(I'm alright. I only slept for about two hours though, so I am a bit drowsy. How are you?)
"Sootkit, from now on, you will be known as Sootpaw. Before we can get to your apprentice ceremony, though, we have one more hong to get through." His eyes were fixated on two cats. "Wildpaw, Cresentpaw. Please step forward."
---
"Isn't this exciting?" Cresentpaw squeaked to her companion. She stepped forward, vibrating happiness and pride.

Wolfstar purred at the young cats reactions, though it wasn't long ago that he was in the same spot as them, about to be a warrior.
"I, Wolfstar, leader of FireClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn.
"Cresentpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and protect your Clan - even at a moment's notice - even if it means the end of your life?"
--
"I do!" Crescentpaw mewed, her voice became an octave higher, like if she was still a kit. Her eyes were blazing with excitement, and she tried to guess her warrior name.
--
"Then by the powers of our warrior ancestors, I give you your warrior name. Crescentpaw, from this moment you will be known as Cresentmoon. Our warrior ancestors honour your quick thinking and your commitment to the Clan, and we welcome you as a full warrior of FireClan."
"Cresentmoon, Cresentmoon!" The cats cheered. Though Cresentmoon's former mentor could be heard the loudest.
"Wildpaw," he turned to the other apprentice next. "I, Wolfstar, leader of FireClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down upon this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn.
"Wildpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, even at the risk of your downfall?"

"Of course I do!" WIldpaw exclaimed. He would be the greatest warrior this clan had ever seen.

"Then by the powers of our warrior ancestors, I give you your warrior name. Wildpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Wildheart. Our warrior ancestors honour your courage and bravery, and we welcome you as a full member of FireClan." He leapt down and licked Cresentmoon's shoulder, who did the same, and licked Wildpaw's. "Meeting dismissed!" He yowled. He padded away from the new warriors. Vigil, he had reminded himself, and went back to his den where he saw Sunfall.
"Sunfall?" Wolfstar questioned, his blue eyes quizical. "Shouldb't you be training your apprentice?"

Sunfall's eyes grew cold. His apprentice; that could very well be the source of his problem. "We need to talk, Wolfstar. Now."

Wolfstar, surprised at his Medicine Cat's urgency, settled down in his den. He beckoned for Sunfall to do the same. "What's troubling you?" He asked the golden tom, tilting his head to one side. His whiskers brushed against the hard surface of the mud and he snorted, shaking his head, waiting an answer from Sunfall.

Sunfall stood where he was. "Several sunrises ago, I received a vision from StarClan. I saw a shadow in the camp, slithering around through the shadows. I went closer, and it attacked me, but in doing so it came into the sunlight, where it whithered and died."

Wolfstar's eyes narrowed in confusion. "What does it mean?" He asked the Medicine Cat in front of him, tail-tip lashing slowly in annoyance. Why couldn't any prophecy or vision actually be helpful?

"It means there's a snake in our camp," Sunfall told him. "A vile, vicious, cowardly snake slithering in the shadows, festering, plotting, waiting for the moment to strike."
|
|
|

Wolfstar blinked in surprise. "An...actual snake? StarClan wouldn't be so straight-forward...oh..." his eyes narrowed into an icy look, no longer the welcoming blue they once were. No, he was mad, and it was painstakingly clear. "A traitor? In my camp? Did you perhaps get a name?" He hissed. His eyes blazing. He stood up, his spine brushing against the hard clay top of the den, and unsheathed his claws. "Nobody will get away since we know this." He growled.

"No!" Sunfall snapped. "We can't do anything- we can't say anything! We have to watch, we have to be smart. We don't know who it is, or if this cat has even taken that path yet." Sunfall paused; there was another reason why he wasn't so keen to act. "In the vision, I was the one bitten. Only they didn't show me if I survive."

Wolfstar's eyes were fixated on the tom-cat. If StarClan had sent a vision, that meant the cat was close to doing something to Sunfall or other cats. But maybe the cat had already done something. "Then you need guards to protect you. We don't have an extra Medicine Cat - only a barely trained one! It makes sense: take out the healer and we can't heal ourselves or cure ourselves from sicknesses. A perfect way to destroy the Clan, if you ask me." He hissed. His fur was fluffed up but was slowly coming down as he made his way out the den because it was slick with dry mud. He shook he pelt out and leaped up on the ledge that loomed over him. He waited for Sunfall to join him on the Announcement Ledge.

Wolfstar hissed. "I do not want my Medicine Cat in danger. I'll make up something so that my warriors aren't suspicious. Is that alright for you?"

"No! I will not be a prisoner in my own camp!" Sunfall declared. "I don't need protection, we need a plan!"

"What plan? Waiting like sitting ducks and practically giving yourself up? Great plan Sunfall! This is why I go to you all the time!" His claws were ripping the almost-greenleaf grass. His blue eyes were slightly crazed, saying "I thought I could trust my Clan!" clearly in his look.

"Keep your voice down!" Sunfall meowed, glancing swiftly back and forth. "If you alert the clan without a suspect, you'll do to them what I've been dealing with! They will panic, and be afraid; they will be divided and turn on each other. We need time."

"Fine!" Wolfstar hissed, his blue eyes challenging, "What do you suppose we do, instead of protecting the cat the prophecy basically told us to? Do you have a better idea instead of waiting for something bad to happen or telling the Clan to be careful and protect you?"
|

"In two sunrises, it will be time to visit The Starlight Caves. I will speak with StarClan directly; if they don't give me an answer, then we can try things your way," Sunfall told him. He couldn't see that happening, but it would at least give him time.

Wolfstar leapt down from his ledge and glared at Sunfall as he went by. "Fine!" He growled. He knew what he wanted to do. He wanted to run. All this time stuck in camp, never truly himself. Even with, or without his Clan-mates. "I'm taking a run." He mewed to the tom. "Watch out for any... suspects." He hissed under his breath. Then he was gone, shouldering himself through the camp entrance and running.

"Fox dung!" Sunfall spat, watching Wolfstar go. This was already causing a divide; maybe he should have kept this to himself. How could the clan survive if the two of them weren't on the same page? Unless he's the cat-he is hiding something.
