With his tail flicking back and forth, Thawkit tried to convince himself that nothing could happen to him while NightBringer was here. He tilted his head to the side at Applepelts comment, even twitching his ears with humour as he watched the tom try to justify his words. "Could you teach me?" he meowed tentatively, not yet daring to meet Applepelt's gaze. _________________________________________________________________________________ Warm light filled the medicine cove as Poppysun padded out of her den, stretching her legs satisfyingly and flexing her claws. She yawned widely, walking swiftly to the herb den to check her supplies. For the moment it seemed as though everything was in full supply, the warm weather had caused excessive amounts of herbs to grow and her piles were never low. She suddenly noticed how hungry she was, deciding to get some fresh kill and see if NightBringer wanted to share. Poppysun picked out a plumb pigeon from the pile, looking around for her friend. That surprised Applepelt a bit, but he nodded. "Sure, I can teach you a few things." He stood up and padded over to an area with longer grass. He flicked his tail, signalling Thawkit to follow him. He would start with a crouching position and move onto listening for different animals. He doubted there would be any prey this close to the den, but he could still learn something.

Snowdapple passed Dovekit's hiding spot again. She paused and tried to scent again. Dovekit held her breath as she saw Snowdapple pass her again. Smokekit peaked his head between the leaves at the edge of the clearing, watching Snowdapple and Elmkit trot about.

The long grass felt cool against the kits pelt, and he relaxed slightly, watching Applepelt thinking.

Lowering himself into the grass so that only the tips of his ears could be seen, and spoke loud enough for Thawkit to hear. "You want to keep low to the ground, so that prey can't see you. But try to stay on your toes as much as possible, so you can move quickly."

(hola friends! ill take over emeraldkit and pearlkit now. thank you CinderBrook and Sparkly for your help!) EmeraldKit paused, and purred a bit. "really?" he questioned, crouching down. his eyes tracked the moss ball, and he let out a hiss as he jumped up, batting it to the ground. before he could pounce on it again, his sister intervened. PearlKit pounced on the mossball, sending it skittering across the clearing. she purred louder, and chased after it. ✯ Stealthcreek watched in amusement as Pearlkit went to retrieve the moss ball. She turned to Emeraldkit "Why were you so put off by me when I first came to talk to you two?" She asked. [ Also, taking a week break from the forums, just fyi ]

Dovekit crouched even lower to the ground as she noticed that Snowdapple was headed straight towards her. Elmkit bounced happily after the warrior, glancing knowingly at the rock Snowdapple was headed towards. Lowering himself into the grass so that only the tips of his ears could be seen, and spoke loud enough for Thawkit to hear. "You want to keep low to the ground, so that prey can't see you. But try to stay on your toes as much as possible, so you can move quickly." Thawkit copied the warriors stance, dropping in an unsteady crouch where most of his weight rested heavily on his front paws. The kit could barely be seen through the tall grass, but her put his ears to his head and keot his tail just above the ground.

"Fox dung!" Dovekit mutters to herself, creeping out from behind the rock. She throws a glance at Elmkit, mewing louder this time, "Are you sure he didn't help you?" Her question was accusing but her tone was playful, and she nudged Snowdapple with her cheek.

"Pretty good, but you're resting too heavily on your front paws. If you tried to sneak up on a mouse like that, you'd give yourself away quickly. Try to put the weight right in the middle." He leaned down to demonstrate, over-exaggerating a bit to make it more obvious.

Once he thought he had mastered the position, he crept forward with quick steps, his sides brushing the grass. He opened his mouth to taste the air, picking up the scent of the cats around him, although he couldn't smell any prey except that from the fresh kill pile. "It's okay. And no he didn't help me at all." Snowdapple purred. "Now I just have to find Smokekit." Dovekit nodded, racing after her brother and knocking him over. She held Elmkit down with strong paws, raising her chin triumphantly at the camp. Elmkit let out a playful yowl as his sister bowled him over, struggling as he was attacked. Knowing that he couldn't escape by force alone, he went limp, pretending that he had given up. As Dovekit lifted her chin, he pushed upwards, throwing her off him and running after Snowdapple.

Snowdapple shook her head with a giggle at the silly kits. She then put her nose to the ground and tried to track Smokekit. "I'll find you don't worry dear. I love hide and seek but I love being with you too." She called as she wandered about the cage again. ( LightBringer the rp I was going to put them in hasn't answered back so I may just put them in the World of Warriors.)

Smokekit hardly moved as he watched Snowdapple pad around camp. He was far more patient than his siblings, who wouldn't be able to keep still for more than a few minutes. This fact, and his smoky pelt, made him excellent at hiding; he knew that the only way someone would be able to find him is if they smelled him, and he had disguised his scent with the rotting leaves around him.

You have pretty good instincts. I'm sure you'll be an excellent hunter." He crept forward a bit, before settling down and looking around. "Can you tell how many cats are here? Without looking?" This was a bit harder to learn, and could only improve with practice, but he was curious how close the kit could come without any training.

Making up his mind, he slipped out of his hiding place when the warrior had her back turned. Smokekit sprints towards Snowdapple, leaping onto her back and yowling happily, "Here I am!" Dovekit and Elmkit watch with round eyes as they see their brother bound across camp. Elmkit lets out an excited mew, springing to help Smokekit tackle the she-cat.

"Can you tell how many cats are here? Without looking?" This was a bit harder to learn, and could only improve with practice, but he was curious how close the kit could come without any training. Straightening up, Thawkit licks his chest, embarrassed at the warriors praise while also proud. He lifts his head and smells the air again, opening his mouth slightly. The scents of Dovekit, Elmkit, Smokekit and the warrior with them waft towards him, as well as the scents of Poppysun, Emeraldkit, Pearlkit, Blackkit, and the two warriors with the kits. He could smell countless other kit smells, but he couldn't count them anymore. "I can pick out 10 scents in total, not including ours." He mews, then continues uncertainly"But I don't know how many kits are here in total."

Applepelt's whiskers twitched in surprise. Thawkit was very close. "Off by one, see?" He nodded towards the entrance where a worker had returned from hunting. "But that is still very good for your first time. I couldn't do that until a moon into my training." He was very impressed, and the tom was confident that with a nurturing environment he would flourish.

Smokekit flicks his tail across Snowdapples flank, signalling that she should go hide in one of the dens. He bounds in front of her, heading towards the medicine cat den. He crouches down in the soft ferns. Dovekit follows Smokekit, hiding in the ferns at the end of the den. Closing his eyes, Elmkit waits a few heartbeats for his siblings and Snowdapple to hide, concentrating on the scents around him.

After waiting a few minutes, Elmkit opened his eyes and looked around, trying to think of where the other cats might hide. He couldn't see any obvious spots for a warrior to hide, so he figured that she must have hid in one of the dens, the medicine cove or the ferns at the edges of the camp.
