{ ooc: ah, sorry, i was at my boyfriend's! }
- Kiaran felt out of place in the group. He knew all of them, all of them were (mostly) nice, but he just... well, he'd never been one for big, crowded cities. The noises and lights seemed to put a fog over the rest of his senses. He'd wanted to go to the mountains or something, but no, this was a once in a lifetime thing, apparently. He didn't get what was so "once" about it. There had been plenty of package deals online.
He took his key without a word, having followed silently behind Jordan and Simon the whole way, one hand tucked snuggly in his hoodie pocket, and the other dragging his suitcase behind him. The hotel was nice and all, but he was already trying to spot a nook where he could manage to hide away for at least some of this trip.
Kiaran knew full well that there was no way he could get out of everything they were going to do, and he wouldn't necessarily try to, but he always needed to wriggle out of some of the group plans, feigning a stomachache or headache or a bout of homesickness so potent that it knocked him off his feet...
They would catch on eventually, but hopefully that wasn't going to be this trip. He was already feeling uncomfortable, thumb rubbing over the rough inner lining of his sweatshirt, making him feel just a tad bit better. Being connected to home was nice, whether it was through an article of clothing or just his phone. Some called him a homebody, but he just thought of himself as more... connected to a place he knew. He liked knowing things, being able to identify places and people. It gave him an anchor.

Simon had let out something akin to a terrified squeak when the young man had turned his focus onto him, even if the question was directed at Jordan herself. He just kind of hid behind her, studying the ground like it was the most interesting thing in the world, only relaxing when the guy left with his girlfriend. Then the dark haired young man let out a breath of relief, before giving Jordan a fierce glare.
"W-well that doesn't mean it can't happen! It could have, and maybe you do know how to c-care for yourself but th-that doesn't mean you should do stupid stuff!" He snapped, although there wasn't much fight in his voice, his lips thinned into a line. He folded his arms and tried to look intimidating as he did so before Alex came over and he let out a soft huff instead and stuck his tongue out at the remark of being childish and took his card.
"Jordan was being stupid," he complained to Alex, blue eyes slightly wide in protest before beginning to follow the other boy towards the hotel room. Over the past few years the young man had really been brought out of his shell around his friends, and you could see the difference in him when he was with them. He glanced back at Kieran, hoping that he'd be alright with the entire adventure. The guy wasn't really cut out for the big city, so he didn't know how much of the trip he'd enjoy but he hoped that they would find something for the guy.

"When is Jordan not being stupid?"
Those were the first words Skylar had spoken since the group's arrival in Manhattan. For most of the walk to the hotel, she'd had her nose stuck in a tourist guidebook, reading about the city. Now for the first time the ginger looked up, closing her book and sliding it into the laptop case that she carried at her side. She offered Jordan a bit of a smile, trying to convey the fact that she was just kidding; she would never be rude, not intentionally, anyway. She shifted her backpack on her shoulders, pushing fiery strands out of her eyes. "I can count on one hand the amount of times that Jordan's managed to not make a fool of herself within the first five minutes of walking into a new place."
Smiling, she took her room key, twirling it in her fingers for a moment before sliding it into her pocket. She began to follow the others down the hall, longing to lay down in bed and put her feet up, with her headphones on and music playing loud enough to drown out the sounds of the city outside. She may have grown up in Montreal, which in itself was a rather busy city, but there hadn't been this much background noise, especially not from the traffic. Honestly, she jumped a little every time she heard a horn blare out on the street; it brought back the memory of that time when she'd nearly been hit while walking to her apartment in Rhode Island, hardly a month after she'd moved there to go to college, and it was starting to make her anxious.

(Jordan will admit that 95% of the time, she's doing something stupid) Skylar will then butt in and be like "nah it's more like 99.9% ok"

Skylar will allow her to have fun but will lowkey tease the heck out of her for it for the rest of her life
Honestly though if Alex is The Dad then I can 100% see Skylar being The Mom lmao))

Jordan pocketed the key she was handed. "You're such a dad, Alex," she commented, but she was glad that he was such a dad. She could always count on them to make sure they got to their flight on time and had their hotel rooms booked. She then turned to address her other friends.
"Look, Simon, I'm sorry for being such a jerk to you. I just want you to loosen up a bit. I'm not gonna charm a random guy into giving me his motorcycle," she said, laughing. She began walking towards their rooms. "Plus I would never put myself in danger in front of you. If I survived, you'd never let me hear the end of it," she said.
She then turned on Skylar. "And, hey, you call it being stupid," she paused, walking backwards and turning to the whole group. She winked at them. "I call it having fun."
When she reached the room, she unlocked it with her key and tossed her suit case onto one of the beds, claiming it as hers. "Now, I don't know about you guys, but I say we ditch our stuff here and go talk to the front desk lady about haunted hotels," she said. Jordan paused, thinking. "Or hang gliding." She paused again. "Or see if she has any other ideas. Maybe I'll just bring Ezra's list instead," she said. Her friends had never met her cousin, and she couldn't see them ever wanting to. The young man was even worse than her when it came to 'having fun'.
"However, if you guys are dead set on going the 'safe' route," she said, using air quotes on 'safe', "we can pick something else." She read through the list Ezra gave her. "Getting a tattoo? I already have one, but I could always get a second. Um, asking a random stranger out on a date? That's a bit sketchy, but I gotta finish the whole list. Or," she kept reading, "Oooh. Bungee jumping?" she asked. The list was full of great ideas, though she wasn't quite sure her friends would agree.
"I even made sure my camera's fully charged." She pulled the video camera from her carry on bag. She inspected the camera. It, too, was a gift from Ezra. Sometimes Jordan felt as if he was more like a brother to her than Elliot. Elliot was cool, just not Ezra level cool.
(I'm gonna head to bed now)

What's it like in Manhattan? Really, what was it like in Manhattan... living in Rhode Island for her entire life made for a nice childhood, but as an adult, Naomi wanted something more, at least more than the yearly trips to Boston. Not that Boston didn't make for a good city life, but, honestly, at this point she wanted to expand her boundaries outside of New England. Even if New York wasn't that far off, it was still reaching out of her comfort zone, as her and the rest of the small town gang would all be completely out of their element.
Yeah, the gang - they were an interesting bunch, bonded together by... some sort of experience, not that it specifically mattered, because in the end, they all agreed to take this road trip. Two weeks of being with nobody else but each other, lovely. Naomi took time to herself to take in her surroundings once they got off the bus right off of Broadway, right up until they arrived at the hotel. She gave a small smile at the exchange centered around Jordan between the rest of the group.
"Aw, mom, dad, don't be so uptight," Naomi mused dramatically in response to Alex and Skyler's disapproving quips. "We're all adults here, we don't need any chaperoning. Though, I think Simon probably still needs the buddy system."

(Oh cool! Yeah I live in the west currently and country here suuuuuucks so I usually stick with show tunes XD But when I go home it's country all the way.)
"She's not when she's asleep," Simon retorted at Skylar, a small smile playing on his lips when the ginger finally spoke. He glanced at Jordan, not exactly responding to the apology because of her insistence that he got out of his shell more. Why would he have to? He had the friends he needed, and he had just enough social skills to work during shoots- for some reason talking to others didn't scare him when he was directing. Maybe it was because he was talking at them, not with them. But anyways, he had just enough skills to get him by, before brightening at the comment of tattoos. "Ooh! Tattoos would be fun! I've been wanting to get one!" He said, suddenly excited, a rare bout of energy flowing through him. He wanted to get one of those tattoos that looked like a heart monitor line but turned into two base clefs that formed a heart. He was planning on getting it on his wrist, before shooting Naomi a half hearted dirty look, blushing lightly at the comment. "There's nothing wrong with the buddy system! It's a big city, lots of danger, lots of people!" He protested, eyes wide when he didn't realize she was teasing. Plus, Yknow, his crippling anxiety when it came to talking to strangers but that was besides the point. He didn't go in the room yet, ready to defend himself, although he didn't really look like he was offended, just worried at the thought of being alone here.
