Which of the categories do you classify yourself under? Also, which of the three groups do you feel best represents who you spend your time with most?
For example I consider myself to be an ambivert, there are some days where I really just want to relax in my alone time and refresh myself as a whole. But if I do this for too long, I do genuinely start to feel sad and isolated, so then I actively seek out social stimulation (and by social I mean actually getting of my butt and making a plan IRL, because usually chatting with my online friends doesn't quite do it for me in that case).
Currently I'd classify most of my friends though as introverts. They're usually much more up for spending a night solo or in a small group playing a game or having a stay-in movie night versus going out in big crowds. Because of this, even though I'm an ambivert sometimes I'm really the "designated extrovert" in a lot of social situations, like talking to new people or trying out a new thing by getting shoved to the front of the line xD

idk if i'd straight-up call myself an introvert bc it really does depend, but if i'm an ambivert i tend to lean p introverted ya know?? most of my friends are probably the same: ambiverts who tend to lean a bit more towards introversion unless the conditions (which tend to be specific) are good

I'm really introverted to the point of it being a disorder according to my doctor.
I'm not sure how true that is, but I've only got 3 friends and I hardly ever talk to anyone besides those friends and my family.

I think since I also hang out with people more on the introverted side I'm definitely becoming more of one also. I do tend to be a bit more shy in social situations than I used to be (depending on what it is).

TBH as long as your 3 friends are good people, that's really all you need imo. I'm very choosy when it comes to friends, so I tend to have a lot of "acquaintances" but then only like a handful of actual close friends.

Ambivert, leaning slightly more towards extroverted. Meeting new people doesn't drain me, in fact it does the opposite, though I will admit I am a homebody and when it comes to going out I probably won't show up if there's going to be more than 6 or 7 people, unless it's some public setting like a concert or something. Most of my friends are the same way. Nobody in our friend group is really the wild partier?

I don't even know anymore, haha. It seems to switch every couple of months. I'll go through periods of time where I'm super introverted and all I want to do is stay at home on my laptop or read books or draw or something and avoid human interaction as much as possible. Then bam I'll get all excited to go to a social event, be busy, talk to people and go places, etc. My social anxiety and depression just makes it even more confusing. Mostly it depends on the situation, which I know sounds really vague, but I'm not sure how else to describe it.
So I guess... neither?? I mean, if I were to fall under just one category it'd probably be ambivert, but I swing back and forth too much. A lot of people think of me as introverted, but there's also a crowd that thinks I'm extroverted. Have I confused you yet? This is really badly worded aha but you get the idea. Who knows which one I am really 'cause I sure don't

everyone's an ambivert, but we have preferences as to when and how often we are introverted/extroverted but I guess I'm extroverted most of the time?

Most of my friends are the same way. Nobody in our friend group is really the wild partier? Yeah, meeting new people is cool. TBH the way I've always seen it you actually get to KNOW new people when it's in a small group setting, whereas in really crowded situations it's more scenarios where you usually can't have genuine conversations with new people because it's too congested/loud/there's usually some other event going on like a concert or dance, so everyone has the attention span of a goldfish anyway. I think that's why I enjoy small groups more for when you're meeting someone(s)

The first "real" relationship I had, the guy I was with was extremely introverted, whereas at the time I was a lot more outgoing/got involved in a lot of events/activities at our university. Fast forward a year and some and the next guy I dated was extroverted to the extreme. He wasn't even going to classes at the time I dated him and still managed to be busier than me thanks to his social agenda. So I found trying to balance that stuff out quite exhausting/most of the time I'd get stuck behind and he'd only see me in the evening
