Alkaline w/ Zo
As Zo arrived back at the stable, Alkaline was in the aisle, brushing one of the horses down. The Gifter looked up as the Keeper stepped in with her horse. She gazed in Zo's direction. "Nice ride?" she asked her, bending to run her hands down the animal's legs. She was dressed more casually than she usually was; instead of battle gear, she wore a gray tank and tight-fitting jeans. Her wavy blond hair bounced slightly as she bent. As she looked directly at Zo, her blue eyes were piercing.

Zo dismounted and began untacking the horse. "Yea, it was great. The weather is lovely out there," she said with a friendly smile. "How are you today?" She always felt a bit awkward talking to the Gifter, given the impressive and somewhat important vibe the woman gave off which made Zo feel somewhat inferior.

Alkaline w/ Zo
Alkaline didn't particularly care about the weather. One way or another the day went on, regardless of how it was outside. She wondered why it was even of importance to the other Keeper. "I actually came here searching for Bray. Have you seen him?" she questioned Zo, un-clipping the horse from where he stood in the aisle, walking him back to an empty stall. She turned back to the other woman after closing the stall door back behind him.

Kylie w/ Malcolm
Kylie stood near the center of the Battle Field, a sword in her hands. Her fists clenched around the handle of the blade, eyes closed, seeming focused. Feet planted to the ground, boots digging into the dirt, she was perfectly still...well, perfectly enough that a human wouldn't be able to tell the difference. But the figure walking up wasn't human, and he could detect the slightest movement she made. Her knuckles were squeezed tight enough that they were red, the blood vessels showing near the surface of her skin. She didn't notice Malcolm behind her until he let out a 'humph.' Then she suddenly burst into movement, swinging the sword in the direction behind her, eyes slamming open as she turned, body immediately going into protection mode.

Zo
Zo began brushing the horse down and thought for a moment about how she should answer. "Yea, actually," she said, "I saw him out riding when I was on my way back. Looked like he was heading back this way. I'm actually surprised he didn't beat me here." She shut her mouth, wondering if that had been too much information.

Malcolm w/ Kylie
Malcolm was already out of the radius of Kylie's sword swing before she moved an inch. He let out a slight chuckle, as he often did, standing behind her once more. "Now you're over-compensating. You go from not being able to hold your own at all to attacking anyone that walks up to you?" He snorted as she turned to face him once more. "Might want to work on that," he mentioned, eyeing her. "Go away. I'm practicing," she moaned at him, a death glare in his direction.
Malcolm rolled his eyes. "Practicing what? Self defense? Kind of pointless against the Hunters," he retorted. "They're just going to kill us all anyway. Might as well forget the boring, painful training and live a little while you can," he spoke, before looking away from her and in the direction the the marsh, trying to ignore the scent of blood wafting off the girl.

Alkaline w/ Zo
Alkaline considered that for a brief moment before saying to Zo, "I wanted to tell him something. But, to be honest," she murmured as she leaned back against the barn wall, "I've waited so long now I think I've lost the nerve to do so." After saying so, she thought perhaps she shouldn't have even said this to Zo. But she had kept silent for so long...maybe it would feel good to share this with someone?

Kylie w/ Malcolm (Open to Joiners)
Kylie snorted at Malcolm right back. "I've been told it's my job to fight the Hunters. So, guess that's what I'm going to do. If you don't care about fighting back then why are you even here?" she demanded from him, pulling her sword back to hold it arms length in front of her, pointing towards the sky as she tried to focus back on holding it once more. She was readying herself to stab the Vampire with it if he came at her again.

Zo
Zo looked up in surprise. It wasn't like Alkaline to be nervous. "Um.. is it..." She stammered, wondering if she should pry, "is it something you need to practice? Like how people practice for a big speech or job interview?" She hoped to the woman didn't take that offensively but she was curious as to what she of all people would have to be nervous about.

Alkaline w/ Zo
Alkaline turned to Zo, then let out the lightest of chuckles. "No. The only thing I train for is battle. I shouldn't focus on anything else in life. And yet..." She suddenly trailed off, shrugging. "Even I let emotions get in the way of my duty sometimes. I try not to make that mistake. But I suppose being stuck on this island can do that to us, huh?" she remarked, pulling away from the wall. Or life does that to us, she thought to herself. "I'll leave you to your horse, then." Alkaline began to walk down the concrete aisle to the barn door.

Zo
"Being stuck on an island definitely seems to change people. I know I've changed since I started here," Zo said. She watched Alkaline walking away and called out, "hey, if you ever need to talk, I'm always around. And if I see Bray.. I'll send him your way."

Alkaline w/ Zo
Alkaline shook her head as she stepped out the door. "Please don't," she whispered, keeping a straight face, pushing her emotions down deeper into her heart. Who even knew if Zo could hear her? Then she was gone, walking out into the clearing, making her way to the main building, back to hide into her office, as she often did.The lunch bell rang.

Zo
Zo finished up with the horse, gave him a treat, and headed to the mess hall for lunch. Her belly grumbled as she wondered what they were having for lunch. She looked around as she entered the mess hall, trying to get an idea of where she'd like to sit.

Namika sat leaned against the outside fence of the Battlefield, studying the intricate designs of her throwing stars before flicking it to the other hand. She hadn't noticed Kylie and Malcolm training at the centre, as she was settled outside the field. Humming to herself, the short Keeper glanced down at the throwing star.
The weapon was old, yet looked as new as ever. Perhaps it was because it has not been used for a dozen years - it wasn't meant to be used as a weapon, but rather just a trophy passed down her family line. Keeping it on her never seemed like a good idea at first, it was somewhat delicate after all. But perhaps it will come in useful one day.

Bray Bray was already sitting with a group of instructors, at a full table. He had a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup in front of him as he chatted with the others lightly. He dipped his chunk of bread into the broth, listening to some story or another, not glancing up as Zo walked by.

Piper Cordova ~ Shifter. At the library, with Nick (Turtleshell ) & Maverick (ʙᴜᴍʙʟᴇʙᴇᴇ » )
Piper glanced away from inspecting her phone screen as Nick approached her and Maverick, slipping it into the pocket of her leggings. "Just Mav. I was trying to get some studying done, but it's just not really working out right now," she replied, putting emphasis on the word 'trying'. At the mention of last years... incident, however, her face turned pink and she glanced away. "If I had known it would scare you so badly I wouldn't have done it," she mumbled, crossing her arms in a defensive manner. Still, it was kind of funny to think back on it now, even if she still felt kind of bad about it to this day. Despite her slightly sarcastic attitude and her tendency to lightly tease those she considered friends, she would never go out of her way to do or say something that would be actually harmful. Brynndis Estur ~ Hydro. At the pool, with Sin (Turtleshell)
Brynn snorted at the mention of the Selkies, rolling her eyes. She scooted forward in her chair, taking a seat on the edge of the pool next to Sin and rolling up her pant legs so she could dip her legs in the water. She hummed quietly, tapping her chin with a finger in a thoughtful manner as she considered his words. "I dunno, I think it could've been worse," she replied with a grin. Then again, she always had been the optimistic type. "I mean, we're still alive, right? So there's that."

Malcolm w/ Kylie (Open for Namika)
Malcolm spat at Kylie and retorted in frustration, "I didn't come here by choice. You're partially the reason I'm here, so thanks. I still haven't made you pay for that, by the way, and I've been looking for a bit of fun," he mentioned, eyeing her closely as she took a step back. If she didn't feel threatened before, she certainly did now.
Kylie growled, holding her sword more closely, preparing herself if he decided to make a move against her.

Nick w/ Piper & Mav
Nick smiled. "It wasn't a problem. Taught me a lot. Besides, this will be a better year, right?" he muttered to both of them, waiting for Mav to shift back. Though, up to today, it hadn't been much of a great start to the year he realized. "I'm starving. Let's go get food." As if almost on cue, his stomach grumbled, and he held his abdomen as if to stop it. As he pressed his hand to his body, his the outline of his abs showed through his thin dull green shirt.

Sin w/ Brynn (Open to Yuri)
Sin began his sarcastic tone as he stood, getting ready to head for the cafeteria. "Oh, yeah, right. I mean, when you think about it, it's not like The Gifter was going to cut off our fingers, toes, or ears. Just the creatures and the Humans, right?" he responded in a brooding tone. Sighing, he pinched the bridge of his nose as he gave her a hand to help her up. "Sorry. I've just been thinking all week, worrying. I don't like that The Gifter was willing to do that to the Weres, Vamps and the Keepers. And I don't like that Councilors were here, either." He had spent enough time with Councilors over the years to know they were people you really didn't want around in most situations. Especially not here. Especially not now.

"There you are,"
Namika lifted her head as she heard the familiar voice and flashed Ayla a smile. The Shifter walked over to her close friend and leaned forward on the fence, eyeing the battlefield closely as she spoke. "You said to meet you here to go to lunch but you seem a lot more interested in that throwing star of yours."
Namika shook her head, "Not really... well maybe a little, usually nothing is better than food but it's just-" She was quickly interrupted when Ayla pointed toward the centre of the battlefield, mentioning seeing Kylie and the vampire. Hearing this, the Keeper jumped up and looked toward where her friend was pointing. She was right, Kylie and Malcolm were both there, but things didn't look too friendly. She frowned.
"Should we check things out?" Namika asked, glancing back at the Shifter; Ayla shrugged.
"Probably, we don't want things messing up like... last time. You go ahead, I'll stay here incase things get out of hand."
Namika nodded before easily jumping over the fence to make her way toward the two, waving her hands about to try and get Kylie's attention.
(I tried not to make it too long)

(Up to you Lost! Whatever you want to do, they're open for her though if you want to!) Malcolm w/ Kylie & Namika
Kylie didn't see Namika, too focused on Malcolm to pay attention to anything else. She had her sword clenched in her hands tightly.
Malcolm noticed Namika, of course; being a Vampire, his attention could be on many things at once. His eyes stayed glue to Kylie as he watched her, though, for a moment. As the other Keeper came closer, however, he pulled away. "Well," he finally let out, "have fun playing with your toys," he motioned to Kylie's sword and Namika's throwing stars. "I'm off to get some blood finally...they're practically starving me here," he told them with a sadistic laugh. "It's like they forget I'm used to draining a person a day. This 'one glass a meal' thing is really getting old." Then, at lightning speed, too fast for the human eyes to detect, he was gone.

Brynndis Estur ~ Hydro. At the pool, with Sin (Turtleshell )
Brynn stood up quickly, grabbing her sandals with one hand as she hurried to catch up with the quickly retreating Sin. She reached out with her free hand and laid it on his shoulder. "Hey, lighten up a little! It's gonna be fine, alright? Sure, things are looking kinda dark right now, but it's not like it's over, right? There's still time to turn things around." Despite her upbeat tones and attempt to keep the mood light, her expression was crossed with concern for the other Hydro. In her experience, lingering on the bad things in life would only make it harder to get back to where you were before. She knew what that kind of pessimism could do to a person, and it wasn't an easy mindset to get out of once you were in it.
