Hawkfoot glanced up from the particularly interesting leaf she had been studying and blinked in surprise, not having noticed the tom's return to camp. "Morning." She replied, not used to being addressed for pleasantries - especially not from a cat as quiet as Batfrost. Her amber eyes darted down to his addition to the pile, "Nice catch." She meowed after a heart beat, eyes returning to the tom's face.

"Thanks." It was kind of unnerving, having people stare at you. Then again, he'd brought this upon himself. He had no right to complain...But because Batfrost was Batfrost, he was going to do so anyways. He wasn't great at accepting compliments; probably why he had never really tried dating or anything like that. "So. Those leaves interesting?" His two-toned green gaze slid down to the one at her paws.

Hawkfoot scoffed, "About as interesting as pile of dirt." She glanced down at it for a moment before pawing it slightly, watching it slide across the earth away from her. She wasn't interested enough to bother retrieving it. She looked back at Batfrost. "It's the best I could do in my situation." She motioned towards the lanky Elkseer scuttling about his den and going through his herbs. "He had a 'vision' I was bit by a poisonous beetle or whatever hunting today and made me promise to stay in camp until he's sure he has the right herbs to treat such a bite." Her voice was laced with annoyance and amusement.

"Hmm." Batfrost snorted. "You sure he wasn't just being paranoid? I doubt a bug would have hurt you all that much if you decided to go walking around. I mean, it's just a bug." He sat down in front of her, plumy tail curling around his oddly dainty paws. "Then again, at least he cares, however oddly he shows it."

Hawkfoot shrugged, "I'm sure I could take a beetle, but I've been wrong before." She glanced back at the medicine cat, "Yes," she agreed, "Odd indeed, but he has a good heart and knows his herbs. I guess that's all you really need in his position." She flicked her ears in an attempt to get rid of a particularly annoying fly, "So, what am I missing on this," she glanced up towards the sky then back down again, "amazing day?" She inquired, rolling her eyes slightly as she spoke the question. It was awful being stuck doing nothing she decided.

"I believe you could." It was probably the closest thing to a compliment that anyone would ever get from Batfrost. "And, I guess. Wouldn't know, really. Never been around medicine cats before. Never really been around Clans before; all I know are the stories that Boarstar's dad passed down. Even then, they're blurred." Batfrost looked upwards as well, though even he wasn't sure what he was expecting to see. The fawn tom chuckled. "Everything secretly turned into an island," he snarked. "All around us is water now. Good luck trying to swim across that."

Hawkfoot shrugged, "Then you know more about clan life than I do.I'm not really sure what on earth to do, but Boarstar is a good leader and I'm learning - well, trying to, anyways." Her eyes flashed with amusement at his answer, "Maybe it drowned the beetle that was going to bite me. Serves him right, the little weasel."

"That's good, at the very least. She appreciates the effort." Batfrost responded in turn. "And, most likely it did. Think of it; have you ever met a bug that could swim? Other than water striders. But it's in the name, so they're an exception to the rule. So, guess you're free now."

She snickered, "Now we just have to convince Elkseer." She glanced again at the long-limbed tom who was still searching determinedly through his sub-par herb stash. Turning back to Batfrost, she meowed, "So you and Boarstar are related I've heard." She blinked, "Do you ever get jealous?" She inquired. There was no teasing or searching in her voice, merely curiosity. She knew if she had a littermate or kin in a position above her, she wouldn't like it.

(lolol also I made a mistake in Hawkfoot's form: it should say respected rather than feared. that was my own fault ;n; also yeah, Elkseer is cisgender u-u' I forgot)

"That we do," he said, casting a glance over at the tom before returning his attention to Hawkfoot. "And, honestly? Not really. I'm not exactly the leading type. So I don't care that she's leader. Not like I plan on ever being deputy, honestly. Didn't even plan on being a warrior at first." The fawn tomcat shrugged with one shoulder.

Hawkfoot twitched the tip of her tail as she listened. She hadn't talked to many cats about their personal lives, she realized. It was always regarding patrols and hunting or asking her leader what needed to be done. Then again, she found most of her clan mates somewhat dull. However, she was interested in what Batfrost had to say. "I see..." she mused. "So," she began, "if you weren't a warrior in the clan, what do you think you'd be doing?" She inquired, genuinely interested in his answer.

He too found most cats dull. It was in his nature, really. The majority of people simply weren't worth his attention, though he'd gladly spare them a few snarky remarks as he had plenty of those to dole out. At Hawkfoot's question, he paused briefly before beginning to speak. "Honestly? No idea. I mean, I pretty much go where Boarstar goes; if I didn't, though..I don't know. Guess I'd just wander around. Maybe have a few experimental flings here and there just because why not. How about you?"

Hawkfoot's eyes flashed with mischief for a moment. "Oh, I don't know... probably off being bitten by a beetle somewhere." The corners of her mouth turned upwards a bit in a little smile. Then she continued, "If I'm being honest, I don't know. I'm sure I'd be on my own somewhere trying to get by." She blinked, "The thing is, I don't mind living by myself and hunting by myself or traveling by myself," she paused, "but I don't fancy being lonely." She tilted her head slightly, "As odd as it is adjusting to all of the cats here, it's nice to - to not be alone, you know?" She asked, her voice growing somewhat quiet at the end. She had never spoken so long to another cat for as long as she could remember. Strangely enough, she was enjoying it, but she could feel her pelt getting warm with embrassment. She wouldn't blame Batfrost if he left right then and there due to boredom from her long answer.

"Ha." He didn't even actually laugh, just said 'ha'. What the heck, Batfrost. He twisted his head briefly to nibble at an inch on his shoulder. "I can sympathize with that; though mostly I like the quiet. Gets maddening, though, having nothing to do but have conversations with yourself all day, every day. So, sometimes it's nice just to be around other living beings."
[Aww man, I love Hawkfoot's character.]

(Aww thank you! This is the first time I've used her and I'm pleased so far with how she's turning out! I'm sure she's going to end up liking Batfrost if for no other reason the fact that she's actually had a conversation with him but idk if she'll act on just out of sheer awkwardness lol)
She nodded, "I was on my own for a few moons before I came here." She blinked her hazel eyes, "it was nice at first, but I'd see cats traveling together or lounging around their twoleg's dens just chatting with other kitty pets." She wrinkled her nose, "and while I'd rather be a worm than a kitty pet, something about their composure... just at utter peace and content with laying in the sun and talking." She laughed softly, almost to herself, "I don't think I could do that, id run out of things to talk about." She glanced down at her paws. "My life hasn't been very interesting." She stated.

[Yeah, this is pretty much the first time I've used Batfrost as well. The previous RP Group I was in with him ended up shutting down and deleting before I could even roleplay him at all. Though in my defense, I already had a fairly good grip on his character. Eelbite, though, is definitely someone I'm still working on. And I have no doubts about that haha. But, if she does act, he'd be willing to sire kits with her, but I sincerely doubt that he'd want to play a large part in their lives. He just isn't one for romantic relationships, really. Not to mention that fact that I'm pretty sure he's gay. Then again, Batfrost is a bit of mystery even to himself, I think, let alone me.]
"Mmm," he grunted, and scratched his ear with a paw. "Sounds nice. The laying in the sun and talking part, I mean. No responsibility, though I don't think I could handle being boxed in either. If only for a while, it sounds nice. And, doesn't everyone run out of things to talk about at some point? It's not much different." He looked out across the camp, narrowing his eyes in thought. "If it's any comfort, neither has mine."

(I don't think Hawkfoot would enjoy a romantic relationship as much as just reliable companionship if that makes sense. The only reason she would have kits is to have a "legacy," not because she wants them. Were she to have kits, she'd probably carry them, birth them, and then entrust them to another queen to nurse and raise through most of their kit hood. She would be more of a mentor than a mother.)
Hawkfoot chuckled, "so here we are, two uninteresting cats waiting until we run out of things to talk about." She mused, her meow laced with sarcasm. "But it's not a bad life here. New and unfamiliar, yes, but it shows great potential."

[Makes sense to me, yeah. I usually don't see characters with that philosophy, though. Interesting.]
"That we are," he fired back, equally as sarcastic. Honestly, sarcastic was just his natural state of being. "And no, I guess it's really not that bad. We have food, shelter. Water. A few non-annoying people to talk to. That's all you really need in life." Batfrost mused. "Definitely unfamiliar, that's for sure."

(It's new for me too. Hawkfoot's main goal in life is to succeed and she feels as though raising a family would keep her from doing that. Of corse, should she have kits, she would care for them and make them into the best cats they could be, but she would never be a mother to them as a mother should be. I'll probably have her have kits later because I think it would be interesting to see how they would turn out having a mother who never acted like their mother and (assuming Batfrost is the father) a father who was never present. I think they would be really unique and fun characters to rp and develop.)
Hawkfoot nodded, "that really is about all you need. I-" Her sentence was interrupted by the medicine cat cautiously approaching the two cats. Elkseer spoke slowly and quietly at first, "oh, ah, Hawkfoot, Batfrost," he dipped his head to each warrior in turn. "I hope I'm not interrupting and I won't take up your time long - I just wanted to inform you that I found the herb." A lopsided grin briefly flashed across his brown face and an innocent pride filled his eyes, "you're safe." He laughed slightly "I suppose you thought me rather silly - beetles and all that... but really I just want you to be safe." He motioned to the camp with his long tail, "all of you. The whole clan. That's my job." He straightened up slightly at that last remark as if he felt as though it was the most important thing in the world to keep these cats well.

[Wouldn't mind having Bat be the father. And I'm sure he wouldn't mind, either, provided he lives that long (he's already like 5 or 6 years old, last time I checked). Also, now that I think about it, wow does his familial line have a history of being absent parents. I cry every time. And yeah, I always thought that characters who come from abnormal situations are fun to play around with/watch grow, as well. Glad to see someone of like mind.]
He was truthfully about to speak before the medicine cat came up to them. Batfrost straightened up a bit. "You're not, trust me. Things haven't exactly been exciting." The fawn cat decided not to mention that he did; that'd be a little bit more salt in the wound, he was sure. And occasionally, Batfrost was considerate. "You do your job well, Elkseer. I will say that."

(wow I had been posting from my phone and reading back over my grammatical errors are making me cringe. ;u; I think Batfrost being the father would be a plus considering we would be able to split the kits and seeing how you'd be interested in seeing how they turn out I'm sure you'd do a marvelous job of rping them. and poor Batfrost the little abandoned thing ;-;)
Elkseer's long whiskers twitched in pride at the compliment, he didn't get many of those. It wasn't that he was treated unkindly, but most cats only spoke to him when they needed something. He never expected to be thanked for praised for what he did - after all, it was what he was supposed to do. This made receiving compliments all the more special for the lanky tom. "Well thank you, Batfrost. Very high praise indeed."
Hawkfoot smiled slightly at the brown tom, "Thank you, Elkseer. It's good to know I'm not going to be taken out by a beetle anytime soon." She held back a laugh.
The medicine cat smiled at her and nodded, "Not on my watch you won't!" and with that, he gave a farewell flick of his tail and scurried back to his medicine den.
The she-cat turned back to Batfrost, her eyes light with amusement. "An odd cat indeed."

[Yeah, splitting the kits sounds like a reasonable option. And thank you, that means a lot to me.
His mother never really cared for her kits even though she was the one who wanted them; when they got old enough Leto just cast them off to the far reaches of her gang's territory. Hadrian doesn't even remember his siblings' faces, and he barely remembers his mother's. Also, speaking of Leto, I really should take the time to develop her. She's an interesting character, I'll say that for sure. And Rowanheart just stepped in to be a donor, he didn't assist with the pregnancy or anything.]
Batfrost simply nodded, watching Elkseer's retreating form. "Indeed," he said. "But he's tolerable, as far as cats go. And he genuinely tries. I don't hate him, I'll say that for sure."

(Wow so it's almost like Batfrost wouldn't know how to be a "father" even if he had any desire to. Hawkfoot is similar (in the aspect of her taking after her parents). Her father she never knew and her mother taught her children how to fight and hunt and then sent them on their way. She wasn't mistreated, but she was never loved. She traveled with her brother for a while but they decided to split after he found a she-cat and started a family. He decided to stay with them because he didn't want his kits to be like him; without a father. Hawkfoot saw no appeal to waiting around to see if her brother would ever decide to travel again so she bid him adieu and left.)
Hawkfoot nodded, her red tail flicking, "I don't see many cats being able to hate him. He doesn't speak unless spoken to or if it's necessary, and he doesn't involve himself in any of the clan's drama. The most upset he's ever gotten is when he runs out of any given herb." She tilted her head in thought, "I'm not even sure where he comes from or if he has any family out there." She shrugged. Elkseer did his job well and tried his best for the clan and that's all she cared about. His backstory didn't concern her and she wasn't looking to be besties with the long-legged medicine cat.

[Yeah, you put kits in front of Batfrost and ask them to take care of them and he'd be all "????????????" about them. Of course, he'd try his best, but still. And aww, poor Hawkfoot. But, good on her brother for staying with his mate and kits! Geez, at least Boarstar's parents were in a loving relationship. Lisha never did stop loving Miles, even long after he died. She didn't end up taking another mate, either. Her + Bat's paternal grandparents, though, are a different story. One started off manipulating the other into loving him, then neglected them for the majority of their relationship. Half the time he wasn't sober (huzzah for opium and other things? no), and rarely showed his face around the kits. But he eventually realized that he really did love them, and though they still instinctively keep things from each other and are too prideful for their own good, he's genuinely trying to make up for his past mistakes. I mean, yeah, I explained that simply, but like. That's my OTP, man. ๏ฝ ๏ฝ ๏ฝ ๏ฝ ๏ฝ ๏ฝ ๏ฝ

Batfrost stated simply. "A regular, agreeable guy. And, I've no idea where he comes from, either. Then again, it's not really my business to pry, and if he wants to say something someday, I figure that he will. I'm not pushing him." He fell silent, deep in thought.
