[[ We decided not to open so I'm back ]]
"Pleasure to meet you," Adelaide responded amicably, a smile a light on her face. She nodded in response to the question. "I do indeed," she answered. "My family lives just on the outskirts of the city." As the two continued walking Addie hummed a childhood tune, the thought of the heavy parcel sitting on the chest in her room, for the moment, out of her mind. "So do you live out in the woods?" the girl asked. She'd heard of few who chose to live out in the woods, but had never met anyone from those rumors.

"Why, yes, you can't get much work where we live so I hunt and catch what I sell. My mum and dad used to work but now they try to live off the land. But I don't want to stay there forever, so I decided to try and save up some money and maybe find work elsewhere. What about you?" Jaquline was pretty much an open book, except when it comes to her abilities. Her family would make her live out in a cave if she told anyone. That was probably an empty threat, but she got the hint and kept her mouth shut.

"Ah. I see. Living off the land makes for a simpler life, no?" the girl mused. "If you could find work, what would you do?" she asked, going off of Jaquline's want to move else where. Addie was quiet for a moment, thinking about how she would answer the question. "Well, it's me, my younger cousin who thinks he's my older brother, and my parents, living in a small house just outside the city." She shrugged. "I do most of the work and providing for the family, although my mother and father do still work." Adelaide was quiet about what her work really was. It was unusual for a girl her age to be so skilled at healing, but people never asked that question when they were in desperate need of help.

"Guess we do have something in common, we're both the main providers!" She laughed a little. Jaquline guessed this girl wasn't so bad after all. She noticed the forest thinning out ahead of her and the outskirts of the city drawing near, "you wouldn't mind showing me where you live would you?" She was eager to have a new friend and prayed silently she didn't come on too strong. That was the last thing she needed right now.

Addie nodded with a small smile. "That we are," she answered, shaking her head, her dark hair moving smoothly with her gesture. The girl looked up as she could see more sky and heard the bustling of the outskirts, people waking and getting ready for work or going to market. "No, I don't mind at all," Adelaide answered, figuring that there wasn't anything bad that could happen if she showed this new friend of hers where she lived. Living in the woods in near isolation must be hard and Addie thought that it wouldn't hurt to be a friend to the girl. Once they'd passed the gates signaling the entrance into the city, Addie took a sharp left down an alley way. She hadn't been kidding when she said the outskirts. Walking down the alley, the left behind the bustling of the entrance and entered a small area of quiet. A few small houses stood there, each unique in its appearance for each was built by the ancestor of the families currently residing in them. "That one is mine," Addie pointed to a slightly larger house standing at the center.

Jaquline still couldn't get over the feeling of awe as she walked through the city gates. Although she passes through here every other morning, it was still a beautiful sight to see. She could tell Addie wasn't kidding when she said rhe outskirts of the city. This was the outskirts of the outskirts! Her home was beautiful none the less. Much more elegant than her family hovel in the woods. At least, that's what Jaquline called it. "It's beautiful." She replied

Adelaide smiled, "Why thank you," she answered looking at her house. It wasn't towering and not at all the nicest house in the city, but it did what the family needed for it to do. "Would you like to come in for a bit?" Addie asked, looking at her new friend. Then she remembered the boar the other girl was lugging around. "How about after we go to the market?" she suggested with a light laugh.

"Yeah, I was about to mention the boar!" She laughed, "I don't know what your family would think if I came in with a boar on my shoulder!" She started to head toward the market place and after passing a few blocks found one of the cooks that owned a restaurant nearby that always bought a fresh boar. He paid her about 5 pounds worth of money, which was much more than Jaquline was expecting but, she wasn't going to argue! "I have to stop by a post office. Do you want to come with me?"

Adelaide watched silently as the transaction went down between Jaquline and the restaurant cook. "I would have thought that there would be more haggling," the girl said with a small laugh. She shrugged, not having too many plans before the clinic was open. "Sure, I'll go with you, Addie said. "Are you expecting something?"

"Not, me but I'm sure my mum is. She always requests things from the stores nearby. Usually with my money!" She laughed a bit. Jaquline didn't mind her mom using her money. Jaquline proabably was not going to get where she wanted to anyway

"Got it," she answered with a nod, completely understanding. Since the opening of the clinic and the money flow that followed, her parents started spending a little more than they were used to. That meant parcels appeared on the front stoop more often than not. She was appreciative, though of the the fact that she didn't have to run to the post anytime something was to be expected. "It's a good thing we are early," the girl mused, looking at how empty the building was. In the past, whenever she had to run errands through this area of the city, there would be lines stretching into the alley behind the building.

"I try to come as early as possible." She stepped inside the post office and greeted a man at the front of the counter.
"Hello Jaquline! Expecting something today?" Asked the little old man
"Yes actually. Anything come in?"
"Let me go check." He hobbled over to the back of the office and came back with a package and a thick letter that bore the seal of the royal family. "Here ya are!" She put it down on the counter and slid it towards her.
"Thanks." She took both the letter and the package under her arm. "What do they want?" She looked at the letter with the royal seal on it

Adelaide smiled and stood off to the side as the post master brought forward two items for Jaquline. She distracted herself until Jaquline approached and asked about the thick letter. That was when Addie's eyes went wide, almost in shock. She was silent for a brief moment, looking at the letter in hand. For the morning, she'd successfully put away the thought of the letter in her own room, but now that it was there in front of her, the memory came back to her quickly. "I... I have that same letter," she said quietly, looking, still, at the flat, but thick package in her friend's hand.

Slightly shaken, Adelaide nodded. "I did," she answered, her voice smaller. She nodded again and led the way out of the post office and back towards her house. The dark-haired girl looked around as she walked, feeling uneasy about the turn of events. They were finally back at the house and she walked up the front steps and pushed the door open. Adelaide called out to her parents, letting them know she was back before leading Jaquline up to her room. The door to the left of the stairs opened to an impeccably clean room, everything had its place. And there it was, the flat, thick parcel, identical to the one in Jaquline's hand, sitting on the chest.

"This..this is...odd...either we're in trouble-a lot of it at that-or these were mailed to the wrong address." She pulled a dagger out and cut open where the wax seal was located. She opened it hesitantly at first scared to see what was inside but pulled it out all the way. She read the first couple sentences in her head *we have seen your extraordinary talents in action. You possess the skills to shape shift into one of the most marvelous of beasts: the hawk. Therefore, under royal decree, you have been chosen to go on a voyage to conquer lands for England and explore territory few have ever seen. Enclosed is your map of the explored territories and more map paper to mark down new areas. You will meet us at noon today. -signed the royal family*
"This is not good..." she said outloud to herself

Addie was silent as she walked across her room to get her own letter. Her hands shook as she stared down at the parcel. She made a move to pull at the seal, but hesitated, looking down at what was likely to change her life forever. Taking a deep breath, the healer followed through and pulled the contents out. It was thick and as Addie flipped through them, she noticed that most of it was unmarked. The dark-haired girl looked at the letter that covered the rest of the packet. The calligraphy was unique, that of a skilled Royal. The letter read:
We have watched you work. Sent people to your clinic and know what you are capable of: complete healing, with a 100% success rate. Under royal decree, you have been chosen to voyage across the waters to conquer land for the crown and explore uncharted land. Enclosed is the map of what is known as well as paper for you to map what you come across. You and the select others shall meet with the Royal family today at noon. Be prepared.
Addie looked up from the letter, trying to let the words she'd just read settle on her mind. "There's no way this is correct," she muttered, sweat beading on her forehead.

"S-same..." her hands shook as she began ripping the letter, however, she didnt rip the map paper. *how did anyone find out?* but she told herself she should go to the meeting anyways. "Did anyone else you know get a letter like this?"

Addie shook her head, but just as she did, her door was pushed open and her cousin stood in the doorway looking pale. "Marc? What happened?" she asked, looking at him, the fear she felt fell away, replaced with concern. He didn't answer, rather he held up the letter in his hand. "Oh no..." she whispered, hand coming up to her mouth.

Addie shook her head. "No, it's not," she answered, looking at the stack in front of her. She looked over at Marcel who also shook his head, indicating the validity of the text. "Nope, this is real."

"Not the only one," Addie responded, looking around. "I'm a healer. No matter how bad it is, I can heal it 100%. A deep dagger would that'll leave a person bedridden for a fortnight? If they come to me, they can be back on their feet within the day." She sighed and looked at the papers again as Marcel began to speak. "I can never forget things," he said with a light shrug. "Oh, and I'm Marcel, but you can call me Marc."

Marcel smiled and nodded. "That's an interesting power!" Adelaide looked at Jaquline and the time before shaking her head. "It's almost time to meet them, anyway," she said.

"You're right. I better hurry up and clean my self up." She felt around her neck underneath her cloak and when she pulled out her hand again it was covored in blood "Ew..." she assumed it was the boar's blood, but at least it was hidden from the others. Well...that is until she saw her hand covered in it.

Addie nodded again, looking over at Marc who nodded too and walked out of the room. "Here, you can get cleaned up in my bathroom," she offered. The girl walked to a connecting door and opened it. "You can borrow something of mine if you need as well."
