Yeah, that makes sense. It's why I struggled to get into the Howl's moving castle film - Howl was so different than I imagined. Sounds fun! Lots of books and art. Sunrises and sunsets are so satisfying to paint. Making the most of my last few days of freedom, mostly. Hanging out with people, lying in. Somehow not going to uni means I get less of a summer than I would've. I watched the film first and then later on was introduced to Witch Week, so my idea of Howl from the film and Howl from the books are two separate things. I take them as two completely different people and storylines. I haven't been able to go to art class recently because I've been sick so it's just sitting in a corner of my room and torturing with its unfinished look. *pats* Hope that when you are through with your freedom that it wont be to hard on you. That's a good way to see that film. Not bad, just very different. There's things I really loved about it though - Calcifer's a complete gift. Oh no, that does sound like torture! Have you managed to make some progress? Thanks Lack of freedom was tough and left no room for the forums, but I'm beginning to get back on top of things

Wow ... been ages. I've already done like 6 different art projects since. XD It looks pretty good, though the lamp and the curtains are both something I wish I could rework. Not going to happen though because I've gone on to ... well, not bigger but better things. Glad to hear! I know what you mean about the forums. I've been sort of dying to get back on but I just don't have the time thanks to school. So I'm cramming in the time where I can.

Definitely! Sassy fire demons ftw
That's great! Six art projects sounds very industrious even in that time period cx I'm sure it looks really good, you can't keep reworking stuff forever.
Same. This place takes a surprising amount of time for me to feel like I'm actually being active, so when I don't have the time I just end up disappearing.

This place takes a surprising amount of time for me to feel like I'm actually being active, so when I don't have the time I just end up disappearing. And then I have six knew WIPs. I've finished all but four now. And I've gotten further in 2 (almost finishing 1). And I finished one today. Digital is harder than traditional for me. But I'm satisfied with the hair. o3o There are some days when I disappear and other days when I'm on here all day. I'm not sure which one annoys people more. CX What have you been up to?

That's awesome! How do you find the time? Mm yeah, I'm not much at either but digital is definitely harder to get the hang of. Much less organic, if that makes sense. Hopefully neither c'x Not a lot :/ I'm doing an extra a level year at sixth form college and I think I'm finally settling in there. Found a group of friends who seem really nice But it's taking up a lot of my time. Other than that, I had another go at reoutlining A Lamentation of Swans which I'm kind of optimistic about. You?

Drawing on the bus or while I brainstorm an essay, mostly. Oh, and I draw in one of my class because the lectures aren't really heavy note-taking. That's how I've finished a lot, actually. And in the ten minutes before they unlock the door. The side-effect being one of the trees I've drawn is an exact replica of the one standing outside of my classroom. XD Yes, that makes perfect sense. It's also a bit harder for me to tell if I'm improving with digital. Mostly I'm improving with anatomy but I'm not sure if the usage of the digital medium itself is improving, if you get what I mean. Like: use of color, understand the tools, using them, brush size and how to use them, etc. But it seems to be the preferred medium too, which annoys me, because when I use it I know I could do better with traditional. One would hope, ha ha. Sixth form college? o.o What's that? Cool about the friends! Glad to hear. I'm helping out a classmate lately and talking with another before class, but I'm not sure if we'd count as friends yet. Oooo! That's so awesome! Currently my writing projects is something called The Sound Between, which is an OTRPING short story collection, most of which is about a couple OCs. Then I'm slowly considering what I'm doing for NaNo. And oh dear ... October is in a couple days and that's my writing month ... I still haven't made up my mind what writing project I want to do for that either. :/ I'll probably do the Sound Between because it gets it out of the way, but I really need to do the Will C. Morgen Project and that should really be used to heavily edit the draft I have for it. Then NaNo used for writing book two. Like ... I also really want to do that. It's just up to the choice on whether I want to get another draft of my dream works under my belt, which I'm very likely to continue to work on into the foreseeable future or whether I want to work on the Sound Between, which is the motivation I have now and can really poor a lot of attention into. This is a ridiculously tough choice.

I envy your dedication so much... That sounds like a really good way to stay in practice. Is that why you're using digital? I know what you mean, all the good digital artists use so many different effects which I can't figure out at all. Every time I try to go beyond flat colour, it just looks messy. Ikr! Why is there not more love for traditional art? >.< I guess it's like halfway between school and uni? Over here, if you want to keep doing academic studies after 16 you have to go to a school sixth form or sixth form college. Colleges cover a bigger area than schools and are only open to 16 and up, but everyone still lives at home. (Idk if that makes sense, the uk education system is weird...) I did two years at my school sixth form but I missed my uni offer, so I'm doing some extra subjects at college while I reapply. It's strange because I almost never make friends that quickly. I wouldn't say I was close to any of them yet, but I've been hanging around with them a lot outside classes. Hmm, that sounds like a good start I hope it works out! Oooh, interesting... What's it about? Oh no, I hope you managed to choose! They all sound like good choices for what it's worth, but yeah, choosing between new ideas and things you've already started is really tough. New things can be really fun if you have loads of motivation, but then that's another thing added to your to do list, and it's really satisfying to see stuff you've put a lot of effort into through, but it's harder to find motivation, and argh!

Yes, mostly! It's a bit easier that way and I can switch to my Word Doc at any time. Though now that it's Inktober I'd dragged along my notebook too. I mean, I love digital, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to do a mask layer or even what one is for. Plus, I'm using a mouse. Which seems to be a big 'O.o wait, really???' in the art community. Stylish are crazy expensive though. So I refuse. I personally love traditional art. I don't get it at all. Maybe because digital is prepared on the computer already and traditional losses a bit in transition. Ah. Junior college over here, sorta. Or I assume so. Sorta similar, only you hit that after 18 most of the time. I wouldn't know. I was homeschooled. (Huuum. But on the other side, US education is weird.) It's working out! We'll see how it goes. To be honest, I can make friendship easier away from school. If I'm in school then both of us have to find time around our schedule to hang out and even if we exchange contact info it feels so impersonal. In contrast, on here, I can keep up a conversation because I can think of something else to talk about other than 'how's school going?' All other subjects seem difficult to breech. :/ I did mange to choose. Well, I say 'I'. But really what happened was I just tossed the idea at friends and they said Will to Live. The Sound Between is me filling in some background history for some cannon characters and writing about a couple OCs in the same story. For Will to Live I've currently edited 5 out of 16 chapters. And that's the exact circle my mind went in. Sadly, I've overloaded my plate again. Thus how I am funneling that motivation for the Sound Between is by doing art for it for Inktober. XD

Nice! Hmm, I can see this escalating until you're sitting quietly before class with an oil painting. I think they make the layer they're applied to (semi)transparent, like a cut-out effect. With you on the stylus issue, but ngl that's really impressive that you make those drawings with a mouse. How do you get the precision? Yeah, maybe Scanning trad art well is definitely a headache. Sounds about right... Hey, you were homeschooled? I have a couple of friends who were/are, they're both insanely good at music and art because of it. (All education systems are weird and that is the truth.) Good to hear c: Yeah, I get what you mean - it's really hard to just walk up to someone irl and start a conversation, but I guess that's what people come here to do. Solid decision process c'x And that sounds really cool! Inktober AND nano? O.O

That'd be sort of impressive if I could figure out how it works. Er as for the precision I short of don't worry about it? I start with basic doodle that shows me the outline of what I'm drawing, then apply flat colors (since I usually draw lineless) until the edges are all appropriate (I usually keep the doodle on another layer so I can put it over the flat colors and show me if the arm is, for example, arm shaped), then I use shading and different color tones to empathize where lines would have been if I ever drew lines. That really limits how precis you have to be. Using, also for example, watercolor brush or an easily blended/shaggy brush also means you don't have to worry about the awkward lines you get from a straight pen. I hated messing with the lighting only for it to look bleached. Yep! Homeschooled all my life! And I have not done anything with music but you can clearly see my love of art, ha ha. Another reason I didn't do the school system. Because it's weird. XD I can start talking with people in my class (oh boy can I talk. You'd think I was an extrovert). But keeping connections after that class ends is very hard. And I don't know why and it confuses me. Yes. I'm insane. I'm semi-behind in both. And by that I mean I'm right on time but I like being ahead so I have some grace period. No suck luck. Still ... It isn't a hard deadline. 'If I don't make this I'm so dead'. It's a 'I'd really like to make this because accomplishment!' But I'm working on it and usually I get a tiny bit ahead on the weekends.

Still think it's pretty impressive though The three options for scanning in art: shadowy, bleached, or you've mucked about with the saturation etc for so long you might as well have just coloured it on the computer. Maybe it's a thing that all home schooled people turn out creative... Don't blame you x'D Not only is it weird, it's mostly just high pressure and having to deal with a bunch of annoying students >.< I'm definitely an introvert, so don't ask me... But being Asperger's certainly factors into it. XD Creative is basically one of the characteristics. And I wouldn't want to deal with the people, if I'm honest. I have finished all my inktober prompts! Woot! And I've almost finished editing Will to Live as well, which I'm really, really pleased with. So most of my personal challenges for October are almost complete, though there's still some ... kinks I need to work out of WtL. For the most part it's rearrange some chapter placement and I'm unsure if there should be a chapter of rest between some of the more active part. And I swear I'm using 'look, glance, etc' too often. A break has yet to come. Instead it's just added about five more things. Hence why I'm trying to press through the personal stuff so I can completely focus on the work. But we'll see how that goes. No, not really. I like Fahrenheit 451 far more. I got to think more with 451 but 1984 is just ... what it is. The class discussions at least make it a little more interesting.

That's awesome c: And with plenty of time left to go, too! Ouch, chapter arrangement can be a mess, especially if you've got multiple plotlines/Povs >.< I think the main thing is to make sure you're happy with the pace... Hmm, maybe you should, "take a look" at that habit. College, give Mint a break so she can finish her projects in peace! Good luck Yeah, I can see that - we read Animal Farm in like year 9 and it was quite heavy handed. Hope the discussions make it bearable x'D I'm glad you're enjoying 451

I have a free hour or so and that's gonna go to edit Sky of Shattered Stars. Eh. Not really. I've finished it and I didn't like the book. I enjoyed 451 compared to it. So I guess I'm stuck with it.

Well, I ended up painting in class today. XD Character owned by Iownfish. So today in class I set up a small art studio on my desk. XD A set of watercolor paints, a couple brushes that were stuck in with my pencils, and a water bottle was used, along with my all media form notebook. The only comment I got in class was one of my peers came up to me after class and asked if I'd seriously just painted all of that in class. cx Thank you. <3 Just remember you have to swim too. Those are the only two books we did. Fahrenheit 451 I'm actually starting to like in hindsight. So that one was good at least.

I RP with her so I asked her to draw one of the characters I RP (this is the guy I'm dressing up as for Halloween). He even has the glowstick hair tie. XD
