Same message. Nice try.
"Yeah, that sucks." said Dean, as if he was only halfway paying attention.

Sherlock let out his breath, leaning back and putting his hands to his face. He kept typing in bit of information here and there, from randomly relevant numbers to fragments of myth, but naturally none of it worked.

Tom woke suddenly with a scream, fear racing through his veins even though the dream that had caused it was already fast slipping from memory.

James rushed into the tent, judging from how fast he got there he had been just outside. He stopped staring around for the source of the problem, then approached Tom's bed and sat down hesitantly. "What is it?" He asked his younger brother.

Tom's eyes darted around the tent. He shook his head, completely disoriented. "W-we have to hurry." he mumbled. "Ben'll be back any minute, we need to go."
"Patterson!" called Kurt, seeing Watson returning to the surface carrying the unconscious scientist. "Is she alright?"

James blinked, understanding filling his bright blue eyes. "We got away, brother." He reminded him gently. "Remember? Ben can't find you here."
Finch turned, hearing the commotion. He stiffened when he saw Patterson's unconscious form, then limped hurriedly over. "What happened?"
"Bit of an accident, she's still alive though." Sherlock spoke up, following John.

"Move over, please." said Watson tersely, moving to lay Patterson down on the hospital tent's bed. "She's lost quite a lot of blood, I still need to stabilize her."
"Accident? What kind of accident?" demanded Kurt. "What happened down there?"
Tom stared back up at him, meeting his gaze. "No, you're not. Not safe." he said frantically, eyes strangely glassy. "You need to lock me up." he said, words slurred but deadly calm.

"Tom, listen to me, he's far away from here he can't hurt you." James persisted, an urgent tone appearing in his voice. He didn't know exactly what they had done to Tom, but it must have been bad.
"Nothing that can be avoided in the future." Sherlock answered, following John anyway and glancing at Kurt. "Pretty sure I know what went wrong, and so will she."
Finch stayed back, though he still looked worried.

"You're gonna need to be a little more specific than that." said Reese, joining the conversation.
"No, you don't understand." continued Tom, talking very quickly now. "I can hear the same things they showed me - I can't sort it all out. I don't know what I'll do if I'm left free. I could kill someone." He was panting quite hard, it seemed to be taking all his concentration to stay lucid.

Sherlock turned, narrowing his eyes as he took in Reese's impressive addition to the conversation. "Look, while I'm sure being in the CIA taught you excellent thoroughness, just believe me when I tell you everything's fine. When she wakes up, I'm sure she'll agree with me that we don't need a bunch of security boy scouts tripping us up down there, it's complicated enough as it is."
James frowned. Tom sounded serious, and more conscious than he had been since he got back. "Will it calm you down it I tie you up?" He asked helplessly.

Tom nodded hastily. "Yes."
Reese didn't seem terribly fazed by Sherlock's abrasive manner. "I don't believe you. Not yet. Now I need to make sure whatever happened down there won't happen again. I can either go by myself, or you can join me. Your choice." He met Sherlock's gaze, curious what he would do about being challenged in this way. Clearly whoever this guy was he thought a great deal of himself.

Sherlock stared back at Reese, and for a minute he wasn't sure what to say. Back at home, he was in complete control because he could drop the case if he felt like it, and if someone challenged him he could just throw them out if his home and call it a day. He knew from observing Reese that the man was former military, former CIA, and almost certainly was neither a real cop nor named 'Riley'. However this didn't help him, nor did the several other observations he'd made. "Fine." He said after a moment, shaking his head as if he couldn't care less. "Knock yourself out. I'll come along to make sure you don't destroy hours of work."
"All right." James agreed reluctantly, getting to his feet. "Just stay there, okay? I'll be back as soon as I can with...with the rope." He stood up, gazing down at his brother for a second before turning and hurrying out to look for rope.

"Good." said Reese, smiling amiably and heading off towards the hatch.
Mayfair walked down the beach, heading for the main crowd. "Can I have your attention please?" Once she had most people's attention, she continued. "While Chloe was out gathering food off the east edge of presently explored territory, she came across a structure in the woods. It's a house, apparently inhabited, surrounded by a small amount of farmland. Now I think it would be best to check it out, just to make sure it doesn't pose a threat to us. I'm volunteering my team; Weller, Reade, Zapata, and Jane. But if anyone else wants to come along, speak up now."
Root raised her hand. "I'll go."

"I'm in." Shaw said at the same time as Root, raising her own hand and smirking up at Mayfair. "If I get any more bored I'm gonna lose my mind."
Jane glanced over her shoulder at the tent where John was working on Patterson. "I don't like leaving her." She muttered to Kurt.
Finch stepped forward, raising his hand as well. "I'll come." He offered in a polite tone.
Sherlock soon was at the entrance of the hatch, he went in without so much as glancing at his forced companion. "What exactly are you planning on doing?" He asked once they were inside.

"Tell me what happened." said Reese, already in detective mode. He swept expertly through the hatch, glancing around at everything in turn. He knelt down by the blood on the floor, tilting his head upside down to look at the pegs in the door.
"She's in good hands." said Kurt reassuringly. "She'll be ok. We've got a job to do."
"We'll leave in a few minutes. Anyone who wants to carry a weapon should grab one now, just in case we run into trouble." said Mayfair.

Sherlock was annoyed to discover, as he had already known but had hoped he was wrong about, that Reese did indeed know what he was doing. "She tripped a security system in the computer." He said in a bored tone, his hands in his pockets, though he too made a quick search of the area. "Door came down, she was under it."
Jane nodded, shooting another reluctant glance over her shoulder before moving determinedly forward to join the rest of her team. "Right."
Finch, predictably, made no move to get a weapon. If anything happened, he would do without.
Shaw lazily took her gun out of her pocket and clicked it to check that it was loaded. "Done."

Root hung two guns on her belt, and stuffed a few extra packs of ammo into her pockets just in case. She glanced at Finch, a slightly grim expression clouding her face. "I don't like you coming along." she said chidingly. "I don't suppose I can convince you to at least carry a sidearm?"
"I'll come, too." said Charlie. "A second ear to the Machine could come in handy." she added as she got a couple weird glances. In the short silence that followed, she raised her eyebrows expectantly. "Um. Weapon anyone? I think I've proven I know how to use it."
Zapata and Kurt loaded their guns, then stowed them away.
In response, Reese tugged at the metal frame of one of the walls, until, with a snap, the nails gave way. He wedged the steel pole into the door. "There. That should keep it from happening again."

"While I appreciate your concern, Miss Groves, I assure you that if we do run into trouble, I'dll attempt to get out of it without any violence." Finch answered, inclining his head to the side in a little polite bow.
"Don't worry, Harold. Kneecaps only." Shaw added, tucking the gun away where she could easily reach it with a satisfied expression.
"Here." After a moment's hesitation, Jane held out a gun with the handle facing Charlie, a sympathetic expression in her green eyes. "I've got another one."
Sherlock was instantly beside the newly damaged wall, running his fingers over it with a look of annoyance. "There. Are you done? I've work to do." He said curtly.

Charlie smiled, satisfied. "Thanks."
"This should be fine for now." said Reese. "But I want to make sure you understand. If anyone else gets hurt, I'm shutting this operation down. It's not worth it. Understood?"
They reached the trees that were outskirting the house. "Alright." said Zapata quietly to the team. "Anyone who's got weapons, make sure they're hidden. We don't know what we're walking into here, and we don't want to look like a threat."
Kurt nodded. "Agreed. I'll go first, then everyone else follow right behind me. Any questions?"

Finch was already near the back, and as he wasn't armed neither of these orders applies to him, son he simply tilted his head forward to show he understood and agreed.
"Right." Jane answered, taking up the rear and keeping a sharp eye on their surroundings, just in case.
"Careful. Chances are Ben's got his hands in whatever's inside." Reade muttered to Kurt, close enough to have his teammate's back if anything happened.
Sherlock stiffened, staring at Reese and almost laughing out loud. As if he was going to let some ex CIA operative take away his shot at understanding this place, especially since he hadn't ruled out Reese being at least involved in the murders he had been investigating. "Right, shut it down, not worth it, think I've got the jist of it, goodbye." He answered quickly and pointedly.

Reese raised an eyebrow at him but didn't comment further, simply turning around and heading back out into the jungle. He'd have to keep an eye on that one.
Kurt nodded his agreement.
They approached the house carefully, weapons still carefully stowed. Kurt and Zapata advanced around the eastern edge, keeping a sharp eye out for any signs of movement.
In one swift, expert movement, the front door swung open. The man inside fired once at the person nearest the door, who happened to be Root. He grabbed her in a loose chokehold and aimed the gun at her head before anyone could so much as make a move. "Any one of you armed?" he shouted aggressively. "Drop your weapons! Put em on the ground! Now!"
"Hey!" said Kurt, raising his hands over his head. "Okay, just calm down. No one needs to get hurt here." Zapata and Charlie followed his example.
"Drop the guns!" he insisted loudly.

Jane, Reade, Shaw and Finch all raised their hands above their heads in surrender, Finch's eyes widening as he stomach gave a jolt of fear. "Please don't hurt her." He had said before he could stop himself, knowing he shouldn't say anything. Leave it to the FBI. They would take care of it.
Shaw was standing near the jungle, she carefully angled herself so that she could disappear behind a tree at a moment's notice.

"I won't if you're not stupid." he replied. "I'll say it once more: Weapons on the ground."
Reluctantly, Kurt put his gun on the ground and kicked it away, gesturing for his team to do the same. They obliged. "Okay. It's done. Let her go."
"She's clipped." said the man. "Flesh wound probably, but we need to get the bullet out. Come inside, it's not safe out here." He gestured to the door.

After kicking his own weapon away, Reade obediently moved forward, his hands behind his head as if he was familiar with the position.
Jane moved forward as well, carefully keeping everyone in her line of sight. She wanted to be ready if anything happened.
Finch didn't have a weapon, so he couldn't rid himself of one. Hopefully the man would realize this. Shaw, staying near Finch, was hoping she would be camouflaged by his pacifistic nature and hadn't dropped her hidden gun. "I'm a doctor." She added on a sudden inspiration, doctors usually weren't armed.

"Good." said the man. "You can help her then. Come on inside."
"I'll go first." said Kurt. "Watch for my signal once I've seen that it's safe." He disappeared inside.
"Hey." hissed Zapata in Shaw's direction. "Gun on the ground. We don't wanna mess with this guy."

"I don't wanna mess with him without a gun." Shaw answered, just as quietly. "Better hurry up, or he'll get suspicious." And without another word she moved into the house, confident that her weapon was well hidden.
"Oh dear." Finch murmured, waiting awkwardly to the side, unsure whether or not to follow Shaw and Root.
Reade waited by the door, casting a watchful eye over the rest of the volunteers.

Zapata moved so she was next to Finch. "Don't worry." she said reassuringly. "Kurt knows what he's doing. Just follow my lead, your friend'll be okay."
Kurt, after a few moments, gave the signal. Charlie and the others went into the house.

Finch nodded slightly, knowing he must look petrified, as he always did. Despite everything, this sort of thing never got any easier. He had expected it to, after so much experience with guns and death. He stepped inside, limping towards Root when he saw her.
Jane moved inside, hands still above her head and quickly let her green eyes scan the room.
Reade stepped in and moved slightly to the side so he back was against the wall, not wanting anyone out of eye shot.
Shaw was helping clean Root's wound, paying careful attention to everyone else.

Root winced and gritted her teeth. Getting the bullet out was always the worst bot.
The eye-patched stranger watched them suspiciously, gun still in hand. Zapata gave Shaw another glance like she was a time bomb that could go off any second.

Shaw ignored the look, concentrating on splitting her attention between actually fixing Root and remaining completely aware of the stranger behind her. After a minute's tedious work, she managed to drag the bullet out and deposited it on counter beside her. "I'm gonna need some bandages and disinfectant." She told the stranger calmly.
