Rafael grinned. "I managed. The pack split-up worked well. How's the Alpha faring these days?" he asked. His impatience was mostly rooted in the excitement of seeing the pack again. He missed runs in the woods under the moon, and above all, he missed his friends.

Rafael waved at them. As he watched the two, he felt something akin to nostalgia bubble in his chest. It wasn't that long ago that he was about their age, maybe three years. He had worked his way up in the pack, sure, but that didn't mean he didn't occasionally miss playing like a pup. He gave in and stuck out both of his hands for high-fives. "Glad to see you guys back." he said, smiling brightly.

Rafael tipped backward and laughed, catching himself against a tree. He pushed Jay off, though with a little more difficulty than he would like to admit. He was a little rusty, even after just more than a month. "Do you think it's safe to do a run tonight? You know, once the whole pace is here. Maybe a good hunt?" he asked, turning back to Alexia and brushing himself off.

Rafael nodded. While he loved to howl as much as the next wolf, he considered the Alpha's decision wise. He gave Vee a half smile. "Hey, it's better than no hunt at all." He looked to the Alpha. "In my opinion, it would be easier if we left just before sundown." His tone suggested it more as a question than a statement. He glanced at the sky though the forest canopy. The sun was still high, and it looked liked they had time to kill. "Maybe we could scout our old hunting grounds until then? Just to make sure." he asked.

Rafael nodded again. He looked at his watch and sighed. He scanned the surrounding area and sniffed. He furrowed his brow. "Where are Violet and West? They're late." He consider their previous CRUCA incident and bit his lip. He turned to Jay and Vee. "Didn't you two say you saw them?" he asked. It wasn't time to worry yet. They were probably coming any second now.

A second wolf emerged, her pelt of a slightly lighter color. Or at least, the patches you could see were. She was covered in mud. She transformed into a willowy girl with mousy brown hair down to her jaw, her jeans and jacket also muddy. She adjusted her bangs and huffed, annoyed. She looked up apologetically at the rest of the pack. "Sorry I'm late. I got stuck in the mud and had to shift to get out." she said, shrugging sheepishly. She was missing her left shoe, revealing a mud-caked sock.

Mason sighed. "I hope CRUCA gets on manufacturing them. Many people find the cattle industry barbaric, but what's the other option? Killing every single person you drink out of?" She thought vampires were treated the worst of all the magical creatures. She was going to add something else, but her phone started ringing. "Oh i'm so sorry, but i have to take this. She got up and start4ed walking before she picked up her phone. "Hello... Oh hi Jackson!...College has been good, what about the police academy.... I told you it would be harder than you thought!.... No.... You want me to go where? There's gonna be a what there?... Oh wow free stumps? Really?... Of course i'll be there." She walked back over to Symphony. "I'm so sorry about that, just my brother."

Symphony nodded her agreement, "Totally. It would be much better if CRUCA manufactured it since they aren't exactly easy to get. And yeah, I mean, we need to eat. Not every vampire kills the person they drink from and, as far as cattle goes, they normally aren't treated poorly, aren't injured and always get released." She then studied the sky, trying not to easdrop on Mason's conversation with her brother. "Oh, that's fine." She said once the other girl had finished.

Jackson lay in a puddle of his own blood as he tried to stay warm. Leg was twisted in a strange angle, and his shoulder was bent backwards. His pack was trying to go undercover in order to go into the human city of Crestfall, but once his alpha had gotten into the city his betas turned on his Alpha. They killed his Alpha. When the subordinates, which included him, tried to help the Alpha two of the four were killed. Kathryn, they Kath, was the other survivor, and she had run into crestfall the forest as well, and he thought she was in better shape than him. As his pack had expelled him, the magical energy that binds a pack together strengthens when there are more numbers, even strengthening the pack's physical power, was no longer being strengthened, he couldn't heal nearly as fast. This wound would probably take him about four hours to heal, and he would have severe scarring.

(Back) Mason nodded. "I really wish CRUCA got it. I mean once Vampires are bitten, they're a vampire for life. So... If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? I've heard vampires live forever." She was curious, as Mason had never met a vampire before, besides the ones that had tried to kill her. Those vampires were normally after her Mom.

Mason wanted to squeal with excitement, but kept her normal seeming demeanor in check. "Do you want to come to a thing with me tonight? My brother told me the carnival is in town in the Citadel. It's supposedly celebrating the day us creatures were liberated from the evil Valeria Black. It's supposed to be really fun, and there's supposedly gonna be a huge turn out of people."

Violet agreed. West had been a good companion while the group was split apart. She had held her position as a subordinate for a while now, and while she wanted to advance, she knew she couldn't. She wasn't a good decision maker without orders, and she tended to crack under pressure without guidance. West had been a friend and a guide. "I'm glad to be back in one piece." Violet listened intently to the Alpha's explanation. "Good idea." she remarked, cataloguing the plan in her mind.
Rafael laughed at their mud-covered clothes, and nodded along to the Alexia's recount. "You might need two shoes for this one." he said teasingly. Violet blushed. "Alright, any first impressions? Should we branch off when scouting or approach as a pack? If we play it safe, a flank of some kind would be pretty effective." he suggested. He wasn't a terrible strategist, for a beta. But, as usual, the Alpha made the final decisions.

"Bye!" Mason smiled at Symphony as she left. Her brother was volunteering at the carnival, apparently, with his Wizards friend. "I wonder it there will be reapers there" Mason whispered under her breath. She walked behind the restrooms, and pulled a large four faceted clear gem out of her backpack. Her magical essence immediately started to fly around it, and she spoke. "I wish to see the City of Magic." And she disappeared. The gem was a waystone, the one magical relic that requires little to no magical essence. A second after she spoke, and closed her eyes she was in the bustling city. It was a vast city, that required a lot of excavation to fit underground. Mason was in the center of the shopping district. "Let's find Levi. She started on her way, and while she was in the street part she bought some chocolate.

Mason stopped stuffing her face with chocolate to try and find Levi. She scanned the crowds of people until she found a young man who seemed approachable enough, at least he did among the Arch Wizards, and Pureblood vampires. She walked up to him, and tapped his shoulder. "Have you seen a boy working around here with brown, thick hair like mine, and blue eyes?" She was hoping to get to see him before the first day of festivities picked up too much. "I really need to find him."
