elaina rose calden
hey, you got my back on the wall
i think it's time that these walls crumble and fall
yes you indeed love me but will you come when i call?
but would you come when i call?

Elaina sipped slowly at her tea, though the warm liquid sliding down her throat tasted like ashes. Robin's kind gesture had somewhat of a calming effect, though inside she still felt like a whirling tempest of emotions, a storm ready to break at any moment. She had tensed up at the announcement that there was a newcomer at the gate, every nerve in her body sparking with electricity. There was no way - it couldn't be her, could it? Maybe this was just a coincidence.
Maybe.
The petite blonde sort of tuned out the sounds of pleasant, normal morning conversation around her, her turquoise eyes mindlessly fixing on the stove as pancakes were flipped with varying success. Only Rowan's mental voice echoing through the pack link pulled her from her dazed daydreaming, sending a new pulse of anxiety through her, settling deep in her bones.
We are headed back to the house now. We will have a visitor with us.
Elaina reacted instantly, setting her cup of tea down a bit roughly behind her before she shoved herself off the counter and raced downstairs without so much as a word. Truthfully, to the other wolves, she might have looked more than a little psychotic in that moment - but she had been in the pack long enough now that everyone was sort of used to her occasional quirks that came with the oh-so-fun job of glimpsing the future.
But just as she reached the door leading to outside the main hall, she forced herself to stop and compose herself for a bit. The girl took in a slow, shaky breath in an effort to calm herself; should the newcomer turn out to simply be some random shifter, she figured it might not be a good first impression if she looked certifiably insane, bursting out the door all in a hurry.
Okay, she told herself, calm down, Elaina. It probably isn't her. There's no way it could be her. Coincidence. Coincidence.
(But then, Elaina had stopped believing in coincidences many years ago.)
Only then did she finally open the door, just in time to see the jeep with the other pack members pulling up in their sort-of driveway. She moved closer as Rowan climbed out of the front seat, meeting his gaze with a hint of worry shining in her gaze. A moment later, Leo hopped out, revealing an unfamiliar figure behind him, still somewhat cloaked in shadow so that Elaina couldn't make out her features, though she knew right away that this was the newcomer; she could've recognized all the other pack members in her sleep.
And then the girl stepped out of the jeep, into the light, and...
And Elaina suddenly forgot how to breathe, her ears ringing and the world turning fuzzy around her except for the new girl herself, crystal-clear as her vision narrowed in on her and her alone.
It was - it was her. The girl she had seen.
Long, milk-chocolate waves falling around a stunning face painted with a daringly defiant expression, full lips curling into just a faint smirk; lightly tanned skin, oak-colored eyes... and of course, unfairly beautiful. Exactly like her vision, down to every last detail, Elaina was sure of it; even though her vision had been hardly more than a few seconds long.
Elaina couldn't drag her gaze away from the stranger; but her voice was deadly soft and terrified as she breathed, "You. It's you. From my..." Startled as she was, Elaina was unable to complete her sentence, her voice trailing off in disbelief - and horror. It wasn't that she was all that surprised to find, once again, that coincidences didn't exist when it came to her; but she also hadn't expected the girl from her vision to appear so soon, which frightened her to her very core. What if they weren't prepared for whatever danger she might bring? She still had no idea what the vision itself meant, what this she-wolf meant for the future of their pack.
And if there was one thing Elaina hated, it was not knowing what the future held.
Maybe.
