Cinderpaw followed along behind Echoblossom as they padded into camp. She sat down her juniper down next to the another bundle. She took a step back and gave Echoblossom a friendly grin, "No problem!" she purred, flickering her tail towards the herbs. "I was getting bored in camp," she meowed with a small sigh before shooting Echoblossom a playful grin, "Getting out of camp was the best medicine." Cinderpaw didn't care that it was a horrible pun to make to a medicine cat, it was a little funny.

Echoblossom sheepishly smiled at the joke. "Anyways, you should eat if you're hungry," she mewed, starting to head out of the den again to get some prey. Her belly rumbled, and her mouth watered at the thought of a juicy mouse or vole.

Cinderpaw beamed at Echoblossom, pleased that the older she-cat got the joke. She followed her out of the den, “That’s not a bad idea at all,” she meowed with a slight purr. She hasn’t ate since early before noon and now since Echoblossom mentioned it, she could start to feel the hunger pangs.

Palepaw sat between the elder's den and the fresh-kill pile, hurriedly eating a vole. She had wanted to sort a few herbs before dusk. She looked up from her meal, pleased to see her mentor and Cinderpaw. "Hey Cinderpaw," the Birman greeted the other she-cat. She nodded at her mentor. "Hello Echoblossom! I was just about to sort some of the horsetail and the goldenrod."

Echoblossom nodded gratefully and grabbed a mouse before settling down beside her apprentice. "Hello Palepaw, could you make sure the moss pile is neat as well? I know the kits tampered with it because they wanted some moss for their game." She took a bite of mouse and watched as Owlkit padded over. "I thought you were playing with Briarkit and Bramblekit?" Echoblossom asked her brother, but he shook his head and sneaked a bite of her mouse. "It got boring, and I'm bad at playing anyways," he responded, his ears flattened. "At least you played with other kits your age." The medicine cat said, licking him in between the ears. "Near my age," he corrected. "They're like, one moon younger than me."

Palepaw nodded, chewing on her bit of vole thoughtfully. She had noticed they were low on juniper as well. The she-cat was just about to open her mouth to speak with Echoblossom about it when Owlkit came over. Her whiskers twitched in amusement though she tried to hide it at the kit's statements. She finished the vole, saying a goodbye to Echoblossom. "I'll sort the moss and everything," she promised, smoothing down Owlkit's forehead with her tail. She padded to the Medicine Cat's den, going into the underground part. Palepaw set to work, counting out the stalks of horsetail and goldenrod.

Echoblossom let Owlkit finish her meal, and she quickly buried the bones. "Why don't you go and see if you can help Palepaw?" She suggested, although she knew he was tired after scurrying around all day and playing. Owlkit nodded once, and then quickly rushed into the medicine den. He shyly approached the medicine cat apprentice, and watched her in silence for a while before finally speaking up, "is being a medicine cat apprentice hard?"

Palepaw looked up, startled. She smiled when she saw Owlkit run into the medicine cat den. "Careful, there," she meowed, her tone gentle as she spoke to the tiny kit. "It can be hard," she nodded thoughtfully as she counted the last goldenrod stalk. 12 stalks. 12 goldenrod stalks and 13 horsetail stalks. She stored that info for later before turning back to the kit. "It can be hard, but I couldn't imagine doing anything else." It was true; Palepaw loved being able to help others and care for them. "Now," she muttered softly, almost to herself. "I need to sort the moss into a pile." Raising her voice, she smiled at Owlkit. "Do you want to help me sort the moss?"

Owlkit's eyes grew wide with curiosity that still lingered inside of him, and he nodded. He started picking up scraps of moss that were scattered on the ground by the pile, and he held the moss with his paws as he sat on his haunches. "Apologies, I did this, I was the one who got the moss for Bramblekit and Briarkit." Owlkit meowed, placing the moss onto the pile.

Palepaw let out a mrrow of laughter at the kit's tone. "Apology accepted!" She meowed cheerfully, helping the tiny kit put the moss in a neat, square pile. The deed being done; the pretty she-cat sat back on her haunches primly. "Thank you very much," she told the kit sincerely.

Owlkit dipped his head in respect for Palepaw, and then bumped into Echoblossom as he raced out of the den. The older she-cat smiled as she watched him run off. "Everything go well?" She asked, starting to stretch across from her apprentice.

[ Hello everyone! I won't be on for a day or two because I really need to do my paper by Thursday for History. I have been putting it off too long and I get so distracted. ]
