Gale Amari 34 ≡ male ≡ pure ≡ Khepri, silver fox ≡ inspector ≡ supports ungifted knowledge of magic Honest. Loyal. Easy to miss. Truthseeker, skilled summoner. Sleek and small, Khepri is easily hidden and very good at getting into hidden places. She looks like a very typical silver fox - black hairs tipped with white to give a silvery appearance, darker muzzle, ears, and legs, and a white-tipped tail. The only thing that sets her apart from non-Daemon foxes are her sharp blue eyes, which are scarily alike her human's. She is mischievous and sly, and very smart. She holds an interesting ability to be further distances from Gale, though she does not utilise the ability very much. As some Truthseekers' Daemons can, she can also sense the truth vs a lie. If she isn't with Gale, then she's usually with Quinn.
Long-legged and lean-muscled, Gale Amari may only stand at 5'3'', but there's something unnerving about him. He has slender features, and is often referred to as pretty due to them. His skin is a lighter shade of brown, his wide eyes a soft blue-green. Tousled, wavy/curly hair is brown in colour with reddish undertones, cut in something like an undercut that's been allowed to grow just slightly. His bangs sometimes fall into his face, but that doesn't particularly bother him, for the most part. He's generally considered delicate due to his appearance, and his sweet smile and elegant movements often back up that observation. However, upon another glance, the many scars that litter his body can be noticed. They're more prominent around his hands and arms, but the two through his right eyebrow are rather easy to pick up, too. There's scarring over his throat that looks like it was torn at by a beast, and his back is riddled with the types of scars that only magically-enhanced blades could produce. The man's been through his fair share of hard times - what can I say? For once in his life, Gale is actually somewhat up-to-date on fashion. Fitted button-up dress shirts, usually white, some sort of silk vest (usually black or dark grey), and well-fitted black dress pants usually keep him looking neat. The dude cleans up pretty well, all things considered. In colder weather, he'll wear a chesterfield coat. He is a simple man. More of a listener than a talker, Gale is usually an easily missed presence due to a mixture of his smaller stature and how eerily quiet he can be. Don't get him wrong - he can talk for hours to people he gives a damn about, but he's often spoken over and so he just doesn't care enough to speak up. He is highly intelligent, being able to do complex mathematical equations in his head (despite his odd quirk of being completely unable to count on his fingers), and he is also a linguist. He's surprisingly kind towards most people - though he can be semi-hostile towards louder people or when he's anxious - and he has some extreme patience, even if he's prone to being impulsive. When he's backed into a corner (mentally or physically), he is extremely prone to flicking back to how he used to be, lashing out with words that can sting. It's best to remain cautious, because he is one helluva bastard to fight with words. He has an adversity to touch and people know if they've brushed against him due to how pissed off he gets. It's his decision on how far people can get into his personal bubble, and, presently, there's only one he's comfortable to get close without permission (hint: it's the man he's currently dating). He also has eidetic memory, which is more of a curse than a gift, for him.
Though most would not know it based on appearance alone, Gale has had a troubled past. As a young adult, he was in a magical gang named the Jackals, and they were notorious across Egypt for using various black magic types. The Jackals fell when Gale was twenty-four or so, and he fell into an endless cycle of what should I do while he was on the road with the only other survivor, Sabah Ganim. He was eventually betrayed by her, and later rescued - although, let's be real, the damage was done. He later joined MISS and managed to work his way up the ranks rather quickly due to his abilities. Woo.
Currently in a relationship with Quinn O'Sullivan close to his sister, Kesi Amari, as well as her children he is a very powerful Truthseeker - he's especially good at detecting when people don't know they're lying. it makes him a common sight in interrogation rooms. as a summoner, he uses rather powerful incantations to summon beasts to do his bidding - but he's pretty handy when it comes to curses, too. though nobody actually knows this, he has also dabbled with black magic in the past (primarily killing/torture spells), and so...that's knowledge he holds.

ink & bone's claim
Aelius Distal 44 ≡ male ≡ pure ≡ Rhybudd, european hedgehog ≡ inspector ≡ supports ungifted ignorance Cautious. Vigilant. Defensive master, sensitive to magic traces. Rhybudd is a small hedgehog in various shades of brown, with light marks around the face. Her spines are slightly longer than normal for her type, but she has not hurt Aelius since she was set in this form. She has a very sharp sense of smell, and it is the main way she can trace magic at all. She commonly is either in one of Aelius' coat pockets or on his head, easily able to stay in his mess of hair. Rhybudd is extremely defensive of Aelius, and will not shy away from showing her spines. Most do not notice Rhy at first, since her spines are very similar in color to Aelius' hair. - At 5'6", Aelius Distal is relatively average at first sight no matter what you focus on. His features are rather plain, a mess of medium brown hair and dark brown eyes adorning his face. He is sturdy- a man comfortable on the ground, in his position, and at peace in his current lifestyle. Most pass over him as another random person- the curve of his chin, his cheekbones, and stature do not give him any uniqueness. He does not look like anything special, even to many MISS members that do not know him by name. His clothing choices are smart and do not show any poverty or wealth, other than the fact that they are neat and relatively fine looking. There are many different kinds of clothes in his wardrobe to fit in, and he is most comfortable in a white dress shirt, dark grey trousers, and a coat or vest on over it. He wears glasses, due to being nearsighted. They are the only thing that do not change regularly about what he wears- a sensible pair of black glasses, well kept and taken care of. - Aelius is the epitome of constant vigilance. As one of the best defensive magic users in MISS, he is always on the lookout for threats or ways to keep others safe. He will not rush into situations and prefers to know all he can beforehand about something, a trait that others tease him about but one that he will back up with arguments. Unless he wishes to talk, he will stay absolutely silent in a kind of observation mode. He is suspicious of anyone that has traces of dark magic around them that he notices. He will watch them as if they are a danger to society- and if they are, he does not let them stray from a short leash. He is not close to many people- his own demons have stopped him from doing that as well as his general wariness of the people around him. He strives to never be caught of guard, and many people who know him definitely know to not approach from behind unless absolutely necessary. Aelius sticks to the edges of rooms he enters to not be caught from behind, and those who do... end up nursing wounds in the end. It has stopped many criminals in the process, however. He has a polite friendliness to him when conversing, but his eyes are never completely still in the interests of keeping up with his surroundings. - Before he was in MISS, Aelius lived in Portugal with his wife as a consultant with their magical law force. While out helping them his wife was murdered by a criminal that they were tracking and Aelius never quite recovered. Various other encounters while in Portugal and his first few years with MISS only contributed to his paranoia, making him a valuable addition despite the blows it took on his mental health. - Used to be married to a lady called Elise Distal before she died in a confrontation against a criminal a few years back. Does not have any kids. The cousin of Nerva Helfeir. Very wary of them, and the only one to know many of their secrets. Keeps a close eye on them, since he knows about them diving into the dark arts. Not fond of them. Extremely skilled at defensive magic- shields, warding, and parrying offensive magic. It isn't to say that he doesn't know his fair share of offensive magic, but his true skill lies in protecting others and making places safe. He despises dark magic and any who use it, and has never dabbled in it. Besides defensive magic, he does have some ability in water and ice elemental magic. Aelius is not very good at medium to advanced fire based spells, though, although he knows many types of magic to gather knowledge on how to protect against them.
Nerva Helfeir
37 ≡ nonbinary/agender ≡ pure ≡ Aquila, golden eagle ≡ sergeant ≡ neutral Secretive. A hunter of knowledge and crime. Mimicry user & skilled illusionist. Aquila is a beautiful golden brown member of his species, dangerous and always on the lookout for prey. They will eye most anything as such, even other humans, and will only stop around those that Nerva has a connection to. He can be seen either soaring above Nerva or on their arm, on a specially padded glove made for him. Most flinch away at his sharp gaze, intimidated. He is excellent at keeping down daemons that are as big as a fox or smaller until help arrives, and is a good scout. He is very observant and intelligent, and is best at spotting magic over long distances much better than many humans or daemons.
Nerva Helfeir stands at roughly 5'4", a short size compared to their daemon. They aren't made for any sort of physical confrontation, constantly awake and thin although strong enough to hold Aquila for long periods of time. Their features are distant, as if constantly thinking of something else, and their pale hazel eyes do not give away much unless they're angry. They have light brown hair, sometimes in a gingerish hue, and it is in a short tied up tail on the back of their head to keep from getting in their face. Nerva has many scars on their arms from before they used proper falconry gloves to hold Aquila and doesn't mind them showing, although it doesn't have a regular chance to with the clothes they wear- usually a light colored coat with falconry gloves over it and a colored shirt underneath with dark colored trousers. Almost always feeling cold, Nerva keeps the coat on most of the time. - They are a secretive individual- most do not know much about Nerva other than that they enjoy reading and have much the same look that their daemon does when it wishes to hunt at times. Nerva is a fanatic about learning magic, a trait passed down from their father- they will read any and every magic book they can get their hands on, from elemental magic to black magic to rare passive magics and back again. It leads them down dark roads that they don't care about the dangers of- the way black magic and deceptive magic works fascinates them. It shows in their specialty- illusions. Despite this, they're very eager to share information to those who want to learn it and won't tell the world, but they despise those who want to block their learning, like Aelius. Their true calling is as a hunter, just like Aquila- they take joy in pursuing anything, from criminals to knowledge to abilities. Some distrust Nerva because of this or watch them closely, but even with that there's no need to be worried about any silvertongued traits about them. They're very socially awkward due to their nature- many don't know they have secrets to keep, but just think that Nerva is very bad at casual communication or is too focused on other things to bother. Nerva does not have many friends and does not know how to make them, but thrives in MISS- but their work ethic is "go until you drop", so Nerva literally doesn't stop until they can't do anything else. It's unhealthy but works for Nerva, despite any worries about it. - Their family was a strange one- with a mother dead at a young age for Nerva, they mostly grew up as an only child with their father, Veras Helfair. Their father was an avid practitioner of dark arts and actively encouraged it in Nerva, although they didn't go nearly as far. The passion for all branches of magic came from him, and the warning to be careful with the knowledge- but he did train them to use all the magic they knew, taking down animals and people in their secluded home. Veras was eventually caught out by MISS and imprisoned, and Nerva was brought in to be trained. Found useful- although any risky knowledge was hidden from the group- Nerva was shaped into the awkward, natural hunter that they are now. - The reluctant cousin of Aelius Distal. Distrustful of him, and hates his watchful gaze. Nerva knows many branches of magic, but is highly skilled in deceptive illusions- making others see, smell, hear, and sometimes even touch what is not there. It makes them very useful for chases and to scare criminals into certain areas or lure them in, but isn't very useful in fighting but to trick the eye. Their secondary kind of magic is wind based, although they have a considerable array of other spells at their disposal. Forays into dark magic have caught Aelius' eye, and they have kept on dabbling in it when Aelius doesn't notice.

Bartholmieu Naviaux 41 ≡ male ≡ pure ≡ Murry, parrotlet ≡ sergeant ≡ neutral Quiet. Capable. Legillimens, skilled with trap spells and curses. Murry is a pastel green parrotlet, more yellow-tinged on his wings and underbelly. Despite his small shape, Murry has immeasurable attitude and has no problem taking it out on anyone in the vicinity. While he may be terrible, he tends to be sweeter on Arty, especially after all they've been through, but Arty is also victim to his irritability. Murry helps keep Arty emotionally stable and, well, alive. Thanks to his small size, Murry is very useful at getting into places most others cant reach. - Arty isn't too particularly tall, somewhere around 5'9 in height, with a stocky build and broad shoulders. His face is angular with a strong jaw and straight nose, though the most notable feature on his face is the lack of a left eye, the absence covered up with a simple black eyepatch. His eyes are dark and intense, framed by darker brows, but his hair is a pale, wheat-colored blond, slicked back messily. For the most part he's usually clean shaven unless he's having an off-day, but leaves his sideburns as is. Arty covers up his scars like most, keeping his hands wrapped up but for the most part dressed unspectacular- clean and classy, if anything. He doesn't dress much like he used to, and tries to keep it plain.
Despite his intimidating appearance, Arty is quiet. He doesn't talk much unless he's spoken to, and keeps to himself. He seems often as if he's tired, but is more than capable of executing orders at short notice. His rough upbringing has warped his personality somewhat, and he seems more introverted than in his youth. He is alarmingly good at numbing his emotions when it comes to do dirty work, but makes his distaste for it clear. With his personality he generally tends to fly under the radar, but is always observing and picking up on things. It's actually very tough to get him riled up, but usually if you target people he's close to he can start to unravel. While he may seem even cold, Arty is friendly at his core, sweet even, wanting to help people but born into the bad side of things. At close inspection, it's clear he has a cleverness for magic and dealing with social interaction, but his tendency to keep quiet makes him hard to read. Arguably, it could be said that he is just bad at showing emotions. He speaks with a thick French accent.
-
Bartholmieu's family is deeply involved in the Milieu, or the French mob. Because of this, he grew up around it and was raised to be a part of it. As the oldest child of three, he also bore the most responsibility, and living up to his parents expectations was hard for him. He did his best for the sake of his siblings, to keep most of his parent's influence off of them. He managed to do alright for the most part, but as he grew into his adult years he grew unstable under the pressure and eventually he just...broke. Screwed up during an important job, bad enough that it was an incredibly harsh blow to the Naviaux reputation and business. While any normal grunt would be killed, his mother insisted that was too far, but he was disowned from the family. Torture magic and interrogation leaves him without memory of mob secrets, but also leaves him scarred and a bit worse for wear, and one eye short. With all cuts tied, he eventually found his way into MISS after struggling for a fresh start. His skill with magic helped him earn a spot, and his ability to follow orders. He seems unable to talk much about his past. -
While he has never married, Bartholmieu has 4 adopted kids under a different name, mostly to keep them out of trouble. He was born to Leopold and Delphine Naxiaux, and has two younger siblings Audric and Clarimond. Although you might not suspect it, Arty is a quite gifted legilimens- which is an ability that runs in the family. He grew up studying how to use it, and knows just the right ways to get into someone's mind. While strong and clever with it, he can't break the walls of stronger occlumens, and the connection the power to his past often leaves him unable to use it as he pleases, so his trap spells and cursework are the forefront of his abilities, which he is good at using. Dark magic was prevalent in his family, but he no longer has memory of it to use it, or at least cannot access it even if he wanted to.
