OOC Go!
Here would be some of mine:
Outrageous writing limits. Like I know a roleplay that insists on like, five paragraphs each reply and I'm like??? Dude how on earth am I supposed to do that much when it's mostly just characters interacting with each other?
When people then judge you for not being able/wanting to write that much. Like...okay if I was writing a book yeah I could do that, but with roleplaying? Nah.
One liners. While I don't like super long writing limits, I can't stand one liners either, this gives so little to even work with, it's like...why?
People who try to control your characters. Just, don't. Don't touch my characters, don't tell them to do things.
Perfect characters. Also when you then try to tell someone they their character is a Mary Sue and then they yell at you.
When people try to push romance, I'm a big fan of romance if it's like, logical. But if our characters have only met that day and only had one conversation (or especially if I have already stated my character being aromantic) then it just won't happen.
And then a more personal preference: joining forms. I personally loathe joining forms. Especially the ones that require something super long or want a face claim or something.

People who continually ask me to join their RP and try to guilt me into it when they know full well that I don't RP.
It's happened more than once. If I feel like roleplaying, I'll join an RP. Please don't make me feel like I have to RP.

i hate both really long and really short posts, bc both of them are hard to respond to.
I don't like short posts bc its really annoying when you've been typing a relatively long post that includes enough detail to make a reply to, and then the other person says '"Okay" she said.'
long posts on the other hand, are usually just padded out with tons of filler and its hard to pick out the actual important stuff that I can reply to.

Basically OP covered mine. Oh, and excessively long RP post? Like too many sections in one post or too many 'saves'. Like. Bro.

I feel like controlling characters should be more well known as a criminal thing.... But even advanced roleplayers will still control your characters! It really sucks, and please call me out on it if I ever do it to anyone else.
I've written five paragraphs of reply before and have none of it be filler. That rarely happens though, and it's only really when my character is going through some sort of crisis or they're in a dramatic moment in the rp. Otherwise, it's just a few lines to a paragraph or two.

Also same, like I can write that much but I have to be really inspired and my characters can not be in the middle of a conversation. Otherwise I'm pretty much ranging from 3-7 lines, maybe one or two paragraphs.

I literally had someone type a paragraph for my character once back on the old WCF because they didn't like how my character was uncaring.

I literally had someone type a paragraph for my character once back on the old WCF because they didn't like how my character was uncaring. Oh gosh 0_0 This reminds me of another thing I want to mention. I have a peeve for when roleplayers change their characters in order to "please" you? Like, they don't want me, the person, to be offended by their character, if anybody gets what I mean. But....if you're worried about that, instead of changing the character into someone they aren't (unless that's an integral part of the plot: a mask a character puts on) like their sexuality, personality, etc, you could just use another character altogether, or ask the other rper, "Hey, are you okay with....," or start a new plot. I feel like some people end up changing their characters to fit others' supposed desires, or whatever that's supposed to mean. Yeah, this was a bit vague, but I hope someone here has an idea of what I'm talking about. Like, separation between rper and character? I'm not my character and my character isn't me? (Somebody please say this in a better way than I did)

I hate it when you join in an rp and the other rper automatically assumes something--and writes something for your character in their rping which I didn't consent to or mention before.
Also when people require long af posts!! Like DO YOU WANT BS OR SOMETHING?! Also, when you're doing and the person you're doing with replies with something you can exactly reply to, but they still expect you to write something in return.
Okay I'm done...for now

i have a special "goldilocks zone" when it comes to post length for a roleplay, and it all depends on what's going on... really just confuses me when there's just, two characters having dialogue and someone has like 3 paragraphs of 'he felt worried...he remembered the events in his past...' like Please My Family Is Dying
another, minor thing as i don't do this too much-- but if i rp a character fighting/sparring with another, when someone has their character like block all of my attacks, and they assume their character lands each attack. instead of saying like, "he hit the criminal square in her chest" say like, "he took a swing at the criminal's chest", and you can talk w your roleplay partner(s) abt each characters skill/experience level ooc

I hate when people require an essay about your character in the joining form. I like to make up characters as I go, so it really annoys me when people expect me to write out my characters entire life story when I don't even know it yet.

I don't go in Fan Clans that much but from what I've seen, I don't think many clans have that rule, at least.

-no lgbt characters as a rule. i'm bi and trans and i'll make as many lgbt characters as i want. tbh i don't think i have a single cishet oc anymore
-length limits. whether it be "no posts longer than _" or "no posts shorter than _," they're bad rules. let people write a post they think is the appropriate length for what's being rped. some scenarios need longer replies and some don't
-needing face claims as part of a joining form. how my characters look changes as i develop them. any face claim will soon become out-dated so it's best to let me develop a character for a while before asking
-"if you're gone for more than _ days, weeks, etc your characters will be deleted." people get busy and have lives ???

mmmm also on the topic of lbgt characters. regardless of you thinking it's "realistic" or not (if you're rping talking cats or whatever let there be lgbt characters. it's already not realistic. like. they're talking cats that live in clans. you're not living up to realism here anyway bud) think of the message that has. like. little just-beginning-to-think-he's-not-straight-or-cis me had to deal with my identity being "inappropriate" at like 12. what does that say to you

- I don't like the black text format many "advanced" roleplayers use when roleplaying. Black is hard to read on the dark blue background. I shouldn't have to squint or turn up my screen's brightness to see what you wrote. I'm guilty of doing this myself; I've been testing it out to see if I like it, but I'm going to stop because it's just not worthwhile and more irritating than neat-looking.
- The line limit. Personally, I prefer to type longer replies, but asking for 5+ paragraphs is ridiculous imo. If you're feeling inspired, describing a scene or posting a starter, sure, that's reasonable. But most of the time novel-length replies are just filler with excessive adjectives. I try to avoid this in my roleplaying if I can help it, so if you ever see me getting too flowery with my writing in overly-long replies, call me out on it! I don't want to be a hypocrite.
- People with the "in character, ooc" layout. I'm not bashing anyone who uses this, it's just not my style. Why not just use parenthesis when not roleplaying? Seems like it'd be easier than constantly copy-pasting the same format, really.
- When people require you to give an example of your roleplaying skills instead of trusting your word on it. Back when I was still involved with Fan Clans, the big "advanced" clans wouldn't let you join unless you posted an example, and then they'd evaluate you to see if you qualify to join. I don't know if this is still the case or not... but I've seen something similar in OTRP where people will ask you to pm them an example for a 1x1 and they "reserve the right to reject you if you don't meet their expectations." I shouldn't have to pass a test in order to roleplay...
