"Don't worry Wolfstar; she's about to start kitting," Sunfall meowed without turning away from his patient.
Wildpaw burst out of the apprentice den, eager to find out what was happening.

Sunfall snapped back to reality. Jadepetal! He was on his paws and back into his den in a heartbeat. He'd already prepared a small leaf of herbs for her just in case. Quickly he grabbed it and darted into the nursery. "Jadepetal," he meowed, dropping the herbs in the nursery. "Take a breath Jadepetal; this is the long game okay?" He pressed a paw on her and ran it down the length of her belly. Jadepetal tried to stop herself from screeching in pain. She took a few breaths. "I'm trying." Jadepetal groaned as another spasm hit her. "Oh, it hurts so much..." |

"I know," Sunfall meowed, "And it's only just beginning. But you're a fighter remember?" He kept gently massaging her belly, trying to ease the kits along. "Tell me, what are you thinking about naming them again?"

Moonblaze bolted up when she heard the yowl of pain. "The kits must be coming!" Her tail tip twitched with the excitement and anticipation of meeting the new young warriors of the clan

Jadepetal began slowly. "I want to name her..." She gasped in pain as another sharp spasm took her, "Finchkit...And if I...Have...A...Tom...Hazekit..." Her voice grew weak though she tried to fight through it even though the blasts of pain were hard to take. "Hazekit..." She tried to imagine the little kits she'd have, it calmed the pain some. |

Moonblaze blinked at the apprentice. "Quite the opposite." Her blue eyes brimmed with excitement. "Oh I can't wait to meet the little ones!"

Moonblaze flicked her with her tail. "Nonsense, you'll be able to teach them lots of things." She stared at the nursery, wondering how things were going. 'Sunfall is a good medicine cat. Everything will turn out fine' she thought

Streamheart was resting in the warrior's den when she heard faint pants of pain coming from the Nursery. She shot up from her laying position to a standing one. She bounded out of the Warrior's den as quick as she could. She trotted over to the Apprentice's den. "Crescentpaw!" She mewed. "One of are Queen's is kitting!"
She could hear her apprentice waking up and yawning lazily before coming out. Her eyes were as big as the moon her name was related to. "Streamheart," she meowed. "What are you doing just standing there, come on!" Together they raced to the Nursery. Passing den-mates and friends on the way. They dipped their heads to Wolfstar and sat down, not wanting to buy th the Queen with the distractions that talking came with.

"Maybe I can get them to collect moss for me!" Wildpaw exclaimed.
"Yeah Jadepetal, the first one is here!" Sunfall encouraged. He moved down to the little kit and nipped the sack open. Then, he started pressing on the kits chest to get them to breathe. "Keep going Jadepetal!"

Jadepetal breathed deeply. "My little...kit..." She meowed, looking at her little kit. "Tom or...She-cat?...." Jadepetal had a moment of peace before another big spasm took her. "Oh!" She groaned.

Moonblaze purred. "I suppose that's one way to look at it. But you can show them the hunters crouch, and when they get older show them all the best hunting- and moss collecting- spots."

"Just focus on pushing Jadepetal," Sunfall told her. "You've still got two more to go!" He could see the second kit; hopefully her jutting would continue to go smoothly.

Jadepetal nodded and pushed on as she felt something more slide out. "Another...Kit...Almost..." Her words were cut off as another harsh spasm convulsed her.

Jadepetal pushed with all her might and she felt something slide out of her. She gave a few wheezing breaths and turned to meet her kits. "They're wonderful." She breathed. The small scraps of fur darted to her belly and attached themselves. She looked up at Sunfall. "Which are she-kits and which are toms?" She asked. Tiredness broke over her face again.

(Also, all cats have aged one moon. For example: my apprentice is now 8 moons instead of 7)

"Maybe one day" Moonblaze had never thought about mentoring another cat. She hadn't been warrior very long herself but the prospect of being a teacher excited her. "Seems like a lot of work though."

"You have one she kit and two toms," Sunfall purred. "Three beautiful little kits." He nudged them towards her belly. "Go ahead little ones, eat."
Wildpaw's eyes grew wide. "Really? You don't want an apprentice? You get to do all sorts of cool stuff with them! My mentor teaches me all the best moves."

(The female she-cat has a fluffy gray pelt like her father's and clear amber eyes. The first male is a gray and white Tortiseshell with bright blue eyes. The last male is a large pure white tom with bright amber eyes and large paws.)
"Beautiful!" Jadepetal purred. She snuggled her head up against her little kits. "Kits...My kits..." She whispered happily.

Jadepetal purred. "I'd like to name the she-kit Finchkit, the small tom Hazekit and the big tom Blizzardkit." Jadepetal mewed, licking the kits to warm them up. "Tell everyone that they're free to see the kits."

"Actually," Sunfall began, "I'd prefer it if you all got some rest first. They clan can stand another day before they see them." He rested his tail across her shoulders. "Having a string of visitors will only tire you out and agitate the kits. You both need a nights rest."
