Brambleleaf padded into Birdstar's den, Willowthorn following closely behind.
"Yes?" Birdstar said as the two cats entered. He turned around, seeing that the patrol was back. "What did you find, and where are Cloudpelt and Duskkit?"
"A group of rogues from the Twolegplace had taken Duskkit and Thornkit. They had told us that Duskkit broke his right foreleg and wouldn't let us take him back unless they felt he was ready to travel. The rogues let us stay with them for the night, but Cloudpelt decided to stay with Duskkit until they let us take him back to camp," Brambleleaf explained.
"Alright. Return Thornkit to the nursery and tell Flamefur to watch her and Whitekit while their mother is away," Birdstar announced, "You two won't be required to do warrior duties today. After your journey, you are in need of some rest."
After Willowthorn and Brambleleaf exited the den, Birdstar thought about Cloudpelt and Duskkit. With all the danger they have gotten themselves into, I should probably punish them, he considered. What should Birdstar do?
A. Delay the kits' apprentice ceremonies by one moon
B. Confine Thornkit and Duskkit to the nursery for a few weeks to a moon
C. Don't make a decision on punishments until Duskkit returns
D. Don't punish the kits

Birdstar thought about punishing the kits for sneaking out of camp, debating which idea he should choose. I guess it is unfair to punish Thornkit if her brother isn't back, he decided. The leader yawned, realizing how tired he was. Thinking of taking a nap, he padded to his nest and curled up.
After Willowthorn had returned Thornkit to the nursery, Brambleleaf padded out of the den to get a snack from the fresh-kill pile. It was a little past sunhigh, and the mice the rogues had fed them weren't that filling. As Brambleleaf left the den, Willowthorn noticed her stomach growl. Turning her head towards the kits, she saw Whitekit asking Thornkit to tell him about what happened. Thornkit's fur was beginning to fluff out at the memory of the rogues. What should Willowthorn do?
A. Ask the kits to join her for a game of moss ball
B. Tell Whitekit about what happened to Duskkit and Thornkit
C. Join Brambleleaf at the fresh-kill pile

"Whitekit," Willowthorn meowed, "I can tell you what happened."
Whitekit's ears perked up at Willowthorn's statement. "Please tell me," he begged, padding up to the warrior.
"Your brother got injured in the forest. A group of rogues kidnapped him and Thornkit, and they said that Duskkit was not well enough to travel. Your mother decided to stay with him and the rogues. I'm sure they'll be back in a few days," Willowthorn explained. Truthfully, she believed that the rogues would not let Cloudpelt and Duskkit leave for another quarter moon or longer.
"So Duskkit and Cloudpelt are gone?" Whitekit asked.
"Yes, but only temporarily," Willowthorn responded.
Whitekit's eyes clouded with sorrow at the thought his mother and sibling being away.
Willowthorn saw the kit's sadness and began to regret telling him the truth. Maybe it was best that he knew what was happening, she thought, before looking at Thornkit. The other kit was hiding behind Flamefur. What should Willowthorn do?
A. Ask the kits to play a game of moss ball
B. Talk to Flamefur
C. Leave the den
D. Try to comfort the kits

"I didn't mean to upset you," Willowthorn meowed, "and I'm sure that Cloudpelt and Duskkit will only be away for a short time." The warrior tried to comfort the kits, though they still didn't look calm.
"Willowthorn, I am glad you told the kits the truth. It was for the best for them to know what was going on," Flamefur suddenly spoke. She then addressed to the kits, "Whitekit, Thornkit, come here. I will tell you a story."
The kits rushed towards Flamefur. As they came closer to the queen, she wrapped her tail around them.
Despite Willowthorn's unsuccessful attempt at comforting the kits, she was happy that Flamefur could do the job for her. Deciding it was best to leave Flamefur and the kits alone, the warrior padded out of the nursery. What should Willowthorn do?
A. Go on a walk
B. Take a nap
C. Eat something from the fresh-kill pile

Willowthorn padded out of camp, deciding to take a walk to clear her mind. Like the name of the clan suggested, BirchClan's territory consisted of a forest of mostly birch trees. The warrior padded into the forest, soon becoming unsure of where she wanted to go. A little ways away from camp was a river, where Willowthorn sometimes liked to relax. At the same time, she had the desire to go on a quick hunt. She was also debating on her original plan, going on a relaxing walk through the forest. What should Willowthorn do?
A. Go to the river
B. Walk through the forest
C. Go on a hunt

Willowthorn debated the thought in her head, deciding that going for a hunt would help her keep her mind off of the current events happening in her clan.
The warrior hunted until a little past sunhigh. She had caught a mouse and a thrush. She had buried the mouse to hunt the thrush and was on her way to grab the mouse and head back to camp when she saw that someone had dug up the buried mouse and took it. Willowthorn sniffed around the empty hole, smelling a familiar scent of cat. Rogues, she realized. The same rogues who took Duskkit. What should Willowthorn do?
A. Continue to follow the rogue scent
B. Head back to camp and tell Birdstar the news
