Lynxpaw shook his head. "We saved his life. He owes us for that." He sighed. "Besides, I have a feeling about him. I don't think he's going to cause us trouble. I trust Skyflower's judgment. She wouldn't have let him into our camp if she believed he was going to cause trouble. And it's obvious she knows him better than she's letting on." Rustlepaw was thoughtful at that. "She seemed very defensive about him..." She mused lightly, before she shook her head and puffed. "Agh. I just want to protect Sunclan. I want a chance to fight!"

Wolfpaw felt a tingle of pride in his chest when Emberstar mentioned that Skyflower would be sharing his punishment. Though he didn't want to be punished, he understood that this outcome was better than Skyflower getting off scot-free. "Yes Emberstar," he meowed a bit sullen, dipping his head to his leader.

Lynxpaw purred and gave her a lick on the ear. "You'll get your chance to fight for your Clan," he meowed. "But we don't want to start a fight that we can't win."
Emberstar nodded. "Off you go, then," he meowed to them."
Skyflower dipped her head and looked at Wolfpaw before stalking toward the elders' den.

Rustlepaw felt herself calmed by Lynxpaw's words, though she had a small smirk on her face. "A battle we can't win? Hah. Where's your pride? This is a battle we'd win. I know it."
"Aha! So looks like both of you are here! How bitter that must be." Sootflame snorted when he saw the senior warrior and the apprentice. In his simmering, he had calmed down, and now he simply sighed. "I'm still cleaning my own nest, and Wolfpaw brought me prey earlier. So you two can work together to get these ticks off me...Awh, Skyflower, you have your mother's heart, but I always feared it'd get you hurt." He looked at his old friend's daughter.
"I'm not angry at you, Skyflower. But I certainly am worried for you all." He sighed, suddenly dulling with tiredness.

Lynxpaw shook his head. "Of course we would win, but is the win worth it if we lose cats along the way? What I meant was, we don't want to fight a battle until we can fight without losing anybody. And to do that, we need a strategy."
Skyflower looked at her father's dearest friend. "I just... I can't see another cat get hurt and not do anything about it. He would have died if I hadn't gotten him back here to see Slitherfoot." She sighed.

Rustlepaw looked slowly at Lynxpaw. "I'd die...if it meant I lived my last moments fighting like a warrior. I...suppose I wouldn't want anyone else to die, but I mean, I would. I thought about that, a lot, you know." Her voice grew a bit quiet, thoughtful and light. "How long I can go before I slip up and...so I instead think about how I can go out a hero."
Sootflame gave a heavy sigh, settling down into his nest and turning so they could get the tick off his side. He mewed, voice rusty with age. "I know. I watched you and your brother grow up, raised my own kits alongside you two. I always knew you'd be sympathetic. But I warn you, Skyflower, and I warn from experience. Don't let them use you. Because they will. Many will." He grumbled, tail lashing at bitter memories.

Lynxpaw nuzzled her gently. "You're already going to be a hero. Just think, you're going to be the first blind warrior. And I know you don't really want to be known for being blind, but you're paving the way for other kits who are born blind, or apprentices or warriors who lose their eyesight in battle. You are creating something that can bring hope to other cats who wish to be a warrior, but have always believed they couldn't because they can't see."
Skyflower gazed at Sootflame and dipped her head. "Of course. I would never let anybody use me."

Rustlepaw felt her chest ache at the words, flushing with a sense of self pride and faint joy. She took a deep breath. "That...means alot. Though, I realized a long time ago that it's okay to not see everything. I'll never judge based on how you look. I won't see blood, I won't see death, I...Well, if another blind kit is born, I hope they fel that way too."
Sootflame gave a slow nod. "I should hope so. Hmph. It seemed like yesterday this whole clan was just an idea. The way Sunstar talked back then, the light in his eyes. I could see where his name made sense." He closed his eyes slowly, happily.

"Well..." the long-furred she began, her ears moving as she gathered her thoughts. "They could be potential warriors. They might want to stay with us." Skunkstripe sat quietly for a few more moments, before beginning to speak again. "But I get what you're saying," she brought her paw up to bite an itch on her pad. "we can't be wasting herbs, especially with leaf-bare in the near future."

Lynxpaw purred. "And I know you will make a great mentor for future blind kits. You will have a lot to teach them. The most important thing you could teach them, though, is that blindness is not the end of the world, and that they can easily live a normal life."
Skyflower gazed into the elder's eyes sadly. "Do you miss them as much as I do?"

"We have enough warriors." Leafblaze replied tightly. She was still learning to trust her own clanborne clanmates let alone the rouge and loner ones. She shook her head, sighing. "I'll do my duties as usual."
Rustlepaw bit her lip, looking suddenly at Lynxpaw. "I'd love to be a mentor. It's something I really hope for one day...Lynxpaw, why are you so kind to me? I haven't done much for this!" She asked.

Lynxpaw tilted his head to the side. "Why would you have to do anything special to deserve kindness?" He asked. "I like to be nice to everybody. But you..." He hesitated, unsure of whether he should say what he was thinking.

Sootflame's one eye shot up at the question, scorching orange and full of deep emotion, before he calmed himself and looked old and tired once more. "I miss them all. Sunstar, Moonfrost, my dear Silverdusk. My kits...No father should outlive his kits." He shook with emotional pain, but pushed himself to brunt it as he usually did.

Skyflower gave him a comforting lick on the ear. "I didn't mean to upset you," she meowed. "It's just... You're the one of the few cats that remembers my parents when they were young, and sometimes I miss them so much it physically hurts and I feel like I can't survive."

He hesitated, unsure of whether he should say what he was thinking. "Well, I mean...I dunno, it just seemed like something you gotta work for. That kind of respect. But...it's nice. It's a nice feeling." She turned to smile at the tom with a wolfish grin. "But I what? I rock?" She joked.

Awh, they're only a Silverpelt away. Up there, in the stars. Not too far." Sootflame soothed, voice strong.

Skunkstripe shook her head. She knew that more warriors meant more hungry bellies, but... More warriors also meant more cats to go hunting each day. More cats to defend their home, more cats to fight in battle. She kept her mouth shut, deciding to drop it for now. Whether or not the rogue stayed wasn't even remotely related to her—it was completely up to the loner themself and the leader. Her black paws carried her a bit further across the snowy camp, wanting to take a peek inside the medicine cat's den. She was curious, after all.

(Sorry, i had to read a few pages. From what I've gathered, Daisystep is still out with Finchflight. So i have Mosspaw, Tanglepath, and Thunderheart open.
Tanglepath needs to move to the nursery, as her kits are due soon, so Wolfpaw is going to need a new mentor i suppose.)
Tanglepath casually walked past the medicine cat den, attempting to act normal. Her neck craned to see into the den, looking for Rush. Had he even noticed her, and if so, had he noticed the fact that she was carrying his kits?
Mosspaw stepped out of the medicine cat den, the day's turmoil heavy on the young cat's mind.

After the clan meeting had broken up, Dawnpaw padded off to her friend Mosspaw. She frowned after seeing the troubled expression on her face. "Is everything ok?" she mewed softly, stopping just short of the den, glancing at Rush's body inside. (So Moss... I kinda had this idea a while ago, and I wanted to know what you thought... 😈 Dawnpaw developing a crush on Mosspaw/the crush being mutual? ))

Slitherfoot remained in the medicine cat den to watch over Rush, and she nibbled at some thyme as she listened to the activity of from camp. As her gaze wandered toward the entrance of the den, she caught Tanglepath as she tried to look inside. There was no doubt about Tanglepath's pregnancy at this point. "Tanglepath." She meowed.

Slitherfoot noticed her apprehension. "Don't worry. He is quite unconscious, still." She meowed, and she padded over closer toward the entrance to meet Tanglepath halfway. "Anyhow, I'm sure you have noticed, but I think you need to stay in the nursery at this point. You are well in your pregnancy, and it wouldn't be safe to push yourself anymore." She meowed in a low tone.

(( I think it'd be fun because of how many layers of drama it could be, with it being both a lesbian relationship and the fact that medicine cats can't have mates ))
Dawnpaw hesitantly padded closer, glancing at Rush off to the side. She couldn't begin to imagine what kind of stress the apprentice was under. "I'm scared too," she admitted softly. "But I think Sunclan is in good paws with you and Slitherfoot."

Dawnpaw lowered herself to the ground to join Mosspaw. She began to groom the black she-cat's pelt, starting with a few comforting licks on her head, then moving to her scruff. "Do you enjoy what you do, though?" she asked, flicking her ear in question.
