Hunter hadn't gotten much sleep, inbetween their precarious positioning and jetlag. Finally, he had managed to drift off in the middle of the night, only to be rudely awakened early in the morning by the hysteric chirping of birds. He had quickly packed up what little had been unpacked the night before, and then ventured off into the jungle for a bit to try and find a source of natural water. Although unsuccessful, he did find the abandoned eggs of a couple birds. After determining that they weren't rotten, he pocketed them. It was a survival situation after all, and all food was precious. He was just making his way back to the tree when Faye awoke. "Good morning." He called, before holding up the eggs with a grin. "I brought breakfast."

[ yeah sure let's skip!
also dude omg I think we have like the same taste in books. book soulmates. I've read the legends trilogy and i agree with the young elites being better even though i couldn't find the third book in my library so i've only read the rose society/the young elites ;w; also i've read before i fall and i'm planning on reading some of lauren oliver's other books as well! also don't apologize! honestly if you ever want to talk about books or something just hit me up my dude because tbh i agree with books being one of the best things in the world ]
All right, which was it again? Take a left at the end of the hall or right? Admittedly Kaleb's memory wasn't something he prided himself on, he tended to rely on his muscle memory for different strikes in order to get the job done. Frowning slightly, he fiddled with the pen Christina had given him to help jog his thoughts, an action that he had done quite frequently throughout the day instead of actually paying attention in his 7th period class. It didn't help that Kaleb was still giddy from the smile that the girl had given him earlier, as he didn't expect someone who had been sending out 'don't go near me' signals at the beginning of the period could have such a nice smile, however small it may have been. After recalling that it had been a right, Kaleb adjusted his backpack and continued until he reached the library. Pushing open the door, the dark-haired boy tentatively went inside and scanned the area, hoping that he hadn't gotten anything mixed up and that his English partner was here as well.

[AAAAHAHHHHHHH YES!!!!!!!! no one that I talk to about books has read them. YOU HAVE TO READ THE MIDNIGHT STAR!!!! SHE REDEEMED HERSELF FOR THE ENDING OF LEGEND IT'S THE BEST THING EVER!!!!! I was crying and so happy and content but sad but it was perfection- ultralight beam by kanye west is perfect song to read when you're nearing the end of that book. Also vanishing girls is another really good one by lauren oliver, do you have any suggestions? I haven't found anything interesting in awhile >.< ]
Christina was already in the library, she had last period off and ran home to grab her overdue books and stopped by a smoothie place to grab a drink. She had just finished paying the minuscule fine on her library books, a couple from the series she was currently reading. Trying to hide her drink from the librarian she walked to the other side of the library, near the door and set her stuff down. Since 7th period just ended Christina figured it would take Kaleb a little bit to get over to the library so she plugged her headphones in and started jamming out to a song that she had stuck in her head all day. Grabbing her backpack, Christina placed her notebook for English, a couple pens, the assignment sheet and her own copy of Great Gatsby that had colored tabs sticking out of the sides. She read over the assignment sheet again, taking a sip of her smoothie, wondering what they should start on first.

"I brought breakfast." Faye's eyes widened in surprise as she saw the eggs, not expecting Hunter to wake up before her, as she had three brothers and they all slept more often than her cat did. Back home she was a vegan and since they were going to Africa, she knew that her food needs wouldn't always be catered to, but she felt guilt in her stomach as she thought about the fact that they were eating baby birds, but she shook the thought away, she had to survive out here. "Awesome! Did you want to try cooking them or save them for later?" She asked him as she slowly climbed down the tree with all her gear and set her duffle bag on the ground next to her and put her sleeping bag inside it before zipping it shut.

"Nope, let's save them till our rations run out. Who knows how long we'll be out here..." Hunter mused. "It was a pretty mind numbing thought, but there was no value in glossing over it. It could very well be their reality now, and they'd deal with it a lot better by facing it. "This forest goes on for miles..." He mused. "I walked a good ways away to try and find some water and I was nowhere close to getting out."

Faye nodded in agreement, they needed to save every bit of food they could, but relief washed over her, she wasn't in the mood to be eating rainforest bird eggs right after waking up, she'd rather have some sort of leaf mush, no matter how bad that sounded and would taste. "Which way do you think we should go?" Faye asked, addressing the elephant in the room, she had no idea and she was pretty sure that Hunter also had no idea and she was starting to wonder if it mattered at all, if they kept walking straight, they were bound to run into the city or some indigenous tribe at some point, right? At least that's what Faye thought. She took her sunglasses out of her backpack and stuck them on as she felt the harsh golden rays in her eyes.

There's something I think I should tell you.
The words buzzed in Lindy's head, and she paid for her lunch in a daze. Why did those words drip with weighty meaning? Really, it could mean anything - maybe Cole wants to tell her about who's sticking gum under the benches, maybe he needs to tell her about an assignment she missed, maybe Cole needs to leave the team, maybe Cole's going to move -
"Wha - what is it?" she tried to say casually as she joined Cole. She tried for a wry smile. "Don't keep me in suspense!"

Hunter replied, his forehead wrinkling as he frowned up at the thick foliage. It was impossible to see through the canopy, and try as he might, there was no way he could see any sort of hill or high ground from where they could decipher their location. "We need to be careful about where we end up, though." He pointed out. "What if we end up finding our way into a bandit's nest? Even if we do find people, we need to make sure they're people we can trust. This isn't back home." He blinked the sun out of his eyes and swatted away a mosquito, thankful that he had gotten all of the necessary vaccinations before coming on this trip. "For now, let's move North and see if we can find some fresh water." He suggested.

As he finally spotted Christina at a table with all of her materials already out, a wave of relief flooded through Kaleb as he made his way towards her. She appeared to not notice him with her headphones on so he tapped her shoulder and looked over at the display of school supplies. "Woah, I didn't know they allowed food in this library," he remarked, wistfully wishing he hadn't already finished that pack of corn nuts earlier. Although if he had, he probably would have made too much noise eating it, as he was already getting glares form other people trying to study, a reminder to keep his voice down. Kaleb sat down in the chair to the right of Christina and placed his backpack carelessly on his lap, beginning his search for his own copy of the book and the assignment paper.

[ooooooo okay I've been thinking about reading all the light we cannot see, is it good? and yes!!! they're so cute ^ . ^ have you seen the new movie yet?]
Christina froze up a bit when he tapped her shoulder then relaxed when she saw that it was just Kaleb. She took her earbuds out just in time to hear what he said and she gave a guilty look to him before answering, "Uh...they don't...I was just really thirsty," She said sheepishly as she glanced around to make sure the librarian wasn't looking over at her. She watched as Kaleb took out the rest of his stuff and had made some notes on her paper about splitting up the work. "So I was thinking that I could do the analysis stuff if you want and then you could do the character outlines, is that cool?" She asked. Christina was fine with doing more work, she was pretty good at English, even though most people didn't expect that and she loved reading, even though she would never admit to being a total book nerd to anyone.

[sorry bout that!]
Cole motioned for her to follow him as he walked away from the lunch line so they could get a bit of privacy and he stood against a wall, a bit out of the way so most people couldn't hear them talking. He took a deep breath, well there was no going back now. "I had to go over to Laney's house and I found something. Something...strange. I went into the spare room next to Laney's to feed my aunt's cat and I smelled something coming from Laney's bathroom. In the sink was a couple of red apple peels in the drain in Laney's bathroom sink. When I took them out, I smelled bleach, like someone had used the fruit to cover up the small." He told her quietly. Of course, what Cole had just told Lindy seemed like random information, except for the fact that Laney was deathly allergic to red apples and peaches, so they were forbidden in her house and Cole's aunt was an organic nut and hated to have bleach in the house.

"Wow, someone's a rebel aren't they?" Kaleb raised his eyebrows meaningfully at Christina, then cracked a small smile to let her know that he was joking. "That does look really good though. Where did you get it from?" After he finished setting out the rest of his stuff, he dropped his backpack carelessly on the space next to his chair and angled himself so that he faced Christina as she explained the way how she wanted them to divide the work. "Yeah sure, that's cool with me," Kaleb replied, nodding with approval at the plan. Pausing for a moment, he later asked,"Are you sure you're fine with doing the extra work though? I don't want to put too much pressure on you because you're stuck with the new kid," with a slight frown on his face. While she did look like the type of person who would be effortlessly good at subjects like this, Kaleb didn't want to put any assumptions on her anyway.

“Oh uh, it's from this juice place right by the mall.” She replied, smile a bit too as she saw him smile, wondering if he even knew where the mall was, oh well, Blackthorne only had one mall in the entire city, but it was huge. “Yeah, it's fine with me, I'm already almost done with the book and you probably have enough new kid stuff to work on anyways.” Christina said, she didn't want to make Kaleb do a ton of work, especially since they were going to get a new book in a few weeks and most of the stuff she gave him to do could be found all over the internet, so it was fairly easy. “So, did you do any stuff outside of school back in New York, she asked, trying to start a conversation, and she was actually fairly surprised with herself while doing so, since she usually wasn't the sociable type.

Lindy listened closely, narrowing her eyes. "That is strange," she said, eyebrows furrowed. "Do you think... someone else might've been in Laney's house?" A sense of unease crept over her. "But then - what does that mean? Why would someone put bleach in someone else's bathroom sink? To unclog it for them?" The very notion seemed laughable.

[blossomshadow - got it!] Shane was walking across campus, back to his dorm where he could finally chill out for the rest of the day and eat the mound of snacks he had been hoarding for this weekend. He walked into the building and up the stairs to his floor, taking his room key out of his pocket and unlocking the dorm, he wasn't surprised to see that his roommate wasn't there, he was always out playing soccer with his buddies. Plopping onto his bed, Shane pulled out his phone to check his police radar app to see if his arch nemesis was at it again, trying to ruin his junk food filled weekend. He pulled out a package of oreos and started munching on those.(Sorry for late response) In the distance, bright electrical sparks shined above the skyline in a sizzling fashion. Suddenly a loud boom could be heard from blocks away and with the noise came the sparks dissipating. Several minutes later, the sparks shined again followed by another boom. Maya balanced atop a telephone pole whose wires attached to a long string of poles, poles which helped route calls to the neighborhood and across the city. With each jump and landing on the next pole caused the sparks to dance along the wires and the poles to explode with an extra strong surge of electricity. She laughed as she could barely be seen as the sun was nearly gone.

"You don't use bleach to clean a sink, especially a bathroom sink." He said, Cole's stepdad was a manager for a plumbing company, so he tried to teach Cole stuff whenever their sinks or pipes were messed up and for once, it came in handy. He couldn't think of why someone would do that unless foul play was involved somehow, it had to be, Laney had so many reasons to make it to the next day. Then a though popped into his head. "My aunt never had a biopsy done, what if it wasn't the pills that killed Laney?" He thought out loud, knowing that his grief-stricken self could just being making something out of nothing, but he had to know. Laney was like a sister to him and he'd like to believe that she would've found some way to tell him or at least say goodbye.

She couldn't bring herself to say it. "But why?" she said, her frustration and bitterness from her grief evident in her tone. "Why would anyone do that to Laney?!"
It was unthinkable. Yet... if what Cole implied was true, then... Lindy had someone to blame. To throw her anger upon. Her hands curled into fists. "We need to find out," she said, tone deadly.

Kaleb nodded like he totally knew which mall she was talking about, even though he barely knew where his classrooms and the library was. Truth be told, he had probably ran past it on a small mission or something, but he most likely hadn't been paying attention to his surroundings and only on his task at the time. "Oh thanks," Kaleb replied gratefully. That left a lot more time on his hands to focus on hunting down Number Six, as it cut down his homework to a doable couple hours. However at Christina's next question Kaleb hesitated, wondering how much of the truth he should let out. "I uh, did some sports outside of school," the hunter said carefully, choosing his fake activities with caution. "Like I did some long-distance running, and a couple of track activities, like jumping over obstacles and stuff. I also took on a couple of martial arts classes, but other than that I didn't really have much of a life," he laughed, attempting to show that he was familiar with those subjects. "What about you? What else do you do around here?"

Cole stared off into space, shaking his head slightly, there were so many possibilities of what happened or a reasonable explanation as to why that stuff was in Laney's bathroom sink. Maybe she really was just trying to clean it, but the red apples? That was the part that didn't make any sense. "I don't know why they would." He said quietly, still a bit uneasy at thought that someone had intentionally killed his cousin seemed so surreal. He noddes back at Lindy, she was right, Cole had to know the truth, no matter what. If there was someone who took Laney away from the world, they had to pay. "I have to go over and feed her cat tonight, maybe we could see if there are any clues left in her room," Cole explained to Lindy, agreeing with her about investigating.

"Pretty much the same reason as you," She replied. "I've always had an interest in Africa and the native tribes and just, I wanna see the whole world. The college I wanna go to doesn't have a study abroad in Africa and I thought this would bw my only chance." She explained to Hunter, brushing a few pieces of stray hair out of her eyes. She could feel the sweat on her face already and sighed, she knew it was gonna be a hot one. But, they were in the middle of the Congo, so what would you expect?

Christina wasn't really the social type and it kept her from doing a lot of clubs and stuff, plus she usually just tried to focus on school and her other job as top monster in the area. Whenever vampires or werewolves in the area were having some sort of problem, it always became Christina's problem, not to mention she had to keep away all the Hunters that came into her area, that was always fun.

[ thanks, i totally did! there's this really good boba and waffle place that we went to at the end of the trip and that basically made my entire week haha also yesss tbh the wonder woman theme song is my ringtone rn lol oo that sucks - hopefully you can get lots of rest to help out with that! ]
Kaleb let out a soft sigh of relief, grateful that Christina seemed to be buying it. That at least put some weight off of his shoulders. "Wow, that's cool, what cafe do you work at?" he asked, surprised that someone his age could hold a job. Of course, he hadn't conversed with many people his age, and he had just assumed that he was the only one making a living off of hunting. "Also cooking sounds like a cool hobby," Kaleb remarked, and then sheepishly continued with,"Too bad I can't cook for my life. The only thing I can make is mac and cheese, and half the time I end up burning it."

[DUDEEEEEEEEEE THAT SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST PLACE EVER, i love boba and waffles, and thanks!!!!]
Christina smiled at that, she was used to people telling her they couldn't make anything, a couple of her friends always insisted on going to hangout at her house because she could make food and bake. "It's The Rose Cafe, the food is pretty good and it pays decent," She responded, smiling a bit, "Thanks and it's okay, a lot of my friends are awful at cooking, they're always trying to get me to make them something." She said, glancing at her phone to make sure she didn't get any texts from some needy monsters having a minor crisis. Then she remembered that they actually came here to do the project, she had forgotten all about it, getting caught up in the conversation with Kaleb, he was actually pretty nice, unlike a lot of other people that Mr. Ritter had decided to partner her up with. "Oh yeah, uh the project, um, was there anything that you wanted help with?" She asked him.
[oh yeah!!!! i wrote a description of reapers for the other RP I have, here it is in case you wanted it! reapers - They appear to be perfectly human, except they don't have irises, most wear color contacts. A Reaper's Reaper form can very, some are bleeding skeletons, others have broken limbs, it is said their form resembles their worst fear. Reaper's powers consist of super human speed and strength, shadow and illusion manipulation and the ability to see anyone's worst fear. Weak to Platinum.]
