It had been what felt like weeks, though Elric knew that it could not have been more than a few days. He couldn't really tell anymore.
It had been dark in the boat, under the deck where the sun didn't shine and he couldn't use the sky to work out their location or the time of day. His wrists were red raw from the bindings and there had been no obvious escape. It was a boat, after all, and there was a very limited number of things you could do on a boat. Escaping was not one of them if you weren't a fan of drowning.
They had been there for at least two days.
Then the boat had stopped moving and they had been bundled off. From there, it had been another day's journey across land to the palace. And the dungeons.
That was where they had been taken. Initially, anyway. It didn't make any difference to Elric. Just another place to try and escape from. New bonds to try and break. Even though he wasn't sure if there was even any hope of escape anymore. It didn't matter. The young man hadn't stopped his escape attempts for the whole journey.

( do you want to rp the king semper?)
Once they were actually captured all of the fight seemed to have left Keegans body. He didn't realize how many days had passed on the boat, he just stared blankly at the walls, not eating or drinking. He refused to even look at Elric, guilt flooding him at the fact that he'd just gotten Elric into a world of pain that o one deserved. He just hoped that the man would escape somehow. The dark haired man glanced up finally, after days of silence and avoidance, to stare at Elric. How come he was still fighting? Even if he managed to escape those shackles the palace was a fortress. It'd be impossible to escape from. He knew from the guards that funcan was waiting for them, at that his old master was on his way too, which meant that they were done for. Keegan let out a soft sigh, looking at Elric with a hundred questions in his eyes.

[OMG right I totally forgot about that! I can quickly do a little something]
Elric's gaze caught Keegan's for a moment, and it was at that moment the fight left him too and he let out a sigh, shoulders curling in. He had given up now, too.
"I don't know what I'm doing, Keegan," Elric said in reply to the man's questioning gaze, voice quiet "I want to not give up, but the truth is I haven't got a clue."
His voice was quiet, yes, but there was still something there. While he was saying all of this, he was aware of his brain still working at a mile a minute, desperately trying to work something out. Trying to work out an escape solution that he knew wasn't there.
He didn't blame Keegan, though Keegan clearly blamed himself. Elric thought it was his fault, actually. If he hadn't gone sticking his nose in, nobody would have known Keegan was at the palace and neither of them would be here.
______
The King, having commended his daughter on her quick reaction to the news, had sent out search parties all over the kingdom to find any sign of his son. There was, thus far, no news, and he did not dare send guards beyond his own kingdom. He did not want to aggravate neighbouring realms by sending armed guards into their territories.
The only thing the King had to go on was signs of a struggle in the library, with dropped books and ink spilt on the floor. Nothing else remained.
It had been an excruciating few days, and the king had all but withdrawn to his study, where he pored over what information he had. Just like his son had been doing for Keegan for months and months before the kidnapping.

"I can get away? What about you?" Elric asked, tilting his head "If there's a chance to get out of here, you're coming with me. I'm not leaving you here"
He paused for a moment before continuing "I should have listened to you, Keegan. About being cautious of the people around me. Someone in the palace must have told your brother about everything and I'm willing to bet it was one of my siblings."
And then there were his deep-down fears, ones he wouldn't want to say to Keegan. Fears that his father would just give up on his son and name on of his siblings next in line because there were so many potential heirs in that palace that losing one probably wasn't that big a deal. Elric had to have gotten his cold logic from somewhere, and that somewhere was his father, who loved his children but would still forget about Elric in a heartbeat if it came down to it.

Keegan shook his head lightly at the princes insistence of being brought with him. Ever the pessimist the former crown prince was convinced that he was as good as gone at this prince point, so why should he try to escape? His master would be there within the next two days, and then he'd be taken back to the estate, and he'd never see Elric again. Of course he might stay a few more nights just for his brothers own sick amusement, but still. Once his master was here there was no way he'd be able to escape, so he was a goner.
"M-master will b-be here soon. Th-then I'll b-be gone. S-so focus on y-yourself, Elric." He responded firmly, studying the prince through quiet eyes. It was odd seeing the royal in this state- he was always a well put together man, but with the nights of captivity he didn't even look like the same man. But he still held those feelings for him, and that protectiveness surged through him, wanting to shield the man from his brother despite them being shackled in a dirty prison.

"I am going to find a way to escape, a damn good one. And, God willing, it'll be before your master gets here. I don't intend to die here, and neither do I intend to let anything happen to you." Elric replied "And I know how bad this situation is, but you can choose to give up and resign yourself to your fate, knowing that everyone will forever assume that this kidnapping was your doing, or you could help me. Even if it's not escaping, even if it's just getting a message out somehow, we have to do something."
The prince looked very different than he had a few days before. Lack of sleep had gotten to him, as well as the dirt. Keegan looked worse though - at least Elric had touched some food since the kidnapping, though he'd still been far too stressed and distracted to eat much of what he had been given. It haad made the prince feel fiercely protective of the other man, even though he knew he must look a sight himself. The way Elric must have looked hadn't crossed his mind.

Gabriel was out in the garden, all by his lonesome, playing his flute as he lay draped in the branches of his favorite tree, which was just starting to blossom. Of course he had heard of what went on in the castle, he lived there after all. It was putting undue stress on him however, being that he now had to decide if he were going to take on the title of crown prince, or if he was going to join the effort to save his brother and the other man who had been taken. Gabriel would have liked to think he was the type of person who would do right, and go to save his elder brother (whom he did in fact love) but the more driven side of himself urged him to stay in the castle, to take the title and eventually become king. Then again, he didn't believe the rumors that Keegan had been the one to snatch his brother. He'd seen the scrap of a being shadowing his brother on more than one occasion, and basically Gabriel doubted he would have been able to even struggle with Elric without breaking himself. That meant there was a conspiracy brewing in the castle and more than likely one of his siblings was to blame. Taking the title of 'Crown Prince' would heighten the likely hood of Gabriel himself being thrown right into the line of fire. He could hold his own well enough, and had many many friends. He basically had his own army in the making, but right now, right this second, Gabriel didn't want to be in the line of fire. He would bide his time, and see how this played out. Whichever way this went down, Gabriel would be prepared. He had his loyal subjects and he had his suspicions on which of his siblings it could have be to orchestrate this. For the time being, he would keep these thoughts for himself however. Though Gabriel was thinking all of these things, it hardly seemed as if he were, his eyes were shut, his melody was consistent, and his metaphorical feathers seemed unruffled.
Artemis was laying on their bed, reading a book of herbs, looking through ones that would be deadly, and what the signs and cures for each were. They too were aware of what was going on in the castle, and knew that Gabriel was the next likely candidate for the throne. This meant Arte had to worry too, since Gabriel was their favorite sibling and twin. Like Gabriel they suspected the conspiracy and should Gabriel take the title, Artemis was not about to let a usurper hurt their twin. Artemis knew of Gabriel's true and hidden prowess and his level of violence, intellect and strategy if it came to a battle, they knew he could hold his own, and may take actual pleasure in ridding the castle of whichever sibling it was that were a threat, however that didn't mean Arte wouldn't be there with a backup plan. A quieter, more subtle one. Luckily for them, this particular book was written in Latin, which only he, and his father could read at the level that was needed to obtain this books knowledge. It was written in such away that each word could be a double meaning, so if you were not fluent it would throw you off on tangents.
Thoren, like wise was aware of the current events, and currently was busy at work, making suplies for the search parties, and what not that were sure to come. He made Lanterns (candle making being a surprising talent for the blacksmith, who knew...) and made horse shoes for a plethora of horses, since it was likely parties would have at least one horse, if not more. Likewise he made defensive and offensive weapons for them to take with. He was not selling these items, as he were sworn to the royal family as a whole. If a party was to attempt a rescue of the Crown Prince, it was his business to outfit them. Currently, the young black smith was making leather harnesses and leads for Search dogs. His hair was pulled back out of his face, as he used the large leather working needle to sew them together. even if it were a rush job, each piece of leather was embrodiered skillfully with the Kingdoms symbol, and was masterfully held together.

Elisa was out in the gardens, having taken a small break from the chaos that was the castle at the moment. It was complete and total anarchy and everyone was concerned for the welfare of the prince, with some daring to suggest that the young man might even already be dead.
Elisa did miss the prince, and she longed for news of his safety, but she had to be honest and say she hadn't really spoken to him since he was about fifteen or sixteen, so she didn't even really know what he was life anymore. She did, however, suspect the involvement of one of the siblings, though she had no idea which one. She wouldn't like to think that any of the people she had grown up with would be capable of orchestrating the kidnap - and maybe murder - of their brother. But maybe she was being naive. This kind of thing happened frequently in royal families.
The familiar sound of a flute caught her attention as she looked up to see Gabriel up in a tree. She hadn't seen him since his brother's kidnapping and she yearned to know how he was coping.
So she hitched up her dress like she had done when she was little and climbed up the tree to seat herself on the next branch to the prince.
"Hey, Gabriel. Haven't seen you in a while. How are you doing?"
She didn't want to specifically mention the kidnapping, since she didn't know how he would react.

Gabriel's eyes fluttered open at the sound of another person's voice, and he ceased playing, looking down from his perch in the tree branches to, to see Elise. relief immediately flooded into his eyes and he smiled softly at her. She was one of the few people he could really set himself at ease around. "Well, a good morning to you as well, M'lady. Yes it has been a few days now since our last little picnic" he grinned, though it was smaller than usual. "I am well...I mean, as much as anyone can be, considering the current circumstances." He sighed softly and looked at the flowers that were blooming, gently fingering the delicate petals of one thoughfully. "It has been a hectic couple of days." He in nonspecific terms brought the topic of kidnapping to light, as he was sure that was what she was asking about. He didn't mind talking about it with her however, he trusted her. "There is much to think about in these coming days...I don't much care for making rash life decisions and Elric's disappearance is troubling, to say the least." He looked at her "What are your thoughts on the current situation?"

Elisa nodded "I understand. It really isn't an easy thing, after all, to deal with all of this on top of the pressure that comes with it. As for my thoughts, I don't really know what to say about it. I'm obviously as shocked as everyone else about Elric's disappearance - well, I mean, kidnapping - but I think you should just take a look at yourself and decide what you want to do. I think Elric is honestly the only person who could advise you on your next steps, since he thinks so objectively, and he's not here. I think you'll be in danger either way, whether you go to save your brother or stay here and serve your own interests. I'm not going to tell you what to do, Gabriel, it's all about you and whether you want to be a brother or a prince."
She knew he would make the right decision in the end, even if Elisa herself wasn't sure what the right decision was. After all, if she were him, wouldn't she want to take power and step out of the crown prince's shadow? But then, wouldn't she also want to save her brother? It was an impossible decision for him to make.

Keegan stared at the man, shocked at the sudden determination that filled the princes body. Honestly when he got like this it was difficult to remain his typical pessimistic self. The way Elric spoke made him think that maybe, just maybe. They could escape. So the former crown prince did the only thing he could think of doing and nodded slowly, wincing a little as he did so. He'd hit his head a few times while fighting, and the headache was still there.
"I'll help you, Elric. B-but d-don't get your h-hopes up," he finally said, glancing back down at his feet. Suddenly he thought of something- if Torin was in the castle he'd be able to help. And if not, if he was truly desperate... he could try to talk to the man he'd once loved. Perhaps if he saw that Duncan had wrongfully improdsined the other prince he'd be willing to help. Tarek always had a rather strong moral compass, save for when it came to Keegan apparently.

"Well, uh, I don't really have much else right now. So I'll try not to get my hopes up but I probably won't succeed. I don't have a plan right now, but I'll think of something. If Duncan made a mistake before, he can make one again. We just have to make the most of it when he does." Elric replied.
He could tell that Keegan was thinking of something, however, and he wanted to know if he had a plan. He was pleased he had seemed to ignite something in the other man, who seemed a lot more positive now than he had been originally.
Elric tried to survey the room again, trying to see if there was anything he had missed, though he had no doubt that Duncan's dungeons would be impenetrable.

Gabriel sighed softly, as he gazed into the sky watching the clouds. "It is an opportunity for me...However I don't really feel being put into the line of fire for the throne...I don't think the "kiddnapping" was an accident..." He sighed and gently ran his fingers along the bark of the tree. "It is fine for now, as my Father has yet to offer me the title. I am next in line, so it will happen eventually if Elric is not found...so for now, I think I will bide my time. I do want to see how this all plays out. I am not planning on making any rash moves in trying to claim the throne, even if it is wide open now." He played with his hair a bit, brushing through it with his fingers. "Besides...its not as if I haven't had opportunities to marry into other families and become the crowned monarch...there are plenty of thrones around, if I wanted I could have had one by now..." He looked to Elisa. "I want to know what happened, and who is responsible though. This upheaval of power is vexing. Usurpers are common but that doesn't mean they should get away with it...you know?"

Elisa nodded "I don't think it is either. After all, a crown prince is not someone you kidnap just for the sake of it, you do it to get them out of the running for the throne. And what would Keegan gain from kidnapping him, in that case? No, it is clearly someone in the family. Not you or Arte, of course, but someone who wants a go at the throne. And that means if you take power, whoever set up this kidnapping will target you next. And I don't want that to happen. I agree with you, though, we need to smoke out the rat in this palace. Something is very wrong here. You should perhaps do some snooping while you bide your time here. In secret, of course."
She, too, had the feeling of discomfort. Recent events had been very unsettling and she wasn't even sure if Elric would be safe. They might never see the young man ever again if they didn't find him quickly. But, if Keegan was being wrongfully accused, they did not have very much to do on at all.
She looked up at the clouds also, watching them floating across the sky like little boats. It was such a peaceful day and yet the world felt anything but peaceful at that moment.

Keegan pressed his lips together, clearly looking displeased at the comment that pretty much insinuated that Elric would still get his hopes up. But if the crown prince wanted to hold onto something that was so dangerous in their situation, he could. Keegan wouldn't stop him. He already tried to warn him, but like last time Elric just didn't seem to listen to him on it. The D'ran cut his gaze away from the man he'd come to care about, studying the almost completely dark cell they were in. Keegan had his hands shackled up high, forcing him into a standing position even when resting, the man still looking nothing more than a shadow in the room. Weak light trickled out from a slot that was considered a "window", not much thicker than the side of his own hand. "I-if we w-were to 'scape th-there, we'd have to h-have someone h-help u-us. Th-this p-place was d-designed t-to let p-people in a-and for them t-to never come out." He informed the man almost thoughtfully, Euridian slipping every now and then and he'd revert to his native tongue. He swiped his tongue over his chapped and bleeding lips, brows furrowed as h thought of what they could do.

"I know that look," Elric said when the other man pressed his lips together "I'm sorry, you're right, now isn't the time for naivety. Honestly, the one time I need to have a clear head..."
Elric spun in his matching shackles, kicking against the wall to get a better look at the "window" when Keegan mentioned it and letting out a small gasp sound as his eyes got exposed to the light again, blinking his tired eyes. After he had gotten used to it, he nodded thoughtfully. Perhaps it was on option, something workable they could manage with a little bit of time and effort.
"Okay, and who could help us? Do you know if there's anyone here right now who would even help us? And would help us before your brother finds out?"
Elric was constantly reminded that someone could enter the dungeons at any moment and there would be no warning. If they were going to escape, it would have to be from right under Duncan's nose, which would be something incredibly difficult to actually pull off.

Keegan watched as the larger man pulled himself up towards the light, almost smiling when he was called out on the look he gave the prince. At least he understood his point of view, and didn't brush it away this time. But the smile didn't quite reach his lips, trying to conserve whatever energy he had left and finding "smiling" a trivial waste of enerhy. So was looking out a window but he wasn't going to call the man out on that one. He didn't want it to seem like he was continuously kicking the other down. So he shifted a little, trying to find some comfort in the position he was in but finding none.
"P-perhaps T-t-Torin," he began grudgingly, brows furrowing more, clearly hesitant on bringing the other name up. He still could barely think about the other man without it wrenching his heart. "Th-there's another m-man here. H-he'd be w-willing to h-help you b-but not me, I d-don't think. W-we left on b-b-bad terms," he finally added, keeping their "last resort" on the table. -- Tori was pacing back and forth just outside the blacksmiths area, hellbent on going on this mission. SHe didn't know whether father would approve or not, but she was planning on going and that was that. She just needed Thorins help on getting into the rescue team... the entire story about Keegan kidnapping her big brother was completely bogus. Sure the man was known for his hand to hand combat skills, so it'd be probable that Keegan could knock him out, but she'd been watching the ghost of a man and he only fought when he saw himself as being provoked. Plus even after his stay in the castle he was still skin and bones, just not completely malnourished anymore. There was no way he'd be able to take Elric anywhere in his state, because he still couldn't make it past the castle gardens without becoming exhausted. Yet father was convinced it was Keegan, and there was no stopping that opinion apparently. So Tori wanted to rescue her brother to not only clear Keegans name but to save him. There was something going on in the castle, a conspiracy of sorts and she was going to figure out who it was that started this.

Elric sighed "Torin. I suppose he's a possibility, Keegan, but I want someone who will help the both of us if we could and I'd really rather we not have to beg for the help of someone who treated you so badly. Your little brother? Is he around? Any servants who might be sympathetic? Literally any other option than Torin? Because I'd really rather not go to him, on principle."
He bit his lip before continuing "Of course, we could always rely on the fact that my father will be searching very hard for me and I'm sure that at least one of my siblings will be trying to help me. Victoria, if I know her, would probably be halfway here now if she knew where we 're. There must be someone who suspects what's going on, especially if my father sends out search parties and can't find me in Erudium. Though I don't really think it's the best idea to just sit here and wait to be saved. Perhaps we should just go with your original plan of waiting it out on the off-chance that Duncan will slip up"

"H-he's n-not a bad m-man, a-and if worse comes to worse he's th-the best option y-you have." He shot back immediately, lifting his head lightly in that stubborn way of his. He felt bad for defending the guy, especially after all that he had done to Keegan, but he wanted Elric to know that he was a valid option. Thank the gods Elric didn't know that the man was his former lover, always avoiding that topic. All Elric knew was about the betrayal and how horribly Keegan was treated by him After. "M-my baby b-brother might b-be in the c-castle b-but I wouldn't kn-know how to g-get ahold of him. He w-wouldn't come d-down here. H-he has a fear of t-tight, d-dark places. H-he set foot in here o-once and n-nearly had a panic attack. N-no s-servants w-willing to r-risk their h-heads either. L-like I said. E-everyone believes h-him, or are t-to scared to speak out." He added with a groan, knowing they'd have to go with their first plan of hedging their bets on a mistake. Which was unlikely to happen which mean they were as good as dead. (I'll bring in Duncan soon. Also Torin is the baby brother *^)

OMG yes he is so sorry XD Sorry, it's nearly 10pm and my brain isn't working - I had some issues with my retainer and my teeth hurt so much I couldn't sleep last night x]
"Okay, so we can't rely on Torin or the servants at this point. And I'd really just like to consider that other man a last resort if we can, even if you do consider him a decent man. I definitely think this is just a waiting game, unfortunately." Elric sighed.
He did not want to lose hope, but their chances of escape were looking slim at best and he wasn't sure if they were going to escape. Perhaps Keegan was really going to be handed over to his master and Elric was going to be driven to insanity and killed. He didn't want to think about the possibility, but it was much more possible than their escape at that point and Elric was not the kind of person who wanted to blind himself to the truth, even if he had wanted to cling on to what little hope there as.
He didn't know what to do anymore but he wanted soo much to feel like he had a plan, too feel like he knew what he was doing even though he so clearly didn't. He didn't want to disappoint Keegan, either, even though he knw it wasn't his problem.

"Y-you c-could a-always j-just come b-back for m-me. G-getting you o-out and s-safe is a t-top p-priority," he suggested weakly, wanting to get the man out as quickly as possible. No doubt the prince was shaken, but no real damage had been done to him yet, and Keegan fully intended on keeping it that way. He felt a surge of protectiveness wash over him, and the desire to keep him safe, just like Elric had done since he escaped captivity. He opened his mouth to say more but quickly shut it as he heard his brothers footsteps walk down the hall. The former crown prince swallowed, his fear flashing in his eyes before he steeled his features just like he had been taught to years ago. He wasn't going to let his brother know he was scared. He could recognize the strong, confident steps anywhere and as they neared Keegan began to struggle with his blank expression, before finally grabbing a hold of it as a tall man stopped at their cell. Duncan guildenstern was about the polar opposite of his brother- skin pale from his time spent in the palace, a large and intimidating from with muscles that were clearly there, along with a confident smirk and short black hair. The only similarity the two had were their green eyes. "Well well well, what do we have here? A sorry excuse for a crown prince and a murderer," the king drawled, eyes barely glancing over at his older brother, his gaze cold and calculating.

(if its okay, I would like to add one more character, this one for the time being could be residing in Duncan's kingdom, perhapse he could be of some help to Elric and Keegan. Plus then I can have an even 4 characters ^^' )
Finnian Loraven| 19 | Male | Solstice
Appearance: Finni is a slight young man who is average weight but a bit short for his age. His skin is slightly tanned, but is still on the fair end of the spectrum. He has a healthy complexion and soft looking skin. He has black hair that is left loose to his shoulders with bangs that fall into his eyes. he has a stripe on the left side of his bangs that is solid white. on this side of his face, there is scar running from the top of his eyes to his mid cheek. His eyes are a dark indigo color with small flecks of silver in them.
Personality: Finni is an energetic, cheerful young man who enjoys the company of others. He is very compassionate, fair and as well as patient. Most of the time, he appears to be childish and ditzy though he can be wise and mature when he wants to be. He has intense moments of clarity, and is a good judge of others characters. He is a bit accident prone. He often stumbles over nothing, or his own feet, he also gets lost in thought and can remain in his own head for minutes, even if someone else is talking to him. Finnian is a tender soul, and doesn't have the stomach for violence, or Death. Despite the fact that he chooses not to fight he lives to care for others, and sometimes gets very depressed that he can not help everyone. His depression never last long, as it generally just takes some quite time to himself, and he will get over it. He is an optimist, and has a low tolerance for the cruel or corrupt. He can be overly impulsive and eager to please, and does not do well under pressure or in making decisions that do not satisfy everyone. He also is not very logical and is very feeling based. He is also over generous, to the point of being impoverished, as he gives everything away freely.
Other: Finnian is an oracle, and has been known to make predictions of the future. He used to live in the castle for this reason, but people lost faith in his abilities (or they were fearful of them) and threw him out. He owns a black dog, who was rumored to be a wolf at one point because of its looks (Its not though)he named it Sheba. He is also a proficient medic, and care taker. He loves being called Finni and will sometime insist on that, rather than the stuffy proper Finnian.

"I could, but let's still make that our last resort" Elric had replied.
The prince had shut up at the same time as the other man, knowing something was wrong as he watched a blankness cloud Keegan's features. Duncan was coming.
Elric had calmed his own features as best as he could, but he was not as practised at it so couldn't do it anywhere near as well as Keegan.
The king's taunts didn't appear to affect the young prince very much, who simply raised an eyebrow and replied "No, you're the murderer. And not a very good one at that, if such a sorry excuse for a prince could find your little mistake."
Well, he'd probably made a big mistake, but it was very satisfying anyway so Elric couldn't bring himself to care. What would Duncan do? Kill him a bit quicker? Elric doubted it, since it would go against Duncan's whole plan of killing him slowly or whatever. He wasn't really very scared of this man, even though he knew he probably should be, if he had any sense.
(Sorry if it's short with a lot of typos, I'm on my phone)

Elric pulled back, moving his face from the uncomfortable grip of the other male. He spoke again to draw Duncan's attention away from Keegan, not wanting that little confrontation to go any further. He didn't want Keegan to get hurt. Not for defending Elric.
"I know he's innocent, and I knew it before he turned up at the palace. If he's guilty, why the slip up at the murder scene? If he's guilty, why am I here? I'll tell you why. I'm here because you're the guilty one and you're scared of me, scared that I'll reveal who you really are. So you can stop playing games. I came to my conclusions on my own, thank you very much, without the help of your brother"
