again. She worked hard to keep her face expressionless as she watched everyone eating the cat equivalent of breakfast, including her brother. She hoped that Aspenlight wouldn't say anything to her - she certainly wouldn't speak to him unless provoked - but that was probably unlikely.

... ↪ · Galekit | Outside the Nursery requesting Foxtail, Leafkit --} It was a bore for Galekit to unfortunately be spending so much time following her sister around. Hiding at every corner unnoticed by the silence throughout the camp as she watched Leafkit pounce...on a leaf. It was important for the pale-brown and russet she-cat with various white markings to catch her sister in her act of faking, but the words she delivered once their mother returned spoke for themselves. It made Galekit's short hairs bristle at the back of her neck. Leafkit was always desperate for attention and to be the favorite out of her siblings, but what really threw her off was that Foxtail was actually falling for the hardly elaborate ruse!
"Liar!" Galekit huffed as she emerged from around one of the dens surrounding her family in the clearing. She had tried to sound strong as she shouted her objection, but her voice was ultimately just too soft—not even that squeaky. Her glowering scowl only deepened as she approached them. "Whitetalon makes visions sound more believable than you do," she claimed, though never really had the chance to hear one from his mouth before. It was just shoved down the throats of the young kits who the outcasts of the clan were and why as they were supposed to be avoided.
Not that it stopped the young kit from sneaking around whenever she had the chance to get away from her mother and her siblings, so she knew Leafkit's 'vision' couldn't be true from what she knew. "As if Swiftstrike could successfully storm down the camp with that leg of hers, Leafkit," she sneered and then looked down to point at the leaf her sister had crumpled up and torn. "This symbolism means you just destroyed your chances at being a preacher the clan would believe with that amateur vision." Galekit felt pleased at her reasoning to debunk her sister's lie and proceeded to mock the delicate way Leafkit had sat down moments prior to place herself in a light before their mother as well. The rest of her sister's explanation to try defending what she'd just claimed was so messy, too. Nothing could get past the wits of the usually quiet she-kit.

--Leafkit was silent, processing everything she had just heard. The way Foxtail spoke the God's name was the sweetest Leafkit had heard her say anything. It reminded her of when she was just starting to eat fresh-kill - the time when every bite was still new, exciting, and more delicious than anything she could imagine in the world. She could only reflect on this briefly, though, as the next time her mother spoke was a very different story. Love? Leafkit turned the word over in her mind, hating the way her mother's voice made it feel slimy. It was the first time she'd heard the word directed toward her. She'd been fine with never hearing it before; she'd been taught through stories and observations that the word was truly sacred, only meant to be uttered in the most reverent of fashions with all the power of StarClan backing it. Your eyes were supposed to shine with it, not with ambition. The world was supposed to glow, not darken as if it were ever so slightly more tainted by this its utterance. Leafkit felt the air between her and her mother thicken like mud, suddenly feeling just as dirty as if she were buried in the earth beneath her paws. She could barely process the rest of what Foxtail said. "I will drive the sin out of the Clan," the she-kit stated, her mind drifting back to the real vision she'd experienced and the way her mother had introduced her to the "love" she could expect from her and StarClan, "I'll protect StarClan's true message with everything I have." She looked away from the older she-cat's burning gaze, the feeling of her situationally dependent approval now heavy in her chest. The feelings she'd had earlier had been blissful, but Leafkit was already wishing it hadn't happened. This had opened up a whole new world of negativity she couldn't begin to imagine, and she suddenly longed for the normal cool detachment she had faced previously. Her wandering gaze landed on Echoheart, noticing how her eyes glimmered as she looked at her mate. Leafkit still felt wretched from what her mother had called her, but the sight of so much goodness pouring from the expectant she-cat's eyes softened the blow slightly. Her first introduction to the word didn't mean that her future ones would be as bad. Her thoughts were cut off abruptly as her sister stormed out, her small voice throwing accusations she hadn't yet prepared for. "L-Liar?" the she-kit squeaked, her voice going so high as to barely be audible. Her fluffy calico pelt bristled more and more as her sibling went on, indignation warring with guilt. She had had a vision, but Galekit was being more honest than Leafkit was about its contents. Desperate to prove herself but afraid of what may follow next, Leafkit snuck a glance at Foxtail, afraid of the expression she would find and the reaction - and potentially punishment - that she and her sister would face.

--Firewhisker had woken up later than most other warriors. He wasn't as religious as most and fear didn't motivate him to get up in a timely fashion. The Clan already looked down on him slightly for his sister's strong anti-StarClan rhetoric; why should Firewhisker force himself to work harder on changing the view clinging to his pelt harder than burrs? It was only when Echoheart woke that he knew he was pushing his luck with the sleeping in. Heaving himself to his paws, Firewhisker stretched leisurely and put his badding back into a neat, plump pile. He lazily groomed his fur for a few moments before deciding it was time to make an appearance. Unfortunately, the expectant she-cat hadn't yet moved enough out of the way. "You must not be used to your bigger size yet, huh?" he joked from behind her, orange eyes glimmering with amusement and slight affection. Kits were always exciting for him, and he was sorely disappointed he didn't have any yet. The affection that was clear between Echoheart and Stormpath was something that often made him feel envious, but also hopeful. One day, he was sure, that would be how he could look at another cat.

The unexpected voice jolted Echoheart out of her momentary trance. She looked down at her paws in embarrassment, but when she couldn't find any malice in the tom cat's words she looked up and grinned sheepishly.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry," she purred, taking a moment to collect herself before realizing who she was talking to. "You're right, Firewhisker."
He was correct, of course. Echoheart was a small cat, and she was not used to taking up space. Once she realized who he was, the Clan gossip about his sister entered her head. Since Echoheart didn't know his beliefs personally, she decided it would be best to act cautiously around this cat.

(Tfw you're a mobile user and your posts are basic af.)
Foxtail's newly-settled sense of peace shattered the moment Galekit opened her mouth. All at once, she felt a dark, all-encompassing anger rising deep from within her, a storm cloud threatening to engulf the sunshine of her beautiful morning and swallow it whole. How dare Galekit destroy her illusion of happiness? How dare she level such awful accusations? And Leafkit -
StarClan help her, she couldn't handle another liar in the family.
"Leafkit?" she demanded in a low, careful voice. Her control was a carefully-constructed thing - strong enough to keep her tone flat and even, but wavering just enough to remind Leafkit of the anger she was capable of. "This isn't true, is it? You surely wouldn't lie to your own mother. Not knowing what your siblings have done to me..."
As little as Foxtail's older kits had to do with her, she imagined that their siblings knew exactly how their mother felt about them. The animosity between herself and her past three litters was hardly a secret among even the least gossip-inclined warriors of LightClan.
"And you -" She whirled on Galekit, pelt bristling, amber eyes dark with a fury she no longer bothered to pretend to disguise. "What do you know of visions? You certainly haven't come to me with any yet. I'd almost think you were... jealous." She spat the last word out like poison. "You can speak of StarClan when you've encountered them yourself. I suspect you know that you never will."

Hollylight looked at Morningpaw, rolling her eyes. "Come on, dont be such a wimp. They're not that hard to get over, just visions," Hollylight waved her tail in annoyance. "You can be real weak sometimes, you know that? Toughen up for once. You'll learn soon, though I don't know about that with the way you act." She snapped. God that kid can be annoying, She thought as she padded off, tail high in the air. Of course, nobody was better than Holly, and they all were annoying little warriors and kits. Dumb clan, believing me, she smirked. I'm obviously smarter than all of these dumbos.

--Firewhisker let out a brief wordless purr at her good natured response. "There can't be much time until you move into the nursery, huh? I'm sure you and Stormpath are very excited," he meowed, his tone tinged with wistfulness. Echoheart was rather plain looking but well known for being sweet and loving, especially to her mate. "Those kits will be very lucky to have you as parents." He slid through the den's entrance and settled beside her to finish grooming places he may have missed earlier. The topic of kits was one that he could speak about for a great length of time, but his mind still wandered to the fresh-kill pile. He wondered if he should offer to share something seeing as they were both such late arrivals to the day, but hesitated when he realized her mate was already awake and having his fill. He couldn't ask in good conscience to share a meal with the pregnant she-cat while the father of her kits was so available. Perhaps he could take his apprentice out instead.

Oh, Morningpaw thought as she listened to Hollylight's criticisms, tail drooping.
She never meant to irritate her mentor, but after a moon of training, she'd quickly realized that it took a certain level of precision to navigate Hollylight's unpredictable temper - a level of precision that, try as she might, she didn't yet possess. She wondered yet again why StarClan had chosen to grant her the Divinity. If she couldn't handle one testy preacher, how could she possibly hope to act as a guiding light for her Clan?
The hardest part of being a preacher, she supposed, was the blind trust it required. Even when she couldn't understand StarClan's motives, she had to trust the path they'd laid out for her.
The sound of retreating pawsteps jerked Morningpaw out of her thoughts. She looked up in alarm to find Hollylight padding away from her, tail swishing as she went.
"Wait," Morningpaw called, bounding after her mentor. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. I'll try harder next time, I promise."
She caught up to her in a few scrambling strides and slowed down, struggling to match the older cat's pace with her perpetually petite legs. She tried nobly for a few moments of silence before blurting out, "Do you want to hear what I saw?"
Morningpaw only hoped that was the right course of action. After all, wasn't Hollylight suppose to guide her in understanding StarClan's will?

Speckleear looked around, weariness weighing down on him like a ten ton anvil on his back. He let out a small yawn, looking aroudn. He spotted one of his kits, and sighed.Might as well say hi, I guess. As he made his way over to one, he realized he didnt know the kits name. He lowered his head in shame, walking around a few fallen twigs to reach the kit."H-hey, remember me?" Speckleear sat down, scratching his ear. Starclan, why am I even here? He watched all the kits tumble around and play. Why did I agree to have all these kits? It's not even like I care about them, he sighed.

--Leafkit let out a small, desperate squeak before she was able to stop herself. The anger visible in every inch of Foxtail's tightly controlled body terrified her to the core. "I'm not a liar!" she nearly wailed, almost completely unable to keep her voice under control, but her mother had already turned away to confront her other kit. Leafkit barely heard any of the words directed toward her sister, her own emotions thundering through her. What would happen to her if the Clan decided she really were lying? Would she be exiled, like Goldenripple? Or would she be ostracized, like some of her own siblings? The future held so many unknowns now that she could hardly stay steady on her paws just thinking about them. Fury spiked through her small body directed at Galekit; "Why can't you ruin your own life?" she demanded of her sister harshly, her voice shaking. She had forgotten about Foxtail's anger directed at her as well, though even if she had remembered it, Leafkit wasn't sure she could keep quiet about this. It was already too much to face the flames shooting through the camp in her recurring vision - she couldn't bare to face the entirety of the Clan's island on her own, especially since she wasn't even old enough to be apprenticed yet.

Ugh, this pest again? she sighed. Try as hard as you want, and I won't care, Morningpaw!" she called out, smirking to herself. She sat down as the pest caught up to her.Starclan, I hate these cats. Won't they ever get when you want them to back off? No wonder they're so dumb. I wish they would all shut up for once, Hollylight often spent time hating the clan. She realized it probably wasn't the healthiest, but she didn't care. This stupid cat probably thinks I can guide her through her visions and Starclan. Starclans cursed me with this cat. Couldn't I at least get one less annoying? Hollylight glanced at Morningpaw, thinking about her question for a few moments. Mm, maybe it'll be good to hear it for once. Deep down, Hollylight was always saddened by the fact she was never a real preacher with real connections. She wished she knew what it was like. "Sure, go ahead kid."

Echoheart hesitated. The nursing den was still an idea she was against. But today's encounter had proved that her presence in the warriors had begun to be an inconvenience. Her lithe frame had previously been one of her advantages as a warrior, but every look in a puddle reminded her that her agile build was starting to fade. As her fellow warrior walked away, she once again turned her attention to her mate. Stormpath was still in a deep conversation with their leader, it seemed. She was fine with that. Stormpath was a well respected warrior, and she had no intention of interrupting what could be an important conversation. She followed after Firewhisker, giving him an honorable amount of room at the fresh-kill pile so as not to suggest to the clan, or Firewhisker himself, that she would compromise her relationship with her mate over a piece of prey.
"You're one of Silvernight's kits, right?" she asked, oblivious to the potential rudeness attached to identifying solely as an aspect of their parents. "What was that..." she hesitated, unsure of how to work her statement. Since has not had a strong maternal figure in her life, Echoheart was still desperate need of some parenting know-how. "What was she like?" she finished.

Even though she'd opened the conversation, Morningpaw still felt unsettled at the prospect of actually continuing, startled by Hollylight's sudden shift in attitude. Nevertheless, she cleared her threat, sat up straighter, and persisted, hoping she'd just happened to stumble upon the correct response.
"Well," she began, stumbling over her words a bit. "It started the way it usually starts, I guess. I was in the forest, and the sky was clear, and - StarClan was with me. I could just... tell."
To any other warrior, the idea of just knowing might not make sense, but Morningpaw was confident that her mentor would understand. She felt a flash of gratitude that she had such an experienced preacher to speak with. Even if she was temperamental, Hollylight had walked in her pawsteps before, and that experience was surely invaluable.
"But then it - changed," she continued, worry creeping into her gaze. Her voice began to go wild, strained by the lingering traces of fear. "A storm came in, and all of the stars vanished. And then Redstar - she just kept telling me that LightClan was slipping away from her, and I tried to stop it, I really did, and I asked her how, and she said -"
She swallowed, hard.
"She told me to open my eyes," she finished. "And I did. But it was just LightClan. Just you. What could that - what does it mean? Is the sin getting worse? We've been cracking down, Hollylight. I don't understand..."
Help me, she added silently, not just to Hollylight, but to the Gods themselves. I am yours. Show me the way.

Card against HumanityA small prick of fury caused Aspenlight's paws to twitch as his apprentice seemed to refuse to acknowledge him. He was an adult preacher, and Alderpaw was only three moons into his training. The tabby she-cat should be paying the utmost respect towards him. Young cats are so disrespectful. "Did you have any dreams last night?" he inquired, not attempting to meet Alderpaw's eyes. It was always the duty of the preacher mentor to ask the preacher apprentice about potential messages from StarClan. However, the other way around was abnormal and was never done by anyone.

... ↪ · Galekit | Outside the Nursery w/ Foxtail, Leafkit --} As much as Galekit hoped she'd built a tough exterior to her mother's fury by now, she was still young and impressionable so she couldn't help but scuffle backwards and hunch inward at the thorny words directed towards her. She was the smallest between her siblings and didn't appreciate being at the recieving end of fights started within her family. The direct attitude she adopted to protect herself only instigated problems more than it helped them now.
"I'd rather wait to prove myself with honesty once I've done enough good to be chosen," she answered and though it was meant to be a spiteful answer, it was only a whisper. However, her statement was full of hypocricy. She doubted the gods to choose anyone from this cursed family full of liars. Jealously though. When that toxic word was injected into her ears, they flattened. Perhaps it were true. She wanted to be the one to finally make mother proud and earn a sense of affection from her. If she was going to do that by lying, she was going to wait until she had enough knowledge and practice to make her fantasies sound real. Leafkit was too naive and this vision she just made up on the spot was awful.
Her sister tried to spit her own venom at Galekit, but her squeaking sibling didn't faze her. With narrowed eyes, again she gestured towards the leaf that Leafkit had crushed herself. Foxtail was always harsh and she learned from that unlike her siblings. In a way, it was mother who was dooming them to follow the ostracized lives of their older brethren. It was not her fault Leafkit had been pushed to try and fail, but blaming Foxtail for that out loud meant punishment. Maybe one day her sister would see that she was just trying to save her from absently hurling herself into a hole she was too clueless to dig herself out of before it began. If anyone was going to be mother's born preacher, she was better fit to carry out a lifelong ruse. Galekit just desired more moons to learn and spy.

--Firewhisker perked his ears as Echoheart's voice filtered toward him once again. He glanced back warmly at her initially, then glanced away as the questions she asked began to sink in. He flicked his ear to acknowledge her and let the silence stretch out a bit, acting rather interested in all the pieces of pray. "I am," he finally managed before another brief pause. This question seemed like one that he would have to be rather careful in answering - a first time expectant mother was surely worried of her own parenting skills, and anything he may say could make that experience much worse for her. "She did her best," he finally answered, stifling a slight sigh. "StarClan and all her kits have to thank her for that, I suppose. When you have your first litter, I'm sure it can't be easy for any she-cat. Your best is all you can do." Firewhisker mulled over his own response, unsure how disingenuous it was. While it was true that being a first time mother would be hard on any cat, he didn't know if he could honestly say Silvernight had done her best. Her parenting style went through so many phases it was hard to be close to her, and the one that she finally settled on did little besides hurt the kits she was meant to love. "You're going to be great," he added last minute, his tone warm as he looked at her again. He couldn't imagine the kind-hearted she-cat making the same mistakes as his mother. He finally gestured to the fresh-kill pile almost sheepishly with a brief glance over at Stormpath; "A bite to eat for us late arrivals?"

Hollylight felt a sense of dread at the last words. Truth be told, she didn't know what to do. She held her head up, pushing away the emotions. "I'll talk about it with the other preachers," She commented dismissively, looking away after she sent a mean glance to the cat.

Foxtail's gaze flicked suspiciously between her young daughters. Which of them was the real liar was about as clear to her as Berrylight's Brook in the middle of a flood, but either way, she wasn't particularly thrilled with their current behavior.
"I should hope you wouldn't lie to me, Leafkit," she began, voice stern but smooth, effortless in its authority. "You know what the Clan does to liars, don't you? You've seen what's happened to Whitetalon. StarClan had a destiny for him, but he rejected it, so now he has nothing. Make no mistake: if that should become you, I won't be there to protect you, mother or not."
She let the words - and their implicit threat - sink in for a moment before turning to face Galekit.
"As for you," she continued, "I would be careful not to assume StarClan will miraculously decide to want you. What good have you done? Attempt to ruin your poor mom's day? Slink around camp like you're already preparing to become an outcast? I once knew of a kit exactly like you - proud, always certain she knew best, full of backtalk - and StarClan broke her leg in half and made her a disappointment to her poor mother. You should take care to become the cat the Gods want you to be, not the cat you think is best.
"Now," she concluded. "Let's sort this out. Which of you is lying to me, and which of you knows the truth? Keep in mind that I'll by marching our little liar straight to the preacher's den for punishment, and I'll tell them to double it if she doesn't come clean first."

Morningpaw deflated a bit. It's not fair of you to expect her to understand every vision, she reminded herself. She's only just one cat.
"That sounds like a good idea," she replied diplomatically, dipping her head slightly. "Would you like me to come with you? I could explain it again."
After only one moon, the other preachers still frightened her a bit, especially from lack of experience with them - she was Hollylight's problem, not Grayinglight or Aspenlight's, after all. Still, she knew she'd have to learn to get along with her fellow preachers soon, and her heart brightened considerably at the thought of seeing Alderpaw. Perhaps she could offer Morningpaw more advice about surviving the early moons of apprenticeship.
"I'm sure we could all figure it out together," she added, voice tilting up at the end, warm with the feeling of blossoming hope.

"Agh, fine!" she snapped at Morningpaw, nervousness overtaking Hollylight. You'll be fine. After all, they're too dumb to realize, Holly reassured herself, putting her tail up and walking to the preachers. Hollylight was certain they were lacking the brain cells to realize. She was the smartest cat, right? The worry still sometines kept Hollylight up at night, fidgeting in her sleep and having nightmares of being an outcaast. She tried to reassure herself that if she had to she could always go rogue, but she really wasn't so sure. She tried walling off her emotions, but they always came right back at her. Whatever, lets not think of that.

Echoheart listened to Firewhisker's words carefully, sensing a tone of something she couldn't quite name in his tone. The thought of raising kits gave her a sense of uneasy trepidation. She was greatly annoyed by this. She wanted to raise kits, she wanted to fulfill her duty to Lightclan-to Starclan-and her mate. She just didn't know how.
She hesitated at Firewhisker's request to share a meal. He was a smart cat, it seemed, and apparently bold. But he was, after all, the sister of someone who had denounced everything Echoheart believes in. And sin travels deeper than blood.
"I don't get hungry in the mornings," she stated, with an air of dismissiveness. It was a lie, of course. She had been hungrier than ever since the onset of her pregnancy. But she could wait. What was pregnancy, really, except waiting?

Alderpaw allowed the awkward silence to hang in the air untill her mentor spoke. She watched the cats milling about the camp, not really emotionally invested in what they were doing. She barely interacted with her clanmates anyways. The only ones she could name on sight were the apprentices, because she shared a den with them when she was a kit. She barely knew any of the warriors though, besides her father, the deputy, her mother, and maybe a couple others
Aspenlight finally spoke, and she silently wished he hadn't. For a few seconds she was silent. What should she say? How would he react? Would he say it was nonesense? Would he take it to heart? She didn't entirely trust him to tell her what was going on with it.
However, she eventually decided that there was no point lying. She may as well tell him. Perhaps he could offer some much needed insight into what starclan was trying to tell her?
She doubted it.
".........Yes, actually. It was a strange dream. I was walking through a dark forest, and then I came into a clearing well lit with moonlight. I heard whispering in the trees, and then a voice said something in my head. It said "Alderpaw? Can you hear me, Alderpaw? Listen to me. Light clan is in grave danger...." Then I woke up."
She allowed the silence to rest in the air, before adding. "What do you think Starclan was trying to tell me?" This whole time, she kept her expression and voice as emotionless and logical as possible.
